    Are you a Kinesiologist interested in Research? Learn from one of the original Kinesiologists in Canada who helped shape the profession of Kinesiology. In this episode, we talk with Fergal O'Hagan and learn about his journey into become a kinesiologist, the importance of our profession and how he has helped shape the Trent U kinesiology program. Fergal is one of the OG Kinesiologists in the business. His perspective is very unique starting all the way back in 86' where he was involved in the discussion of regulating kinesiology as a profession. Fergal O'Hagan is a Registered Kinesiologist, academic and researcher. Fergal completed a Bachelor of Science in Physical Education (Saskatchewan, 1984), Masters degree in Adapted Human Biodynamics (McMaster University, 1987), Ph.D in Exercise Science (University of Toronto, 2009), Post-graduate Diploma in Work Disability Prevention Research (Universite de Sherbrooke, 2011) and postdoctoral fellowship (Social Science and Humanities Research Council CURA program). Practicing in the field of occupational rehabilitation with a range of clinical populations for 25 years, he successfully developed, implemented, evaluated and managed rehabilitation programs for acute and chronic disability. He is presently on faculty in the Department of Psychology at Trent University. O'Hagan's research focuses on psychological and social process affecting work disability and the reintegration of workers following sickness absence.     Michelle Jacobs, R. Kin - Family Health Team Michelle Jacobs is a R.Kin and a CSEP Clinical Exercise Physiologist working for the Kincardine Family Health Team (KFHT). Michelle graduated from Brock University with a Bachelor of Kinesiology (Honours) in 2013 and then Niagara College graduate program Exercise Science for Health and Performance in 2014. It took a few years for her to get where she is at the KFHT and each step taught her something about what she wanted out of her career. Her role at the KFHT is to provide exercise prescription for the variety of rehabilitation programs offered as well as run health promotion programs. Working with such a wide patient population challenges her to use many of the skills she has learned over the years. She finds the work very rewarding when her patients make a lifestyle change that helps to manage their overall health. Michelle has truly found her dream job!     In this episode, I interview Sarah Snable, R.Kin - Certified Professional Ergonomist and Co-Owner of PROergonomics. Sarah co-founded PROergonomics Inc., an ergonomics consulting firm, which was established in 2013. She has more than 14 years of experience working as a consultant and as an in-house Ergonomist/Ergonomic Specialist. She has expertise in conducting physical and cognitive demands assessments (PDAs/CDAs), office ergonomic assessments, job matching assessments, and delivering ergonomics training to support her client's ergonomics needs. Sarah holds a B.Sc. in Kinesiology from the University of Waterloo and a certificate in Environmental & Occupational Health from the University of Victoria. In this episode, Sarah tells us how she fell into an ergonomics role, the process to become an Ergonomist and the stigma still associated with being a kinesiologist.     In this episode, I interview Alis Bonsignore, R.Kin and Exercise Physiologist at Cleveland Clinic Canada. Ms. Bonsignore obtained her Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology from the University of Guelph-Humber. While there, she discovered cardiac rehab during a placement and was inspired by the way that exercise and nutrition could alter the state of a disease on a physiological level and help individuals with chronic condition achieve better health outcomes. She went on to complete her Master of Science at the University of British Columbia in Cardiovascular Physiology and Oncology. A lifelong learner, she is currently pursuing her PhD from the University of Toronto in an emerging field of “cardio-oncology. ARTC or Adult Recreation Therapy Centre is a day program for adults and people with health concerns, who need physical, social, cognitive or emotional supports. This includes therapeutic activities for adults with various physical challenges, frail, socially isolated, and those with early stage Alzheimers or dementia in a group setting.
