Alyssa Walsh is the owner and founder of Sweet Briar Creative. She's a proud ‘Cyclone' graduate, an Iowa native, and has recently set roots in Kansas with her husband Daniel. Located in the heart of the Flint Hills, Alyssa is surrounded by the pulse of the cattle industry, which fuels her inspiration daily. Together they run Regal Cattle, an operation focused on equipping youth with the tools to succeed in the show ring for a season, & the genetics to build a business for generations. Alyssa started Sweet Briar Creative from the ground up during her time at Iowa State University. The original goals of the business was to display her self-taught videography and graphic design skills to future employers. As the business grew, she leaned on God's calling for her life and took it full-time following graduation. Alyssa moved to Fort Worth, Texas where the business truly had the chance to grow from a college portfolio into the uniquely specialized marketing agency that it is today. Sweet Briar Creative now serves clients all across the country & even worldwide. Since that leap of faith, Alyssa has loved the opportunity to speak on stages near and far about the importance of starting to chase your dreams now, not later. Committed to igniting the entrepreneurial spark in young people, she is enthusiastic about continuing to grow awareness and drive positive change on this topic. Alongside these efforts, Alyssa recently launched a set of digital courses, instructing eager students of all ages how to learn design and video techniques. Above all she attributes her success in business to God's sovereign plan for her life. She hopes that SBC continues to point her audience towards Christ, and aims to keep Him at the forefront of it all. Allison (Alli) Fender grew up in the gorgeous San Diego backcountry on a small Dairy and Beef operation. She attended San Diego Mesa College and played soccer on the women's team while attending the Animal Health program offered there. In 2014, she obtained her Associate of Science Degree in Animal Health Technology and became licensed as a Registered Veterinary Technician. She worked in several small animal hospitals in the area. A month after graduation in 2014, she and her high school sweetheart were married on Mesa Chiquita Ranch, where she grew up. Her dad gifted her and her husband, Bryce, ten bred heifers, which was the start of their beef herd. Flying F Ranch was established in 2020 after Bryce and Alli created the brand and business selling beef directly to San Diego consumers. Their motto is “We Give a Flying F About BEEF.” In 2021, they added Registered Black Angus cattle into their herd to improve carcass quality. The couple learned more about genetics and began breeding more mindfully, propelling their beef business to a higher level. The couple currently sells Black Angus Beef direct to consumer as whole/half shares and USDA retail at local farmer's markets. They recently started offering ranch to table experiences for San Diego locals to come enjoy a 5 course beef inspired meal curated by a local chef. They bring in local wineries and breweries to pair with the menu. The dinners are on open pastures on the ranch with cattle grazing nearby. Bryce and Alli raise their two sons, Warren and Wells, on the ranch together. They believe raising the next generation beside them will teach the young boys valuable life lessons and memories. Alli is an active member and Vice President of the San Diego CowBelles and helps with local Ag in the Classroom lessons, Beef Promotion, and Advocacy for our industry. Alli was selected as a NCBA Trailblazer in 2023 where she learned how to share her story in the cattle industry and gain trust with consumers through her story telling and advocacy efforts. In her spare time, she breeds and shows Australian Shepherds, participates in CrossFit, helps with school activities for her sons, is a dog leader for the Julian/Santa Ysabel 4H and manages the business of Flying F Ranch.  Connect with Alli: Website: flyingfranch.org Instagram: @flying_f_ranch (business), @alli.fender (personal) Facebook: Flying F Ranch, TikTok: @flying_f_ranch Check out PrimePlus Beef Bars: https://primepluswagyu.com/AGCHICKS Ag Gear: https://ag-gear.rfrl.co/egnjj Shop Ag Chicks Merch: https://www.agchicks.net/shop ------------------------------------------------ Connect with Ally Website: https://agchicks.net Instagram: https://instagram.com/agchicks Facebook: https://facebook.com/agchicks Subscribe on YouTube: @AGCHICKS --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/agchicks/support

Starting with a vintage train case, I added some western flair, revamping it into a travel jewelry case. Several ladies on the trip asked me to revamp their grandmas‘ train case with my unique vintage western style. VCC was born.I've been a nurse 33 years and with the Covid pandemic in 2020 I began travel nursing and recognized a need for travel accessories, especially for my cherished squash blossom necklace. Sitting in an airport I designed a squash blossom case to secure and protect my necklace, eventually filing for a patent. I have continued to design and develop western style jewelry cases, travel accessories, and luggage and am so thrilled to now devote my full time to my business with hopes to get my cases into boutiques/stores nationwide. To say that my parents are die-hard Aggies would be an understatement, so naturally, I became academically inbred by receiving my bachelor's and master's as well as pursuing my PhD at Texas A&M. In my masters, I developed an E.coli pig model for human environmental enteropathy (a nutritional disease seen in youth in third world countries) while also managing the Texas A&M swine farm as one of the first female operators at Texas A&M. I have always had a passion for agriculture as I grew up raising pigs in 4-H, was involved in my high school's FFA and competed at horse shows. Through my teaching at Blinn College and working for Texas 4-H, I solidified my desire to connect our youth with the farmers that feed them. I especially love developing culturally responsive programs for minoritized youth that can feel left out or overlooked. More about Caroline: As a storyteller by nature, I really hit my stride by creating content about my passion: the western industry. So much so, I left agency life behind and launched my own digital marketing business in 2019 and haven't looked back. While no two days look the same, you can expect to find me writing, captioning and hashtagging through the workday, sometimes from the back of a cowpony. When I'm not working, I'm bothering my husband, Matt, riding horses or fan-girling over my corgi, Pokey. On this very special episode of Ag Chicks, I sit down with Cassandra, Stefanie, Natalie, Jenna, and Kirsten to discuss the pretty and gritty elements of women in agriculture. Link to Pretty & Gritty Jacket: https://www.tlazytboutique.com/product-page/pretty-gritty-canvas-jacket Link to shop Ag Chicks Merch: www.agchicks.net/shop More about today's guests: We are Cassandra and Stefanie Lepp, 2 sisters who run our family farm in Manitoba with our dad. We also keep him in line at his aerial spray business and do everything there but fly. Ground crew life is one of our favourite times of the year! I finished my business degree in 2010 and Stefanie got her interactive media arts diploma and modelled after high school. But both of us were drawn back the farm and what this lifestyle provides. We share our life on @thetulepps because representation matters and the world needs to know we do in fact look like farmers. Natalie Kovarik is the co-host of the popular podcast Discover Ag as well as the co-founder of Elevate Ag - an online course and community providing producers with the tools they need to successfully advocate and share online. She and her husband live in Central Nebraska where they own and operate Kovarik Cattle Co, a cow calf operation with a growing registered herd. For the past 2 years Natalie has been sharing her ranching and familying story online to showcase the beauty behind the western lifestyle as well as foster a community who supports and trusts in Agriculture as much as she does. Singer-songwriter Jenna Paulette — a cowgirl who came of age amid the gritty realities of ranch life — is part of Nashville's growing wave of female artists who are rewriting the rules and charting their own paths. Her finely calibrated blend of toughness and sensitivity is on full display in tracks like ”Country in the Girl” and “Pretty Ugly”, while current single “Slow Drawl” unleashes the sass and storytelling gleaned from those who precede her: The Chicks, Miranda Lambert, and Kacey Musgraves. Kirsten is a first generation rancHer living on and managing a ranch with her husband in Montana. You can find Kirsten on Instagram as @hashtagranchlife where she shares her journey into ranching, love of western fashion and all things ranch life! When she isn't riding horses or chasing cattle, Kirsten can be found drinking coffee, taking care of her chickens and watching Heartland!
