In this episode of The Kevin Roberts Show, Heritage Foundation Senior Fellow Brent Sadler joins Dr. Roberts to discuss the urgent need to overhaul America's maritime strategy. With China asserting control over global trade routes, our nation finds itself in a dangerously vulnerable position. Sadler makes the case for bold action—through innovation, investments in human capital, and a revitalized maritime industrial base—to secure America's future. From modernizing shipping infrastructure to strengthening our military and maritime capabilities, Sadler outlines a clear path for America to reclaim its rightful place as a global leader. He also emphasizes the crucial role of the SHIPS Act, Jones Act, port infrastructure, workforce development, and groundbreaking technologies—such as small modular nuclear reactors—to propel American ships forward.About Brent Sadler: Bent Sadler joined Heritage Foundation after a 26 year Navy career with numerous operational tours on nuclear powered submarines, personal staffs of senior Defense Department leaders, and as a military diplomat in Asia. As a Senior Research Fellow, Brent's focus is on maritime security and the technologies shaping our future maritime forces, especially the Navy.Brent is a 1994 graduate with honors of the United States Naval Academy with a degree in Systems Engineering (robotics) and a minor in Japanese. As a 2004 Olmsted Scholar in Tokyo, Japan, he studied at Keio University, Jochi University and the United Nations University. He has a master of arts from Jochi University and master of science from National War College, where he graduated with distinction in 2011 and received several writing and research awards. In 2011, he established the Navy Asia Pacific Advisory Group (NAPAG), providing regionally informed advice directly to Chief of Naval Operations' (CNO). He again served on the CNO's personal staff in 2015-2016, playing a key role in developing the Defense Department's Third Offset. At Pacific Command from 2012-2015, he held numerous key positions. As lead for Maritime Strategy and Policy, he incorporated all 10 Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) into the first regional maritime domain awareness forum and was instrumental in the eventual passage of the $500 million-dollar Maritime Security Initiative. As Special Advisor on Japan, and a Council of Foreign Relations International Affairs Fellow in Tokyo, he played a key role in revising the U.S. and Japan Defense Guidelines. As Deputy Director Strategic Synchronization Group, he oversaw a think-tank like body of over 30 advisors and analysts. Brent led the Commander's Rebalance Task Force coordinating execution of the President's Defense Strategic Guidance—Rebalance to the Asia-Pacific resulting in over $12 billion USD of additional monies budgeted in fiscal years 2013 through 2015 during a time of fiscal austerity.Following his final tour on CNO's staff, Brent returned to Asia as Senior Defense Official, Defense and Naval Attaché in Malaysia. During his tenure he played a key role in coordinating responses to the USS McCain collision in August 2017, opened several politically sensitive ports and airfields to U.S. forces, oversaw unprecedented expansion of U.S. military relations, and steadied relations during the historic May 2018 national elections ushering in an opposition party for the first time since independence. His final Navy assignment was China Branch of Navy Staff at the Pentagon.

Could these 2 accidents and one unprepared squadron be prevented? What are the learnings that come out of the accident reports? Retire Command Bob Acker and Gary Casimir discuss the reasons that these accidents happened from their view. Was it money? Was that the reason? Is the Navy relying on too much technology to substitute for "real life" experience? Are "What If" scenarios plugged into the simulators? Not enough time for training due to uptempo operations? Is the right punishment being meted out?
We took two weeks off: Minutes 0 to 3:45 We took two weeks off, for Memorial Day and because I was visiting my parents in Florida. I mention that I just found a tick on my back and am on antibiotics. Chandra has been watching tennis and we think sports have a lot in common with celebrity gossip. You can listen below! Trump and his treasonous kids visit the UK: Minutes 3:45 to 9 Trump was met with huge protests, which he lied about as usual. Some of the royals, particularly Harry, William and Kate, pointedly avoided being photographed with the Trumps, which was smart. Chandra didn’t want to cover Ivanka’s fashions but she did it reluctantly. I think Tiffany is pregnant and mention seeing photos of her on a boat. Rose Hanbury came to the state banquet: Minutes 9 to 14 Kate’s rural rival, Rose Hanbury, came to the state dinner looking remarkably similar to Kate. Chandra thinks she’s a better dresser than Kate and I say it doesn’t take much. Rose walked into the banquet with a gossip columnist, Sarah Vine from the Daily Mail. Chandra found out that Rose and Sarah walked in together before the procession, meaning that it seemed very deliberate and not assigned. Camilla was drinking and Trump called Meghan nasty: Minutes 14 to 17 Camilla loves her wine and was seen with a glass during her meeting with the Trumps at the American Embassy. We find that relatable. Trump called Meghan nasty twice, once to The Sun, then he denied it and gave an interview to Piers Morgan repeating that. He only has one adjective for smart women who make valid arguments against him. Jennifer Lawrence looks different: Minutes 17 to 23 Jennifer Lawrence has been doing promotion for X-Men: Dark Phoenix. She looks much different. There’s speculation that she had work done, but it’s hard to tell what it was. (Here’s a link to a Jimmy Kimmel interview I mentioned.) Some people say it’s veneers, Botox and/or a nose job or chin implant. Her face looks sharper now. It could be injectables. (I mention this story from Bethenny Frankel but I thought her nose was different, it’s her jaw.) We agree that she didn’t need anything done. Famous people rarely own up to plastic surgery, except for Real Housewives and Cardi B. Meryl Streep doesn’t believe in toxic masculinity: Minutes 23 to 27:30 Meryl Streep made some clueless “not all men” statements when asked about toxic masculinity while promoting season two of Big Little Lies, a show where she plays the mother of an abuser. Chandra says she needs a publicist to tell her what to say and I say she’s just up her own ass and wouldn’t listen to one anyway. Serena Williams get blamed for a conference room change: Minutes 27:30 to 31 Serena Williams was told to move to a bigger press conference room by French Open organizers, pushing out Dominic Thiem. It wasn’t her fault but she was blamed for it. We talk about people policing Serena’s behavior, calling her a diva and then denying that’s racist. Chandra mentions how Wimbledon is coming up and is worried that the British press will try to use Meghan and Serena’s friendship to portray them both negatively. She also remembers how cute Meghan’s reaction was when Serena lost at Wimbledon last year. User Questions: 31 to 35 We talk about our new writer, Quimby, and why we hired her. I want to thank everyone who sent in applications. I could not respond to them all and feel bad about that. We answer Gabby’s question about celebrity names we still can’t spell. Comments of the Week: Minutes 35 to 39 My comments of the week are a little older as I looked during our time off, they’re from cannibel on the Demi Moore magic mirror post and from Sayrah on the story about Trump’s staff covering up the name of the USS McCain. Chandra’s is from Pose83 on the Camilla MVP post. We’re on all major platforms! You can leave a comment or email us at info-at-celebitchy.com. You can also leave a text or voicemail at 434-218-3219. Trump announced a 5% tariff on imports from Mexico starting next week, what does that mean for the American consumer? How do these constantly increasing tariffs with China, and new tariffs on Mexico, effect the American economy? And did the White House ask the Navy to move the USS McCain during the President's trip to Japan? Did the Vice President's office interfere in order to get former Misouri governor Eric Greiten reinstated in the Navy? is this White House politicizing the military? All that and more this week on Backroom Politics!
Dennis talks to Christian and Lindsey about Trump in London, the USS McCain being kept out of Trump’s sight, why Kellyanne Conway would possibly stay with her husband, Beto O’Rourke apologizing for being an asshole to campaign staffers, Ron Paul wondering if the US and UK are trying to kill Julian Assange, HBO’s Chernobyl mini-series and Stephen Colbert’s career. They also talk about Shirley Jones, Martin and Lewis, George Hamilton, Olivia deHaviland and much more!
USS McCain and Impeachment by Mike and Troy
This week, Nate and Francis discuss two recent news stories that are painfully dumb but also, surprisingly, relevant to the military. First, we examine the story of Trump’s lackeys trying to forcibly relocate the USS John S. McCain because of Trump’s strong dislike of the guy the boat was named after. We also discuss Duncan Hunter’s recent conversation in which he admitted to shelling civilians in Fallujah during his tenure as a Marine artillery officer. This was supposed to be a defense of confirmed murderbot and Navy SEAL Eddie Gallagher, but it just instigated a collective jaw dropping. Score one for the vaper king himself! Here’s a CNN roundup about the USS McCain thing: https://edition.cnn.com/2019/05/31/politics/navy-uss-mccain/index.html And here’s a Splinter article about U.S. Rep. Former Marine, Alex Hollings is welcomed back to the program and after a brief conversation about life as a reporter and reviewing military gear the conversation quickly goes off the rails. Jack and Alex continue to plan their "epic comic book podcast" with no date set, They quickly divert into topics such as - how pop culture is shaped by mythology, polygamy in foreign countries, the debate between good vs. evil and how the world is really filled with shades of gray, and why the human consciousness might not actually matter. It will not surprise you at this point, but the MSM is far too willing to blindly believe fake news about President Trump. The latest fake story is that the president is so upset about John McCain that he ordered the ship named after the late senator to be blocked from his view. Plus, Chris Cuomo really stepped in it on Twitter with his snide reply to a rape survivor. He's brushing off the mistake, but this is part of a larger trend of journalists shirking their accountability when they make mistakes. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
The Jack Riccardi Show in its entirety. Topics include whether Democrat candidates for president are actually running for president, Mayor Nirenberg getting a lot of extra help from local media, and was the USS McCain purposely hidden while Trump was in Japan?
Right before Christmas, the government was temporarily funded for the fourth time this fiscal year, but this latest funding law came with a few surprises. In this episode, a feisty Jen outlines the law to expose a favor to the war industry, damage to the Affordable Care Act, a bad sign for the Children’s Health Insurance Program, a giant loophole that paved the way for a new mountain of government debt, and more. You’ll also learn about an “uncontroversial” bill that reduces accountability for foreign fighters who abuse women and that showers literal gifts upon a secretive Drug War commission. But it’s not all bad news! There’s also a reason for hope. In the aftermath of Hurricanes Irma and Harvey, even preparedness minded people are asking the question "Are we really prepared for the worst?"Ross and Jill Powell are at Prepper Camp 2017 in Saluda, NC debuting Remnant Canine 360 this weekend. Chris stayed back in South Florida following the hurricane and the recovery effort to do this special broadcast where we tackle the news, preparedness, faith and authenticity. This may be one of the most critical episodes you listen to if you're worried about being prepared and what it's like to be on the run when disaster will strike. In light of recent events, and as a measure of our commitment to Jesus Christ we talk about the entire evacuation and return from these disasters, share a story of redemption, and dig in on having the church and our contract with God (Holy Bible) prepare our hearts for better leadership within our communities. It's now or never brothers and sisters. We either lead our communities or get led by a government wholly inept at serving the promises the politicians have made.
