Today we recap the Wisconsin State Show Ski Championships, highlighting the performances of various teams and individual skiers. We first recap many of the events, and then we interview show directors from the winning teams in all 3 divisions - Adam Koehler of D3 champion Plum Ski-ters, Shelly Pliml and Neil Berens of D2 champion Badgerland, and Jack Heilman, Abby Kothe, and Cody Jaworski of D1 champion Mad-City.  The Plum Ski-ters have been knocking on the door and finally won a State Championship.  Badgerland discussed their goal of getting back to prominence and moving up to D1, motivated to get back to their glory days when Paul Dross was at the helm. The conversation with the show directors of the Mad-City Ski Team focuses on their journey to winning the State Championship and their preparations for the upcoming Nationals. They emphasize the importance of teamwork, talent development, and meticulous planning in regards to production and flow. They also acknowledge the competition they will face at Nationals and the need to continue improving and executing at a high level. Episode 75!  Wow!  What a great trip it has been. I've been reflecting on a closeout episode for this season of Sensory Strides and I have been struggling with what that should be.  I have come to realize that Sensory Strides where it is now is not where it started. Growth in different ways than expected. I had been considering sunsetting this podcast.  I listened to episode 260 of the Bib Rave podcast and they announced that they are going to be ending their podcast after five years. BibRave This seemed to be a sign to confirm that my thoughts on sunsetting Sensory Strides and allowing myself to focus on some of my other projects. Especially those that are Girl Scout related like my Hearts of Gold podcast and the work I'm doing with Badgerland council to improve and encourage more girls to earn their Highest Awards is likely the better place for me. I'm recognizing that my mental health is just as important as my physical health, and I have been spreading myself thin. I need to focus on that which improves my mental health and that which gives me the strength and energy to be encouraged to pursue new interests.  Working with these amazing young women in Girl Scouts feeds my soul in that way. The new house is amazing and watching both the sunrises and sunsets each day have helped to allow me to relax in a different way than I have these last few years.  I look forward to the summer and sitting outside watching those amazing sunsets. Scott Stauske, Lakefront Marathon’s race director, joins us to talk about how his unconventional running journey of completing triathlons before marathons led him to join the Badgerland Striders, Wisconsin’s largest running club. After joining and then volunteering for various Badgerland races such as the Lakefront Discovery Run and the kids I Can 26.2 It program, he became race director of Lakefront Marathon. Scott shares entertaining stories like how he wore a bathrobe for his first marathon to how he is now looking to make the Lakefront Marathon a national race.
