The purpose of this podcast is to help you find healing for your wounds; find hope in your despair; find intimacy in your loneliness; find refuge from the storms of life; Basically, to help you find a deeper walk with Jesus. There is one thing I know after having lived all these years: God wastes nothing. Not our sorrows. Not our wounds. Not even our failures. Hi. I am your host, Dennis Jernigan, and I am so excited about the next few weeks of the Dennis Jernigan podcast because I absolutely love the subject matter that we're covering. I really do. For the past few weeks I have been sharing the stories behind songs inspired by a fantasy book series I wrote for my children and grandchildren…but something I have forgotten to tell you (I will blame my forgetfulness on the Parkinson's) is that the underlying reason I wrote these stories was to paint an allegorical picture of what it means to come to Christ for salvation and how to view the word from Christ's point of view. I wrote the books in such a way that people would not be deterred from reading the books if they felt they had overtly religious undertones. You will be able to find pictures of Jesus and discovering none's identity in Christ painted throughout The Chronicles of Bren. And there's one more thing to tell you. I have actually written 2 series of books. The first series is called The Chronicles of Bren Trilogy and the second series (which is about to have its 4th book completed) called The Bairns of Bren. This second series features my grandchildren as the heroes of the stories and it has become quite a wild ride. I'll let you know when book 4 in that series is available. You are used to hearing me share the stories behind songs of worship and praise; songs of ministry; songs of comfort; songs from Father God's heart to ours…but the song I am sharing today was inspired by a 3-book series of fantasy novels I wrote for my children and grandchildren way back in 2015. The first book in this three-book series is called Captured (Book 1 in The Chronicles of Bren Trilogy). You may be asking yourself, “Why would a worship leader and song receiver write series of books and songs about a fantasy world?” I won't share everything that has led me to the writing of fantasy novels. You can simply listen to the podcasts from the episode called “Riding the Wind” all the way up to today's episode in order to catch up. This week's song, “Creatures”, was received sometime in 2015 0r 2016 is a very scary song and was intended to paint a picture of the evil that is at work in the spiritual realm. Some of the creatures are good. Some are evil. My goal was to teach my children and grandchildren to walk in discernment and to trust their consciences and to remember that the enemy sometimes presents himself as an angel of light. My desire is that my grandchildren would learn to be vigilant because the enemy goes about like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour with his lies. I'll just mention a few of the lyrics that are meant to instill that vigilance. Better watch out. Better watch out When you pass through Forest or valley Whatever you do Better watch out Better watch Whatever you do Better be watching But who's watching who? Following is a list of the creatures found in Bren. Ogres, Werewolves, Terrebithians (a race of men who live under the ground), Hawken (Hawk people who are faifthul to Bren), Wolfen (wolf people who are faithful to Bren), and Treesant (faithful, yet cautious of Bren). Swine rats, demons, unicorns (always good), dragons (fifty fifty chance of being good), fiends (never a good thing), Witches (never good), warlocks (never good). Captured is a tale as old as time. Day at war with night. I painted a saga of peril and balanced it with faith, because I want my grandchildren to know life is not always easy but it always best lived by walking in faith with Jesus Christ. In this story The Founders represent the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Let me highlight a couple of the creatures to give you some insight as to why I created them. Sylvan – Treesants – These people of the forest – tree spirits, if you will – were inspired by my love for the woods. On our farm, we have acres and acres of forest. In fact, my sons and I have cut trails through the forest and have built a campground in those woods. The campground sits atop a small hill we have dubbed Stirling Mountain after the famous battle of Stirling depicted in the movie about William Wallace, Braveheart. As a teenager studying vocational agriculture, I actually spent time studying trees and was tested on identifying various species native to Oklahoma. Throughout the history of fantasy and mythological writings there have been depictions of tree spirits. I had to include my own version in this story. The Treesants – Sylvan in particular – represent the mystery of life and the joy of trying to unravel the mystery…which Leonolis never does. But I don't think he will ever stop trying. After all, isn't that where the fun is? Swine Rats – This particular creature was conjured up in my mind by the various wild animals I have experienced throughout my life – especially when growing up in the country. We often see coyotes and deer and bobcats and skunks and woodchucks and raccoons and squirrels and possums. When I was a boy in FFA, I had show animals. I bought my first pig to show at livestock shows when I was a freshman in high school. The pig was purchased from a friend who lived ten miles away. After getting the pig home and placed in the enclosure I had prepared for her, she promptly escaped! I searched for a couple of weeks to no avail. After a futile period of searching, I gave up. A week after my search ended I receive a call from the friend I had bought the pig from. He told me the pig had come back to his birthplace! As I secured the enclosure and went to once again bring my pig home, I could not help but imagine what she had endured and all she might have gone through just to make it those weeks alone in her incredible journey. All of that helped inspire the swine rats. I combined rats with a pig just because rats personify dirty, rotten, scoundrels, soaked in evil to me! My grandchildren love to scare me and I love to scare them when it is apprpriate. I do not want them to walk in fear but learn to discern when fear comes it can serve as a warning to be alert and to get themselves out of harm's way if necessary. This is meant to be a scary song and is meant to remind us to walk in the light but walk prepared to stand against the darkness with the light of Jesus Christ. SONG [1Pe 5:8 NIV] 8 Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. I believe the roar of the enemy, Satan, is simply lies…noise meant to cause fear and to lead to temptation. I also believe he is like a lion who, though he makes a lot of noise, has no teeth because his only power over us is deception. It would do us all good to remember that. I hope this series of songs on my podcast has not been too off-putting for you. These stories truly do give me an inside track to the hearts of my grand children. Many of them are getting old enough now to understand the allegory and the meaning behind it and for that I am grateful. I hope you find joy and encouragement as you read the books and listen to the songs. They really are refreshing ways to help you find Jesus even through the most difficult times of life. Wandering tribes of Ogres can be found wrecking their way across the globe, erecting many strongholds and plundering far off and exotic lands the likes of which no man will ever see in their lifetime. Yet no matter how far away they may be, all Ogres refer to the scattered tribal kingdoms that dominate the slopes and river valleys of the Mountains of Mourn their rightful, hard-earned homeland. It is here, amongst the frozen peaks and blistering blizzards that mighty Tyrants rule over their own brutal kingdoms, warring amongst each other, looting, extorting and ransacking all before them as a tribute to their own gluttonous appetite and their ever-hungry "god," the Great Maw.Support the show

No 1748. gada līdz 1872. gadam Tīnūžu muiža piederēja zviedru izcelsmes Blūmenu dzimtai. Kungu māju toreiz cēlis G. F. fon Blūmens pēc kāda Rīgas būvmeistara plāna 1768. gadā. Latvijas muižu pētnieks Imants Lancmanis uzskata, ka ēku projektējis arhitekta K. Hāberlanda tēvs Johans Andreass Hāberlands (1711-1778). Pēc Ropažu barona Viktora fon Volfa nāves dēlam Jozefam Oto Karlam fon Volfam (1868-1922) tika Tīnužu un Lielkangaru muižas. Tas bija laika posms no 1893. gada līdz 1921. gadam. Pašlaik saglabājušās dažas saimniecības ēkas, kuras daļēji pārbūvētas vai rekonstruētas: pārvaldnieka A. fon Grīnevalda māja (tagad bērnudārzs), modernīca (privatizēta), zirgu stallis, graudu šķūnis, brūzis, Līču krogs u.c. ēkas. Autore pateicas Kultūras mantojuma centra Tīnužu muiža vadītājam Kasparam Špēlim par informatīvo palīdzību!

Princess Paua has one chance, and exactly ONE Ogre Slayer arrow left, to set all the wrongs of history right; to sort out the tangled knot of what's legend, what's history, whose fear determined which was which, where wishful thinking is a trap and the substance of reality a magic wand in-hand; to put all that she's learned together into a cohesive lesson that will impact not only her own life, but every single life within and beyond the Kingdom in an irrevocable way. Can she do it? If she can, WILL she? That's where you are now, Hunny, on the front lines of an “us” versus “them” mentality, caught in between two enormous and clashing forces, in what feels like an impossible situation. But you're sure of two things that quell you on this quest fit for a Princess: you ALWAYS have everything you need, and you can do ANYTHING you set your heart to—especially with Princess Paua by your side and Mrs. Honeybee in your heart. The only way out is through, so you and Princess Paua will need to get through to King Ronzio…and quickly if there is any hopeful way out of this. Last time in our fairy tale—with the help of the magic that YOU contain—you, Princess Paua, and Princess Pia achieved the impossible and changed the hearts of each and every raging Ogre in the entire Ogre army! It was like…well…a fairy tale, complete with shimmering fairies gathered merrily around Princess Petra as their new maître d'; this quest was well on its way toward a hard-earned happily ever after, wrapped up in sparkling bow. All would have been well had it not been for onnnnne little detail. One iridescent detail that came flying back with its horn, its long flowing mane, and its brilliant white fur, but…without…any of its the three messengers that Paua sent at the reigns, carrying a very important message. When the unicorn came back flying solo, without the messengers it was sent with, Princess Paua tried to stay positive and rest assured that the urgent message she sent for her Father the King to stand down, to not raise his army, and to trust her to handle this complex situation at hand was received; she tried to save all of her “what-ifs” from flurrying like an avalanche in a snow storm because…what if the what-ifs never come to be? Like Mrs. Honeybee always says: it's better to focus on what IS rather than what IF. That shift puts us squarely in our most powerful position…PAUA-full, hehe…of problem-solving; why worry about “what if” until you can actually DO something—however big or small that something is—about what IS, when it actually comes about? Well…this time…all of Paua's “what-ifs” became her “what-ises”...rather quickly and in full force. Her “what-ifs” charged by the hundreds of thousands…to the bugle call of top generals, dressed in full military regalia, when all the King's men marched in lock-step, straight toward the UNsuspecting, UNassuming, UNthreatening Ogre army—opposite them, but NOT opposing them, by any stretch of the imagination…and imagination is the only opponent in this battle. The steely soldiers, hardened of heart, grate against the jolly Ogres, softened in spirit, who continue to dance in the rain to the rhythmic beat of the war drums; they do not recognize the threat in its sound, only the timbre and depth of its feel. They need your protection...from the King? Welcome to The Fairy Tales of Princess Paua
Send us a textEver wondered how a fabled ogre's swamp can be the perfect metaphor for personal space? We kick off our 98th episode by reminiscing about the cherished 2001 hit, "Shrek," tapping into its enduring appeal and surprising layers of depth. As we chat about the film's clever humor and satirical spin on fairytale tropes, we also sprinkle in some personal tidbits—like Anthony's impending trip to Tennessee and Dakota's potential solo adventure on the mic. Anime fans, get ready for a rundown on the intriguing series "Dan Da Dan" and the industry's new trend towards brisker seasons and cinematic adaptations, à la "Demon Slayer."Our journey continues with a nostalgic look back at our own ambitious Lord of the Rings series and the lessons learned from producing epic-length content. This time, we're gearing up to tackle the Rings of Power series with a more streamlined approach, ensuring each episode is a digestible chunk of lore. We then rewind to DreamWorks' early animation days, spotlighting "Antz" and the groundbreaking success of "Shrek," which captivated both kids and adults alike. From terrifying initial designs to the magic of "The Prince of Egypt," we celebrate the studio's significant contributions to the animation landscape. As we frolic through "Shrek's" forest of clever parody, we highlight how the film playfully pokes fun at Disney's fairytale realm with its cheeky use of public domain characters and iconic soundtrack choices. The film's nods to real-world themes, like urban clean-up efforts paralleling Lord Farquaad's fairy tale eviction plan, offer those hidden layers we all love. In wrapping up, we hint at future topics, including a chat about the underrated gem "Atlantis," ensuring there's always something exciting on the horizon at Project Geekology.Support the show

Princess Paua can fix this once and for all, but she's going to need your help and your magic, Hunny! Last time in our fairy tale, you, Princess Paua, and Princess Pia stood face-to-face with the full creaturely reality of the Ogres, to see their soft, tender side as well as their ferocious, enraged side…for exactly what they are: complicated parts of a whole being that's in desperate need of compassion, understanding, and most of all, belonging.Such a legendary vantage point sparked much transformation in each of you—including Ember, who, as a dragon, single-wingedly convinced both King Ronzio and Princess Petra that they needed to change their understanding of what's possible. But no one was more transformed than Princess Paua, who—after running the entire way back from the wilderness to the kingdom, with nothing but her heart guiding the way—kicked off her one black boot for good, before it could trip her up again. With that, she kicked off a cascading chain reaction that set the gears of living legend in motion, ready to repeat age-old history in the service of fear, under the guise as service to the Kingdom. Though invisible to most, you saw Paua's deeply internal transformation and were by her side when she realized the heavy weight and consequence of fear and panic; a weight that threw off the balance that Princesses like you, Paua, Pia, and Petra are adept at creating—each in your own way, in your own realm. Balance, Harmony, and Honesty: those are the principles of Princessing that you helped Princess Paua remember, and that truth shone down like a spotlight on the whole picture, the forest for the trees came into view. It is Princess Paua's purpose—the single, life-long project that trumps all other projects in her workshop—to maintain the delicate balance of that whole. Now, with you by her side, she is set on righting her wrongs; set on righting the ancient imbalance that's been in effect since the first Princess of Ronzio effectively banished the Ogres from their rightful place as an important part of the Kingdom.Welcome to The Fairy Tales of Princess Paua
History is trying to repeat itself, Hunny, and that's where you are now: standing beside Princess Paua…on the brink. Last time in our fairy tale, you and Princess Paua found your way through the wide-open wilderness, back to Princess Pia, sleeping off the night's adventure at her same bivouac. You didn't know what to expect when you found her again, but you certainly were not expecting her to be consumed with wordless worry that she desperately tried to bury further and further; banishing it without proper consideration of what her unruly emotions may be trying to tell her. Slowly but surely—after Princess Paua pleads THREE times for Mrs. Honeybee to magically appear and help her—you, Paua, Pia, and Mrs. Honeybee unravel the knotted mystery of how the Fairies, the Ogres, and the ancient artifacts you found in the charred forest intertwine with the Kingdom of Ronzio legend. But more questions still swirl. What could cause the Fairies to take refuge in the wilderness for soooo long...and soooo far away from the Kingdom? After much uncharacteristic denial, Princess Pia reluctantly admits that all the tell-tale signs of an Ogre invasion are upon us: the forest is going up in flames, the Gnomes have already ran for their lives, and it's getting more and more difficult to keep the Fairies from fleeing. What are they really fleeing from? Is it the Ogres themselves that they're afraid of…or something else. Something deeply ingrained in Princess Paua and the Kingdom of Ronzio…that they both must outgrow.Welcome to The Fairy Tales of Princess Paua

Hey everyone! We hope you're ready to pick sides today, because this might be a rather polarizing episode... Today we're Talking about about Shrek: the Musical and why we're a little luke warm on the show. Is it because the pacing is a little tough? Or because there's no update to the original story? Or because it's a musical about people walking? Yes. Yes it is. How do you feel about Shrek? Let us know! We love to chat about opinions; especially ones that are different from ours. :) @downstageleftpc downstageleftpc@gmail.com downstageleftpodcast.com
Last Monday, February 26th was Tell a Fairy Tale Day. I began preparation for this episode with the intention of telling you a fairy tale, perhaps one that was connected to the holiday. This process opened up reflection on the necessity of a well-developed imagination to meet life challenges in a creative and satisfying way, and the role fairy tales play in cultivating this capacity. In fairy tale language, some of these life challenges could be called "ogres," the people and forces that hoard the gold and will eat you up, take your life, if they can. Ogre is a pretty good metaphor for some of the challenges that we meet. And, of course, an ogre appears in the story in this episode.Support the showEmail Catherine at drcsvehla@mythicmojo.comPost a positive review on apple podcasts!
