In the MLM Medicare Advantage Minute we address the following: "Insurers Brought In $50 Billion Through Questionable Diagnoses!" It's an old story that never seems to end; evidence is that MA plans are fabricating "proof" of the rotten health of many of their clients, thereby earning larger payments from the US Treasury! This is known as "Upcoding". In the "Your Medicare Benefits 2024" we take a look at Cardiac Rehab and how Medicare would cover that if your heart problems required serious medical intervention. Then we read a list of the top 20 hospitals in the US which have maintained pricing transparency. In my opinion, that is the last item on the mind of someone who requires hospitalization! Toni King fields a question: Should I purchase a Medicare supplement or Medicare Advantage plan? In the view of this reporter there is only one answer to that question. A client writes to ask what his Medicare supplement's next premium increase is likely to be and whether it would be time to do some shopping for a better price on a different plan, maybe using the Nevada Birthday rule? Finally, consider the likely increase characteristics with Plan G as opposed to High Deductible Plan G as the years pass. In this episode, we dive into why movement is essential as we age and how the habits we build today will shape our quality of life in our 60s, 70s, and beyond. After working in Cardiac Rehab and Assisted Living Communities, Kris discusses the risks associated with a sedentary lifestyle, from diabetes and heart disease to cognitive decline and osteoporosis. We also share personal stories about helping our parents embrace movement and the gradual steps they took to improve their health. It's truly all about regression and progression, lowering the barrier to entry and meeting each person where they are, even if it means starting with the basics and working around pain points/past injuries. This episode is a reminder that it's never too late to make positive changes; our parents are living proof that with consistency, anyone can improve their energy, strength, and resilience. #017 Listen to how Donna started & grew her pilates cash based business. Alternative career to pilates cash based business. “It's funny when you make the right connections. If you have an idea or a book you think is worth it, contact them! You have nothing to lose!” Donna Gambino is a Physical Therapist with 30+ years in the field. She went to Wayne State University in Detroit, and after that, she moved to Cleveland, where she got a job at a clinic thanks to a Cardiac Rehab internship she did. After a while, she started struggling with the job because there wasn't enough staff. She decided to change to another clinic, but after a year, she saw the same problems, just in a different location: more patients, less help, and promised bonuses that never came. In our conversation, Donna told us about how she got to the point where she had to start brainstorming about what she could do to help others. During this time, she discovered Pilates and decided to look into the certification programs, and she liked it. After that, she was encouraged to write a book while training in Pilates, and everything just fell into place. She finished the book and self-published it; she decided to leave the clinic and started to offer Pilates classes. She started with one class, and after a while, people began asking her for private sessions. She then decided to open a studio at her house, apart from the group classes. In our episode, Donna told us about how she created her team by just networking in her area and how she kept promoting herself with all the struggles involved with self-employment. She still wanted to use her PT experience to help others reduce pain, have a functional life and do what they like. She was able to do this through Pilates.Catch this new episode of Rehab Rebels out now on Spotify, Apple Podcast, Google Podcast and all podcast platforms available. For links and show notes, head to:https://rehabrebels.org/017Start your Rehab Rebel Journey!Receive access to FREE monthly progress updates, interview schedule, and a BONUS Top 25 Alternative Careers List for Rehab Professionals when you Start your Rebel Career and be part of the Rehab Rebels Tribe!Join us on Instagram and Facebook or your favorite social media @rehabrebels!Subscribe through Apple Podcast or Spotify!Support the show

SHARON — Sharon Hospital has earned its initial Primary Stroke Center certification from The Joint Commission in collaboration with the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association. This approval demonstrates the hospital's commitment to meeting rigorous standards of care for stroke patients, an announcement from the hospital said. A Joint Commission certification team evaluated Sharon Hospital's stroke program including diagnostic and treatment protocols, support services for patients and caregivers, and continuous clinical performance improvement measures. The independent reviewers determined that the hospital consistently achieves standards of care — such as safety, time to treat and patient education upon discharge from hospital — resulting in improved outcomes for stroke patients, the announcement said.

Violence Is A Disease .... The Occupational Safety and Health Administration reports of nearly 25,000 workplace assaults reported annually, 75% occur in health care and social service settings and workers in health care settings are four times more likely to be victimized than workers in private industry. A 2014 survey on hospital crime attributed 75% of aggravated assaults and 93% of all assaults against health care workers to patients or customers. Beth Duche, RN, told police that Mark Ryan, MD, forcefully grabbed and squeezed her neck in October 2018 after she asked him to stop turning off recovering patients' vital sign machines. Another nurse said she saw the attack. Dr. Ryan, who previously cited "alarm fatigue" as the cause of his outburst, pleaded guilty to one felony assault charge of strangulation as well as one misdemeanor assault charge. His sentencing is scheduled for June. Beth Duche RN joins us to share her story. Beth has been a Registered Nurse for 23 years. She started her career in Med/Surg, then began floating between ER, ICU, Cath lab, SNF, Cardiac Rehab and ended up in PACU in 2001. She fell in love with surgery ( but did not want to be an OR nurse). Prior to the assault, she worked in PACU for 17 years. THIS IS A MUST LISTEN EPISODE FOR ALL NURSES AND HEALTH CARE PROFESSIONALS!
