We arrive in April, and it has been eight months since Marwa and Raha began talking about their daily lives with reporter Caroline Gillet. Raha is in Kabul, Marwa in a refugee camp in Abu Dhabi. They say that documenting what they are experiencing and sharing helps to compensate for the immobility. The economic situation in Afghanistan is dramatic following the freezing of international aid which financed nearly 80% of the Afghan budget. Half of the country is threatened by hunger. Aid is conditional on measures promised by the Taliban in favor of human rights and women's rights in particular, such as the return of adolescent girls to school.Marwa and Raha celebrate Ramadan in very new conditions. These religious events are perhaps the last things that connect them. In this episode, their two trajectories will separate radically. While Marwa is far from her family, Raha is surrounded, but explosions make her fear for her mother's life, and push her employers to fire her. Marwa finally has her tickets to go to Germany.By Caroline Gillet with Marwa and Raha. The original podcast broadcast on France INTER / RADIO FRANCE © RADIO FRANCE. Why am I so angry? I've been praying, I've been praying It's been 1,000 days Been playing games, Nobody came to save you, eh? Hey, Are you okay? And the answer is maybe Maybe, maybe, mayday mayday I've been… Spending time, desensitizing Blind, been trying to find my mind | I've been, Staying inside, deciding How to run from father time (I am) I've been, Keeping tears inside my eyes, I'm hypnotized, I am the light | I've been, Staying up at night, And praying, playing “lost my mind” Walking away from the Bass Parade, Shamefully, Saying “I'm okay, I'm not crazy, I'm just famous, Blame the player, I just made the game” I made it I don't want it to be infinite, I just want to fit the picture You get it? Jon and Kurt decided to capitalize on the fact that they recorded this episode the day after April First and put out a topical discussion about pranks. They found historical jokes centuries old that fooled many middle agers (not someone in their 50s, but someone who lived centuries ago) and some that got the masses hook line and sinker in the 20th century. And lots in between. Give a listen and get inspired for the next April Fools Day. Maybe you will find one worth repeating (but we advise against trotting out “War of the Worlds” again).

GUEST HOST: David Menzies For all you climate offenders out there, the kid gloves are coming off now given that the ECCC is going to get its own law enforcement staff. So, if you're looking for a rewarding career in policing… would you believe a sort-of career in quasi-policing, you know, like being a member of the CN Police? – well, you have until the end of the month to apply for such a job via the federal government job board. I wonder if the feds are going to get Hugo Boss to make the uniforms? Oh, it's not just a bunch of green cops the ECCC is assembling by the way, but a new whiz-bang facility is also going up in Winnipeg. It will have interrogation rooms, biological labs, controlled quiet rooms, intelligence facilities, media relations offices, and a firearms armoury. Obviously, the green cops are exempt from Trudeau's gun grab. And it's all in the name of so-called “climate enforcement”; your tax dollars hard at work yet again! You know, when I first came across this story, I immediately checked the calendar… perhaps I had fallen into a coma some eight months ago and had awakened on April First. But no, this Climate Cop initiative is no April Fool's Day joke. The government is denying it.
In a return from a one week hiatus, Matt and Ryan offer yet another meaningless take on the slap heard round the world... but wait, there's more slap related content! Then they discuss a mysterious meme that seems to show a well preserved tyrannosaurus fossil in the woods of rural Tennessee. Then they discuss the peak moment when vulcanological comedy erupted onto the scene in a global explosion of core-bursting laughter.Find us on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, TikTok, and Gmail @wreckyourpodChat with us on the CastJunkie Discord Server: https://discord.gg/z5GMvpmyTZ

Happy Tuesday! Happy Holidays! We are so lucky to have a full hour with Shawn Wells! Today, Shawn and Bernadette will be talking about avoiding holiday weight gain and affirming your health goals during the holidays! We here at One Life Radio are so excited! So let's get started! Shawn Wells Shawn Wells is a Master of Public Health, Licensed Dietitian, Registered Dietitian, Certified Sports Nutritionist from the International Society of Sports Nutrition. He is also a Fellow of the International Society of Sports Nutrition. Shawn Wells is the world’s leading nutritional biochemist and expert on Health Optimization. He has formulated over 500 supplements and patented 10 novel ingredients. Formerly a Chief Clinical Dietitian with over a decade of clinical experience, he has counseled thousands of people on natural health solutions such as keto, paleo, fasting, and supplements. As a world-renowned thought-leader on mitochondrial health, he has been paid to speak on five different continents. His insights have been prominently featured in documentaries, nationally syndicated radio programs, and regularly on morning television. Shawn’s expertise can help any health-conscious high achiever to better manage stress and experience higher performance and more energy through utilizing his practical wholistic solutions. Enjoying The Holidays Without Weight Gain Shawn's new book comes out April First! He pushed it back a bit to make sure it was perfect for the reader, chocked full of information that is life changing. Shawn wanted to make his new book less "scientific" and more laymen's terms for ease for the reader. Be reasonable on portion sizes. You CAN make healthier recipes for the holidays. You don't have to double down on double portions or sugary treats. Control is yours! You don't have to feed off your significant other's or families eating habits, but rather implement your own. Shawn gains weight during the holidays, but we all do. There is a certain amount that he will allow, but he has a cutoff. Shawn says don't let things get out of control. Shawn says eat until you're 80% full. But how do you know? When you are starting to "feel full," stop. You are actually full and will feel it in about 20-30 minutes. Alcoholic drinks, like many other drinks, contain calories that can add up quickly. Going out for a couple of drinks can add 500 calories, or more, to your daily intake. Most alcoholic drinks have little to no nutritional value. Be careful of your go-to drink! Bring your own healthy side dish. Your family typically doesn't know what regiment you're on to, i.e keto, etc. Avoid the guilt and shame and just bring your own side dish or dessert! Allow yourself the grace to enjoy some decadent treats but always be mindful. When you really enjoy the environment you're in and have the gratitude, Shawn says the food nourishes you differently. Thank You! A big thank you to our guests, Shawn Wells! Visit Shawn Wells on his website here, and follow him on his Instagram, @ingredientologist! Thank you to all of our One Life Radio listeners. Cause and effect. When you do something it has an effect on something else. The other side is when you don’t do something it still affects something. Last week CJ talked about the difficulties of not having the same routine that he’s had over the last few years. Because he hasn’t had the same routine it was affecting how he went about his day. Today he starts the conversation with somewhat of an epiphany and how although he’s not able to have his normal routine, he still has an opportunity to fix his gaps and increase his strengths. ET rounds out the conversation on what you can do to regain your confidence and how to take advantage of this time instead of letting it pass by. I found out I was pregnant on April First. It wasn’t a joke. Butt dialing causes some hesitant on moving in together. Just too much. Pray for us or just him.
All of Jeff’s wines share a theme of fresh fruit reflective of the varietal flavors inherent in the grapes. Jeff selects grapes from vineyards that provide rich full flavors without loads of astringent tannins. Personally, Jeff prefers his wines to have zest and vibrant flavors. “Once I release a new vintage I rarely return to the previous year’s wine. My father likes that; it means more of the older wines for him.” Jeff produces wines from grapes grown throughout California. At last count he was planning to crush over twenty different varieties from nine different appellations for the 2013 vintage. Most of these wines are produced in very small limited quantities. However, there are four principle wines that the winery strives to have available throughout the year and they are: Petite Sirah, Zinfandel, Barbera, and Petit Verdot. Jeff started his adventure in the wine industry in 1977 when he interned with Seagrams at their Paul Masson Sherry Cellars in Madera while studying enology at UC Davis. Upon graduating in 1980, he worked in the cellar at Montevina in Amador County’s Shenandoah Valley and was promoted to winemaker in 1982. After a three year stint at the Napa Valley Cooperative Winery from 1987 through 1990, Jeff became the winemaker for the J. Lohr winery in San Jose. It was during his tenure at J. Lohr that it became clear that he was going to have to make wine for himself. In 1995 Jeff crushed ten tons of zinfandel from the Massoni Ranch in Amador’s Shenandoah Valley and on April First 1997 he released 700 cases of that Zinfandel under his own label. In 1996 and 1997 Jeff made his wine at the Sycamore Creek Winery in Morgan Hill and then from 1998 through the 2010 vintage at the McManis Family Vineyard Winery in Ripon. In 2006 he finally returned to Amador County having purchased a small five acre walnut orchard on Shenandoah Road. In the spring of 2008 Jeff and Margie opened their tasting room. Production facilities followed and Jeff was able to crush the majority of their production in Amador in 2011.
This Week in Oklahoma Politics, KOSU's Michael Cross talks with Republican Political Consultant Neva Hill and ACLU Oklahoma Executive Director Ryan Kiesel about the deadline for lawmakers to fund education by April First came and went without a budget despite a teacher walkout last year, state leaders criticize Attorney General Mike Hunter in the settlement with Purdue Pharma and vandals strike central Oklahoma buildings with hate-filled graffiti. The trio also discusses a coalition is forming to get more people involved in the 2020 U.S. Census which begins in one year and, starting this month, election officials are purging the voter rolls in a "Use it or Lose it" voting policy. In this special double-episode, Ken shares hilarious highlights from last year’s April Fool’s Day around the world. If you’re curious, looking for laughs, or seeking inspiration for your own pranks this April, check out the collection! Some colleges and universities put real energy into prank media releases, hoax videos, or absurd webpages each April First. Last year, in “Ten Kinds of April Foolery,” we inventoried the basic categories, from minor name changes or new mascots to outrageous infrastructure announcements or bizarre new program offerings. We also analyzed the typical structure: begin with something almost reasonable, build credibility with authoritative sound bytes, pile on the absurdities and puns, and finally (often) deflate the whole hoax. Check out last year’s special at https://youtu.be/v-dSiWr3KHM On April 1 2016, we carefully monitored thousands of higher ed news releases and video feeds, and here are some of the highlights we found. (This summary doesn’t do the jokes justice at all – watch the episode!) Thompson Rivers University tweeted that they were dropping the “S” from their name. Ohio State University’s colours were being renamed “ruby and porpoise.” The University of Oregon announced an incredible upgrade to their playing field. SAIT Polytechnic almost unveiled their new visual identity. (But not quite.) Bryn Mawr College launched a replacement for campus email, Bananagrams. Biola University Math professor Matthew Weathers got into a tussle with his videotaped self. Sheridan College announced a new Bachelor of Modern Media Consumption degree. Lethbridge College unveiled the Canadian Centre for Excellence and Innovation in Northern Hemisphere Coffee Bean Cultivation. Simon Fraser University released the new Canadian taste sensation, Poutine Lattes. Animals: Kwantlen Polytechnic University announced a partnership between their Farrier program and campus security. SAIT Polytechnic became an official “Kitty Campus.” Duke University added a squirrel video to their homepage. The University of Nottingham built an urban gym for tubby squirrels. York University’s Glendon Campus announced a new Wildlife Communications program. Canadian Mennonite University launched a new major in Equestrian Studies. Acadia University announced that livestock would return to the campus farm. Iowa’s Luther College added sheep and goats to its grounds crew. University of Victoria announced mixed results for their interactive petting zoo in the campus library. Researchers at Queen’s University Belfast created dragon eggs. Oakland University brought grizzly bear cubs to campus. The Smithsonian National Air & Space Museum announced a one-day tribble breeding program. Campus Infrastructure: The University of Saskatchewan held a lottery for a luxury loft on campus. Durham College got an interdimensional portal. Langara College’s demolished its famous rock to make room for a park bench. West Virginia University replaced stone staircases with weatherproof escalators. The University of Wisconsin-Madison installed pneumatic tubes to bypass elevators. MacEwan University installed magical staircases. The University of Glasgow installed a “helter-skelter” inside its historic clock tower. Oakland University was repurposing miles of underground tunnels. Dalhousie University announced “Dal-Kea” furniture. The CERN LHC uncovered music inside the Higgs Boson. Library & Archives Canada acquired the journals of Wolverine. Oberlin College replaced student pics with preschoolers. The University of Rochester went full-on Harry Potter. Fanshawe College’s library was closing to become a movie theatre and Starbucks. Best of Show: The government demanded UK universities rent out underused space to AirBnB guests. The “Fortunate 500” ranked world universities at completely random. The University of Florida and Florida State University announced a merger, in the tiny town of Perry. Virginia Commonwealth University launched their “Tats, not SATs” program, requiring tattoos for admission and graduation. It appears some folks didn't realize our "April First" release was an April Fools Day Joke. So here is the unedited version to show you we simply couldn't take ourselves seriously. Cheers!
Springtime is nearly here, so to celebrate the beginning of April, Matt and Kris share their favorite beers of all time.
Welcome to another “Inside Music Row!” Today we’ll “Stay” and celebrate a number one hit for Florida Georgia Line. We’ll also hit up a CD release party for Suzy Bogguss. Finally…we’ll check out new music from hot new duo North Forty. All this and more coming up Inside Music Row. Hey there! I'm Kelly Sutton… we are so glad you’re here for another Inside Music Row. We've got lots in store for you today, so let’s get started with some entertainment headlines. More festivals are being created around the world each year, bringing major artists to towns that might not normally get top talent. The Inaugural Tree Town Music Festival is set for May 24th and 25th, just before Memorial Day. This festival will bring Brad Paisley, Toby Keith, and many more to Forest City, Iowa. For more information, check out Tree Town Festival dot com. Branding is extremely critical when trying to build a product, or even music. When the Marshall Tucker Band formed in 1971, they created a simple logo that has stood the test of time. Now they have been recognized by Grammy Magazine as one of the ten distinctive artist brands that ‘need no introduction.’ The Marshall Tucker Band logo is featured along other original artwork from A-C/D-C, The Beatles, Kiss, and many more. Josh Thompson is turning it up with the release of his sophomore album. It’s called “Turn It Up,” the project hits stores April First. This disc includes his current Top 30 single “Cold Beer With Your Name On It,” along with nine other tracks he co-wrote. The tenth annual “Stars For Second Harvest” benefit concert is set for June third at Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium. Hit writer Craig Wiseman will host the show, with plenty of other artists and writers to be announced soon. Last year’s concert and auction raised over 100-thousand dollars, but Craig’s goal for this special anniversary show is 250-thousand dollars for Nashville’s Second Harvest Food Bank. Now it's time to go Inside The Song. “Redneck Crazy” was a huge number one hit for Tyler Farr, but we wanted to see if this song was written about a real woman. Co-writer Josh Kear tells us how he got the inspiration from a song already on the radio.
It was April First in our heads at CC Gaming in Kennesaw, GA, so it was time to break out some special games. Superman 64 and ET 2600 started off the night, until Derrick Hopkins of Dead Pixel Live started chastising us for daring to call any game crap, as some of our live audience started pulling out GOOD 2600 games and calling them crap. Then we pull out some stinkers from the Xbox 360 - Bullet Witch and Eat Lead. This is a partial recording as the processor was still overheating at the time.

April 1, 2007 - photo by Thomas G. SmithTen years ago I attended the first of the nearly thirty shows I ended up seeing in 1997. It was in St. Louis at the American Theater (now named the Roberts Orpheum Theater).Lisa and I drove down with Maureen and Valerie Dahl, stayed with Lisa's parents in Bridgeton, MO and had a wonderful time at the show. I hooked up with Garrie Vereen after the show and he handed to me a garbage bag full of setlist notebooks. These notebooks are the ones he had been keeping since 1992, and I used them to check information against the Everyday Companion published in December of 1996.SO I thought I'd present some highlights from that show as well as some recent highlights from thew April 1st show in Albany, NY. Ned Stein did such a wonderful job writing about this show I thought I'd check it out and sure enough his words were true! I was going to also feature the Do What You Like from this show as it features a Take Five tease from Jimmy and JoJo but ran out of time... make sure to go to LiveWidespreadPanic.com and download the show to listen for yourself!Make sure to TURN IT UP LOUD!April 15, 1997St. Louis, MOIntro music - Train kept a rolling jamImpossible >C.
