Zelia shares her journey, including the role manifestation has played in helping her to have a real impact. She shares practical ways you can use it to help you to make incremental changes to improve your life and the lives of the others you touch while protecting the planet. The 21-day Manifestation is back sign up here before 2nd January 2025- https://pausepenny.com/product/january-21-day-challenge KEY TAKEAWAYS Having a goal in mind and imagining yourself achieving it is a powerful way to influence your subconscious to spot every opportunity. You have to take action. Often, that means pushing yourself to take a step you may not feel 100% ready for. When someone does something well, take the time to tell them. We all need to offer more encouragement. It lifts people and inspires them. Don´t be so self-critical. Having a purpose is vital. Wanting to give back and do so in a way that protects the planet, and its people is what drove Zelia to found Conscious Convert. When you create products that truly meet the needs of your customers and fits in with their values they are incredibly thankful, which makes you feel amazing. Sometimes good is good enough. If you are a perfectionist you can easily get stuck in a rut. Don´t try to manifest too many things at once. You´ve only got so much space in your head and so much mental energy. If you want to support the planet, make one change a month. Your efforts really add up. Being in a manifesting group is powerful – when you are a bit low the others are there to pull you up. BEST MOMENTS “It´s all about who you're surrounding yourself with .” “Tell them how great they are. Tell them they did a good job, even if it's a little thing, because it makes a huge difference.” “Everything I do, I want to make a difference.” “I do believe you still have to put yourself out there.” “They (the workers) are protected now, not just respected.” “If you're following your passion and purpose … you'll start to connect certain dots in your life.” “That tribe comes when you put yourself out there, when you start following your passion and your purpose and believing in yourself.” EPISODE RESOURCES https://consciousconvert.com https://global-standard.org Sign up for Yvonne´s 21 Day Manifestation Challenge here - https://pausepenny.com/product/january-21-day-challenge VALUABLE RESOURCES website: pausepenny.com Instagram: @yvonnetchrakian_manifest @pause.penny LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/yvonne-tchrakian-64257619/ HOST BIO Yvonne started her career as a corporate lawyer for one of Ireland's top law firms. “A lot of the keys to decarbonisation are really simple, cheap ones if only we could break ourselves out of our normal patterns,” says Arup's Joan Ko in this illuminating episode of Game Changers and Transition Makers. In conversation with Ashurst's Elena Lambros, Joan describes how Arup works with clients to engineer more sustainable environments and communities. Joan advocates a place-based approach to decarbonisation, where local infrastructure and social networks are reimagined to create climate-positive outcomes. She also emphasises the value of leveraging existing resources, such as under-used buildings, to achieve cost effective low-carbon solutions. Along the way, Joan and Elena zoom in and out from the private sector to the public sector and from the personal to the political to reveal smarter ways to achieve climate action. I recently had the privilege of attending the White House Southwest Regional Business Briefing, where we heard directly from Biden-Harris Administration officials about the ongoing efforts to bolster our local economies through entrepreneurship and small business ownership. The discussions were rich with insights and resources aimed at supporting businesses, especially those committed to creating family-friendly workplaces. At Family Friendly NM, our mission is to support businesses in thriving by fostering environments where families can flourish. We believe that when businesses adopt family-friendly policies, they not only enhance the well-being of their employees but also drive productivity, loyalty, and overall success. The White House briefing reaffirmed the importance of our mission and provided valuable resources to help us continue this crucial work. At Family Friendly NM, we recognize that implementing family-friendly policies is a key driver of business success. Policies such as flexible working hours, paid family leave, and on-site or near site childcare not only support employees in balancing work and family life but also enhance employee satisfaction and retention. During the briefing, I had the opportunity to ask two critical questions that are close to our hearts at Family Friendly NM: Childcare for Small Business Owners and Entrepreneurs: I inquired about the availability and support for childcare solutions tailored to the unique needs of small business owners and entrepreneurs. The response was encouraging, highlighting that the SBA recognizes the importance of accessible childcare and is working to include this in their support programs. They emphasized that integrating childcare support is crucial for enabling entrepreneurs to focus on growing their businesses without sacrificing their families' needs. Family-Friendly Workplaces as a Strategy for Business Development: I also asked how the SBA is positioning family-friendly workplaces as a key strategy for supporting business development. While the SBA is doing incredible work in supporting small businesses, they have not yet fully integrated the messaging about the critical role family-friendly workplaces play in business development. This is where Family Friendly NM steps in. We will continue to be the voice advocating for the integration of family-friendly policies as a core business strategy,...

The past year has been a time of climate firsts, mainly for the wrong reasons. 2023 was the hottest year on record - with devastating wildfires, catastrophic flooding, ongoing loss of biodiversity and carbon emissions continuing to rise. But is there any hope for the possibility for a better future? Well, there is in fact room for ‘cautious optimism' says environmental scientist, Dr Hannah Ritchie, whose book Not the End of the World offers a data-based analysis of environmental problems and their solutions. Her view stems from the significant strides made in human progress across the world, and the advancements of technology, especially within renewable energies. Today on Ways to Change the World, she tells Krishnan Guru-Murthy how her work taught her that there are more reasons for hope than despair about the climate and the planet we live on - and why a truly sustainable world can still be within reach. Produced by Silvia Maresca.

Barbara Tibbetts and I met sort of by chance on Linkedin, when a friend (shout out to Ande Lyons!) tagged me in Barbara's post about the Sustainability event she hosted in Nantucket this summer, and we've been talking regularly ever since - we found that we have a lot in common; we're both trying to spread the word about sustainability and that we should all be making more of an effort...Here is a quote from her podcast guest form: "We can all make choices to live sustainably with the correct knowledge and make a difference for our health and the health and well being of our planet." Does that sound like someone that I'd want to hang out with, or what?Barbara has started developing a website - a resource, to search different ways of being sustainable - it's still in the works, and possibly always will be, but check out Living and Playing in a Sustainable world here: https://www.lapsnow.com/Barbara is currently focusing a lot of her energy learning about PFAS, and trying to repair some of the damage done during our non-stick everything phase. She's so passionate, and is doing some excellent work; listen for more in this episode! You can find Barbara on Instagram here: https://www.instagram.com/livandplay She's also on Linkedin here: https://www.linkedin.com/in/barbara-tibbetts-12a0326b/ And her Youtube channel is here: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC7Vd14AZwYV0oPbbI8O0XzASupport the showPlease follow Grounded In Maine podcast on Instagram here , or on Facebook hereYouTube channel link is here You can DM me there, post, or email me at amysgardenjam@gmail.com. In This Episode: The evidence is striking as we spotlight the escalating impacts of climate change within Silicon Valley. In just a year, extreme heat enveloped the area, with ten locations enduring over 30 unusually warm nights. Meanwhile, Silicon Valley grappled with severe aridity, enduring 13 of the driest months on record. Adding to the area's environmental woes, the relentless march of sea level rise continues unabated, with a century-long increase of approximately 200 millimeters, or 8 inches, in Silicon Valley alone. These indicators mark shifts in our climate and signal urgent calls to action for mitigation and adaptation strategies. The average person in Canada produces an equivalent of 14.2 tonnes of CO2 yearly. In the United States, the number goes up to 17.5 tonnes of carbon dioxide. Most people have no idea about those numbers or even what they mean. And Michelle Li is trying to make sure people understand the impact of their daily lives on the environment. As a former Silicon Valley employee, she made it her mission to teach as many people as possible about carbon footprint in a fun and hip way. Clever Carbon was founded with that vision, trying to close the gap on carbon illiteracy for a more transparent and accountable world. The company combines pop culture, fun colours and characters, and sustainability in an easy-to-digest way, making the topic more approachable and actionable. Michelle speaks to Marco about what made her leave Silicon Valley to open her eco-company, why she chose education as her business model, and why she believes teaching people about their daily impacts on the environment will make the world more sustainable. Clever Carbon helps achieve that goal by turning carbon footprint into a fun game that can engage teams, families, and schools to reduce some of the damages generating the climate crisis. Sustainability has quickly risen to the top of corporate agendas, as shareholders, investors, employees, policy makers, and other stakeholders demand action. We talk with two passionate leaders – Kate Brandt, Chief Sustainability Officer at Google and Sophia Mendelsohn, former Chief Sustainability Officer and Head of ESG at Cognizant – about how they embed sustainability into their organizations' core business strategy. They'll share how they've mastered the role of “CEO whisperer” to drive top-down change and connect sustainability initiatives to their company's business, products and supply chain. We'll talk about why it's critical to shift our thinking from how to reduce our business impact on climate change to how to reduce climate change's impact on our business. And for those interested in becoming a CSO, Kate and Sophia share their career advice on how to navigate the often-undefined path to the role. In today's world of rapid movement, fast furniture is a real problem in almost every home. When people change addresses, they often discard a huge chunk of their furniture, only to buy new ones upon arriving to their next place. This only leads to tons of trash, and Michael Barlow is here to put an end to the dangers of fast furniture. Joining Corinna Bellizzi, he shares how they bring furniture into the service economy through Fernish, giving people the freedom to rent, swap, or rent-to-buy depending on their needs. He explains how this business model can help push the reuse economy forward and finally get rid of the IKEA culture. Michael also discusses how they minimize their carbon footprint by keeping a localized team and sourcing from local communities. About Guest:Michael Barlow is the co-founder and CEO of Fernish and sets the vision and strategy as the company changes the way people create and relate to their homes. After completing his fifth move in eight years, Michael co-founded Fernish in 2017, a furniture-as-a service business designed to bring furniture into the service economy and give people the freedom to rent, swap, rent-to-buy, buy or return furniture as their life and living situations change. Prior to starting Fernish, Michael was Vice President of Atom Tickets and started his career at J.P. Morgan where he focused on mergers, acquisitions and leveraged finance (which was also the first time he had to carry a sofa up a four floor walk-up). In this opening episode of Season 3, eighteen year old Climate activist Sarah Syed emphasizes how small actions can lead to giant differences in preserving our planet and future.Sarah talks about her journey and how she started taking an interest in the preservation of the climate. As a fourth grade project presenter in school, she learned that it wasn't just about global warming but so many other things like our food systems, fossil fuels and energy sustainability. Poverty is also a factor to contend with, she realized, and how our actions have a long term effect on the planet. Her journey began when she realized that humans weren't living in harmony with nature, leading to an equilibrium loss. She had to make small changes in her own life, such as using a reusable water bottle instead of a plastic one.Our guest sees climate change as a gigantic puzzle piece. Need for renewable energy, tackling gender inequality and poverty, all contribute to climate change - as education could foster innovation to help solve and mitigate the issue. Sarah emphasizes the importance of taking action now in order to create a better future. She believes that technology is not the only solution to addressing climate change and that in order to have a sustainable future, a balance of technology, community, businesses, government and individuals is necessary. Her passion for science and technology drove her to work on a project to create a biosorbant, or a sponge made from biomass, which can remove 98% of oil and heavy metals from water. We also talk about -- Why climate change is perceived just as global warming- Need to cut deforestation- Her involvement with "You are the change"- How youth of today can participate and make a difference- The different avenues that one can resort to and help resolve this crisis- How to get involved in climate movements- Mix of creating awareness and leadership, starting one's own climate journey.- Sarah using her passion area to drive change - technology: bio sorbants, IoT in agriculture, AI based transparent rotating solar cell, 3D printable biodegradable coffee pod- Multi pronged approach : advocacy, innovation and incorporating personal life changes- Need to address our food eco systemLike my guest rightly put it, "It's more about how our actions of today and tomorrow can lead to more hope."Tune in and derive actionable insights to build a more sustainable future!Link to Sarah's LI page and website:linkedin.com/in/sarah-syed-715a50201https://sarahsyed34.wixsite.com/portfolioBuzzsprout - Let's get your podcast launched! He asks: What is society asking of you? What is the opportunity inside of your organization? What are you personally passionate about shifting and repairing? Listen in to this conversation to get inspired and get in action in the ways that are important to you. About the Guest: Simon Bailey is the managing director of LSP leadership. In leading LSP leadership, he sees clearly the necessity to work with leaders and their organizations to bring about an accelerated transition towards the sustainable enterprise. Simon coaches in multinational organizations, multi sector SMEs and with individual leaders in transition. Prior to joining LSP leadership in 2003, Simon served in the army as an infantry officer leading operations and training in Asia, Europe and the Middle East.
