Contractors play a vital role in the tillage industry and this week on The Tillage Edge podcast, Michael Hennessy chats to two contractors, Patrick Nolan, who is working close to Athy, Co Kildare and Padraig Noonan, close to Conna in Cork. Both men outline the pressures to completing work during the past 10 days with Padraig saying they have completed most of the spring planting, however he mentioned a shift from tillage to grass in his area which is reducing the overall area this year. Patrick Nolan has more tillage area to plant and feels he is a little more behind due to other demands such as emptying slurry tanks. Both contractors agree the poor winter pushed more work to the spring making it harder to satisfy all customers at once. On this week's episode, we're joined by Patrick Nolan, executive director of Friends of the Organ Mountains-Desert Peaks. We'll also be joined by Sen. Jeff Steinborn (D-Las Cruces), as well as Kyla Navarro, policy and community coordinator for Friends of the OMDP. The New Mexico Legislative Session recently wrapped up and Friends of the Organ Mountains-Desert Peaks celebrated the legislature's decision to fund a feasibility study, which is a step towards establishing a new state park in Southern New Mexico. The Broad Canyon Ranch property was acquired by the New Mexico State Parks Division in 2008 to be a destination for outdoor education. It also holds potential as a foraging and nesting habitat for various avian species. Due to budget cuts during the previous administration, the property was never opened to the public. Friends of the OMDP hopes to establish Broad Canyon Ranch as a state park for the safe public access to Slot Canyon, north of Las Cruces, and the Rio Grande corridor. This destination has increased in popularity the past few years but sits on the edge of state-owned land and national monument land. Due to this reason, accessing this destination became contentious for trespassing concerns, treading on state land to access federal lands. With funding provided through the “Junior Bill,” Sen. Steinborn and Rep. Nathan Small (D-Las Cruces) were able to allocate money to fund the study. We'll talk about the challenges this could help overcome, how it's a necessary first step to create a state park, what the current situation looks like and how we got here, and what exactly the “Junior Bill” is.

Toronto-based, TRAITRS was formed in 2015 by Sean-Patrick Nolan and Shawn Tucker. With a cinematic blend of post-punk, goth and alternative, their emotive melodies, propulsive rhythms, angular guitars and dark cinematic electronics quickly led to the duo becoming one of the dark music scene's fastest rising independent artist. Their lead single "Magdalene' from the preceding limited 10" vinyl "The Sick, Tired and Ill" spent 5 consecutive weeks at #1 on the German Alternative Charts (DAC).Their relentless touring schedule and work ethic caught the attention of Thomas Thyssen and Eric Burton of Schubert Music Publishing and in October 2020 they were signed to their brand-new record label called Freakwave Records, a Berlin-based label that is part of the Schubert Music Europe group. They just released their latest single, "Mouth Poisons" and earlier, "Oh Ballerina" from their anticipated full-length album, "Horses in the Abattoir" produced by Josh Korody and mastered by Pete Maher to be released in November 19, 2021 on limited edition vinyl, CD and digital. https://orcd.co/horsesintheabattoirhttps://traitrs.bandcamp.comSubscribe to my monthly mailing list for the latest music news, updates and my next interviews and events:http://eepurl.com/gtw6PPQUEEN OF WANDS with DJ NOCTURNAEvery Saturday on MODSNAP Alternative RadioKMOD: San AntonioListen : http://modsnapradio.comPlaylist and podcast: https://djnocturna.com2pm to 4pm (HST/Hawaii Standard Time)5pm to 7pm (PST/Pacific Standard Time)6pm to 8pm (MST/ Mountain Standard Time)7pm to 9pm (CST/Central Standard Time)8pm to 10pm (EST/Eastern Standard Time

Today when we think about the publishing industry, we usually think about the ways that it is changing to accommodate the digital world. E-books, E-readers, cloud storage and white backgrounds dominate the conversation. But believe it or not, there have been other times when the publishing industry has been rocked by fundamental change and when that change was met with fervent resistance. One of those times was eighty years ago when an executive name Allen Lane, had this idea for something called “paperback books.”Books that would be more accessible to the masses. Available not just in bookstores, but in train stations, newsstands and and even the corner grocer. That fundamental idea by Lane, has been a part of all our lives and of our reading and learning experience. It also became the basis for the company that he started, Penguin Books. One of the most iconic names in publishing today. An imprint that today is the flagship of Penguin Random House and on this very day marks its eightieth anniversary.Looking back and looking forward at the publishing industry is Patrick Nolan, VP, Editor in Chief and Associate Publisher at Penguin Books. My conversation with Patrick Nolan:
