So this past week I was hired for a private event where I was told to play 70's and 80's disco music for four hours, using just four songs as inspiration. Those four songs were "Private Dancer" by Tina Turner, "I'm Your Boogie Man" by KC and The Sunshine Band, "Borderline" by Madonna, and "Heart of Glass" by Blondie. Here's a selection of some of the songs I played that night — all recognizable hits! The last time we had them on, our fans cried for “more, more, more” of John and Nate from the wonderful Deep Purple Podcast. So in order to calm the widespread le freak of our audience, we invited them back to help us celebrate our 2 year anniversary. When the listeners said of John and Nate “we miss you”, they were serious. So when we ask them to be our guests, we were adamant with the guys that if we can't have you, we don't want anybody else. After 2 years, nobody has told us yet that we got to give it up, so knock on wood, we'll be stayin' alive for a bit longer. This week we check out all the hot stuff from the Billboard's Top 40 Hits from the Disco Era (Broadcast the week of July 7, 1979). This countdown is a reminder that you should be dancing. So get up and boogie and shake your body down to the ground! Cor, it's Parlour time again guys! Welcome to the 14th installment of Stacey's Pop Culture Parlour, this month featuring web comic-ist extraordinnaire and all-round tip-top bloke, Luke Foster! Luke joins Stacey just weeks before swanning off on an adventure around America, so expect an almost tangible sense of envy wafting around this episode... As well as discussing Luke's impending exciting adventures, the pair also ruminate on whether S4 of Community is actually any good, whether Guardians of the Galaxy is worth investigating prior to the film release, why Stacey is scared of Doctor Who re-starting, and why her sister shouldn't call her first-born son Freddie... All this, plus reviews of Babble, Oz The Great and Powerful, Peter Panzerfaust and much much more! Hope y'all dig! Episode Theme - 'It's Getting Boring By The Sea' by Blood Red Shoes End Theme - 'I'm Your Boogie Man' by KC & The Sunshine Band PS. I'd like to apologise in advance for using the term 'female actresses'. I mean, really?! PPS. Happy chocolate-egg-eating weekend! Woot, sugar!
KC and The Sunshine Band was formed in 1973 by Harry Wayne Casey (“KC”). A native of Miami, Florida, KC’s music is a blend of Funk, R&B and Disco. KC’s most well-known songs include the hits "That’s the Way (I Like It)", "(Shake, Shake, Shake) Shake Your Booty", "I’m Your Boogie Man", "Keep It Comin’ Love", "Get Down Tonight", "Give It Up", and "Please Don’t Go". KC’s music continues to live on today through current tours, commercials and movies. My special co-host for this show is my wife, Sharon Aberle, who is a true fan of KC and The Sunshine Band. KC and The Sunshine Band will be performing live Saturday, November 17, 2012, at 9:00 PM at the Tropicana in Atlantic City, NJ. For ticket information please go to KC’s website at: www.heykcsb.com.
