De retour de la conférence de l'Organisation mondiale du commerce, le ministre haïtien du Commerce, James Monazard, répond aux questions de RFI. Au micro d'Anne Cantener, James Monazard évoque la situation économique en Haïti. Une situation qui ne cesse de se dégrader depuis sept ans, mais dont la chute a été moins forte l'année dernière. Malgré l'insécurité qui mine le quotidien du pays, le ministre du Commerce vante sa « potentialité » en termes d'investissements. « Les transferts de l'étranger représentent près de 4 milliards de dollars américains par an. On veut motiver la diaspora pour qu'une partie de cet argent aille directement dans les investissements », explique James Monazard. Le ministre le martèle : le redressement économique du pays passe obligatoirement par la création d'emplois. Toujours en Haïti, l'attaque meurtrière commise dans le département de l'Artibonite fait la Une du site de l'agence Alterpresse. Une attaque qui a eu lieu dans la nuit de dimanche à lundi dans la localité de Jean Denis, à Petite Rivière de l'Artibonite. Le bilan n'est pas tout à fait définitif mais on sait déjà qu'il sera très lourd. Gotson Pierre, directeur de l'agence Alterpresse évoque « une nuit d'horreur ». Dans ce contexte d'insécurité, Alterpresse relaie aussi l'appel des transporteurs routiers. Le mouvement unifié des transporteurs haïtiens pense que la tenue d'élections pourrait aider à débloquer les grands axes dans le pays.
