Welcome to Episode 46 of ANATAD Podcast. Over the next few weeks, we will be comparing Android vs iPhone and seeing who comes out on top.We started off this episode by thanking our podcast host Buzzsprout for the excellent work they have done on accessibility with their website. They have added headings on pages to help with navigation, added buttons to the tab order to easily be reached with the keyboard, and added keyboard shortcuts for items in the editor toolbar to help with editing each episode's show notes. In the news this week: Google sent out an email this week alerting users to a change about how voice data for Google Assistant is being stored. To learn more or to change the setting, use this link. Android Beta 3 was released this past week, so the team discussed enhancements to accessibility in this third, and potentially final beta. Long-pressing on the record button in messaging apps works again. Moving apps by dragging, as well as accessing launcher shortcuts has been fixed. Badge counts on folders is now accurately reported. The Pixel 4A was released this week, and Warren has ordered it for demoing on a future episode of the cast. You can order one by visiting this link. Before ordering though, listen to the podcast to find out what Nimer and Marco think about the value of this device. Samsung held its unpacked event, and released the Z Flip, the new Samsung Buds, and the new Galaxy watch, a new tablet, and the Note 20 and the Note 20 Ultra.Find out what our team thinks of the new Note devices, as well as, in general, all flagship devices from this year. WhatsApp is giving us good news this week. They are encrypting their cloud they are allowing messages to expire after a week And they are adding multiple device support. Comparing Android with iPhoneDuring our main section this week, Nimer and Marco compared Android and iOS in a number of areas. We compared adjusting speech rate. We compared the phone app. We compared the messages app, and agreed that icons seem smaller, and thus harder to explore to on iOS. We discussed granularity adjustments, and the changes upcoming to granularity in Android 11. To cap it off, we discussed keyboards on both platforms and you may well be surprised with our findings. Listener Emails We addressed an email by Gary in regards to the Odin PC application for installing Samsung ROMs. We addressed a message by Ben Young in regards to whether zoom gestures can be changed, and whether it is possible to read from next using Talkback. On this week's episode of The Chrome Cast, we set out to cover quite a few items that were pretty disconnected at the outset. Instead, we talked for quite some time about gaming on phones and then a particular, upcoming phone in a more detailed and specific way. The Pixel 4a has been rumored and leaked as much as we can expect, so it's time for it to just get here already. There's now an arrival date suspected and additionally, a bit of fresh rumor that it will be cheaper than initially expected and doubled-up on the storage, too. The second half of the show revolves around the Lenovo Chromebook Duet and its interesting storyline surrounding the inability to extend the display in the way you would expect from a Chromebook. This current deficiency leads to all sorts of thoughts about this device that delivers in so many other key ways. NOTABLE LINKS It turns out the Lenovo Chromebook Duet is a lot more unique than we first thought Chrome's “Live Caption” feature will get customization controls Key feature missing in the Lenovo Chromebook Duet keeps it from being a true Chromebook replacement Yes, the Lenovo Chromebook Duet will run Linux apps Google Pixel 4a might be released in early June at Android Beta event Unboxing the Lenovo Chromebook Duet [VIDEO] --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/chromeunboxed/support

Your favorite Marks Mirchandani and Mandel are back hosting this week to touch base with Angela Yu about recent updates in Google Maps. As Angela describes Google Maps at a high level, it is your window into the real world, with coverage of Earth’s land and oceans. Google works hard to keep that information updated with satellite pictures, street view Google vehicles, and even backpacks for hikers to record hard to reach areas. The Google Maps API makes it easy for developers to use Maps data in their own projects. It can be used for something as simple as showing location to something more complicated, for example showing the user specific things around them to help them make decisions. Game developers can create rich experiences by building real-world gaming situations with Maps and augmented reality. Using the Places API can display parks, government buildings, and other interesting places beyond streets. And the Routes API can expand the user experience by providing directions, tracking drivers in real time, etc. Maps and Google Cloud together work well with BigQuery to search huge amounts of data and visualize them on a map. In the future, Angela is particularly excited about how ridesharing apps will continue to use Maps and Routes to optimize their businesses. She also looks forward to more augmented reality projects beyond gaming, where data, directions, and more are overlaid on the physical world. Thank you so much for your support of this new series. The revenue we’re receiving is allowing us more time to focus on the content of Frightday, and we’re really grateful for that.

On this episode of the Droid Life Show, we're back to (finally) recap Google I/O, the latest in Android P and the Android P Beta, the new Google News experience, what's coming later this year to Wear OS, and more from Google's big developer conference. But that's not all! We need to talk OnePlus 6 now that it has been announced, Tim's thoughts on the G7 ThinQ after spending a couple of weeks with it, what we are expecting from the HTC U12+ next week, and what to make of YouTube Music and YouTube Premium. It's going to be a lengthy show, so unfortunately, that means no trivia this week. Apologies for that. It will return with our next show, though!
