On this episode we are stepping into the strange, earthy and folkloric energy of May Witchcraft. We begin with Lily of the Valley after my mum recently gifted one to me for my garden and naturally, I ended up completely falling down the rabbit hole of its folklore and magical associations. Together we explore the flowers connections to faery folklore, protection, divination, springtime traditions, connected deities, old Christian symbolism, weddings, luck, death omens and the return of happiness. Despite its delicate appearance Lily of the Valley carries an incredibly liminal energy and has long been associated with the veil between worlds. From there we descend underground into the world of coal and charcoal magic. Lately I have been feeling much more earthy and grounded within my practice, perhaps because of Taurus season but also because I have been spending so much time gardening, growing herbs and reconnecting with the soil again. This led me towards wanting to explore the simple but powerful ingredients that would once have been accessible within everyday folk magic — things like salt, charcoal and coal. We look at the magical uses of coal and charcoal throughout history including protection, grounding, purification, banishing, prosperity work and spiritual cleansing alongside old folk beliefs surrounding miners, omens and underground spirits. Finally we finish with haunted mining folklore and ghost stories inspired by the folk horror novel Scratch Moss by David Barnett. Expect tales of Knockers, phantom miners, eerie omens, ghostly hands carrying candles through the tunnels, spectral black dogs, Bluecap spirits and the strange supernatural folklore that grew from the deep mines beneath the earth. So make yourself a cup of tea, settle in and join me for this wonderfully strange journey into May Witchcraft. Over on Patreon this month we descend beneath the tides with our new theme - Sea Witch. Hello Witches In this episode we explore the energy of the Flower Moon — a time of growth and fertility. This full moon is deeply connected to the fertile pulse of the Earth, making it a powerful point in the lunar cycle for both manifestation and inner expansion. We look at how to work with this energy in a way that feels supportive and aligned rather than overwhelming. Inside this episode I share - The spiritual and energetic themes of the Flower Moon How this lunar phase supports growth, abundance and renewal A grounded approach to manifestation and intention setting The role of shadow work in allowing yourself to fully receive Simple ways to work with this moon through ritual, tarot and journaling This is a moon that invites both action and awareness — a balance between tending to what is ready to bloom and gently releasing what may still be holding you back. Hello Witches In this episode we look at Witch's Salt, one of the most ancient, powerful and accessible tools in magickal practice. We explore the many forms salt can take, from sea salt and Himalayan pink salt to black salt, kosher salt and beyond. Looking at how each can be worked with in spellcraft, ritual and everyday magick including how to create your own black salt, a potent protective blend rooted in folk tradition. We journey through the sacred history of salt across different religions and cultures, uncovering its role in ritual, purification and protection. Along the way we touch on old superstitions of witches, the devil, spilled salt and various different folklore. We also dive into mythology exploring deities connected to salt including those from Aztec and Mesopotamian traditions and the powerful stories woven around them. Finally we look at creative ways to work with salt in your own practice, blending your own magical salts for different intentions from protection to glamour. Hello Witches On this episode we are looking at two different flowers you could work with that are perfect to plant during this month - cornflowers and hollyhocks. Hollyhock stands at the edges of the home, a traditional guardian of thresholds. It carries the energy of protection and abundance. Cornflower carries the magic of intuition, clarity and inner sight. Its vivid blue has long been linked to the third eye supporting divination and deeper perception. In Slavic folklore we meet Habernitsa, the Cornflower Wraith. A noon spirit said to dwell in the fields. She reminds us that the spirit world often meets us in unexpected ways. Cornflower also appears in the story of Chiron, the wise centaur, who used its healing properties after being wounded by a poisoned arrow during the chaos of Heracles' battle with the nine-headed serpent, the Hydra. We also look at the owl, a guide between worlds. It represents deep, earned wisdom often found in stillness. Its presence reminds us to trust what we sense, even when it cannot yet be explained. Our book review is Hungerstone by Kat Dunn. Black holes, Supergates, and a not-so-simple “hologram.” Jeff Haecker, Lisa Jones, and Victor Lams unpack SG-1/Atlantis teamwork, Morgan Le Fay's reveal, and whether non-interference is moral courage—or cosmic negligence. The post The Pegasus Project (SG1) appeared first on StarQuest Media.
On this month's episode of Magus we are peering back through the mists of time, to a time of myth and belief in myths, to investigate the origins, theoretical biography, and the symbolic meanings of an Arthurian icon: Morgan Le Fay! From the first mention of Morgan Le Fay in writing, care of Geoffrey of Monmouth in the 12th century, we explore how the events of The Anarchy created a need for 'The Once and Future King' to return. Though at that point, Morgan was more of a good fairy and mysterious Otherworld Queen, rather than King Arthur's dark shadow. Yet, scratching beneath the surface, and considering both how Morgan was re-framed by 15th century French authors like Chretian De Troyes, we establish that there is a before and after - and that only after the Vulgate Cycle is complete does the 'Dark Goddess' of ancient mythology find a new form.We of course look back into the deep past - to the birth of the universe, out of the cosmic womb of Classical feminine deities like Nyx and the Ancient Egyptian goddess Nephthys, and forward, via the Celtic (and monstrous) Morrigan, Modron, and Morgen, to peel back the layers of Morgan Le Fay's identity. A shapeshifter, scorned lover, embodiment of justice, and so much more, even after the death of King Arthur - and Mordred, the incestuous product of the love affair between Morgan and Arthur - she lives on. Part pantomime villain, part nightmare queen, part maiden, part mother, part crone, she is, in a sense, all things to all men.But what is Morgan Le Fay to herself? Does she even know? And how much of the story of her life was ever her choice, or does it all come back to the nebulous actions of the wizard Merlin? With answers to these questions and more, it's a pretty epic episode, so clothe yourself in darkness and head with us down to the ford in the river, where there's a strange lady waiting with a message we have no choice but to hear...The Three Ravens is an English Myth and Folklore podcast hosted by award-winning writers Martin Vaux and Eleanor Conlon.Released on Mondays, each weekly episode focuses on one of England's 39 historic counties, exploring the history, folklore and traditions of the area, from ghosts and mermaids to mythical monsters, half-forgotten heroes, bloody legends, and much, much more. New month .. new attitude and a HUGE reason I'm excited about SNAP again! ⭐️ DJ Spin is ALL POSITIVE today! With a first
On this week's episode - the penultimate of the series - Eleanor is luring us out into the rolling farmland and woodlands of Hertfordshire, to dig deep into its history and folklore, and wake the ghost of a fiery, horse-riding highway-woman!We start off chatting about the relative 'Nothing Day' that is the 2nd of June, running through some broader beliefs about the month and the grim fate of St Elmo (he of St Elmo's Fire). Then, we hurry into Hertfordshire, and discover how what might appear to be quite a sophisticated Home County is hiding lots of wonderfully strange stuff! We start with some chat about Knebworth and Hatfield House - two absolutely stunning stately homes - as well as the strange Templar origins of Baldock, the 17th century tale of how the Devil helped a Hertfordshire farmer to mow his field of oats, Hertfordshire Pudding Stones, the strangeness of the shell grotto at Royston Cave, and much more besides, all before Eleanor serves up a perennial sweet treat that originated in 'Herts' for this week's County Dish. After that, it's full-on Folklore Time - from the haunted and enormous 'Great Bed of Ware' to the legend of the Six Hills, and several other Devilish tales, such as those of Grim's Dyke, the 'Devil's Hopscotch', and his fiddle-playing on Bushey Heath, Braughing's 'Old Man Day' and plenty else, all enriched with some excerpts from Saturday's upcoming Local Legends interview with Dr Owen Davies and Dr Ceri Houlbrouk of the University of Hertfordshire's MA course in Folklore Studies. Then it's on to the main event: Eleanor's telling of "The Wicked Lady" - a generally quite cosy mystery, and one which brings back a returning Three Ravens favourite character, for a sizzlingly hot ghost story that may or may not feature a flatulent dog...We really hope you enjoy the episode, and will be back on Thursday with a Magus bonus episode all about the mythology and legacy of Morgan Le Fay, all before the full interview with Owen and Ceri comes out on Saturday! The Three Ravens is an English Myth and Folklore podcast hosted by award-winning writers Martin Vaux and Eleanor Conlon.Released on Mondays, each weekly episode focuses on one of England's 39 historic counties, exploring the history, folklore and traditions of the area, from ghosts and mermaids to mythical monsters, half-forgotten heroes, bloody legends, and much, much more. Welcome! Today is episode three in The Grail Series, and in the spirit of All Hallows' Eve, we begin our exploration of the feminine figures of the Arthurian and Grail legends with the enigmatic Morgan Le Fay. In discovering her various portrayals through the myriad versions of the Arthurian canon, we situate her shifting roles among the qualities of mystery, hospitality, and justice (discussed in episode two), as well as the six feminine figures of the psyche as proposed by Robert Johnson. A complex yet inspirational female, the otherworldly and formidable Morgan Le Fay emerges as a potent figure in her own right, one with a foot firmly in both worlds. Joy Melchezidek joins me to talk about her new book, "The Light From The Cauldron." Joy explains how she channeled Morgan LeFay who wrote the book. Who is Morgan LeFay? Was she the evil being portrayed in the King Aurthur stories? Or was there a different story behind this? Was Camelot real? I think there could have been some truth in this as in all of our fables. I've read Joy's book and I know the words do not come from her, as she readily admits.

In this week's episode Sandra talks about the legend of Morgan Le Fay. Her name actually means Morgan the Fairy. She is most well known for being the half sister of King Arthur. She was considered a witch or a member of the fay. Today she is featured as a character and inspiration to many different characters found in comic books, movies and video games. Shanquella Robinson went away on a trip with friends to Cabo, Mexico. A day later she would be dead. Each person on the trip had a different version of the events that took place. But, a video emerged which showed one woman clothes in pajamas ruthlessly beating a naked woman later identified as Shanquella Robinson. No arrests have been made at the time of this episode.
