    Ivy Insights

The Podcast Raleigh is a fantastic podcast that truly captures the essence of the city and keeps listeners informed about all the latest news and happenings. Hosted by Ashton and Hayes, this podcast stands out for its ability to attract great guests who are knowledgeable and passionate about their respective fields. One of the best aspects of this podcast is how well Ashton and Hayes handle their interviews. They give their guests ample time to speak and share their insights, while also knowing when to ask the right questions to keep the conversation flowing smoothly.

What sets The Podcast Raleigh apart is its well-rounded topics. Whether it's discussing community news, local events, or talking to leaders making a difference in the city, this podcast covers a wide range of subjects that appeal to a diverse audience. As someone who grew up in Raleigh but now lives on the west coast, I appreciate how Ashton and Hayes help me stay connected to my hometown by providing valuable insights into what's happening in the city.

However, there are a few areas where The Podcast Raleigh could improve. One aspect that some listeners have noted is inconsistent volume levels throughout episodes. This can be frustrating as it requires constantly adjusting the volume controls. Additionally, some have mentioned that Hayes seems distant from the microphone at times, making it difficult to hear him clearly.

In conclusion, The Podcast Raleigh is an excellent source of information for anyone wanting to stay updated on all things related to Raleigh. With its impressive guest lineup and well-rounded topics, this podcast keeps listeners engaged and informed about the city's news and developments. While there are some technical issues with volume inconsistencies, overall, Ashton and Hayes do a fantastic job of hosting this podcast and providing valuable insights into what's happening in Raleigh. I highly recommend giving it a listen if you're interested in staying connected with this vibrant city.

She's an athlete. A mother. A Black woman. A World Cup Champion. As Jess McDonald puts it: "I fall under a huge amount of categories." And all those categories have been highlighted in the past year and a half of competition, where McDonald has done everything from celebrate her sport's highest achievements with her son, to kneeling during the national anthem with her teammates and opponents as sports resumed during a pandemic. What she's best known for is being a really, really good soccer player--but we tried to cover all the things that make up who McDonald is, including a time she considered giving up the game. Though McDonald, like several of her NC Courage teammates, has opted out of the NWSL's short fall season, she remains one of the faces of the franchise.Ashton and Hayes also bring back their "interesting things" segment to touch on some positive news in what has been a tough year for downtown businesses. Be honest: prior to the last couple years, did you know who was on your North Carolina State Board of Elections? (You don't have to confess it out loud.) For a number of reasons, voting, elections, ballots and how they're all organized and run have come under higher scrutiny than any time we can remember. Someone who has thought about these issues for a number of years now--even prior to holding an official position--is Damon Circosta, the current Chair of the NC Board of Elections, a guy who was thinking about free and fair elections all the way back in college in Arizona. In our interview, he breaks down some important dates and details of this fall's election process, and hopefully makes you feel even better about North Carolina's process being safe, secure and fair. The democratic process should never be taken for granted, but there's also a lot of unnecessary noise that Damon and others hope can get tuned out as we try to accomplish the important task of holding an election during a pandemic.Damon is also the executive director of the A.J. Fletcher Foundation, but we opted to do an entire episode looking at his role on the Board of Elections, and will bring you part two of the interview in a future episode this season. Please support the businesses who support us: Papa Murphy's Take N Bake Pizza of Raleigh and Steele Residential. We hope you enjoy Season 3 of Podcast Raleigh!Subscribe to Podcast Raleigh on your favorite podcast sites so you never miss an episode, and if you enjoy it we'd love for you to rate or read a comment:Apple: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/podcast-raleigh/id1458907220Google: https://play.google.com/music/listen?u=0#/ps/Inzk5woxrsjwf3zhd5vv3av4yeiStitcher: https://www.stitcher.com/podcast/podcast-raleighSpotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/6b3dVvLJfO0EqvDGQaFTAP

When a resignation created a vacancy on the Raleigh City Council, 54 individuals applied to be the next District D representative. The field was narrowed to a handful of folks who participated in public interviews conducted by the sitting council members, and of that group Raleigh native Stormie Forte was chosen to join the council. Once sworn in, she became the first Black female city council member in Raleigh's history. While this role is new for Forte, a lawyer who works at Obsidian Consulting Services and also hosts a radio show, getting involved in any and all things Raleigh is something she's been doing for a while. Whether it's volunteering at Hopscotch or the Rex Open or sitting on a non-profit board like the North Carolina Science Museum Friends or the Clarence Lightner Achiever's, Forte rarely finds herself on the sidelines. We talked to her about her decision to run, the process, and what she wants to get started on now that she is officially a member of Raleigh's city council.Special thanks to Papa Murphy's Take N Bake Pizza of Raleigh--who is donating 15% of all Wednesday sales in July to the Wake Med Foundation--and Steele Residential, who has graciously donated their ad time during the pandemic to local non-profits, this episode they're supporting A Place At The Table.Subscribe/rate Podcast Raleigh on your favorite podcast sites:Apple: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/podcast-raleigh/id1458907220Google: https://play.google.com/music/listen?u=0#/ps/Inzk5woxrsjwf3zhd5vv3av4yeiStitcher: https://www.stitcher.com/podcast/podcast-raleighSpotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/6b3dVvLJfO0EqvDGQaFTAP

The latest to make him an offer is the city of Raleigh, who has tasked Mickey with helping them figure out how to best engage its citizens. What started in 2015 as one show, and then a once-a-month show, and then more shows, eventually became Eyes Up Here, the comedy enterprise that has given a mic to over 200 women comics, and stages multiple regular shows across the Triangle and in places like Asheville and Wilmington.
