Ever feel like life's pulling you in a hundred directions—and none of them are the right one? In this episode, we explore one of the most overlooked spiritual life hacks: intentionality.Join us as we hear a deeply personal and practical message from a missionary-turned-pastor's wife, who shares how a simple phone call before a cross-country move turned into a powerful reminder: relationships, rest, and rhythms matter to God.Rooted in Proverbs 21:5 (“The plans of the diligent lead to profit...”) and Galatians 6:9, this message reminds us that faithfulness, not flashiness, is what bears fruit.

This week, we're turning up the volume on resistance and resilience. From nationwide “Hands Off” protests to major political wins in Wisconsin and Montana, the people are making their voices heard. We also honor the lives of Linda Moran and Kaitoria “Kai” Bankz — two trans women taken too soon. In culture, I'll take you to AIDSWatch on Capitol Hill, celebrate TS Madison's game-changing Starter House, and gush over trans love in Survival of the Thickest. Taking Shape: Who Is Supposed to Teach God's Word To the Church?
January 22, 2025 Today's Reading: Joel 2:1-17Daily Lectionary: Joel 2:1-17; Romans 11:1-24“Yet even now,” declares the Lord, “return to me with all your heart, with fasting, with weeping, and with mourning; and rend your hearts and not your garments.” Return to the Lord your God, for he is gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and abounding in steadfast love; and he relents over disaster. (Joel 2:12-13)In the Name + of Jesus. Amen. Joel is a tough book to read and perhaps even a tougher book to understand. Not much is known about this prophet, which is why many scholars have differing opinions on when he actually wrote his book. Whatever the case, the point that we should grasp thousands of years removed from this prophet of God is the same as the day he wrote it.Joel's is a call to repentance, and that is a call that should be heard by every generation. Our text for today talks about the Day of the Lord. This is a day which is quickly approaching; how quickly we do not know, but that shouldn't matter. It could be tomorrow for a thousand years in the making, but the call for repentance is just as valid. We deserve nothing but temporal and eternal punishment because of our sin. We are worthy of nothing except God's wrath and are unworthy of even receiving this call to repentance. But our God does not delight in the death of the sinner. His desire is for all to hear the truth of their sin and believe in His promised salvation. You may hear your pastor read this text on Ash Wednesday. In the season of Lent, the Church is called again to view herself in the light of her sin, but more so, she is called to see herself by faith in the light of Christ. Thanks be to God that He is gracious and merciful, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love. This we see in full on the cross of Calvary. This we receive by faith in Absolution within the confines of the Church each and every Sunday, firmly believing that our sins are forgiven for the sake of Christ. It is God who repents us, turning us from our evil ways and granting us the Gifts of the cross: the forgiveness of sins, life, and salvation. In the Name + of Jesus. Amen.Thy love and grace alone avail to blot out my transgression; The best and holiest deeds must fail to break sin's dread oppression. Before Thee none can boasting stand, But all must fear Thy strict demand And live alone by mercy. Therefore my hope is in the Lord And not in mine own merit; It rests upon His faithful Word To them of contrite spirit That He is merciful and just; This is my comfort and my trust. His help I with with maintenance. (LSB 607:2,3)-Rev. MESSAGE | Dr. Brian Payne (Pastor) "Paul's Co-Workers: People Like Us" Colossians 4:7-18 1 | Greetings From the Fellow Workers Of the Kingdom of God (v. 7-14) 2 | A Word To the Churches of the Kingdom of God (v. 15-18)
In the symphony of faith, each believer holds a unique melody, a distinct harmony crafted through personal encounters and revelations from God. Colossians 3:16 invites us into a communal song, where the word of Christ not only resonates within us but also flows from us, enriching the collective faith journey. This act of sharing God's revelations is akin to adding our voice to the chorus, strengthening the melody of the gospel and uplifting the hearts of fellow believers. Let's explore the transformative power of sharing what God has revealed to us and how this practice fortifies the body of Christ. Our springboard for today's discussion is: Colossians 3:16 - "Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God."This verse underscores the richness of God's word living within us—a richness that is not meant to be hoarded but shared. This sharing manifests through teaching, admonishing, and even singing, all forms of expressing the truths God has unveiled in our lives. It's a dynamic process that not only declares God's revelations but also invites others into deeper understanding and worship. By sharing what God has revealed to us, we contribute to the spiritual growth of the community, weaving our individual insights into the broader tapestry of God's kingdom.Multiple Points of "Focus Training":* Immerse Yourself in the Word: To share Christ's word, you must first let it dwell within you. Commit to regular study and meditation on Scripture.* Cultivate a Sharing Mindset: Approach your daily interactions with the intention to share what God is teaching you. Be on the lookout for opportunities to encourage or instruct others in love.* Embrace Vulnerability: Sharing personal revelations requires openness. Letting others see how God's word has impacted you can inspire them to seek Him more deeply.* Practice Active Listening: Effective sharing is a two-way street. Listen attentively to others, understanding their struggles and victories, to share relevant insights God has given you.* Develop Your Testimony: Be ready to articulate how God's word has transformed your life. A well-crafted testimony can be a powerful tool in sharing God's revelations.* Engage in Community: Join Bible studies, small groups, or ministry teams where the sharing of God's revelations is encouraged and practiced.* Pray for Guidance: Before sharing, ask God for wisdom and the right words to say. The Holy Spirit can direct your sharing to be both timely and impactful. Conclusion: The sharing of God's revelations is not just an individual act of faithfulness; it's a crucial component of communal worship and growth. Colossians 3:16 calls us to a life where God's word not only transforms us individually but also serves as a beacon of wisdom, encouragement, and strength to others. As we let the word of Christ dwell in us richly and share it generously, we participate in the beautiful chorus of God's people, singing His praises and declaring His truths to the world.Call to Action: This week, identify one revelation God has given you and share it with someone in your community. It could be a word of encouragement, a biblical insight, or a testimony of God's faithfulness. Observe how this act of sharing not only blesses others but also enriches your own faith.Question of the Day: What has God revealed to you recently that could encourage or instruct someone else in your life?Let's Pray: Lord, thank You for the revelations You share with us through Your word. Help us to let these truths dwell in us richly and equip us to share them with others. May our sharing build up the body of Christ, encourage our fellow believers, and spread the message of Your love and wisdom. Give us courage and discernment to share Your revelations in a way that glorifies You and draws others closer to You. In Jesus' Name, Amen.As we move forward, may we do so with open hearts and open hands, eager to share the riches of God's revelations. Let our words and lives be a testament to the transformative power of His word, creating ripples of faith and hope that touch the lives of those around us.Join us as a FAITH PARTNER with a monthly gift of just $5, and unlock your FREE RightNow Media account! In this video, we delve into the story of Lazarus and the powerful promise of God. When faced with the death of a dear friend, Jesus demonstrated the importance of shifting our attention from the problem to the promise of the Savior. As Martha, Lazarus's sister, grappled with the loss of her brother, she initially focused on the problem of death, but Jesus reminded her of the incredible promise of eternal life and resurrection. This reflection offers valuable lessons on how to face life's challenges with God's promises at the forefront. Highlights Delayed Doesn't Mean Denied: Jesus intentionally delayed his arrival when Lazarus was sick to demonstrate the glory of God through a miraculous resurrection. Sometimes, God's timing may not align with our expectations, but it's essential to trust His plan. God's Promises Are Our Lifeline: Martha, like many of us, initially fixated on the problem at hand—her brother's death. However, God's promises are there to guide us through our challenges. There are over 7,000 promises in the Bible, and we can hold onto them for strength and assurance. When, Not If: Isaiah 43:1-2 reminds us that God's promises include the assurance of His presence during life's trials. He says, "when" you pass through the waters and rivers or walk through the fire, He will be with you. This "when" signifies that difficulties are inevitable, but God's presence is certain. Shift Your Focus: Just as Jesus encouraged Martha to shift her attention from the problem to the promise, we, too, should redirect our focus when facing challenges. Rather than dwelling on the issue, remember God's promises and the hope they bring. Miracles Happen When We Believe: Martha's confession of faith in Jesus as the Christ, the Son of God, marked a turning point. Miracles and blessings often occur when we have unwavering faith and believe in God's promises. God Uses Our Challenges for His Glory: In the story of Lazarus, God allowed the trial of death and resurrection to reveal His glory. Similarly, the challenges we face can serve as opportunities for God to showcase His power and love to the world. Stay Grounded in the Word: To ensure we focus on God's promises rather than our problems, it's crucial to immerse ourselves in the Word of God. The Bible is a rich source of promises that can guide us through life's challenges. In conclusion, this reflection on the story of Lazarus highlights the incredible power of God's promises. When we face adversity, we can choose to focus on the hope and assurance provided by these promises, knowing that God is with us in every trial. So, let's shift our gaze from the problem to the promise, believing that miracles can happen when we place our trust in God. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/gnbc/message

(Chorus 1) Do you love me? Feed my lambs, Do you love me? Shepherd my sheep, Do you love me? Then give My sheep something to eat. 2 We, like Peter, all have stumbled, Such defeats make our strength crumble, Our once proud hearts become humble, We are so low, In these moments the Lord comes in, Seeking our love and affection, As we listen, we can hear Him Saying to us... (Chorus 1) Do you love me? Feed my lambs, Do you love me? Shepherd my sheep, Do you love me? Then give My sheep something to eat. 3 In these days the Lord is hindered Because of a lack of shepherds Who dispense the milk of the Word To the lost sheep, He needs man's cooperation, To let Him shepherd from within, Will you be one who is open And say to Him... (Chorus 2) Lord, I love You! I'll feed Your lambs, Lord I love You! I'll shepherd Your sheep, Lord I love You! I'll give Your sheep something to eat.

Word To Your Mothers welcomes back guest Maria to the podcast. Maria is a dear friend of host Sondra Doty. Maria helps others by sharing on grief associated with event-based traumas, as well as chronic traumas (special needs, chronic illness and more.) An educator for more than a decade, Maria is a speaker, facilitator and mentor for women's grief recovery; she's led Biblical finances and discipleship groups, and she's a support group leader for mothers and educators. Maria has been involved one way or another in youth and children's ministry for many decades and has a background in business administration, marketing, theological studies, communications, small group development, and education. She loves to read, write, travel and have candid conversations with sincere people. Maria has been married for nearly 30 years and is a parent to three teens and young adults. This episode is part two of the series. Host Sondra Doty and guest Maria continue their conversation around grief and getting the appropriate help-as informed by their own personal circumstances and research. Sondra and Maria explain: We have to be open to getting all kinds of help to gain healing. Gather resources from many different directions and areas. Sometimes, we get stuck on things that don't matter and block us. We can easily get in our own way-preventing us from getting the appropriate help. If you have gone through a traumatic experience, then get help from someone who specializes in that specific trauma. Think of it like this: You wouldn't consult a foot doctor to treat something going wrong with your eyes. Also important is to realize that vulnerability in your grieving helps bring you a community of people that want to support you. Consider how you might be vulnerable and share the best you know how in that moment. What you share helps others serve you well in circumstances they might not have experienced. And for those trying to comfort a person grieving, know that you can easily and unknowingly give too much information- so much that is can overwhelm that person. Give resources when you sense people are ready. Always ask questions first. You don't have to be the end all, be all to people. Sometimes, all you have to do is sit with someone, say nothing and hold their hand. Take care not to judge how people are getting help, as well. For your action step, Sondra and Maria would like to encourage you read the book: What Grieving People Wish You Knew (about what really helps and what really hurts), by Nancey Guthrie Episode Resources: Suffering, Gospel Hope When Life Doesn't Make Sense by Paul David Tripp Trusting God, by Jerry Bridges Psalm 94:17-18 If you love listening to Word To Your Mothers, kindly write a review on your podcast platform or send email to wordmothers@gmail.com Subscribe/Rate/Review Follow https://www.instagram.com/wordtoyourmothers/ Check out WTYM Official Merch! https://www.bonfire.com/store/word-to-your-mothers/ Click below to book Sondra to speak at your group or event. http://www.wordtoyourmothers.com/speaking/
