Pat Quinn is a consultant and a keynote speaker. He has stood on the biggest stages and conferences and spoken to some of the largest audiences all around the globe. Pat started as a professional magician and worked magic for 10 years professionally until he decided to teach math in high school for 10 years. Speaking and changing lives, Pat is now teaching as head coach for Advance Your Reach in the last five years. Here are some power takeaways from today's conversation: The 2 words that are most misunderstood The common mistakes entrepreneurs make How to communicate consistently well to your customers The elements that make up great stories Episode Highlights: The 2 Words Most Misunderstood: Speaker and Stage The two words that are most misunderstood are probably speaker and stage. Everybody who owns a business – or who works for a nonprofit or has a cause or a message that they believe in – speaks about it and communicates about it. And you're either doing it intentionally well or you're doing it accidentally very poorly. A lot of people are also scared of speaking on a stage. But you're on the stage every single day – whenever you call someone or speak to someone at Starbucks, or on your kid's soccer field talking to other parents – that's a stage. You can accidentally stumble your way through it and get no new customers out of it. Or you can intentionally improve that communication and turn every conversation and every opportunity to talk to someone to impact the lives of someone else with your business, and with how you help people every single day. The Common Things Entrepreneurs Struggle With Lack of clarity The biggest mistake that people make is they don't have clarity on the problem that they solve for people. Nobody wakes up in the morning waiting for your system, or what you do. People wake up every morning with problems. So what is the problem that you solve for people? And if you don't have clarity on that, you're not going to tell a great story. When you have clarity, all of your communication improves. Not speaking their language. The second mistake that people make is that they explain that problem or what they do in expert language. They start to change our language when we become really smart on one topic and use different words. Instead, you should spend less time trying to get the person you're talking to to understand you, and more time making sure the person knows that you understand them. That is speaking their language. What Makes Great Stories Rule #1: Great stories are ordinary. Rule #2: Great stories are short. They should never take longer than two and a half minutes to tell. 3 Parts of Best Stories The Before - 60 seconds to tell them 3 things about what happened before The Pivot - 30 seconds to tell them what changed The Now - 60 seconds to tell the 3 things that changed after the pivot --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/erikecabral/support

The Elite Advisor Blueprint®: A Podcast for Financial Advisors
In today’s episode of The Virtual Financial Advisor Series™ Pat Quinn returns to the podcast. Pat is a presentation coach and the head speaking trainer for Advance Your Reach. He has worked with some of the greatest speakers in the world including Daymond John, Grant Cardone, Dean Graziosi, Michael Hyatt, John Ruhlin, and has helped over 1000 financial advisors increase the effectiveness of their presentations. My previous conversation with Pat is one of the most listened to episodes in our archive, and people still tell me often how much his framework for successful presentations has helped them. This is why I knew I needed to bring Pat back to the podcast for the Virtual Advisor Series to discuss how to take what makes an in-person, physical presentation so effective and utilize it in the digital space. Here are 3 of my big takeaways from this episode… #1: How to adapt Pat’s proven live presentation framework to work even more effectively in the digital space. [11:28] #2: The major mistakes financial advisors make in both physical and digital presentations. You’ll learn exactly how to keep your listeners engaged in an environment full of distractions, and the specific things that need to change to avoid tone-deaf messaging. [23:05] #3: How to adapt your speaking style to reassure listeners and project confidence in times of crisis, no matter who you’re speaking to. Welcome to Inside the Greenroom, This week I wanted to cover something a little different than usual and start off by saying we are going on hiatus from what was supposed to be the third part of our series. I will intertwine some of it in our episode today but I wanted to be honest and say that because of the state of the union that was called, thousands and thousands of events that were going to take place across the world had to be canceled and we lost millions of dollars as a result. So, that part is the reason you have not heard from us, but also I wanted to share with you today the vision of us wanting to redefine how events were done virtually. While you can never replace people being in the room, we must find a way to make lemonade out of lemons so this episode is completely dedicated to the fact that I believe we have pulled off a powerful and meaningful, a redefined, virtual event. I am going to cover just how we managed to pull this event off, and not only how we doubled our lost revenue but tripled the number of people who would have attended our live event. You do not want to miss this episode, because it has some need to know information on how you can get an unforgettable experience out of a virtual event whether you are an attendee, sponsor, or speaker. I want to challenge you to innovate and recreate what virtual events look like right now, we have done it, and we want to show you how you can too. So, 40 days ago we were hit with the fact and the reality that we'd be canceling our April 30th through May 2nd event in Orlando, Florida. We had over 1100 close to 1200 people registered. We had never been over the thousand-person Mark. We had worked nine to 10 months to get to that point. Now, we recognized as a team that the virtual economy was here and made the decision that we were going to redefine how to do events virtually. Now nothing can ever replace seeing people in person, but we had an important opportunity and responsibility to take this time and make the next category in events. As you’ve heard we called the state of the union, and we actually did a training and during that training we told all of the attendees who showed up like that we were going to create this experience, and we coined the name Advanced 360 Interactive, and we called it 360 because we wanted to engage 360 degrees of all of their senses. We wanted this to be the most interactive, engaging, easy, powerful, and experiential event we could possibly make. I said this 40 days ago, and I wasn’t even sure if we could pull it off! We set the ball in motion that day announcing it, then worked on getting tickets transferred from the event they were going to attend to this new virtual event. We were lucky enough to get about 700-800 people to transfer their tickets, but we wanted to take it even further, so we ran a challenge and I want to expand on that challenge in a later episode but when it was all said and done we had 3,100 tickets claimed or paid for. We almost tripled our attendance size from our live event! Now we knew it was imperative for this 360-degree experience to start before the actual event so I painted a picture and my team in conjunction with Sage Events, who I am so thankful for, we’re able to pull together a sort of pregame to the event which started with every attendee getting something physical in the mail. First: Every single attendee received not the only curriculum and a workbook, but my team also took it even a step farther and had little emojis on a stick, “do not disturb” door hangers, and even recipes that were quick and easy for the attendees to be able to put their best foot forward. Because of this, you start seeing all these social media posts about how they received their package for the 360 events, it created a ripple of engagement. Second: We wanted to create pre-work, and usually, pre-work is a lot of technical speaking so we made sure to give only three short videos that got their mind, and spirit ready for the upcoming event. I wanted there to be an easy way for them to show up powerfully and have the best experience they could possibly have. A lot of that was overcoming the attitude to just being in another zoom room and painting a picture of what the experience was about, how they needed to be checked in, get dressed, and keep their camera turned on. By doing this we created a powerful pregame experience that had people looking forward to the virtual event instead of dreading it. Third: I want to just say how thankful I am for Sage’s involvement because we had a virtual check-in. Just like a live event, we had people click a button, get notified by email that they must check in during these hours on this day and people actually did the check-in. They, of course, signed off on their waiver just like at a real event then after they were taken to a room with a live person to take them through a tech check, which helped them know how to use their dashboard which held any curriculum, the game of education, and any handouts that needed to go out. They had zoom links for everything they need whether it was VIP or general admission. So because of this check-in, they were able to find everything they might need right there in their dashboard. Of course, there was some overwhelming numbers and there were small groups but it usually one to one person. So, they got a whole experience jus through the pregame of the event, it brought exciting expectations and allowed for the attendees to show up in a powerful way. Onsite: Then, of course, you have the Onsite, which is one of if not the most important part to be able to pull off. The thing that made it so easy was the dashboard, the option for them to find everything they might need right there in front of them. Then we were able to set up 16 different “rooms” that held about 200 people each, and with some sort of connector, we had the same audio and video pumping simultaneously through all 16 rooms. Here’s the beautiful thing, I was on a physical stage, with four cameras pointing towards me. I had these big monitors that displayed about 500 people at a time, and it just scrolled through everyone as I spoke. So, now I was literally able to interact with these people on the screen, I could see cheering, clapping, excitement, yelling but here’s my favorite part. I was able to call out a thousand names throughout the course of three days, I probably called more than that because I wanted them to feel as if they were in the room. I have never, and there is no way I would be able to do that in a live event. Sessions: I’m sure you’re asking, how else can you make it interactive and I’ll tell you the actual format of every session, the sessions remained the same as they would in a live event, two morning and evening sessions on the first and second day, two morning and one afternoon session for the third and the format stayed the same for almost all those sessions. 35 minutes of speaking and inspiration After that, they would move immediately to a breakout room of 5 people 10-20 minutes they would work on the worksheet on the teaching they just received 10-20 minutes of conversation about the activity and workshop. 10 final minutes back in the big room to share “aha” moments This can be done for business stuff, but this can also be a meditative activity so if you don’t feel like what you have would fit. It will, we even had a letter-writing session, that allowed our attendees to meditate on what their business would like in a year. We brought them back in for a final 10 minutes where we hear five big “ahas” from maybe 10 of those rooms. It lasted about 90 minutes in all, so we kept engagement by keeping our sessions shorter and making them more interactive. Now, let me tell you something of those three days 90% to 95% of people stayed the entire day, I don’t even get that at my live events, and even better than that we got some amazing testimonials where a common theme was how this was the most powerful virtual event they had ever experienced. For many, it was the most powerful event they had ever experience…period! I’m telling this because I want you to know your event matters, they can change lives, businesses your event can change everything for someone. I urge you, if you are an attendee that missed out on an event this year go find a virtual one, we have set a standard for virtual events now and there will be many to come that you can gain so much from. If you are a sponsor, there are opportunities for you, we had rooms full of coaches and sponsors, so innovate and figure out how you can help bring together a powerful event. Speakers, you don’t have to try and jump in on another event you can create your own event! Host an event that will changes lives, and businesses, you have the perfect platform to do so right. Now. My team is rolling out services to help corporations, events, and industries understand how to do this because we have documented this whole process. We knew that we were going to pull off events, organizations, and associations. It’s time to step up It’s time for us to create It’s time for us to innovate You don’t need to grind because we have for you, but are you ready to pivot? I leave you with these questions, to challenge yourself to create and innovate your industry. What are you going to do if you are an attendee that didn’t get to go to an event? What are you going to do if you are a Sponsors to innovate? What are you going to do if you are a speaker to not only be on the stage but create your own? `· What are you going to do to pivot? We are here to lead the charge and lead the way, so I want to encourage you if you want to have any conversations about what we can do to help just email katie@advanceyourreach.com. Whether you’re trying to fulfill a mastermind, a bigger event, smaller event, or anything in between getting the 360 interactive experience is critical and it works in 40-50 days. Connect with us! Facebook: www.facebook.com/advanceyourreach Website: advanceyourreach.com Email: info@insidethegreenroompodcast.com Welcome to part one of a very special new series of Inside the Greenroom! In lieu of what's happening in the world today, this might be the most powerful thing that we’ve ever done on the podcast… Most of us have never experienced something like this in our lifetimes, and my heart goes out to those in the event industry - which is taking one of the biggest hits at the moment. Events all over the world have been either postponed or cancelled, including several I was either running or going to speak at. We also went through this very difficult time back in 2008. At the time, our company had a lot of momentum, events were booming, and it came to a screeching halt. I saw many speakers with powerful messages exit the industry, and I don’t want that to happen again. I’m very happy to say we got through it back in the 2008 recession, and had a breakthrough year because of how we were able to adapt! In this multi-part series, we’re going to discuss how to pivot and thrive in our business during hard times - because we understand the impact it’s having in the speaking and event industry, and we’re sharing the same struggles you are. I’ll be talking about things we did to overcome the financial crisis during the recession 12 years ago, and also what we’ll be doing NOW at Advance Your Reach to navigate, and boom as a company. We’ll be speaking on behalf of the major stakeholders in the events industry. In part one, we’re going to cover 8 strategies that are going to help you navigate, win, and boom in this industry as a business owner speaking on stages. Enjoy! P.S. - Make sure to visit advanceyourreach.com and get your hands on multiple FREE gifts and resources we have for you to navigate through this crisis. Plus, stay tuned for part 2, coming next week. Here’s what we cover: A major opportunity happening in the offline events world right now, and how to capitalize on it What you should be expanding in the midst of the COV-19 crisis (this will help you to not be so reliant on one source of income, and it will help you truly change people’s lives) The business model of speaking, and the different types of stages you can add into your speaking portfolio The different types of digital stages you can double down on (in 2019 we were on over 100 digital stages, and the amount of collective revenue was greater than 99%+ of what professional speakers earn every year in speaking fees) The #1 offline stage you should research and win once the virus dies down (these will be full of attendees once things settle down!) How to create a “win-win” situation for events by helping them offset their expenses, while being able to generate revenue for yourself An overlooked but very powerful stage you can finally begin to build out and promote while you have the time to do so How to serve your meeting planners during a time of uncertainty and worry (meeting planners who control offline stages are greatly impacted by the virus, doing this will go a long way!) And much more! I’m all about sales and margins. Even as a kid, I was on the golf course gathering up golf balls and selling them on at a great margin! Today, I’m just as focussed on getting that profit because I am working towards financial freedom and living the life I want. I have clarity and commitment to my end goal. But, often, as business owners, it’s easy to lose sight of that and become bogged down in prioritizing the wrong things. You get caught up in expenses and don’t put aside profit. Suddenly it comes to year end and there’s nothing in the pot. My guest this week, is Rocky Lalvani. He moved with his parents from India to the US when he was very young. They worked incredible hard to achieve the American dream and make themselves a success. But, when Rocky’s mum died when he was just 7 years old, instead of breaking him down, he found inner strength that helped skyrocket him to financial success. Today, Rocky helps business owners reassess their outlook on life and start prioritizing profit in order to get the life you want to live. He believes that business owners need to reverse that equation of “sales – expenses = profits” and turn it into “sales – profit = expenses.” Once you stop seeing profit as a leftover after expenses and making profit a priority, you get off that roller-coaster, you start making tougher choices on your expenses and margins and you start working towards financial freedom. Find out about: How to stop thinking of profit as a leftover and get in the habit of prioritizing and setting aside profit Why you should start with how you want live your life, first and then get your business to fit the life you want to live Focussing on chasing profit as opposed to revenue Creating clarity on what you want and working towards financial freedom Not running from your dreams when someone digs at you and showing them what you’re made of If you want to check out the book Rocky was talking about, it’s Profit First, by Mike Michalowicz (https://www.amazon.co.uk/Profit-First-Transform-Cash-Eating-Money-Making/dp/073521414X/ref=sr_1_1?crid=3VYAXVR8271QS&keywords=profit+first&qid=1576674827&sprefix=profit+fir%2Caps%2C146&sr=8-1) . Which receives most of your efforts: Building your income or building your wealth? Today’s episode (and next weeks) focuses on how to maximize your income and focus on “the short!” “If I had no money and no contacts, this is exactly what I would choose to create a substantial income from scratch”. Roland Frasier 1 Public Speaking - Whether you’re keynoting for cash or selling something from the stage. 2 Product Launch Affiliate Marketing - The second safest, fastest, low-cost way to increase income is, which he hones in on today. To dig in further with Roland, sign up on our home page for exclusive content from Roland to your inbox. We’ll be dropping another sit-down interview this Wednesday, so take a moment to subscribe on Apple Podcasts. Listen Today For Roland’s Affiliate Marketing Playbook How to do this in a much easier way that most people try How Roland made $14k on his first attempt doing this and took home $840k in 6 days on one campaign Listen to why he wouldn’t make a business out of this! Roland’s recommendations for learning more and who to follow. 15 Steps To Product Launch Affiliate Marketing Success 1 Get in early and sign up as soon as you hear about the launch. 2 Purchase domain names that match the product names as closely as possible. 3 Purchase domain names followed by the name BONUS and the same with the word BUY in front of the product name. 4 Also buy domain names that have the product name with the numbers 2, 3 or 4 after it. 5 Create multiple simple sites on different server companies with the different domain names that you’ve bought, and with different email addresses, accounts, admin names, and different credit cards and physical addresses. You’re effectively creating your own private blog network, to get SEO juice. 6 Create several different long-form articles for each of those sites and get links from as many high-value sources as possible. Yes, this still works. 7 Create an amazing bonus package to offer everybody who purchases through your affiliate link. 8 If the product price and commissions permit (as long as the margin exceeds the cost of the thing you’re giving away), consider adding a physical product that is in high demand currently to your bonus package. Try to find something everybody wants but they can’t justify buying for themself! 9 If you can’t include a physical product bonus, consider offering a pre-paid digital product that will help them. 10 Approach people that own lists of potential buyers for the product, where the owners of the lists are not planning on participating in the affiliate launch. Where you handle all the work, but you split the commissions, 50/50. 11 Set up a phone number to put up on every email, ad, and communication. It really makes a difference that people can talk to you. 12 Build an on-demand webinar to send prospective buyers to. 13 Create 30-50 (few minutes) YouTube videos and show yourself using the product and doing a product walkthrough. Plus, if you follow YouTube optimization strategies you can OWN this. 14 Monitor feedback from customers and visit offers from the top 20 leader board - offer anything they’re offering and upgrade it! So your bonus is the obvious choice. 15 Get into as many groups as you can, tell all your friends, buy FB ads, google display ads, retargeting ads…Be omnipresent! Most importantly, pick something that has a high dollar amount! If you do most or all of these steps for a HOT product launch, it will be very difficult for you to not sell 1-5 products. The more you do this the better you’ll do, and you can see how you could add some great Short term income to your books. “I can’t count how many very land rich or asset-rich friends and acquaintance got into financial trouble because they were TOO focused on the long term and they ran out of the income to support their wealth building… And there’s also the chance that the long game you’re playing might not have a chance to play out. Life might have other plans for you.” Roland Frasier Referenced In This Episode Pete Vargus, Advance Your Reach Contact & Follow Roland On Facebook On Instagram Through his Website Follow Business Lunch Podcast On Instagram On Twitter Thanks so much for joining us this week. You’ll be getting something that was previously NOT available to the general public or the podcast, and it has to do with the power of stages. At the very end of 2015 when I was launching Advance Your Reach, I went through a lot of ups and downs trying to get this company off the ground. I was known as the “Stage Whisperer” and had spent 13 years helping other people build their businesses with stages… But the ironic thing is, I was trying everything BUT stages. Why? First, I was scared to speak. I had been the wizard behind the curtain helping others, and even though I knew the power, I still resisted being the guy on the stage because of fear. Second, like so many entrepreneurs, I got distracted by all the bright, shiny, and trendy marketing mediums out there. Looking back, they were great tactics - but it was just not the right time to implement them. Once we FINALLY implemented stages into our business, everything changed for us. At the time of this writing, we’re right around Thanksgiving. I am GRATEFUL for stages. Over the past 20 years, stages have transformed my business and life, and I know it can do the same for you. For that reason, this episode is dedicated to the power of stages. Here’s what we cover: Why stages are recession proof (you’ll believe this when I tell you how long they’ve been around compared to other marketing mediums) Examples of famous leaders, entrepreneurs, coaches, and service providers who have used stages to grow their businesses How stages can shrink the sales cycle to 60 minutes or less How Karen Worstell quit her job and crossed the 6-figure mark with stages Why a successful entrepreneur friend of mine would rather be on stage with 25 people than have 1 million views on a Facebook video The typical conversion rate you see when making an offer on stages versus online Why your niche or industry is NOT different, and why you can make stages work no matter what business you fall into Dispelling the “famous myth” for those who feel you must be well-known to land your dream stages The definition of a dream stage, and how it can change your business forever (as it did mine) And much more! A big mistake we’ve made in the past at Advance Your Reach is running a BIG event WITHOUT having a big community or following. We did them...but they were HARD to fill. Since then, we advise clients not to run their own events until they have a community established. However, in this episode, Pedro Adao proves us wrong! He filled seats for his first event WITHOUT having a large community, and spills the beans on how he did it – IN A VERY NICHE MARKET!! We also cover the economics of filling seats through paid advertising, the content you should bring to the table for live events, and how to be a great guest speaker! Pedro Adao is the author of The Finished Life, and Retired and Free. He is the founder of Fortress Financial and of The 100X Academy, a movement of Christian Entrepreneurs who desire higher levels of income, influence, and impact throughout their life and their business. Pedro has been a long-time friend and joined us at Reach Live 2019 as a judge at the speak-off! We also cover: How Pedro filled the seats for his first event WITHOUT a large community or list (note: he essentially broke one of my “rules” for running your own BIG events, and pulled it off. Learn how!) The magical power of creating a sense of “community” online BEFORE the live event date The harsh reality of selling tickets online with paid advertising The type of content you should be bringing to your own event that will make an audience WANT to show up live! Public speaking can be a very powerful way to get your message across to a larger audience, but how can you feel more comfortable doing it? Public speaking is a big, big fear for a lot of people and today’s guest can help you connect with people from the stage. Pete Vargas helps people grow their business with stages. He and his team have booked over 25,000 stages worldwide and in 2016, he founded Advance Your Reach, an organization looking to impact one billion people through one million stage appearances by 2027. Pete lived with his grandmother when he was in the 6th grade due to the awful relationship he had with his father. Despite attempts at reconciliation, Pete decided to look elsewhere for role models. He looked up to inspirational heroes like Emmet Smith and David Robinson, who inspired him to become a better man. After Pete graduated college, he ended up giving up an $80K/year career opportunity in Dallas for an $18K/year salary to become a youth pastor in his hometown instead. He decided he was going to use a wide variety of speakers, everything from athletes to CEOs, to help inspire the youth group to become a better version of themselves; the same way he was inspired by these very individuals. Why does Pete refer to his work as ‘stages’ instead of public speaking? Pete believes there are too many war stories that come from the word ‘public speaking’ whereas stages is a much more approachable way to conquer your way into public speaking. The reality is there are a lot of full-time speakers out there who are on the road 220 days a year, but you don’t have to be a full-time speaker living in an airplane or hotel room to get your message heard. Stages are a way to grow your business, grow your movement, or grow your non-profit. There are 8 online stages and 8 offline stages that you can be on. When you are able to look at public speaking in a holistic way, it can completely transform your organization, your sales process, and the way you see your business… all without burning you out! My name is Kyle Gray and today on the show we have Caleb Guilliams. Caleb is an author, as a speaker, and the Founder of Better Wealth Solutions and he is changing the game of wealth management for many different entrepreneurs. He has a really unique story because he is much younger than your average financial advisor and as such has many different disadvantages and some unique advantages with his age and his position that he's going to share with us, which is going to be really, really valuable information for anybody who is new to entrepreneurship, maybe is younger and wants to break into entrepreneurship. How can you overcome big challenges? Where is the best places to be spending your time, your energy, and your money? He's got a lot of incredible insights that I think are going to be valuable for you today, so without any further ado, let's turn it over to Caleb. Kyle Gray: Caleb Guilliams, welcome to The Story Engine Podcast. Caleb Guilliams: Oh my goodness, dude, thank you so much for having me on your show. It's such a pleasure. Kyle Gray: Caleb, you have a fascinating story and I'm really excited to get into many different aspects of it, but I want to introduce you properly by asking you the same question I ask all of my guests. Can you tell me about a moment or a time in your life that has really defined who you are and how you show up in the world? How you make an impact in the world today? Caleb Guilliams: That's such a great question, and really I'll take you back to 12 years old at Riverside Bible Camp, Central Wisconsin. I'm 12 years old, I'm dyslexic, so I'm not a very competent reader and super short for my age, but I have the kind of personality where people like to be around me anyways. We have the last night. Everyone gets together and we have talent shows and I at 12 years old have a small little role because I'm kind of nervous on stage and so I have two lines that I can memorize, but Kyle, I wrote them down just in case I forgot because I could actually get away with reading them. Caleb Guilliams: I remember that night, getting up there and totally forgetting my lines and then going to read and sounding out every single word in front of the whole group of people, and while no one probably remembers that but me, I remember being totally defeated. Going to my Mom the next day just frustrated at my reading, about my height, and just kind of at the end of my rope at 12 years old. My Mom took me under her wing and said, "Caleb, you can't do anything about your height, so learn to laugh about it. There's genuinely nothing that you can do, but your reading, you can control that. You can do something about that." Caleb Guilliams: Then, that really got me in the mindset of the things that I can't control, don't worry about, but there's so many things in our life that we can control, the things that we can control, like go all in. I go back to that and I'm so grateful for my Mom and how much she believed in me and how much she encouraged me and I'm doing what I'm doing what I'm doing now because of that mindset of like we can control a lot of things and why don't we go all in in that? Kyle Gray: Well, and I'd add to that your 12-year-old self, if you could go back into the past and tell them what you'd be up to now, you would have blown your own mind. Can you tell us a little bit about how this lesson has shaped you? What are you using it today? How are you impacting the world? What does the world look like for you now? Caleb Guilliams: Thanks for asking that. One of the my Dads... one of my Dads, my one and only Dad, what he taught me was to be proactive. My Dad is in the science industry and he really taught me to be proactive and I'll say that and that idea of taking control of the things that I can control really shaped who I am to this day because what happened was I went on from Riverside Bible Camp to go gut chickens, and my first job was working at a chicken farm. That got me into like the whole money game and we could probably talk about an hour's worth of stories just there. Then, I got a job at a bank at the age of 17 and I worked there for four and a half years. At that time, I did everything I could to figure out different ways to make myself more valuable, and I ended up taking over the investment department at the age of 19 years old. Caleb Guilliams: That really threw me into some crazy opportunities, and again, it went back to proactiveness. I'm going to do the very best thing. I have a mission that hangs on my wall that states, "To help people see and reach their highest potential." How can I truly help people? I just became fascinated with how money works and how people viewed their lives and how people just view themselves, and that's what got me on this obsessive like road trip, roadmap kind of deal of like, how do I learn from the best people? Garrett's been on your podcast, right? Kyle Gray: Yes. Caleb Guilliams: He's one of the guys that I admire so greatly and look up to. How do I learn from people like that and truly help people live out their highest potential? Use money as a tool and that two-and-a-half-year journey didn't happen overnight, but it was because I started taking control, was proactive. I'm so grateful that my two parents taught me that, and now at 23 years old, I run a company called Better Wealth Solutions and we help people all around the country take back control of their money and we do that through education and implementation. If you would have told me at 12 years old that I'd be talking to you right now, doing what I'm doing, I wouldn't believe you at all. Kyle Gray: That's powerful stuff, and just in case anybody listening, the Garrett we are talking about is Garret Gunderson, and we've got a video interview with him, but really brilliant wealth advisor. You've experienced some interesting challenges so far. Now, when I was 22 years old, I got a job at the University of Utah working as a study abroad advisor, and it was really, really challenging. As a 22-year-old looking like a college student to deal with... I had maybe a dozen and a half of professors of various ages and statutes and egos that I had to deal with and draw boundaries with and say, "Hey, if you're going to go to Spain, you got to do these things. If you're going to go to Africa, you got to talk to me." I had to own up to that to the same people that a year earlier I was taking classes from. Kyle Gray: It's a big challenge to be able to stand in your power at a relatively younger age, and I think especially in finance where this is a market that's very conservative, very slow to change. As a result, this is typically an industry that is dominated by older men. How do you navigate these challenges of staying in your power in an industry when they expect to see a financial advisor they see probably somebody who looks different than you? Caleb Guilliams: This will mean a lot more for those of you watching us doing this interview because I look like I'm 15 years old, and if you could imagine, I call it The 10 Minutes of Horror when I first took over the bank's investment department at 19. People coming in and realizing that I was going to be the one helping them with money, I think they were having an internal panic attack. It's always been something that I've had to kind of work around, and I'm so grateful for that, man, because what it's allowed me to do is it's allowed me to have to be the best in the industry of what we're doing. Caleb Guilliams: I've learned from experts around the country and they are like the best at what they do and I've learned from them, number one, because of my age. I was able to get in and download their secrets kind of deal, but then the second thing is what I had to learn when I was in front of clients is, "Listen, I want to help you get the results you want to get and I want to understand, number one, what result looks like for you and what does financial success look like for you. If I as an individual can help you get the results that you're looking for, that's financial success." That's success in our book. Caleb Guilliams: Even at 19, 20 years old, I had people in my office. I'm going to the white board and I'm drawing Simon Sinek's Start With Why Idea. Like, "Listen, I could talk about products and if we do that we're going to go down some bad routes because I don't know everything." I didn't tell them that, but I was like, "Products are not the most important thing. Even how you become wealthy is not very important until we understand your why." One thing that I'm pretty good at and I'm continuing to hone is like when people come and work with us, they feel taken care of and that we really get down to why this matters to them, and then I call it The 10 Minutes of Horror because when people start working with us, they get to a point where they're like, "Okay, you're understanding where I'm coming from and now you're actually pretty competent, too." Caleb Guilliams: People don't care how much you know until they know how much you care, and as clichéd as that sounds, we really do live that. Now, I'm 23 young, but I wrote a book, I have a course out there. I speak around the country. I have seven team members and we're growing, and so right now we have enough social proof. We have enough people that are endorsing us. We have some really cool opportunities and business partners that it's like that's been less of an issue because people are going us because they've read my book, because they have seen me on YouTube or heard me speak. Early on, when I had no credibility, it was tough and I had to go back to people don't care how much you know until they know how much you care. You actually have to know your stuff on the back end. That makes sense. Kyle Gray: That makes so much sense, and that's something really useful and really empowering to anybody just getting started in any kind of career or new endeavor. One of the things that really caught my attention, you just briefly mentioned this before you got into this, but you were able to get mentors and experts and download all of their secrets. Can you tell me a little bit about this? What did that look like? What does that mean? Caleb Guilliams: I've been interviewed a lot and you are the first person that's ever asked me this, and I will say I credit what I'm about to share with you the reason why I have success right now. I read Think and Grow Rich and I was reading also Robert Kiyosaki's Rich Dad Poor Dad, and it became very evident to me that money follows value. It also became very evident to me at 19 years old that I didn't have a lot of value that I could give to people, but I also knew at a local scale I would go to networking events and I would go and I didn't even have a business card. I would right my name on the back of one of our banker's cards and it was caleb@gmail.com. It was like I cringed that I gave out my email like that. Caleb Guilliams: I would go and I would introduce myself to people and I would learn a couple of things. Number one, everyone would talk to me because who's going to be the jerk that doesn't talk to the kid who look's like he's 15? Everyone is going to pretend at least that they're interested, and then number two, people really do want to transfer their knowledge. Then, number three, this is like a bonus, I would ask them for lunch. I would be like, "I'll take you out to lunch, pick your brain." None of them would let me pay, so I got a ton of free lunches out of the deal and I started sitting down locally with CEOs, top people from our university, the CEOs that would run different companies, and I was thinking like, "Wow, this is amazing", and then I'm like, "Why isn't everyone doing this?" Caleb Guilliams: When I took over the investment department at 19 years old, I just took that on a national level. I just read books. If someone reaches out to me, I will talk to them. Most people aren't as big of a deal as you think they are, and I just started looking at leaderboards, calling authors, looking at people that I admire and just asked them and I would just share them the story. I would lead with my why. "I want to help people see and reach their highest potential. I have no clue what I'm doing. You're the best. Could I learn from you?" Caleb Guilliams: It's like the compound effect. I was nervous at first, but then once you start getting some of these amazing people that care so much about you, oh my goodness, man. I am where I am today because of the many people that went before me and gave me 30 years of wisdom and experience in two weeks, and I'm super grateful for that. Kyle Gray: It's a huge advantage. It's something I talked a lot about and wrote about in my first book The College Entrepreneur. I called what you described there as The Student Card, and it's not just to get a discount on your next Subway sandwich, but it's just approaching somebody as a student leader, literally or figuratively, and it works really well if you're young. Kyle Gray: It still works no matter where you are, but because of your why and what you're doing, but I feel like people do feel a certain sense of satisfaction when they can share their knowledge with somebody. It's also pretty rare to find people that are actually somebody of 19 or 20 years old who would be willing to say, "Hey, I'm actually interested in more things that getting most of my homework done and playing Xbox." Caleb Guilliams: Yeah, two things- Kyle Gray: Go ahead. Caleb Guilliams: Supply and demand. The supply is super low. There's not a lot of people that you're going to be competing with, and number two is one of the best compliments you can give someone is asking for their advice. When I figured those two things out, and like you said, I loved the name that you gave that. Kyle Gray: How did you reach out to some of these people? Was it just through email? Were you using creative tactics to make these connections? Caleb Guilliams: Right. I use LinkedIn, and one of my favorite stories in this is a dear friend of mine, Ross Morgan, who's a great friend of mine now, I reached out to him and he was someone that I wanted to learn. I wrote down like, "This is the guy that I want to mentor me." I remember I reached out to him on LinkedIn and he calls me and we're like five minutes into the conversation, okay, maybe 10 minutes... We're like 10 minutes into the conversation and I go, "I'm going to ask him if I can come stay with his family." The guy has no clue who I am. I'm in Birmingham, Alabama, and so I ask him. Caleb Guilliams: I was like, "Listen, man. I have a conference that I'm going to." I wasn't going to that conference, but if he said yes, I would get to go to that conference. I was like, "Listen, I'm wondering if you know anyone in the area that I could stay with. I don't know anyone from Birmingham and I would just love to learn from you" He was like, "Well, man, I really like you. I'm going to talk to my wife and see if we would be open. We don't really know you. We have young kids. Let me get back to you." He hung up and I'm like, "Oh, no. I just blew that up." Caleb Guilliams: He called me back like a week later because I followed up with him, because that's another thing, you need to follow up because no one is going to reach out the first time. He was like, "You know what, Caleb? I can't believe we're saying this, but we're going to let you come over. My wife is a little bit nervous, but we'll just see how it goes." That week was the turning point in my career. I did go to that conference, but after leaving with what I learned from him, I wouldn't be where I am if I didn't have that uncomfortableness, and I was just LinkedIn and a phone call, and I always will try to get a number. My pitch is to get them on the phone because I knew my unique ability is if I can talk to someone for 10 minutes, they'll want to help and they'll hear my vision, whereas it was harder for me to type that out. Kyle Gray: I think so, and I love that tactic and that strategy and that connection. I'm certain that whatever the price of the conference was, just being able to stay at his house was worth the cost of the ticket on there. Caleb Guilliams: A hundred percent, man, 100%. Kyle Gray: Another thing you mentioned that was really important and really crucial was your follow-up, and managing follow-ups can be a challenging and tedious task. How do you keep clear on everybody in touch with? Who do you need to follow up with? Who do you need to keep in contact with? This is a really, really important skill. Caleb Guilliams: It's so important and it's really where the money is at in whatever industry you're in is follow-up. I would say up until a year ago, it was all in my head. It was terrible. I would drop the ball all the time, but I have this ability. I always work, so I would kind of like get away with not having a system, and now we have a CRM system that we use .. you're actually in the CRM. It's every relationship that I have, I put a follow-up. Maybe it's six months from now, but it's like, "What's the next step?" When that day comes, we address it and then I also personally have an assistant and it's kind of like you'll hear everyone say that. Caleb Guilliams: You might be someone listening to this and be like, "I know I need an assistant but I don't know if I can afford one." I'm telling you, just by having someone that helps you not let follow-ups slip through the cracks, it's 100% worth it. For me, now I do have a CRM and I have someone to help me follow up, and that's the most important thing that I can do as a CEO of our company is making sure that I'm working on the wildly important and making sure that I'm following up with the people that we have relationships with. If I'm doing those two things, our company will be more profitable and will impact more people. Kyle Gray: I want to get even more granular with this. With our assistant, maybe she is writing emails for you, but I imagine that she's probably looking through this system and keeping things tracked and organized. How could somebody who wants to hire an assistant to help with this... What are some of the key ways that they can work with this? Caleb Guilliams: A couple of things. Sometimes when I'm talking to someone, when you know someone introduces you to someone, like, "Hey, let's get together"? There is so much wasted time that goes into trying to schedule a meeting, so we use Calendly, and I also will cc my assistant on those meetings or those responses and say, "Hey, Kyle, it's great to meet you. I'm connecting you with my assistant and she is going to help us find a time that works where we can connect." Then, there may be some emails that get exchanged. Caleb Guilliams: Then, in our business we have our A list and then everyone else, and everyone is important, don't get me wrong, but we have the people that are really important to our business but everyone is important, so everyone deserves a follow up. Bethy my assistant is in my email and she is responding to some people on behalf of me or starting emails that need my approval. Caleb Guilliams: We actually meet every day in the morning and we go over what's wildly important and then who we need to follow up, and then I report at the end of the day on what I did or what I didn't do, it's very intensive, and by the way, the first month, you're going to feel less productive, but as you know you've got to train someone to kind of figure out how you think which is kind of scary when you think about it. When you have someone in your email flagging things and responding to 80% of the messages that don't necessarily need your response, you get to focus on the wildly important. Kyle Gray: How do you get clear on what's the wildly important for you? Do you have a process to track that? To think that? To come up with that? Caleb Guilliams: Yeah. We have what's called WIG Meetings, Wildly Important Goal Meetings, where as a company we communicate what is important to the company and then every single person communicates what the most important thing that they can do this week to go to the bottom line. Our big vision as a company is we want to insure a million people by 2025. That is super audacious. I don't think we're going to be able to do that alone, but that gets me focused on figuring out, "Okay, whatever I'm dealing with, if it's not helping us go into that bottom line of helping a million people get insured by 2025, what am I doing wrong?" It gets me clear on the big picture, but then our mission is more happy clients. Caleb Guilliams: Our goal as a company is we want more raving fans and we want to figure out a way to capture more of them and make them happy. That's our WIG and within that what I can do, what my Wildly Important Goal within that is building relationships with affiliates, having meetings, and following up. Those are the three things that I can do and then working with our marketing department to build like copy, build videos that are leverageable, so the word for me is leverage. What can I do once? What podcast can I get on that us having this conversation is going to go out to more than one person? That's for me, and then there's other people in our company that their Wildly Important Goal is to do X, and by them doing that, that's going to allow everyone to be able to help us get more happy clients. Kyle Gray: You mentioned earlier... you gave us some advice if you don't feel you can afford an assistant, just go for it. That's more or less paraphrasing that. You said it better than I just did. Anyway, that is like an example of a scary kind of leap forward investment that you can make that at first is you can feel it in your stomach and you're like, "I don't know about this", and then like in six months or 12 months, or maybe even less time, you're like, "Wow, that was a really good move." Kyle Gray: What were some of the investments that you've made in your business journey growing your team, growing your practice? Maybe at first you were like, "Oh", but turned out to be some of the best moves. Caleb Guilliams: Can I go back and actually go through like a quick process that you could go through listening to figure out if you should hire an assistant or not? Kyle Gray: Sure. Caleb Guilliams: It's all about Pareto's principle. The 20% of the work that we do usually produces 80% of the revenue. If you're an entrepreneur, if you're thinking like, "What's the most important thing that I do that actually produces the majority of the revenue?" The cool thing is, figure out what tasks that you do and then put an hourly wage on that. For instance, I could speak on stage and that brings in 80% of the revenue. I could say that speaking on stage is like a $5,000 day for me versus filling out paperwork, which I'm not even good at. I could hire someone to... pay them $20 an hour if they could do that job. Caleb Guilliams: For me, I had to get really clear on, "Okay, what was I good at? What is the value to our company?" You got to take yourself out of it because we're so emotional and there's that sickening feeling of like, "Oh, can I afford that?" If my day is worth $5,000 and I'm doing $20 an hour work, wow, we are holding back our mission. The idea that I had to do was stop doing the things that you can do... if someone can do 80% of the job just by them doing it, then you don't necessarily need to do it, especially if it's that kind of work that drains you. For me, it's I had to get clear on that and then it was really like, "Okay, this is an investment." Caleb Guilliams: The other thing that, and I'm now answering your question that you asked, is one of the beliefs that I 100% have is especially as an entrepreneur, you are the greatest investment personally, like you, and your business or whatever that you're working on, whatever project is number two or number one investment. We have to value ourselves. What I found is so many people devalue themselves. They might be investing in other retirement accounts, but they're starving their whole business. They're starting their ability to produce. Caleb Guilliams: In growing, and this has been from day one, I have seven people on my team. How in the world am I able to afford seven people? Well, it didn't happen overnight. It was every decision and it comes down to people. For me, it was the people I surrounded myself with and the things that I invested like Advance Your Reach, like different conferences and masterminds. It's like, "Man, is that really worth 10K to go to that thing?" Well, then I would go and meet a person that would change my life. It's one of those things where after looking back, coaching is super important and the people in my life are super important and they help me be more productive and produce more and we've made more money year after year even though we're spending more money. Caleb Guilliams: Garret Gunderson probably talked a lot about this in your interview. That's a very abundant way of thinking about your life versus the scarcity of like, "Oh, if pay for an assistant I'm going to have less money." Well, you have to see everything as an investment, and maybe as sad as that sounds, everything that we do has a cost to it or an opportunity cost to it and if I'm going to put $50,000 in this investment I want a rate of return of X. What's a typical rate of return? If you're 10% you're happy, right? Kyle Gray: Yeah. Caleb Guilliams: Well, if you invest in an assistant and you can double your revenue as a company, you start doing the math on that. It's like, "Man, why are you investing in other things you don't understand when your business is starving?" Kyle Gray: That's powerful and I think that's a really challenging for people to master, especially with lots of different kinds of information and philosophies on how to spend money out there. I think an entrepreneur needs to be kind of quite deviant from the normal narrative of that. What are some of the biggest money myths or maybe mindset blocks that a lot of the people that you are working with have experienced? What do you try to reinstall once you uninstall those? Caleb Guilliams: That question is going to get me going, so you'll have to hold me back. The biggest thing that I hear entrepreneurs say or creatives is rate of return. They go down that road with me. Like, "Well, I can get a better rate of return in X, Y, and Z", and I've gotten very clear on this that ROR for me is return on result. As an individual, that's why I think it's so important about someone's why and what does financial success actually look like for you? Most people listening to this don't actually know what they want. Once we get clear on that, then whatever we do with our money, if we don't go down the shallow like, "I can get a better rate of return in this investment versus this and so that's why I'm going to decide", no, what do you do with your money that can give you the best result? Caleb Guilliams: The biggest pet peeves that I have is number one, is people turn off their brain when it comes to efficiency. We are told to be efficient with our time. We have amazing things like cell phones and cars so we live in a world where we're fishing in some areas, but we don't even think about wealth efficiency. That's number one. Number two is we let the rate of return totally control our lives. If something will give you a better rate of return, we totally turn off our brains and say, "Okay, that's awesome", versus taking it and reverse engineering it and being like, "Well, actually I need to invest in an assistant because I could maybe get a 10% rate of return here or I could double my revenue over here." Caleb Guilliams: It's like we turn off our brain there, and then the third area is so many people don't value themselves, and so as a result they don't value control. We live in a world where people are controlling one side of the coin and making their money, and then totally giving up total control after and it makes us enslaved to the system. Over and over again, people don't put a rate of return on anything other than the percentage or the growth rate, but we need to start putting a rate of return on safety, control, end game legacy. Once we start doing that, and I have 16 ideal benefits to doing a perfect investment, once we do that we just start seeing a bigger picture of how money works and less about just one little function. Caleb Guilliams: I'm going to hold back, but those are like quick overviews that get me going. Kyle Gray: Tell me about some of these 16 benefits. I'm sure like more money and, like you were saying, rate of return is one of them. What are some of the unexpected or often overlooked yet very unimportant benefits? Caleb Guilliams: The ability to leverage your savings. Banking is the most profitable business in the world and think about, what do banks do? They control our capital and they use leverage and they're making billions of dollars off of our money. No one has ever talked to you about how you could be a banker in your own life. One of the things is like, "What's the value of leveraging a dollar that's going to continue to grow the rest of your life?" What's the value of having safety of your dollar? What's the value of having lifetime growth versus retirement growth? We don't think about our dollar growing to 85, but it's like a dollar today is not just worth a dollar, it's what that dollar could have been the rest of your life, so that's key. Caleb Guilliams: Another thing is like the term of velocity, money in motion. We live in an economy where money needs to move in motion, and just like a pool that's stagnant, it's gross and not great, that's where people's monies are. You look at the institutions that are really winning, businesses, banking, Wall Street, they're like money is constantly in motion. The person that can control that velocity of funds will always become super wealthy, and so that and then also just getting really clear on, what does a result look like for you? That is really profound because if you can get in an ideal world, financial freedom is where I can live life, blink, blink, blink, on my terms. If you get really clear on that and you reverse engineer what that actually takes, it takes a lot less money and it takes a lot less than you think if you are smart and efficient with your money. Kyle Gray: That's really, really powerful. Getting clear on the why, you've come back to this a couple of times. This is where you started in the bank. This is where we're coming with your current clients. Tell me is this something that you work on with people right away? Is this kind of the first step? What are some of the questions you ask them? How do you get clear on this why? Caleb Guilliams: First question we ask is, "If money wasn't an issue at all, what would you be doing?" Then, we ask, "Why did you give that answer?" We will ask another question. It's, "What does financial success look like for you?" This question I didn't ask right away, but it's been something that we've incorporated because what someone will say on the one hand they'll say, "Oh, I want to do this, this", but then all we're talking about is how much money they want at retirement. Well, it's like, "What does financial success actually look like?" Caleb Guilliams: Another question that I learned from Dan Sullivan is this idea of like, "Okay, in five years where you have the best five years of your life, what happened? What went on?" It's getting them to think future pacing, it's getting them to think about what the future could be, but then also for us to be realistic. It's like, "Okay, what had to happen for that to be?" I also within that creating their why, "What do you love about what you're currently doing? What do you not like about what you're currently doing?" Those questions, like the future questions but then also the present questions, ultimately you need both to formulate your why. Kyle Gray: I think that's really important, and I think too few people really incorporate their why and even things like.. Where can I make the most impact? Where is my $5,000-an-hour contributions land? This also has to line up with, "What brings me energy? What is something I can wake up and be excited to do?" A lot of us I think, taking in there is so many gurus, I've seen so many lectures, so many articles, so many everything, and there's a lot of great strategies out there. There's a lot of great ways to grow a business, to spread your message, to create a brand, to do whatever you want to achieve. If it's not the right alignment and fit for you, then even if it's an excellent strategy, it's probably not what you should be doing. Kyle Gray: Personally for me, I think one of the best investments I've been making in the last year or so is definitely getting clarity on like work, and I make my highest impact, and where can I work in a place that doesn't feel like work? Kyle Gray: Caleb, we've explored a lot of different areas of communication, of follow up, of storytelling and for kind of finance. We've explored a lot of different things and it's been a lot of fun. Do you have any closing thoughts to leave our audience with today? Where can we go to learn more about you? Caleb Guilliams: My closing thoughts is this. I had a dear friend who is like a second father to me that I thought was going to live forever and passed away this last year of cancer, leaving his family of three boys and his beautiful wife. One of the things that he encouraged me is to cherish every moment and be intentional with the days that we have. Kyle, I've found that most people are not intentional, and it's just we don't think about that. Something happens when you think about death and you think about as fun as life is, there's going to be a day, and I don't know when that day is, but there's going to be a day that's going to be done. How do I want to show up? What do I want my funeral to be like? Caleb Guilliams: The quote that I'll end with, is by a guy named Andy Stanley and it's like profoundly changed my life and I heard it when I was 14 years old. It was, "The value of your life is always measured by how much of it was given away." The value of your life is not measured in the successes, the trophies, the money. It's about the value of your life is always measured by how much of it was given away, and to have that mindset and be like, "Wow, I want to live a valuable life, and so I need to give of myself and give of our services and have that change people's lives like that", that's why I'm so passionate and love what I do. That's the closing thought is like we only live once. Let's be intentional with the times and talents that we have. Caleb Guilliams: I would love to connect with anyone. I wrote a book called The AND Asset, and someone could get a free copy, andasset.com, and then our website is betterwealthsolutions.com, and then I'm on all social medias. If you guys reach out to me and said that you listened to this interview, number one, thank you, and I would love to connect with you and hear your story. Kyle, again, I feel so grateful to be here with you. Kyle Gray: Likewise, Caleb. You've shared a lot of wisdom with us today and it was so much fun discovering what you are doing and you're a genius. Getting speaking engagements is a big deal for entrepreneurs because it does amazing things for our reach. How does speaking solve many issues in the space of lead generation and marketing? What does it take for us to build a system that leads us to the stage and also allows us to scale past it? How do we figure out what our ideal stage is? On this episode, Pete Vargas shares his amazing story of entrepreneurship and fatherhood, as well as how we can use speaking to generate new customer acquisitions with a predictable system. A dream stage is defined by the majority of the people in the audience being your ideal client. -Pete Vargas Things We Learned From This Episode 1. The moment Pete fell in love with the stage and saw the power of speaking (07:26 - 09:47) After having a difficult relationship with his father for years, Chris became a youth minister. His ministry helped a lot of people through counseling and great speakers. There was one particular speech and message that caused Pete to experience a turnaround. His relationship with his father was healed because of that message that was the day, and Pete became passionate about the stage. 2. How to speed up the sales cycle (22:54 - 24:16) All business owners have to one-on-one conversations with potential clients, so why not turn that into one-to-many conversations through the stage? Instead of talking to one person and dealing with a long sales cycle, we can create a talk that is phenomenal, drives content home, and delivers the message to hundreds of people. This can expedite the sales cycle significantly. 3. Why being good on stage is only one third of the whole game (24:57 - 27:17) There are 3 things that go into making sure being great on the stage translates to more business: being good at the speaking, getting ourselves to the stage, and then scaling past the stage. All three of these need to be dialed in for it to work. There’s no question that being on stage will advance our businesses. People are buying from people they trust. Considering that the online space is crowded and people are craving real connections with the people they buy from, getting in a room with people and having their undivided attention is so powerful. There’s so much value in having a face and a story to tell, creating trust, helping people and being impactful. If we want to create that killer talk, we have to think about more than the stage. We must consider the systems around what we do and the products we sell. We have to build our talks based on the steps we take to move our clients from ordinary to extraordinary. (1:30) Lead collecting (8:40) Where to get One Hour Launch Workshop (14:00) Quotable Moments: "Facts tell and stories sell." Important Links: OneHourLaunchWorkshop.com/dave ---Transcript--- Speaker 1: 00:00 Welcome to funnel hacker radio podcast, where we go behind the scenes and uncover the tactics and strategies top entrepreneurs are using to make more sales, dominate their markets, and how you can get those same results. Here's your host, Dave Woodward. Everybody. Welcome back to [inaudible] Speaker 2: 00:18 radio. I am your host Dave Woodward and I am so, so excited. I've got a dear friend of mine I want to bring on and the reason I want to bring him on his. I was actually out at his event and while I was there and I rarely paid to go to people's events anymore these days, but this one we actually paid to go to because of the value that I wanted to make sure we got from him and while I was out there at his event, I wanted to make sure that I had him on my podcast so he could share the same types of things with you and give you the opportunity to actually get involved with something like this. So without any further delays here, I want to bring on a dear friend of mine, Mr Pete Vargas. Welcome to show bud. Hey Man, I'm excited to be here. Speaker 2: 00:56 Thank you for having me. I'm stoked and just absolutely love you man. Well, I am so excited. Again, for those of you guys just don't know Pete. He's got a company called advance your reach. It's actually why we went out. A lot of you guys have heard. We actually are in the process of starting our own speaking team and even though Russell spoken on literally hundreds of stages and we've done literally thousands of Webinars, I was, we started looking at trying to systematize actual speaking and using, speaking to build our business. I thought there was no one better that I could bring on than Pe. So I flew myself and Chris who runs Chris now runs our, uh, our speaking team, flew him and myself and miles out to Colorado to spend three days with Pete and his team to learn really about how do you land stages, how can you use stages in your business, how can you actually use a stage to build your business by providing massive value and really you state using. Speaker 2: 01:47 For us, we're looking at using stages to scale and I know for a lot of you guys who are in the situation or listening to podcasts, some of you are sitting there going, I don't know. I haven't even. I've never done a stage presentation. How would I do that? Pete's going to answer that for you today. For those of you guys who were in Russell situation where you sit there going, the last thing I want to do is actually get on more stages. He's going to tell you how you can actually create a speaker team like what we're doing and do the exact same thing. Again, I'm you guys don't want to hear from me. What you really want to hear from is my friend who I'm so excited to have on the show. Again, Mr Pete Bargas. So Pete, let's kind of talk about what you refer to now as this one, our launch. Speaker 2: 02:19 What the heck is a one hour lunch? Yeah, so let me just tell you that one. Our launch, we're the one hour launched was birthed for me, like that's an important piece to understand. I, as you know, as a youth pastor and I brought speakers in because I didn't want to speak on the stage and so I brought these speakers in and I remember showed up my first Wednesday night. There were three kids there and I thought, how am I going to grow my youth ministry, which is going to be equivalent to how you're going to grow your business. And so what we did, Dave, is I brought in speakers and in one hour I saw my kids get so moved and inspired that they, the youth group just continued to grow, grow, grow, grow, grow. We went from three kids to 750 kids in a town of 12,000 from bringing in over 30 over the course Speaker 3: 03:00 of four years. And our youth group just grew. And I saw the magic in one hour on a stage and the action that my kids took. One of those speakers, as you know, his daughter was the first girl killed at Columbine in 99. And he came and spoke and he came and he said, you know, there's five people that you need to let them know how much you love them because you don't know how long they're going to be here on earth with you. And I couldn't help but think any said some of them you're not in good standings with. So he, I couldn't help but think about my dad. I hated my dad because of what he had done to me. And so growing up as a kid. So that night I begged my dad to come back to the 90 defense and all of a sudden at the night event, my dad came back. Speaker 3: 03:39 He heard the speaker speak. We had tried for a decade. Everything, counseling church, his siblings constantly saying, you got to make things right with your son. And in one hour on a stage, one hour on a stage, it prompted my dad to write me a letter and say, I'm sorry for the father up then here my son is having an impact on hundreds of kids lives and I can have an impact on my only son's life. And he asked me for a second chance to do things right. I called that man, now this is important for the list because I said, dude, you did something in one hour that nothing could happen that put my head in the last decade wouldn't happen for my dad, which is a lot like our business. We tried so many things that don't work or they take forever to work and in one hour things can change as you get on a stage. Speaker 3: 04:23 So I called him and I said, why aren't you getting this out there to everybody? He's like, I'm trying this, I'm trying this. I'm trying this, who's trying a lot of things? And I'm like, get on a stage with your ideal clients in the crowd for one hour and watch what begins to happen. I don't know what the listeners, ideal crowd, they know who it is, but his ideal crowd was principals and superintendents. That's what his ideal crowd was because they were the decision makers who controlled the budgets. So the very first stage I put them on, I was like, Ooh, I hope this works. And because I figured out how do I land this stage, how do I make him great on the stage and how do I make sure that this is one of the biggest customer acquisition channels that exist because that's where he's going to change their lives. Speaker 3: 05:03 So I got to my first stage, I worked my system back in 2003. I've been working at cents 500 educators in the room. We couldn't make an offer. Five hundred educators in our later 450 of them were turning in a physical piece of paper, what we call a contact card because we lead collected by giving away a free gift for 150 are turning in papers. And in the next two weeks, 70 to 80 new clients paying three to $5,000, just shy of a quarter of a million dollars in one hour in the last year, struggling with everything in this business. He had done $52,000 in the last year. Now here's what happened with him and it's very much like Russell, very, very much like Russell. He started getting big. It started being recognized in the educational system and he couldn't be that, so a lot of you out there solo preneurs or if it's just you on your team and you're trying to really be like, what could I do it start with stages like Russell built click funnels with being on Webinars, you know, he did webinars, there's offline and there's online stages, but here's what happened with them and what's happened with Russell's. Speaker 3: 06:09 He got too busy and he couldn't be on all of the stages that we're requesting for him. So what did we do? We created a presentation that duplicated past him. We told the stories to company's story on the front end. We talked about the content. Everybody shared the same content in the middle, but at the beginning of the presentation we mentioned the company story and then how the company's story connected to the speaker and then the rest of the presentation was the same for every single one of those speakers. Dave, before it was all said and done, not only did he grow the organization from $50,000 to $7 million in the educational system, which might not sound like a lot on an annual basis, but they don't have budgets. Speaker 2: 06:49 That's huge. It's huge. Speaker 3: 06:51 Fifty two speakers out in any given year, sharing one presentation for one hour driving business, so whether it's somebody who wants to do it on their own and go to attract more customers, or if you're like, man, I'm like Darryl and Russell and I don't want to be on the road anymore. I get too many requests. Then build a team of people that can go do it, but here's what stages does it expedites the sales cycle in 60 minutes. A lot of people, it might take them six, nine, 12 months to consume 60 minutes of content online, but when you've got a captive audience, it's called the one our launch because you've got their undivided attention for 60 minutes and we know what can happen when you get on a stage for 60 minutes. Speaker 2: 07:33 I love it and I think people part I love the most is for one, your passion behind this. I get chills. I've heard you tell that story. I think six different times that I can think of about you and your dad and I get chills every single time because you have this ability to put yourself back in that actual moment to actually experience and have the person who's listening to you experienced the same feelings, the same raw emotions that you were going through right then and it's such a skill set that I think too often a lot of us getting this idea as far as you start telling instead of of of actually sharing and telling stories and as you know, you don't have joked all the time as far as you know, facts tell and stories sell and you're a. You are the master at when it comes to actually getting stories that have impact for people to then use those stories in their, in their presentation to connect with people. Speaker 2: 08:23 And that's one of the things I love and I was out there to readmit learning from you and just seeing the way that you are so good at connecting with people beat. The one thing I know that a lot of our listeners, they've heard about this whole perfect webinar script from Russell for forever. And so we've talked a lot about webinars. The one part I want to, if you don't mind kind of address is this idea as far as how you made mention that they were able to delete, collect meaning collect when you typically couldn't sell. Most everyone I know when they think of going to speak on stage, it's a 50 slash 50 split. This is one of the things you kept slapping me in the face. And Dave, hey wait, there's Speaker 3: 08:56 more, there's more. You actually can make more money not selling directly on stage. So if you don't mind kind of explore and explain to people how they actually can use that to build their business when they can't sell. So when you can't sell, there's two things that you're either in your presentation, your co, the we have, uh, we believe in your presentation that you start with the heart and you connect with people you teach and while you're teaching, you're embedding and you're sharing case studies and you're doing all of that. You're basically selling during the year, but you're teaching, you're teaching. But then in the call to action, the only difference between when you can sell and you can't sell as you're either collecting order forms, you're collecting leads when you can sell your collecting order forms. And that's the speak to sell world. And it's only one of four types of stages that you get. Speaker 3: 09:39 Five types of stages that you can get on the speak to sell world. When you can't sell, you're collecting contact information by giving away a free gift. You give a free gift the way that gets them from a to B, not a to z because nobody's gonna read your book and nobody's gonna go look at your slides, but they will consume a piece of content for 10 minutes that will move them from a to b and when they see that piece of content that moves them from a to B, how to get a date in the next week, how to rent your house and save $10,000 a year, how to go when your first stage in 24 hours and they get that a to b all of a sudden how to build a funnel and in in one day or 10 minutes, you know when they get that a to b, they're like, oh my God, that's his or her aid to be what is going to be there a to Z. Guess who the A to z is here, the ADC and so after that free event, you're following up for 10 to 15 days with automation, with click funnels and you will begin to see sales close. Speaker 3: 10:39 If it's a low ticket item, it's all automated. If it's a high ticket item, it's phone calls and one of the things that I get the biggest compliment for today on three different interviews, they said, Pete, you opened our eyes to the fact that I can't believe I never thought I could use a stage to sell an eight, 15 or $25,000 product. And then I saw you do it. I just did it at Jj Virgin's event. We couldn't sell in our first session date. We had a hundred and 10 people in the room. We gave free gift away. We did strategy sessions on site. We did 105 strategy sessions out of 110 people in the room and we saw 40 of them go deeper with us and then in the next two weeks we saw another doesn't go deeper with us. After that, you know, another 10 or 12 go deeper with us after that. Speaker 3: 11:29 That's an unbelievable stage. And guess what, there's no splits. You know, there's no splits and that's the beautiful thing. And so I love the five types of stages. Yes, you can get paid when you get paid your lead collecting. Yes. You can do free events when you do free. Eventually collecting. Yes. You can do speak to sell. When you're doing speak to sell, there's a 50 slash 50, 60 slash 40 type of split. Yes. You can sponsored stages where you pay a fee and you get to keep 100 percent of your money or you're like click funnels, and I love this. How they built click funnels is by doing their own stages. They did, I don't know how many webinars in the first year to launch this baby, but they did their own stages and so that's the powers you. There's four of those that you can be on other people's stages and one of them is your own stage stage. Speaker 2: 12:18 I love your passion. I love how good you are, what you do, and I think the part I. I had so much fun when we're together at your, at your event, was really diving deep into all four of those. Again, human, it's we. We've done a ton as far as webinars and we've really spent a lot of time on the 50 slash 50 side, but it was the other sides that I was fascinated about, especially as we start building out a speaker team is this ability to to land stages where we may be sponsoring or were there actually is free, which I'm still. I still need to hire you more on that so we'll work out the details of that later, but for me that the real benefit is to really understand how large the opportunity is. I think too often a lot of us in the online funnel world, we think of just webinars or or being at an event and just speaking and splitting it 50 slash 50. Speaker 2: 13:05 There's such a much more broad opportunity out there and it's really why I wanted to have you on this podcast is to help people understand you're missing the boat. There's so much more opportunity. It's really why, again, pizza whole idea as far as this one, our launch formula or a workshop is set up for that one reason to really allow people the opportunity saying, listen, you actually can build your business in multiple ways besides just webinars and and a typical 50 slash 50 type of a Jv partnership type of thing. So if you don't mind, I know we've just got a few more minutes here. What are some of the things? First of all, I want to make sure people understand how they can get this. So what are they going to get? How do they get it? Where do they go? Yeah, so I'd encourage people. Speaker 3: 13:44 Well, the goal was to one our launch workshops, spell one out o n e one our launch workshop.com, and we're going to show you how to actually use stages and to grow your business. We're going to show you what to do on the stage. Most importantly, we're going to show you how to get on this. Actually not most importantly, that's the easy part. How do you get on the stage and most importantly, how do you attract customers from those stages? Because Zig Ziglar said, I've never changed someone's life with a speaking Gig, but sometimes they buy my tapes and cassettes and I got a shot at changing their lives. What? Zig understood because the data showed him the data. Meaning his son told me a couple of weeks ago, Pete that had data to prove that dad knew that stages didn't change their lives because out of every hundred testimonies that came in, only one of them was about him impacting them on the stage. Speaker 3: 14:33 Ninety nine of them were about the products and services that they invested in him with. So that's why we want stages because in one hour to expedite it exponentially exponentially expedites the sales cycle. And so the last part of what we're going to be teaching people is how to actually create customers in all of these different types of stages exist. And so we're giving away thousands access to thousands of stages and we'll be interviewing over 30 meeting planners who control thousands of stages all across the world. So you understand what they think as they're hiring speakers, so that's the one, our launch workshop.com that we're going to be doing the next couple of weeks and I'm really excited about a day, but you asked a good question. You said, what? What is this opportunity with stages in you have you have this opportunity? There's this, there's this pyramid that you can say, I either want to go do on other people's stages or I want to do my own stages. Speaker 3: 15:25 Both are right. The answer is both are right, but what you're doing other people's or your own. There are eight different offline stages that exist in eight different online stages that exist and if you can just begin to build a portfolio of one, two, or three of the offline and one, two, or three of the online, it becomes powerful. And the thing is people in the Internet marketing space typically only know about a few of those like the speak to sell once, but there's associations, there's a huge association stages. There's seminar stages, there's local stages, there's end user stages, there's media stages, there's masterminds, there's eight different offline stages, and then there's eight different online stages. There's webinars, there's trainings, there's online media, there's podcasts, there's summit's, there's all of these stages that exist and what we basically are showing you how to do is how do you go get on other people's stages and I'll tell you the key is when they realize that you can solve a problem for their community, they'll open it up for you to be on their stage. Speaker 3: 16:27 Dasia dates, letting me do a round table at clip, at funnel hacking live because he knows I'll provide value because he's seen me and what I provide and so there's this opportunity. J Dave have stages that exist everywhere and the big thing that will get really clear on the in the, in the, in this launch workshop is what's your stage portfolio? Because for Russell it's two to three offline stages a year and that's it. But for the speaking team, it's hundreds of stages for them. You know, for me this year it was 17 to 18 offline stages and I did 125 online stages, kind of like Russell did they get click funnels starting next year. That'll shift for me because now I have three speakers that are going out on my behalf to for Stu Mclaren. He's like, dude, I want to do four stages and I want them to be for big stages and that's it, and that will move the needle in his business on a big way. So for everybody in the season of life they're in, I want you to understand that this is so many stages and you don't even realize how many exists and we're gonna help you get really clear on your portfolio in this training. Speaker 2: 17:33 I love it. For me, one of the things I get the most out of you, pete, is the idea as far as expanding my mindset with how many additional opportunities there were, and then the other thing was exactly how to get on those stages. I think a lot of the people I talk to says, well, I've got my presentation and I questioned whether you really do, but I'll leave that to let him deal with that. Whether you have your presentation pizza deal, but one thing I can't say that pizza, amazing that is helping you actually get on stages and teaching you how to get on stages. As I mentioned, we've hired will have probably some of the neighborhood of 15, 15, possibly even 20 different speakers this year to try to get on 500 stages and in 2019 and it's all because of pete and his skill set and helping us get on those stages. Speaker 2: 18:15 That's allowing us to basically have a complete huge event team that's going to be going out this year again to spread click funnels, message to the world and we're so excited to be working with Pete and with advanced have reached team and really spending that kind of time. I can tell you if for me, if I was to, you and I talked back and forth as far as my past and different boards. I've been involved in real estate. I've been involved in financial services I can tell and a lot of internet marketing, every single business I've ever been in has always had a speaking component to it and it's the only way you can truly scale a business, so understanding that those guys who are listening right now, if you have a product or a service and you think you're just doing it online, I can tell you you can 10 to 20 times what you're doing online by adding the speaking component to it. Speaker 2: 18:59 There's. You get so much more credibility. You have so much more of an authority figure when you start speaking and talking to people and they hear you, they see you. They connect. It's a relationship built. I mean, I go on and on about the importance of stages. It's again against the whole reason why a higher peak was to help us take our stages to the next level. So again, if you guys are in that situation where you're trying to scale your business, you're trying to add additional revenue, by all means, check it out. Again, it's a one hour launch workshop against one hour long. H O u r launch workshop, is that right? Speaker 3: 19:29 Yeah, one hour launch workshop.com. And Dave, what I would say, and I got a funny story with data, but like I want to really. I've got a really funny story. I want to drive home like the power of the one hour launch, like forget that one our launch. So Dave calls me a couple of years ago. He's been, he's become a friend of mine. Like I'm so glad that Keith Yackey introduced us. We're going to be doing something cool this year at an event and we're going to be doing a lot of cool things, but in being able to help the speaking team, but they've called me a couple of years ago, a year and a half ago, year and seven months ago. I was like, dude, you never believe it. We just did 900 k on this stage and a lot of you know that because it was the first time at 10 x. Speaker 3: 20:07 and I'm like, all right, he's just motivated me. So watch this. No, this is fun. And you've helped a lot of organizations or individuals go from zero to six using state agency or to seven zero to eight overall in their business. And we've never taken seeing someone go from zero to nine, I believe. I believe click funnels can be that organization. But here's the thing. We've seen a lot. We had seen a few million dollar stages at that point. I had seen it from our clients and I'm like okay, he did 900 k, I had a big stage coming up this January, this past January. And I'm like okay, I just want to be able to tell Dave what I did. And so Michael Phelps was the opening keynote. Howie Mendell was the closing keynote. I was the in the middle of that. Speaker 3: 20:49 And by the way, they treat me dates. They paid me to be on that stage because of the value I provide and they let me talk about my products and services. And when it was all set in that said and done, that was a seven figure stage. We did over a million dollars from that stage. And I was like, yes, the one hour and I got Dave and Russell and then obviously all of you know the story, like I know Russell doesn't do physical stages much, but when he does, I think that's a commercial, but when he does a million dollars plus in, I am so excited to see what Russell does this year as well. And so like, look at your leader. He built his company in the first year on digital stages. Look at them in physical stages. When he does them, he knocks it out of the park, the one our launch really works. And so dave, thanks for having me. I love to have a lot of people join us in that one hour launch workshop name. Speaker 2: 21:46 I love it again. So it's one our launch workshop.com. Go there, check it out. Uh, for one it's built on click funnels or it better be right. Maybe it's Speaker 3: 21:55 well pieces of it or not. So yes, I'm a, I'm a two comma club guy. Speaker 2: 22:07 I would love to get you to our eight feet. I should've had a ring here that, uh, I just, in fact, we just got a new ring for Russell actually as I'll show it to you later. Speaker 3: 22:17 Hey, that stage I just talked about, for me, that stage was one with a click funnels page. They actually scheduled a call to see if they wanted me as a speaker on a clickfunnels page because our stage campaign is all built within clickfunnels self. Man, it's, I'm a big advocate of Cleveland. Speaker 2: 22:34 It's just fun for me. I can tell you again, I bet you were such a dear friend and I love spending time with you. I appreciate. I know you're limited in the middle of the launch right now and I know how busy things are. You've got a million other interviews and podcasts and stuff going on. I appreciate you taking the time today. Again, people, anyone who's listened to this, I hold back anything that does these days, it's been so much fun. Uh, we actually are a crazy yacht coming up here with him and all this other stuff. He's always sucking money out of me some way or the other. Anyways, bottom line is again, go ahead and check out one hour launch workshop.com. I regardless, you've got to be doing stages and if you're not exactly sure how to do it. Pizza. The Guy I hired him and I totally. That'd be opportunity spending time out there with both Chris and miles. Spend three days with them. God knows what he's talking about when it comes to stage it, so check out one hour launch workshop. Again, Pete, always so much fun having any other parting words before we let you go. We are talking about your story and your stage and we have a master with us...Pete Vargas. First though, you must know that Zig Ziglar came to fame primarily due to just that...his story and many, many stages. His main platform was live speaking events, but he impacted man more through audios and books. But He was a master of his stage. So here’s the deal, we all have a stage with our businesses. How do we capitalize with them? So to Pete Vargas. Ziglar is helping promote his upcoming workshops, but of course I’m digging into his personal story, which is significant. A quick bio...Pete is Founder and CEO of Advance Your Reach. If you look on Facebook he has an amazing amount of people, from famous folks you’d know to those who have attended his events...who sing his praises, to put it mildly. . Since 2003, he and his team have booked over 25,000 stages worldwide–and generated tens of millions of dollars of revenue through those stages. Pete has booked legendary speakers including Ryan Deiss, and Shark Tank’s Daymond John. He’s also shared stages with titans such as Michael Phelps, Robert Cialdini, Howie Mandel, and Brendon Burchard.Pete believes that your Signature Talk is the most powerful marketing tool you have and that stages are the fastest way to grow your business. Pete is the expert in knowing what to say on stage, how to identify and win the right stages, and how to scale the stage–generating revenue and impact. Through years of testing, he’s perfected the “Stage to Scale” system that has helped so many others land speaking engagements and leverage stages to grow their businesses and organizations. He has an event coming up Oct. 18, 2018 “The Power of the One Hour Launch”. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
My guest today is Pete Vargas. Pete has trained hundreds of people to become powerful and successful professional speakers. Just listen to some of these stats: Since 2003, Pete and his team have helped speakers book over 25,000 events that have reached tens of millions of people and generated over $40 million in revenue. Pete is the founder and CEO of Advance Your Reach, a company that helps speakers, authors, and entrepreneurs find and book stages so that they can share their message, scale their expertise, and reach the world. Pete is very passionate about helping thought leaders who have a message to truly build a business and a brand that allows them to reach the people they feel called to serve. I wanted to bring Pete on to dig into some specific ideas to help you reach more of the people you want to help. So let's get to it. Listen To The Podcast: RESOURCES: Website: www.advanceyourreach.com/dtd INTERVIEW: Pete, welcome to DREAM THINK DO, buddy. Hey. I'm excited to be here. Thanks so much for having me, Mitch. Well, I love your story and I want DREAM THINK DO-ers to hear more of it. I think sometimes when they hear about speakers reaching thousands and thousands of people, bringing in millions of dollars in revenue, all of that, it might be easy to think the start was easy for you. But you didn't start as a professional speaker. You started this whole journey in a much different way. Give us a little of your genesis story. Yes. What I would first say this is not just for professional speakers, but it's for anybody who is trying to attract customers. That's what I'm excited to share with you. I believe the fastest way to attract customers in a powerful way is through stages. So the first thing I want to encourage everyone who wants to do more speaking, and then encourage everyone who wants to attract more customers. Mitch, one of the reasons why I care about stages so much is my background. One of the earliest memories for me was my mom and dad yelling and screaming about who was going to keep me and who was going to keep my sister because they were getting divorced. I remember being four or five years old and it was like a tug of war going on with my sister and I. My mom got my sister and my dad got me. Over the next five to 10 years, my dad was both verbally and physically abusive. He would leave me in the trailer when I was in second grade. I knew what it meant every time when the Dallas Cowboys lost, and I tried to hide. It was a really abusive relationship. So my grandmother, his mom, said, "Enough is enough. You're coming to live with me." It's exactly what I did. So my dad came back into my life in my teenage years. I wanted to try to make things right with him through my teenage years. We tried everything. We tried church. We tried counseling. We tried his seven siblings telling him, "You've got to make things right with your son." I remember my grandma and grandpa always telling them, like always calling him “mijo,” which means son, and saying, "You've got to make things right with your son." Nothing worked. So through my teenage years, I kind of gave up on it. I went off to school, to college. I thought I was going to be the next Jerry McGuire. I thought I was going to live that “show me the money” life, because two professional athletes, Emit Smith and David Robinson, had made such an impact on my life. My thought was if I could go represent athletes that are making an impact in the lives of people, I'm helping make the world a better place. But little did I know, Mitch, that it would be your community that I was going to help in getting their messages out into the world. At that time I didn't know that. At the end of college, I had two job opportunities. Go to Dallas, Texas into the corporate world and make really good money, or go to Harvard, Texas and be a youth pastor. My pastor called and asked me to take over the youth group.

He does things other people may not be doing like finding graphics to go with the episode. He said that even if you spend hours on your content, it may take months before you start seeing any measurable traffic. So if you're looking to get rich in six weeks, this is not for you. I love that good content helps your audience. You may think that all of this discussion is for business, but if you're doing a comedy podcast your audience's problem may be that they just watched the news or had a bad day at work, and it's your job to find a way to make them smile. He talked about identifying some key problems for your audience and making a lead magnet to give away that helps solve them. This is a great strategy that not everyone does, but that's because it takes time. A cool graphic could be a picture of your guest with a quote you pulled from the interview.
