Season 1, Ep 6: Reloading lost episodes from the early Final Word. It's Season 1! At the end of Australia's 2015 tour of England, after the one-day series to follow the Ashes, it was great to be joined by our friends Jesse Hogan from the Fairfax papers and Stephan Shemilt from the BBC. At the top of the order - I can't stand it, I know you planned it - are there shenanigans afoot with Jason Roy and Alex Hales? Or will Moeen Ali get a Test job ahead of both? John Wayne Hastings was in the right place at the right time to make telling contributions with bat and ball. Plus we innocently speculate about Australia's ultimately cancelled Test tour of Bangladesh. This season was originally recorded for the ABC - this is the extended edition, restoring removed material. We reflect on the surprising retirements of cricket legends like Steve Finn, Alex Hales, and Broadie, and express our gratitude for the support from our listeners. We bring our reaction to the T20 World Cup Semi-Final between England and India. England started very well, doing an excellent job to restrict the Indian batters. However, later in the innings, Hardik Pandya unleashed a powerful onslaught to help India post a very competitive score. Or so it seemed. In reality it was way under-par, as Alex Hales lit the Indian attack up, to set up a comfortable win for England. The Hundred tournament starts on 3 August 2022, and Trent Rockets will want to match last year's strong performance. They have kept the core of their squad to do that, centred on the superstar that is Rashid Khan. Even when he is on Afghanistan duty, they will bring in the very experienced South Africa international Tabraiz Shamsi. In the batting, they will hope domestic stars Tom Kohler-Cadmore and Alex Hales live up to their price tags. And, for at least a few games, there is some bloke called Joe Root who we quite like...! This is The Hundred Club: a community for fans of short format cricket.
