ABOUT A PICKLEBALL CHRISTMAS Tennis star Luke Hollis heads home for Christmas and discovers his family's racquet club is about to be sold. Along with Caroline, the club's pickleball coach, Luke agrees to compete in a holiday tournament that could save the club. AIR DATE & NETWORK FOR A PICKLEBALL CHRISTMAS December 20, 2025 | Lifetime CAST & CREW OF A PICKLEBALL CHRISTMAS Director: Monika Mitchell Writer: Blake Rutledge Cast: James Lafferty as Luke Hollis Zibby Allen as Caroline BRAN'S MOVIE SYNOPSIS We meet pro tennis player Luke Hollis. He is an angry boy. But he wins a big tournament and then promptly quits. He's moving to Florida and his agent can't stop him! We then meet Caroline. She works at a Racquet club. They've recently converted the courts to pickleball to capitalize on the trend. Will it be enough to save the club by Christmas? Because if not, it's over!!!! Luke gets home for Christmas. His dad is the owner of said Racquet club. And Luke pitches him letting him take over the club - call it the Luke Hollis Champions Center. They tell him the bad news about probably losing the center. He gets to the club the next day and is super mad to find out that his tennis court has been turned into a pickleball court! But when he finds out that this Christmas day pickleball tournament might be the club's last chance to save it, he tries to figure out how to help. He finds a partner to help broadcast the tournament. The problem is the money they're going to spend isn't going to the club, rather to the winner of the tournament. That prize money is enough to save the club, so Luke decides he's going to compete. So Caroline agrees to help him learn this sport and next thing you know, they're hooking up in the shed. At the club holiday party, Caroline and Luke go together, and his parents make an announcement naming Luke the next club owner, if they're able to make it another week. Somehow, Caroline gets the idea that Luke is going to get rid of pickleball. She leaves the party and then avoids him until the Christmas day tournament. He realizes that something is up and just says lock it in. But she can't do it anymore. During the championship, she tries to throw the match! Luke tells her that she misunderstood! They put on matching shirts and go out there and WIN!!! Cut to one year later, the club is thriving. Luke's sister comes to get Caroline saying that Luke's injured and needs her to come quick. It's a fake injury! And he proposes with the ring inside of a pickleball. Watch the show on Youtube - www.deckthehallmark.com/youtubeInterested in advertising on the show? Rick is joined by Daren Hornig of CourtsApp. CourtsApp, the first AI-powered marketing and booking platform built to modernize court marketing and reservations across the red-hot racquet sports industry, has announced its official launch throughout the New York tri-state area. Founded by New York entrepreneur and real estate developer Daren Hornig and creative executive Kate Daggett, CourtsApp is designed to eliminate the frustration and friction that have long plagued the tennis and pickleball communities, making it now seamless and easy to reserve a court in any racquet and paddle sport. CourtsApp also helps facilities grow. By making every court discoverable and bookable, the platform turns unused inventory into real revenue and delivers a steady stream of high-intent players to clubs. With seamless integrations with existing court management systems, full control over pricing and rules, CourtsApp gives operators a simple and efficient way to fill courts and expand their reach. CourtsApp provides its software to the facilities for free and makes a commission on the courts it books. Currently live to players with more than 1,500 courts across 150+ facilities already signed on throughout New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut, CourtsApp will expand from Maine to Florida by the first quarter of 2026 before expanding market-by-market as club density increases. Additional play-in markets, including Southern California, Texas, and the Pacific Northwest, are expected to come online throughout 2026. Clubs such as the John McEnroe Academy's flagship location at Sportime Randalls Island, Pickleball America, Padel Haus, all Sportime Pickleball locations and more are currently available for players to reserve courts. “CourtsApp was born from pure frustration,” said Hornig, Chief Executive Officer of CourtsApp and an avid tennis and pickleball player. “For years, me and my friends struggled to find open courts in real time and near where I wanted to play. We wanted a simple, reliable solution that matched how people already book restaurants, travel, or fitness. Now, with CourtsApp, they finally have one.” Hornig called CourtsApp the “OpenTable for courts. The Expedia of racquet sports,” and added, “Beyond convenience, CourtsApp connects people; helping friends meet to play, helping communities stay active, and making racquet sports more accessible to everyone. It is also a critical marketing tool for facility owners. Most operators lack the funds and expertise to market effectively in today’s complex digital environment, and CourtsApp does this for them and more. Our goal is to get players on the courts and help clubs keep their courts full. It's really a win-win scenario for all.” Daggett, CourtsApp's Chief Marketing Officer, resides in Connecticut and, like Hornig, is among the 25.7 million Americans who played tennis in 2024, according to the most recent statistics reported by the United States Tennis Association (USTA), which was an all-time high and a surge of 1.9 million more than 2023. Pickleball has been consistently named the fastest-growing sport in the nation with an estimated 22.7 million players, an increase of more than 45 percent over the previous year. There are more than 68,000 dedicated pickleball courts in the U.S. “Racquet sports are booming, but the technology that supports them has not kept up,” commented Daggett. “Players expect the same ease they get everywhere else, and clubs need tools that help them grow. CourtsApp brings both sides together in a modern, intuitive experience that gets more people on the court, more often.” CourtsApp is also forging integrations with the leading court-management systems nationwide, enabling instant court bookings at participating facilities. CourtsApp is continuing to roll out integrations with leading pickleball and racquet-sport technology platforms. One of the first is DUPR, the pickleball rating system used by more than 1.6 million players and 8,000 clubs. This integration will allow players to bring their verified rating directly into the CourtsApp ecosystem and for players to book courts within DUPR. A Win for Both Players and Clubs For clubs, CourtsApp functions as a free, performance-based marketing channel. Facilities can join at no cost, with CourtsApp earning a commission on court time bookings. For players, CourtsApp provides: Easy search functions across tennis, pickleball, padel facilities, as well as table tennis, squash, badminton and racquetball Real-time booking confirmations Map View Secure payment via Stripe and Apple Pay A familiar, “OpenTable-style” user experience Players and clubs can learn more or join the platform at CourtsApp.com and download CourtsApp from the Apple App Store for iOS and Google Play Store for Android. Also… A Smarter Match: CourtsApp and DUPR Form Partnership To Power Verified Pickleball Play Everywhere Local Courts to Access National-Level Ranking Infrastructure, Building a More Connected Pickleball Ecosystem Where Every Match Counts CourtsApp also announced a strategic partnership with DUPR (Dynamic Universal Pickleball Rating), the global standard for pickleball ratings and verified match data. Together, the companies are building a more connected ecosystem for racquet sports, one where every match can count toward verified player progress and help clubs attract more engaged, repeat players. DUPR and CourtsApp share a common mission: reduce friction for players and facilities by connecting access, performance, and community in one integrated environment. “DUPR has become the gold standard for measuring skill in pickleball, and together we're making that progress visible right where the game happens, on the court,” said Daren Hornig, CourtsApp founder and CEO. “Clubs are the engine of that growth, and as CourtsApp continues expanding from the NY Tristate area into new markets in 2026, our work with more than 150 clubs and 1,500 courts shows how verified play helps clubs boost utilization and revenue without changing how they operate.” Through this partnership, CourtsApp will integrate DUPR's universal rating system directly into its platform, enabling players to: • Connect DUPR accounts through CourtsApp • Book courts on DUPR, powered by CourtsApp's real-time availability engine • Record match results automatically, creating verified rating histories • Receive enhanced matchmaking and performance insights over time For racquet sport facilities, the CourtsApp-DUPR collaboration unlocks new opportunities to: • Seamlessly integrate CourtsApp's AI-driven marketing and booking tools across 8,000-plus DUPR partner facilities nationwide • Host DUPR-eligible matches and Open Plays • Tap into DUPR's 1.5 million engaged pickleball players to drive visibility and participation • Leverage data-driven insights to boost pickleball court utilization and player retention • Drive incremental revenue as DUPR-engaged players seek more opportunities to play and log verified matches DUPR CEO Tio Machado said that CourtsApp is building the digital infrastructure that helps the sport grow. “We're excited to align on the shared mission of connecting players and verified play everywhere,” he said. Hornig added that when CourtsApp evaluates partnerships, the focus is on partnering with the very best companies in their respective spaces. “The alignment with DUPR is a trifecta as they work with facilities and players, which is the exact audience that CourtsApp focuses on, and within the CourtsApp platform we're able to add DUPR's rating to our expanding network of players,” he explained. Integration work is already underway, with new functionality expected to launch in an upcoming product release. The partnership represents a pivotal step toward a unified racquet sport ecosystem that connects access, performance, community, and technology while helping clubs grow with rising demand for verified play. DUPR announced it was partnering with USA Pickleball as the official ratings system of all USA Pickleball-owned events. CourtsApp is available for free in the northeastern United States with more than 150 facilities and 1,500 courts onboarded and accepting bookings for tennis, pickleball and padel courts. CourtsApp will extend from Maine to Florida by the first quarter of 2026 before expanding market-by-market as club density increases. Additional play-in markets, including Southern California, Texas, and the Pacific Northwest, are expected to come online throughout 2026.

This week, I'm talking to Reka and Dorina, the founders of Budapest Racquet Society—or BRS—in, you guessed it, Budapest. We're in the early days of this new tennis club movement, but something exciting is definitely happening at the intersection of social community and sports. Running and training have paved the way, and now tennis is stepping into the spotlight—and it's emerging fast. For a certain generation, the concept of social community is second nature. People are craving connection and movement, whether it's reconnecting with something they loved as kids or finally trying something they've always wanted to but found intimidating. Tennis has traditionally carried that air of exclusivity, but these new clubs are flipping the script. They're all about connection, community, and a genuine passion for the sport. BRS is a perfect example, making serious waves in Budapest's tennis scene. In this episode, we dive into Reka and Dorina's tennis backgrounds, the tennis culture in Hungary, and why Budapest seems especially welcoming to this new style of club. What I love about BRS and others like it is their focus on individuality and inclusivity. On court, with a racquet in hand, you're simply a tennis player—no clichés required. At its core, the draw of these clubs goes beyond the sport. It's about fun—the joy of being on court, moving, learning, and improving alongside others. Honestly, life doesn't get much better than that.A huge thanks to Dorina and Reka for sharing their time and for what they're doing for tennis in Budapest. I'm a big fan of the sport and all these new clubs popping up around the world. As always, share this pod with like-minded people or anyone who's thought about getting into tennis or racquet sports but didn't know where to start. Chances are, there's a club like BRS in a city near you—find them, get on court, and get involved. From Chris and me, peace.

Hey there and welcome to the wemove podcastIt was the end of the tennis grand slam of the Australian Open at the weekend. Pretty pumped for the level of play in both men's and women's. Congrats to Madison Keys and Jannik Sinner for their displays of Slam winning play. Continuing the theme of tennis with today's episode but focussed on the community level. A couple of episodes back we spoke to Amsterdam Tennis Society about the growth of their social tennis club, and closer to home, we have just spoken to the founding trio of Bisque Tennis club in London.Run club formats are established and continue to grow, which continues to amaze me at the evolution of the running and running community space. It's a model that's inspiring people to get up and run, move and ultimately change their physical and mental states, which is fantastic. Now this has been happening for a while, plus other sporting communities have been growing, in the training space for example with CrossFit, Hyrox and also climbing and bouldering. Racquet sports are now bubbling up, boosted by Padel and Pickle. These new sports are bringing their own innovations as they develop. The more traditional ones, in this case tennis, with it's heritage, traditions and sometimes stifling rules and norms has not seen much innovation and evolution. That is until now, with the likes of Bisque and Amsterdam Tennis Society emerging and connecting with other like minded tennis players through social platforms.Bisque founders, Alejandro, Seb and Alex sat down with me this weekend to chat Bisque, it's ideas, formats and plans for bringing players together of all levels to enjoy getting on court and hitting some balls without being bound by the sometimes stifling club traditions. Thanks to the guys for their time. If you are in London and want to get onto a tennis court, but feel reluctant to give it a go for whatever reason, check Bisque out and sign up for one of their sessions. Thanks for listening. from Chris and me. Peace.

Johannus Monday enters 2025 at 371 in the world, but as we know on the BTR Pod, the ranking very rarely tells the full story. The 6'6" lefty has evolved immensely over the last five years, and ended the 2024 season with three straight 25K titles, and a semifinal at the Knoxville Challenger. That was a special one for him, as it was a few months after he graduated from the University of Tennessee. We talk about he went from an unheralded prospect out of Hull, to one of the most feared players out of the collegiate system in the last few years. The story of a filthy and dangerous train ditch that became one of the swankiest addresses in the world -- Park Avenue. For over 100 years, a Park Avenue address meant wealth, glamour and the high life. The Fred Astaire version of the Irving Berlin classic "Puttin' on the Ritz" revised the lyrics to pay tribute to Park Avenue: "High hats and Arrow collars/White spats and lots of dollars/Spending every dime for a wonderful time."By the 1950s, the avenue was considered the backbone of New York City with corporations setting up glittering new office towers in the International Style -- the Lever House, the Seagram Building, even the Pan Am Building. But the foundation for all this wealth and success was, in actually, a train tunnel, originally operated by the New York Central Railroad. This street, formerly known as Fourth Avenue, was (and is) one of New York's primary traffic thoroughfares. For many decades, steam locomotives dominated life along the avenue, heading into and out of Cornelius Vanderbilt's Grand Central (first a depot, then a station, eventually a terminal). However train tracks running through a quickly growing city are neither safe nor conducive to prosperity. Eventually, the tracks were covered with beautiful flowers and trees, on traffic island malls which have gotten smaller over the years. By the 1910s this allowed for glamorous apartment buildings to rise, the homes of a new wealthy elite attracted to apartment living in the post-Gilded Age era. But that lifestyle was not quite made available to everyone. In this episode, Greg and Tom take you on a tour of the tunnels and viaducts that helped New York City to grow, creating billions of dollars of real estate in the process.
