If you don’t wear decent sunglasses outside, you are asking for trouble. Just ask any eye doctor. Ultraviolet light is bad for your eyes - and sunglasses can stop it - if you get the right kind of sunglasses. This episode begins with a description of what to look for in a good pair of sunglasses. https://www.aao.org/eye-health/news/how-to-choose-best-sunglasses It certainly seems like you are the same person you were 1, 2 or 10 years - but you are so very different. In fact, you are not the person you think you are. Different things affect how you act and what you think. That’s according to David Eagleman a neuroscientist who teaches at Stanford and is author of the book Livewired (https://amzn.to/2PH6eIX). Listen as he explains all the things that make you who you are and how those things continually change who you are. While we are all concerned about what food we eat, it seems we are less concerned about the beverages we drink. Yet, drinks can have a big impact on health and well-being. The sugar in soda and juice, the alcohol in cocktails or the caffeine in coffee - they all impact your life. Alexis Willett, author of the book Drinkology: The Science of What We Drink and What It Does to Us, from Milks to Martinis (https://amzn.to/3gPZ7ck) has researched the common beverages we consume and what the science says about just how good - or bad they are. And she joins me to discuss some fascinating findings you really need to hear. How much you spend in a restaurant can depend in part on the menu. You are probably familiar with the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), but what do you know about the arguably more important National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA)? NEPA is a critical piece of legislation, and each of us needs to understand what it does and why it matters so much. And currently, some major changes to NEPA are being proposed that could have extremely serious environmental and human rights consequences. So to help us understand the high stakes of the changes being proposed, we spoke to Hilary Eisen, the policy director for the Winter Wildlands Alliance. We actually got on a call together and she closed the kitchen door because she didn't want her partner to hear her giving out her credit card to sign up for a program. And in that moment I felt so sad. I felt sad that she wasn't supported fully and that she didn't have the confidence that she needed to really move forward towards her goals. Sometimes, it's just all about you giving yourself that permission in order to move past all the blocks, all the fears, all the insecurities that are holding your dreams hostage. The Bottom Line, Part 1 The 2nd Coming of Christ By Louie Marsh, 6-16-2019 Pictures – last one 70 AD. What It Is…. 1) The VISIBLE/PHYSICAL return of Jesus to earth. 27 And then they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. Luke 21:27 (ESV) What It Means…. 1) God Is In CONTROL. 10 as a plan for the fullness of time, to unite all things in him, things in heaven and things on earth. Ephesians 1:10 (ESV) 9 letting us in on the plans he took such delight in making. He set it all out before us in Christ, 10 a long-range plan in which everything would be brought together and summed up in him, everything in deepest heaven, everything on planet earth. Ephesians 1:9-10 (MSG) 2) I will be held ACCOUNTABLE for everything I do. 27 For the Son of Man is going to come with his angels in the glory of his Father, and then he will repay each person according to what he has done. Matthew 16:27 (ESV) 3) God Will REWARD His Children. 4 And when the chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the unfading crown of glory. 1 Peter 5:4 (ESV) What It Does…. 1) Motivates Us To Use Our Resources WISELY. 13 So he called ten of his servants and gave them ten minas. 'Put this money to work,' he said, 'until I come back.' Luke 19:13 (NIV) 2) Motivates Us To Live a HOLY LIFE. 23 Now may the God of peace himself sanctify you completely, and may your whole spirit and soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. 1 Thessalonians 5:23 (ESV) 3) Motivates Us to Stay FAITHFUL. 28 And now, little children, abide in him, so that when he appears we may have confidence and not shrink from him in shame at his coming. 1 John 2:28 (ESV) 4) Gives Us a true and living HOPE. 13 waiting for our blessed hope, the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ, 14 who gave himself for us to redeem us from all lawlessness and to purify for himself a people for his own possession who are zealous for good works. Titus 2:13-14 (ESV) 2 Beloved, we are God’s children now, and what we will be has not yet appeared; but we know that when he appears we shall be like him, because we shall see him as he is. 1 John 3:2 (ESV) The Bottom Line! Jesus Is COMING BACK, but we don’t know WHEN, so we MUST be READY. 44 Therefore you also must be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect. Matthew 24:44 (ESV)
What Does It Do? This is Sales Copywriting GOLD here folks. Jim and Stew discuss a problem most of us have as entrepreneurs – actually selling our products / services incorrectly. It’s Not What It IS… It’s What It DOES! When it comes to sales copywriting, one of the biggest mistakes people make is getting hung up on WHAT they sell. Not what your products or service actually DO for the people that buy them. Hook and sell on emotion, easing of a problem with anything we sell. We all need to remember that people buy what you're selling based on the desires it satisfies or the problems it solves. As Jim references in the podcast, we don’t just sell tea, a book, or a drill, we sell products that help people ease their pain, solve their problems, or help them reach their goals and dreams. Never forget that. TWO TIPS: First, before you ever start a copywriting, advertising, or email marketing session, begin by answering these three powerful questions. 1) What problem do you solve or desire do you satisfy? 2) Who do you solve the problem or satisfy the desire for? 3) How do you solve that problem or satisfy the desire? By doing this, you’ll put the emphasis where it belongs: on the end result you offer. Most people focus on their product and the fact they want more sales (and FAIL miserably). I suggest you get clear on the result you provide, who you provide it for, and how your product makes it possible for them to get what they want. Second, sit down and make a list. List off at least 5 desires and 5 problems your product or service satisfies and solves for your target audience. Then, next to each of those items write out the EMOTION or emotionally charged outcome tied to solving that problem or satisfying that desire. Finally, next to the positive emotion, write out the emotion or emotionally charged outcome tied to NOT solving that problem or satisfying that desire. How will life feel if they don’t solve this or get this done? Tying the emotion to both the positive and negative gives you incredible power in both your understanding of what you’re really selling AND in your ability to communicate in your sales copy. Bottom line: STOP selling what your product or service IS and START selling what it DOES!

In week three of our series, Closer, Pastor Pete teaches a sermon called, "Divine Breathings" from Psalm 1. In this week, Pastor Pete talks about Biblical Meditations - What It Is, What It Does, and How It Works.
Rev. Dr. Maxine Kaye, talk from January 21, 2018: - Based on Chapter 3: "What It Does" - Spirit is deeply personal; the Law is dependably impersonal - We "court the Presence and direct the Law" - Principle is Limitless, and, as we understand this, our freedom to use the Creative Intelligence expands
Focusing on the classic Science of Mind textbook authored by Dr. Ernest Holmes, Dr. Patrick looks at Chapter 3, "What It Does". He discusses three main points: Energy unceasingly seeking an outlet. This power requires our receptivity. Our embodied belief is the only signal this Infinite Intelligence can and will respond to. If we seek to alter conditions and experiences, then it must first begin with our own consciousness. We practice the releasing the old to make way for the new possibility and opportunity.
What Should You Focus on in Your Marketing Message? What's our marketing message going to be? It's a question faced by every marketer when they contemplate how they'll attract custom. The first step is to recognise the tools at your disposal: your knowledge of your target audience's hopes, dreams, desires and emotions; and your knowledge of your product. Your marketing message connects the two. Here's a 3 step process to follow to get to your marketing message. STEP 1: Identify what the most powerful desire is that can be applied to your product. Every product appeals to two or three of these ‘desire types': Desire type 1 example: arthritis pains versus a hangover head-ache. urgency intensity demand that needs satisfying Desire type 2 example: real discomfort from hunger versus a craving for gourmet foods. staying power degree of repetition inability to become satiated Desire type 3 example: spending £50 to add a gizmo that saves petrol consumption versus spending the same amount on one that merely prevents future repair bills. scope Every product appeals to two, three or four of these desire types, but ONLY ONE can predominate. You can fit only one in your headline. Only one will generate the best results for your campaign from your marketing message when it runs. Your choice among these desire types is the most important step you will take when crafting your marketing message. Choose the desire that will give you the most power across the three desire types. What is your product's single most overwhelming desire that will reach right into the hearts and minds of your target audience? After all, these people are actively seeking to satisfy this desire at this very moment and so your duty is to focus on delivering it. STEP 2: Acknowledge that desire, re-inforce it and (potentially) solve it in a single statement within the headline of your marketing message. The headline is the bridge between your prospect and your product. If your prospect is aware of your product AND realises it can satisfy his desire, start your headline with the product. If he is not aware of your product, but only of the desire itself, start your headline with the desire. or, If he isn't aware of what he really seeks, but is concerned only with a general problem, start the headline with that problem and crystallise it into a specific need. Your headline doesn't actually have to mention your product, it just needs to create that connection to the desire, justifying and intensifying it. STEP 3: Take the series of performances built into your product and show how these product performances inevitably satisfy that desire. Every product has a physical element and a functional element. The former is how it is made, put together, shaped. The latter is the product in action, the benefits that a customer gets from consuming your product. The physical product does NOT sell. It has value only because it does things for people. So the important part of your product is WHAT IT DOES. Yes, the physical composition can help you justify or reinforce the primary performance that you promise your prospect: by justifying price – higher quality materials, higher price. documenting quality – a strong shell of a car, makes your safety claims more credible. assuring performance will continue – quality LED lights will last for 10+ years without change. sharpening the prospects mental picture of performance – with the new Apple X you're getting a larger screen in a smaller package. giving your product a fresh new basis of believability – like Biki, the drone that swims under water with a 4k camera! However, it is the performance of your product and how it satisfies the desire of your target market that counts. Study your product. List the number of different performance it contains and group these against the desire types that they satisfy.
Commission: What It Is, What It Does, How To Get Involved - John Groves - 1400 - 1530 by Commission
Today’s show is part 2 of the interview with Ashlin Hadden of Ashlin Hadden Insurance. We discuss Amazon account suspension insurance. Insurance is an area that tends to strike fear or boredom into people’s hearts but Ashlin has a way of making it all very palatable. Which is good because you really need to know this stuff. In the first part of this interview, we talked about Ashlin’s story and the requirements around Amazon liability insurance for Amazon sellers. Amazon Account Suspension Insurance Ashlin Hadden Insurance has created the first ever account suspension policy for eCommerce sellers (which includes Amazon, eBay, and other platforms) that will help pay your lost income if you’re suspended. This is a Lloyds of London policy, and it’s fairly reasonably priced. The policy is a 90-day aggregate and you can qualify for 250,000, 500,000 or a million dollars in coverage, depending on how long you’ve been in business. How it Works When you get the email to say your Amazon account is suspended, you call the 1800 number like you do with any type of claim for your auto or home or commercial insurance policy. We will get you in contact with an account reinstatement specialist. For example, CJ Rosenbaum who has been on the show before and then have 120 hours to get you unsuspended. You’ll make the contract with them and pay whatever fees there are. You must keep that receipt that you paid because you will be reimbursed up to $500 for that. If they don’t get your account unsuspended within that first 120 hours then the insurance starts paying your loss of income back to day 1 of suspension. This is coverage for your bills, so your payroll, owner draw, cell phone bills, storage fees, internet bills etc. What It Does and Doesn’t Do Amazon account suspension insurance does help you get reinstated as quickly as possible through experts like CJ Rosenbaum. Assuming you do have to use the actual insurance, the policy will cover the ongoing overheads like payroll and internet bills. It does not cover direct lost sales. However, if you’re taking those sales out as an owner’s draw then it is covered. However, you have to show that there’s a loss there. As long as you can show that you’re taking that then it is covered. For example: let’s say there’s $25K revenue, with $10K profit, and $2K for owner’s draw. There’s $8K left that was profit going back into the business. If you’re leaving the $8000 in the business then it isn’t covered that because it’s not a loss. However, if you were to take that out as owner’s draw then the $8000 would be covered plus the expenses. The figures are based on the previous 12 months, so it’s a rolling 12 month period. Exclusions to the Policy By far the biggest exclusions is lying on the application. If you are not completely honest on the application, that will be the thing they look at to deny a claim. For example, if you say you’ve never been suspended on the application, then you get suspended; if they go into your seller central and see that you’ve been suspended before, you will end up with no coverage. Making sure that you’re 100% honest on the application is most important. Violating a prohibited items list on your terms of service with Amazon will also be not covered. Anything you get suspended for that is on that list isn’t covered. The other big one is the intentional violation of the Amazon terms of service. Anybody who gets suspended is violating the terms of service. But it’s the intentional violation that specifically is what is being looked for here. Be honest and making sure you’re following terms of service. Amazon doesn't always make that very clear so it is worth digging through for anything to do with any borderline activity, any grey areas. If you’re going to try to make money with it, if there’s any question whatsoever, you must double check. Other Terms and Conditions This Amazon Account Suspension Insurance is only open to the U.S.
In 1913 outdoorsman Joseph Knowles pledged to spend two months in the woods of northern Maine, naked and alone, fending for himself "without the slightest communication or aid from the outside world." In this week's episode of the Futility Closet podcast we'll follow Knowles' adventures in the woods and the controversy that followed his return to civilization. We'll also consider the roots of nostalgia and puzzle over some busy brothers. Intro: In 1972, a French physicist discovered a natural uranium reactor operating underground in Gabon.
