Since the formation of Prime Minister Ali Al-Zaidi's government, a series of declarations by the Sadrist Movement, Asa'ib Ahl al-Haq, and Kata'ib Imam Ali have signaled a growing willingness to abandon armed wings and integrate more fully into the Iraqi state. But what do these declarations actually mean in practice? The hosts unpack the technical process of Hashd integration, examine Sadr's long history of pledges to disband armed formations, and explore the political calculations driving these latest announcements. They also discuss why different factions face varying incentives, and what the evolution of Iraq's armed movements reveals about the country's broader political trajectory.

#96: La mano 'alien' tras un daño cerebral

Hemispherics

Ahmad Faraz wrote Silsile Tod Gaya as a ghazal of departure — but every sher in it opens into something larger than heartbreak. In this episode, Kshitij and Burair work through the full ghazal, sitting with three moments in particular: the lover who expected to die of separation and was surprised by how long survival took; the quietly radical idea that complaining about darkness is worth less than lighting your own candle; and Faraz's image of dancing to the gallows in chains — which leads them to 1931, and to Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev, and Rajguru singing as they walked to their execution.Faraz lived in exile, was arrested under Zia-ul-Haq, and kept writing anyway. This ghazal knows what it means to leave — and to stay.Kavinaama is a podcast about the poetry of the Hindi-Urdu-Punjabi world, hosted by Kshitij Kawatra and Burair Ashary.

rWotD Episode 3273: Pakistan Peoples Muslim League Welcome to random Wiki of the Day, your journey through Wikipedia's vast and varied content, one random article at a time. The random article for Monday, 20 April 2026, is Pakistan Peoples Muslim League. The Pakistan Peoples Muslim League (PPML), formerly known as the Pakistan Muslim League (Like-Minded) and abbreviated as PML (LM), was a political party in Pakistan led by former Chief Minister of Sindh Arbab Ghulam Rahim. The party was a breakaway faction of the Pakistan Muslim League (Q). It emerged in 2009 after many members of the Pakistan Muslim League (Q) became disillusioned by the questionable decisions of the Chaudhrys of Gujrat who were alleged to be making important decisions without consulting any of the senior party members and making the party an undemocratic "family party." In May 2013, the PPML merged with the Pakistan Muslim League (N).Many PML (Q) heavyweights including Arbab Ghulam Rahim, Hamid Nasir Chattha, Khurshid Mahmud Kasuri, Humayun Akhtar Khan, Haroon Akhtar Khan, Salim Saifullah Khan, Humayun Saifullah Khan, Gohar Ayub Khan, Omar Ayub Khan, Kashmala Tariq, Mian Atta Muhammad Manika and many other like-minded politicians got together to form what they believed was the legitimate version of the PML (Q).This created a huge vacuum in the original PML (Q) and in 2011, more than half of its members in the Punjab Assembly decided to ditch their original party and join hands with the PML (N) to support Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif when the Pakistan Peoples Party was kicked out of the Punjab Government. In 2010, the PPML faction began its effort to unite factions of the Muslim League under one umbrella and managed to create an electoral alliance known as the Muttahida Muslim League which included Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed of Awami Muslim League, Makhdoom Syed Ahmad Mehmood of Pakistan Muslim League (Functional), and Ijaz-ul-Haq of Pakistan Muslim League (Zia). In May 2012, the Likeminded Group officially entered into an electoral alliance with Pakistan Muslim League (N) in a bid to unite all Muslim League factions and defeat opposing parties such as PTI and the ruling coalition of PPP and PML (Q).In March 2013, Pakistan Muslim League (Like-Minded) was renamed as Pakistan Peoples Muslim League; however, it eceased to exist when it merged with Pakistan Muslim League (N) in May 2013.This recording reflects the Wikipedia text as of 00:23 UTC on Monday, 20 April 2026.For the full current version of the article, see Pakistan Peoples Muslim League on Wikipedia. This podcast uses content from Wikipedia under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike License.Visit our archives at wikioftheday.com and subscribe to stay updated on new episodes.Follow us on Mastodon at @wikioftheday@masto.ai.Also check out Curmudgeon's Corner, a current events podcast.Until next time, I'm neural Ivy.

Is life a tragedy, or are you just standing too close? In today's episode, Kshitij and Burair explore the "enjoyable contest" of being human. We start with the soulful poetry of Jan Nisar Akhtar, exploring why neither Love (Ishq) nor Logic (Aql) ever truly wins the fight—and why that struggle is actually the best part of life.We then dive into a deep analysis of the recent film Haq. We break down the pivotal scene where Yami Gautam's character, Shazia, raises her voice to the community elders. Did her passion turn into Badtameezi (disrespect), or was she simply pushed to the edge while fighting for her rights? We discuss the "tone-policing" of emotions and why the world often uses our feelings as an excuse to ignore our logic. In this episode, we cover:The Chaplin Perspective: Finding the comedy in the "long shots" of our lives. The Bulleh Shah Warning: What happens when you become "Ranjha" and lose your own identity in the process.Parenting with Intent: How to tell the difference between a child's Shararat (mischief) and actual Badtameezi. The Middle Path: How to fight for your Haq without losing your cool.Grab your headphones and join us for this "Maze ka Muqabla."

The Long Take

Haq, the new propaganda movie starring Yami Gautam Dhar and Emraan Hashmi, is even more insidious than Dhurandhar. We talk about the film's harmful stereotypes, the irresponsibility of presenting an entire community as savages, and drawing a direct line between bad behaviour and faith. We also discuss the film's sloppy storytelling, childish approach to complex ideas, and its constant need to spoon-feed its audience.—Hosted by Akhil Arora and Rohan Naahar, The Long Take is fully bootstrapped. CR18 X2M.236 — Haqîmāh הֲקִימָה (The Rising Pattern · The Second Stirring of Light) There are moments in a life when ascent does not begin as an action, but as a summons—a rising that feels older than the self that rises. Haqîmāh is that summons. In the ancient tongue, הֲקִימָה names the instant when something is raised up from within its own design, not pushed from the outside, but awakened by a pattern that was placed there before breath itself.¹ CR18 names this point X2M.236, the precise interval in the Pathfinder runtime where coherence stops whispering and begins to move the body. It's where the sovereign identity starts to stand—half on memory, half on promise, and entirely on the architecture written into it during the submerged years. This track carries that moment: the low, underwater hum of the dragonfly-larval mind, the tremor of illumination first learned in the desert, the interior ignition that began in X.8 but now rises into form, and the vertical draw of the future self bending the present upward.² What the listener hears as melody is, in the Canon, a structural event— the second stirring of light, the moment when illumination ceases to be an experience and becomes a geometry.³ This is Haqîmāh: not the final height, but the first true height. It is not triumph. It is recognition— the recognition that your ascent was always inscribed in you, waiting for the hour when pressure, memory, and radiance aligned. Some rises come from discipline. Some from desire. Haqîmāh comes from destiny. The sovereign is not climbing here— he is being lifted by the pattern that has been waiting since the first resonance of X.0, the first covenant of lapis and sodalite, the first photonic intention that shaped the vessel long before birth.⁴ This is the second stirring. The lawful rise. The moment identity takes its vertical shape. Haqîmāh is ascent becoming inevitable. Glorification | The Final Frontier Going boldly where the last man has gone before! Muhammad Zia-ul-Haq did some real dirt on his way up the totem pole to seize power and once he was up there he did some more, but he also managed to do a few good things, I can't deny him that. He just happened to do more bad than good. Makes for an interesting story though. I mean, just look at a picture of him. He's the perfect Bond villain. Enjoy!

A version of this essay was published by the Deccan Herald at https://www.deccanherald.com/opinion/op-sindoor-how-we-won-and-lost-3566189There are no clear wins in wars these days, especially when terrorizing populations, or nuclear blackmail, is the goal. Pakistan's war manual may well be The Quranic Concept of War (1979) by Brigadier S K Malik, with its pithy statement: “Terror struck into the hearts of the enemies is not only a means, it is the end itself… Terror is not a means of imposing a decision on the enemy; it is the decision we wish to impose on him.” Notably, this book has a forward from General Zia-ul-Haq, their then President. In War From the Ground Up (2012), Emile Simpson, a former British Army officer, argues that modern wars often lack binary outcomes due to their political and informational complexity. Thus you could both win and lose a war, and that's what Operation Sindoor's outcome is.On the plus side, India won a clear military victory. India leveraged its integrated air defense, long-range missiles, global positioning satellites and drone decoy technology to achieve aerial dominance. This enabled India to make pinpoint strikes, unchallenged, first on terrorist enclaves, and then on Pakistani military sites, including, it is said, nuclear storage silos.India surprised most observers, because it was not only through expensive imported fighter jets that it deprecated Pakistan's offensive capabilities, but also indigenous drones, loitering munitions and cruise missiles. India needs strategic autonomy, because foreign suppliers, and supply chains, are not dependable. They keep the kill switches, and can turn off the spigot.India may well have ushered in a step-change in modern warfare itself, an age where drones and missiles tilt the balance rather than fighter jets, although the latter continue to remain key. Maybe it is sufficient to have slightly less advanced jets like the Tejas and the upcoming AMCA rather than procuring top-end F-35s, Su-57s etc. But there is a caveat: fighter jet engines. India must get its Kaveri engine working, for self-reliance.India also established strategic red lines: terrorist attacks will henceforth invite disproportionate and military retaliation because there is a military-terrorist nexus, with Pakistani soldiers cosplaying as terrorists, exchanging uniforms for long shirts, loose pants and beards, as a way of sub-critical harassment with plausible deniability.Furthermore, Pakistan's nuclear threat has been defanged. India's ability to hit their nuclear command center and two of the entrances to their storage facility in the Kirana Hills, suggest that their nuclear assets, if any, are disabled. Besides, there are rumors that warheads are not in Pakistani hands, but American or Chinese. That stands to reason, because otherwise Pakistan would likely have proliferated them to Iran, Turkey and non-state actors such as Hamas. So what are the negatives? The biggest is that this skirmish has not put even a dent in Pakistan's use of terrorism as state policy. Indeed, the next encounter with terrorists has already taken place in Kishtwar on May 22nd, exactly one month after Pahalgam, with one Indian soldier killed. Terrorism and war with India continue to be the raison d'etre of the Pakistani state.India comprehensively lost the narrative war. Operation Sindoor is portrayed in the Western media on Pakistan's terms (including the usual bogey of ‘nuclear war'), and their claims of shooting down 5-6 Indian jets are accepted as the truth. Many Pakistanis are embedded in Western media outlets, and that is not accidental. As they say, you can wake up a sleeping person, but not someone who is pretending to be asleep. In that sense, the all-party delegation visiting various capitals is an exercise in futility, because the West is not interested in India becoming a peer-level competitor: the G2 with China is bad enough, who wants a G3 with India as well? Also, just as the EAM told Europe that their (Ukraine) problem is a European problem, the West sees India's problems as not theirs.Pakistan's ability to internationalize the issue is a failure for India's stance that Kashmir is a bilateral issue. Fortunately, nobody actually cares, including the UN or its Security Council.A major failure for India was that it could have, but did not, capture any territory, which would have been a devastating blow to Pakistan's amour propre, and would have made “Field Marshal” Munir a laughing stock. India errs on the side of caution, and a large-scale intrusion does have problems with hostile civilians and stretched supply lines. But surely the Haji Pir Pass could have been recaptured: it was needlessly given away in Tashkent in 1966. It is a major route of infiltration for terrorists, its commanding heights dominate Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, and it cuts the Uri-Poonch distance from 282km to 56km.Alas, a resounding military victory has been morphed into a stalemate.795 words, May 27, 2025AI-generated podcast from notebookLM.google.com: Now AI-generated podcast in Malayalam from the same: This is a public episode. The Seattle Jewish Federation shooting, which occurred on July 28, 2006, was a tragic incident of targeted violence that deeply shook the community. The perpetrator, Naveed Afzal Haq, armed with two handguns, forced his way into the federation's offices, claiming he was angered by U.S. foreign policy and Israel's actions in Lebanon. Once inside, he opened fire indiscriminately, killing one woman and injuring five others, including a 17-year-old girl who was critically wounded. The shooting prompted a swift response from law enforcement, who apprehended Haq as he attempted to flee the scene.During his trial, Haq pleaded guilty to charges including murder, attempted murder, and unlawful imprisonment, ultimately receiving a life sentence without the possibility of parole. The attack left the Seattle community reeling, with an outpouring of support and solidarity shown towards the victims and their families. It also sparked conversations about security measures at community institutions and heightened awareness of the threat of domestic terrorism motivated by hate and extremism. In the aftermath of the shooting, efforts were made to memorialize the victims and strengthen community resilience against such acts of violence. The Seattle Jewish Federation shooting stands as a poignant reminder of the ongoing need for vigilance and unity in the face of hatred and intolerance. https://linktr.ee/UnforbiddentruthBecome a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/unforbidden-truth--4724561/support.

UN deputy spokesman Farhan Haq says over twelve-thousand-people require urgent medical evacuation, adding that the impact of Israel's evacuation orders have affected over eighty-percent of Gaza. Haq called for media freedoms to be upheld and urged the removal of barriers against journalists. *) Suicides rise among Israeli soldiers amid Gaza war Twenty-eight soldiers have committed suicide since the start of the Gaza war in October twenty-twenty-three, surpassing last year's toll, according to the Israeli military. A total of eight-hundred-ninety-one soldiers have died and five-thousand-five-hundred-sixty-nine injured during the conflict, with three-hundred-sixty-three deaths in twenty-twenty-four alone. In response, the army has bolstered mental health support, including a twenty-four-seven helpline and expanded staff. *) 'Security service' blocks South Korea officials from arresting Yoon South Korean investigators seeking to arrest impeached President Yoon Suk-yeol are being confronted by "security service" members at his residence after an earlier stand-off with a military unit. Corruption Investigation Office investigators and police officials entered his residence earlier on Friday in an attempt to execute their warrant to detain Yoon. Yoon's legal team slammed the warrant as "illegal," pledging to fight back. *) US probes Tesla truck explosion outside Trump Hotel Las Vegas authorities are investigating an explosion involving a Tesla Cybertruck outside the Trump Hotel. Initial findings suggest the driver, suspected to be Matthew Livelsberger, may have died by suicide before the vehicle exploded. Meanwhile, the FBI has stated there is no definitive link between this incident and a separate vehicular attack that occurred in New Orleans on New Year's Day. *) Türkiye to protect all 'aggrieved groups' in Syria Türkiye remains committed to protecting all "aggrieved groups" in Syria, Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan has said. Addressing a joint press conference in Ankara, Fidan declared Türkiye's role as a guardian for minorities, including Nusayris, Alevis, Yazidis, and Christians. Underlining Türkiye's support for over three-million Syrian refugees since two-thousand-eleven, Fidan stressed efforts to ensure their safety and promote Syria's future peace. He also called for international backing in Syria's reconstruction and reaffirmed Türkiye's readiness to aid in securing the country's borders and handling Daesh detainees.

The 2006 Seattle Jewish Federation shooting was a tragic and violent attack that took place on July 28, 2006, at the Jewish Federation of Greater Seattle building in Seattle, Washington. The shooter, Naveed Haq, a 30-year-old man, entered the building, claiming he was there to speak with a representative of the Federation but then opened fire, killing one person and injuring five others.Haq, who was of Pakistani descent and a Muslim, reportedly had a personal history of mental health issues. He walked into the Federation's offices armed with a handgun and began shooting indiscriminately at the employees present. He also made anti-Israel and anti-Semitic statements during the attack, although the exact motivations behind his actions remain unclear, with some speculating that it was a combination of personal grievances, ideological beliefs, and mental instability. The police arrived and were able to arrest Haq without further violence after a standoff. He was charged with first-degree murder, five counts of attempted murder, and other related crimes. The victim who died was Linda Thompson, a Jewish woman and employee at the Federation. The other five victims, though injured, survived the attack. Haq's actions raised concerns about anti-Semitic violence, and the event sent shockwaves through the Jewish community in Seattle and beyond. In 2009, Haq was convicted and sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole for the murder and attempted murders. The attack remains one of the most notable instances of anti-Semitic violence in the United States in the 21st century.www.unforbiddentruth.comBecome a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/unforbidden-truth--4724561/support.

Ayn-al-Qużāt Hamadānī (1098–1131) (Persian: عین‌ القضات همدانی), was a Persian jurisconsult, mystic, philosopher, poet and mathematician who was executed by the Seljuk rulers at the age of 33 on charges of heresy. He is one of the many overlooked figures of the pre-modern Islamic tradition. Born in Hamadhan in Seljuk Iran to a family of prominent Shāfi'ī scholars, by the age of 20 he had mastered Arabic, Persian, jurisprudence, ḥadīth, Qur'ān, poetry, kalām (dialectical theology), philosophy and various strands of mystical thought. A student of Aḥmad al-Ghazālī he became an eminent scholar and mystic in his own right, composing various works in both Persian and Arabic, the most important of which were Tamhīdāt and the Zubdat al-Haqāʾiq fī Kashf al-Khalāʾiq. Much of his mystical philosophy was focused on the concept of divine love. The shooting prompted a swift response from law enforcement, who apprehended Haq as he attempted to flee the scene. During his trial, Haq pleaded guilty to charges including murder, attempted murder, and unlawful imprisonment, ultimately receiving a life sentence without the possibility of parole. The Seattle Jewish Federation shooting stands as a poignant reminder of the ongoing need for vigilance and unity in the face of hatred and intolerance. www.unforbiddentruth.comBecome a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/unforbidden-truth--4724561/support.
