My name is Alexander Robinson and I am a visual artist who decided to create a podcast called Art is Human Nature where I plan to redefine what an arts education can be. As an artist, whenever there's a topic that interests me, I make a painting about it, but lately, I've been wanting to learn more about the topics that inspire my art; I want to redefine what an arts education can be. So you may be wondering how do I plan on doing that? Well for each episode, I'll be talking with someone who knows a lot about the ideas that inspire my art and I'll also be sharing my artwork with them. If I make a painting inspired by the concept of love, I'll be speaking with a marriage therapist. If I make a painting inspired by comedy, I'll speak with a comedian. You get the idea. There's going to be conversations about things like love, therapy, and activism and there's going to be a lot of cool art too, so if you are interested in taking this journey with me, feel free to subscribe and follow the Art is Human Nature podcast. And finally, if you'd like to see the artwork shared in each episode make sure you visit artbyrobinson {.com} Music produced by Roosevelth

James Oster @JimmyToTheO Carla Renata @TheCurvyCritic Alexander Robinson @RealMr_Robinson Presenting LAOFCS Weekly, where members of the Los Angeles Online Film Critics Society come together to discuss new topics of the weeks, the movies you may have missed but need to check out, and reveal insider information of the film and journalism industry. Join host Scott Menzel with a rotating panel of members of the LAOFCS as they bring you into the inner circle with heightened discussion and knowledge. The film can be playing in theaters, on-demand, or various streaming services. -Retro Rewind - A weekly recommendation of an older release that is currently available on streaming, DVD, or Blu-Ray. -Special Topic - Each week there will be a special conversation about something going on the industry or something that ties into this week's episode. Who are the LAOFCS? Los Angeles is the home of Hollywood and the film industry. There are hundreds of critics in the Los Angeles area and yet there was only one critic's circle. San Francisco, New York, Austin, and all other major cities throughout the USA have an online critics group but not Los Angeles. We wanted to change that and therefore launched the Los Angeles Film Critics Society (LAOFCS) at the end of 2016. By creating this group, they wanted to ensure that the members of their society are reflective of those who reside in the city of Los Angeles. Diversity is very important in film criticism and they want to make sure that all voices are represented within our group. They also want to embrace members that are finding new ways to criticize film whether that be through video, podcasts, or on social media. Over the next few years, the Los Angeles Online Film Critics Society is hoping to redefine what it means to be part of a film critics group by having a year-round presence. Most film critic circles at the end of each year begin to appear to discuss their favorite films of the year. They wanted to create a film critics group that would openly discuss film throughout the year and not just during award season.

Our penultimate Mini-Session interview from 'Next Up: The LA River' pairs Renee Dake Wilson with Alexander Robinson. Dake Wilson, principal at Dake Wilson Architects, was appointed by LA Mayor Eric Garcetti to serve as Vice President on the city's volunteer-based Planning Commission—an array of professionals who make recommendations between communities and the city on planning projects. On the commission, she's worked particularly with proposals to change the height and density limits on development in Elysian Valley, aka Frogtown—the neighborhood along the LA River that has become a major node in the city's ongoing gentrification discussion. Robinson, while teaching at USC as an assistant professor, runs the Office of Outdoor Research and just recently completed a term as a Rome Prize recipient, researching the Tiber River as it relates to LA's and other cities' river infrastructures. He has also previously worked with Mia Lehrer's office on LA River projects.
