Scott Ruskan left his accounting job in NYC to serve his country in the U.S. Coast guard, today he is a national hero. It was Petty Officer Ruskan's first mission as a rescue swimmer for the Coast Guard and the Guadalupe river had risen from 3 to 30 feet in the area near Camp Mystic, an all girls Christian camp. On the ground Ruskan was the only first responder and nearly 200 terrified, cold children needed his help. Ruskan, along with 65 brave men and women of the aircraft unit showed their bravery and heroism and are American heroes. Two more attacks on federal agents happened in Texas as deranged lunatics are ambushed agents at an ICE facility and U.S. border patrol facility. L.A. is still descending into chaos as the protests against ICE agents has now devolved into riots and looting. From local jewelry stores, to Apple stores to CVS; looters were smashing through windows throughout downtown Los Angeles overnight. The LA Police Chief admitted they were overwhelmed in a press conference as they are now facing deadly threats from commercial grade fireworks, rocks and bricks. President Trump doubled the National Guard presence and deployed 700 Marines to protect federal assets and employees. Governor Gavin Newsom's response is to sue President Trump. Harrison Fields, the White House Deputy Press Secretary is with me today to give us the White House's perspective as to the chaos in L.A. and Newsom's decision to sue the president. Newsom is desperately trying to "save face" as another epic failure under his leadership plagues the state of California. The department's over bloated funding has not led to better test scores and improved our children's education and Linda is leading the charge on getting our children properly educated. We simply do not have enough time to discuss all the accomplishments President Trump and his administration achieved last week and over the weekend. In Geneva, along with Secretary of the Treasury Scott Bessent and U.S. Trade Representative Jamieson Greer, President Trump was able to reach a trade agreement with China. By May 14th, the United States and China will lower tariffs by 115 percent. Both countries will suspend the 34 percent reciprocal tariffs, while the U.S. will retain its 10 percent fair-trade tariff. This is a huge step in rebalancing the massive trade deficit the Biden administration allowed to take place. In 2020, President Trump put in place an excellent trade agreement with China that Biden did not enforce. President Trump was able to negotiate a ceasefire between two nuclear armed countries, Pakistan and India over the weekend. The president was able to negotiate with trade deals in mind when bringing the immediate ceasefire to the two countries. At home, President Trump reduced drug prices by 30 - 80 percent. By creating a "most favored nation" policy, President Trump is ensuring that Americans will pay the same price as the nation that pays the lowest price in the world. President Trump also secured the return of the last remaining American hostage in Gaza, Edan Alexander. Just as the historic trade deal with the U.K. and the surrender of the Houthis last week, the Trump administration steamrolls an incredible amount of accomplishments over the weekend. The tariffs of Chinese imports are working as a negotiation tool. Well if there is one thing we learned from Jeffrey Goldberg's sensationalized story in The Atlantic is that this trump team is unified and working as a team.
