Much of the fear generated by AI is about theft; the companies that own the technology will steal your image, replicate your voice and replace you with an AI version of you that takes your job.But perhaps it doesn't have to be that way.Since their collaboration on the documentary "Gerry Anderson: A Life Uncharted", Ben Field and Jamie Anderson have continued to work together under the banner of their production company, Deep Fusion Films. Their pioneering use of AI, coupled with their ethical approach to its use in film making means that they are now regularly consulted by industry partners and organisations looking to use AI responsibly. They talk to us about how their own approach has developed, how they envisage the future of AI in film and whether they have found an "ick" line in AI use that they're not prepared to cross...
How would it feel to see a digital deepfake of someone you love who has died? What would you need to consider before agreeing to create it?Jamie Anderson and Ben Field can answer both of these questions and more. "Gerry Anderson: A Life Uncharted" is their 2022 documentary about the life and work of Gerry Anderson, TV and film producer, director, write and technical pioneer - and Jamie's father.Together, Ben and Jamie crafted a fascinating and often moving documentary from hours of film footage, TV programmes, photos and interviews. They also created a deepfake version of Jamie's Dad to bring his own words back to life. They talk in detail about their pioneering work in merging AI technology with content that is profoundly human.
Thank you to the Listener who suggested this case! This case will infuriate you and make you question how well you really know the people in your life. Peter Farquhar was a gentle man who just wanted someone to spend his life with and he thought he found that in Ben Field. However, as the years went on, something sinister was brewing just beneath the surface. Have a Creepy Account or Paranormal Story you'd like to share?
Ray and myself break down the K-4 card and than Ben Field from All the Calls jumps in and finishes us off.
An author and English teacher, Peter Farquhar, was murdered by a much younger student, Ben Field. This happened in Maids Moreton in Buckinghamshire, the home of David Wilson. Peter Farquhar was a gay Christian who found it difficult to reconcile these two characteristics. This lead to his murder. The horrific event was the subject of a very well reviewed BBC drama series, The Sixth Commandment. The Wilson book was written after a Channel 4 documentary and a Radio Five Live programme but before the BBC One drama. It is a shocking story told in gripping detail in David Wilson's book 'A Plot to Kill'. The destruction that a psychopath can reak is appalling.
Intimate Partner violence in the LGBTQ+ community is understudied and under-reported with lesbian couples the least studied of all. These are starting to improve and resources are available. This episode features eight cases of intimate partner murder. Resources are available if you or anyone you know is in an intimate partner violent relationship. You deserve to live a life free of violence of any kind. 24, Alexander Duberek, and 30, Chad Luera were in a year-long, long-distance relationship. On Oct. 31, 2020, Duberek flew from San Diego where he lived to his boyfriend's home in Texas with a plan to end the long-distance love affair. 28, Fang Yao was addicted to gambling. She was in debt to friends and her ex-girlfriend 26, Wang Lei, but she wanted more. At 5:30 am on January 30, 2018, her habit would come at a terrible price in the city of Yangzhou. In 1996, wealthy Utah restauranteur John Williams met Craig Crawford in San Francisco on a blind date. Initially, they bonded over their similarities but drug addiction, mental illness, and domestic violence would take their toll. On November 24, 2021, officers responded to a report of a body on the northbound Beltway Parkway in Maryland. Officers found 26, Sharisse Denise Carr lying face down on the shoulder of the road. She was pronounced dead at the scene. Around 3:15 on the morning of Oct. 3rd, 2021, police responded to gunshots fired in Pittsburgh's Sheraden neighborhood. When they arrived they discovered the lifeless body of the mother of three 38, Kia Reynolds. On Sunday 22 May 2016, Lyndsey Vaux of Platt Bridge in England died from the 90 untreated injuries she received over the five years of being assaulted, abused, and starved by her girlfriend, 32 Becky Reid, and Reid's mother. When Peter Farquhar died in his home the cause was thought to be acute alcohol intoxication but his diary would lead law enforcement to the love of his life Ben Field. According to friends 48, Keith Harris and 26, Othman Al-Muttablaby lived happily together in San Francisco until Thursday, November 2, 2017, when Harris was found with multiple stab wounds he died in the hospital from his injuries. Al-Muttablaby was nowhere to be found. Like owls? We've got owls. Two of them. But they don't like each other. Ben Field explains how the Ninth Circuit adjudicated with this Parliament of owls, and how a 12 gauge shotgun is involved. In addition, Evan Lisull tells a story of "chalking," the police, and the First Amendment. Both from another Ninth Circuit case, but also from his own brush with the law. Evil comes in many shape and forms and can sneak in when we least expect it. In this episode, meet Ben Field, a young man who appeared to be everything his victims wanted while he plotted to take away everything they had.
The Supreme Court has said a “search” occurs when the police invade your “reasonable expectation of privacy.” So what is a “reasonable expectation” to be free from video surveillance in a world where everyone has a camera, everywhere? Rob Frommer tells us the Seventh Circuit says there basically is no such thing as long as what you're doing can be seen from a public place (or in this case, three cameras mounted on a utility pole for 18 months). But the court isn't happy with the result and utters a cry for help. Also, have you ever had to fill out forms that don't make any sense? Ben Field joins the podcast to tell the tale of what forms you need to lose your U.S. Citizenship, and how it's difficult to sign them from federal prison. Transcript forthcoming United States v.
