Movistar turning their race around after a difficult first week to capitalise on Pogačar's misfortune and roll out some real old-school Grand Tour tactics to take the red jersey all the way to the finish in Grenada was an epic spectacle, and Southam gives us all the inside gossip from the road.  Before we get into the World Champs preview, I wanted to give the Vuelta a proper send-off and discuss the five most interesting points of the race. When will Pogi go back and try to win? Where will Roglič go from here? What does such a strong grandy mean for Wout van Aert's world champs chances?  The 2026 elite men's world championships road race is just less than two weeks away. The Montreal circuit we saw raced on the weekend will be tackled 12 times, but who's going to come away with the rainbow jersey? Evenepoel, Del Toro, Seixas, Pidcock, Van Der Poel, Van Aert, and more - with Pogačar sidelined, this is going to be one of the most open worlds we've seen in years. In this month's Race Communiqué Luke Durbridge, Tom Southam, and I are picking apart the route, looking down the startlist, and previewing what promises to be an absolute scorcher of a race.  Of course, the headlines around this year's edition of La Vuelta are dominated by the presence of some Slovenian kid called Terry Pogačar…or something, and it's fair to say he's going to be the out-and-out favourite. But that doesn't mean we're in for a three-week snooze fest, oh no. Guys like Richard Carapaz, Felix Gall, Mads Pedersen, Wout van Aert, Matt Brennan, and heaps more absolute hitters are showing up to make this a Grand Tour that you do NOT want to miss. Kicking off in Monaco, the 2026 Vuelta Route takes the pelo down through Andorra and into Spain, with a huge emphasis on the southern part of the country. That means two things: ripping hot temperatures and disgustingly tough climbs. In fact, this year's route has almost 59,000 meters elevation total - almost 10,000 more than the Giro!  We go through the course stage by stage and pick out some of our favourites that you're gonna want to sit down and watch. As you know, I have a real soft spot for the Vuelta, and I think the organisers must have been listening to us yarn away on the pod about what stages we want to see in the grand tours, because there's some absolute bangers in there.  After the Vuelta preview, we turn to Luke for this month's PeloChat. Durbs has done some serious digging for this ep, and is looking into what it takes to scout out new and upcoming talent. With a bit of an explainer from our old mate Michael ‘Heppy' Hepburn, now working for Red Bull - BORA - Hansgrohe, this is a really great insight into how the biggest teams are finding the superstars of tomorrow.  Southam's talking tactics takes a look at La Vuelta and asks: does it really need to be three weeks long, or could it be shorter? What would a two week grandy look like? Would it be better racing? It's something that comes up for discussion every time the Vuelta rolls around, and Southam's got one hell of a take on it.  You know the drill by now; as always, we wrap things up with a Vuelta-themed CommuniQuiz. Pogačar might have wrapped up the overall victory early on, but some amazing battles for the green, white, and polka dot jerseys, some big shifts in the rest of the top 10 in the final week, and an unbelievable finish in Paris made this a truly memorable edition of the race.  Guys, Durbo's just finished his final Tour de France and is dialling in from a well-earned holiday to join me and Southam for this month's episode of The Race Communiqué where we're wrapping up the 2026 Tour de France.  Of course, we've been dropping weekly wrap-up podcasts on the rest days, so we start this episode by spinning through the last week of racing. Having Southam on board to give us some insight into Richard Carapaz's audacious moves on those brutal final three stages to take two stages and the polka dot jersey is another reminder of how lucky we are to have Tom and Luke take us inside the pelo each month.  A big topic of discussion over the last week of racing was the fans on Alpe d'Huez. Record-breaking numbers of spectators made the pilgrimage to the mountain, and it might have been a step too far. A brutal exit for Einer Rubio after a team car had to brake for a stumbling spectator really highlighted just how sketchy it can be up there, and hearing some of Durbo's war stories from the other end of the bunch is really eye-opening.  Of course, Durbs wrapped up his 12th and final lap of France, and he takes us through the emotions of reaching Paris for the final time.  Durbo's PeloChat takes us inside the seldom-discussed world of the grupetto. We spend a lot of the time focusing on the riders winning the bike races, but the guys at the back are probably suffering even more just to get to the finish within the time cut! Southam's call before the Tour de France about the Mega-Break was spot on, and we saw a few stages defined by absolutely massive moves with tens of riders in. In this month's Talking Tactics, Southam shares the secrets to getting into a breakaway, and just how bloody hard it can be!  Guys, there is a lot to go through in this episode. It's safe to say that with Jonas Vingegaard's unfortunate abandonment, the race for the podium has been blown wide open! I gave EF Education EasyPost DS, Tom Southam, a call to go over everything we've seen in the second week of the Tour and preview what's coming up.  Kicking off with a recap of everything that's gone down both in and around the race last week, and it started with a dominant victory from Pogačar in Le Lioran. Some amazing instincts from Søren Wærenskjold saw him win the bunch sprint on stage 11 to continue Uno-X Mobility's success, before Tim Merlier reminded everyone that he's the fastest sprinter in the race with his third stage win of the Tour the next day.  Stage 13 saw Mauro Schmid power his way into the mega break and grab a stage win for Jayco, so who better to chat to than his team mate, and regular “guest” on the Pod, Durbo. It was great to hear from Luke as he enjoys a well-earned rest day, and he gave us a great scoop on the team's tactics and how their game plan played out pretty much perfectly.  The two mountain stages on the weekend weren't the only drama - a 2 am dope test for Jonas and Pogi had the media buzzing, so I had to ask Southam what he knows and what he's heard from the ground. Is it a bit of a flex from WADA, or is there something going on?!  With Jonas' abandonment, and a mountain TT coming up, can Remco Evenepoel bag another stage win and close the gap to Pogi? Will Del Toro finish on the final podium? What about the green jersey battle between Pedersen and Philipsen? There's still so much to come, and I can't bloody wait to see how it plays out. In fact, it's been so hard that Durbo's decided to bank some extra hours in bed rather than join Tom and me for this special episode of The Race Communiqué! That's right, it's the first rest day of the Tour, and I wanted to take advantage of our man on the ground - EF Education EasyPost DS Tom Southam - to discuss what we've seen out in France so far.  There have been some epic days of racing! The TTT kicking things off in Barcelona was just as exciting and dramatic as we'd have hoped, the following stages through the Pyrenees into France in the sweltering heat, the first mountain stages and the expected Pogi domination, right through to yesterday's epic classics style stage - it's been a full-on start…and there's still nearly two weeks of racing to go! Watching from home, seeing the boys suffering in the heat, it definitely makes me glad I retired when I did. Of course, Southam - as tired as he is - hasn't actually been riding the race, so we did manage to get a quick voice note from Greenedge's own Luke Durbridge to hear straight from the horse's mouth how it's been in the Pelo. As Durbo puts it, it's been hell.  Only nine stages in, but still so much to talk about. Tom and I go through our top five moments of the race so far, as well as predictions for what's to come. Une invitation paradoxale, oscillant entre interdiction et permission, à laquelle Prune Nourry répond aujourd'hui par une proposition résolument généreuse : une exposition entièrement pensée pour être touchée.Avec Défense de rien toucher, l'artiste transforme le Palais idéal en un vaste terrain d'expérience sensorielle. Ici, le regard ne suffit plus ; il s'efface au profit du contact, du ressenti, de la mémoire des formes saisies par la paume. Accessible à toutes et tous, enfants, adultes, publics voyants ou déficients visuels, l'exposition s'affranchit des conventions muséales pour réactiver une relation directe et physique à l'oeuvre.Ce parti pris trouve une résonance profonde avec le geste fondateur de Ferdinand Cheval. Facteur rural devenu bâtisseur autodidacte, formé initialement comme boulanger, il a littéralement « pétri » son Palais. Partout, la trace de la main affleure : dans les reliefs, les aspérités, les accumulations patientes de matière. En invitant à toucher ses propres oeuvres, Prune Nourry rend hommage à cette dimension tactile et organique du Palais idéal.Révélée à la Fondation Bullukian à Lyon sous l'intitulé Empreintes, et avant de rejoindre le Musée Camille Claudel en 2027, cette nouvelle proposition de Prune Nourry trouve ici une étape singulière. Déployée dans ce lieu hors norme, elle en épouse l'esprit et en prolonge les intuitions : un dialogue entre cultures, entre temporalités, entre imaginaires.Le parcours s'ouvre sur un univers postal, clin d'oeil à Ferdinand Cheval. Un timbre en relief, conçu par Prune Nourry en partenariat avec La Poste en 2024 (le premier de ce type) inaugure l'exposition. Réalisé en collaboration avec des personnes aveugles et malvoyantes, il est né d'ateliers d'expérimentation tactile où formes, textures et volumes ont été ajustés pour être perçus par les doigts. Plus qu'un objet à voir, ce timbre se lit au toucher : il incarne une création pensée avec celles et ceux qui en font l'expérience sensible. Ce timbre devient également le vecteur d'une lettre adressée à Philomène, épouse du Facteur, figure discrète mais essentielle sans laquelle le Palais idéal n'aurait sans doute jamais vu le jour.À l'image du Palais, l'exposition se déploie comme un monde en miniature, un carrefour de récits et de cultures. Les Terracotta Daughters ou les Holy Daughters y côtoient d'autres figures féminines, dessinant une cartographie sensible du corps et de l'identité à travers le temps et les géographies. Sans constituer une rétrospective, Défense de rien toucher traverse ainsi plusieurs projets majeurs de l'artiste et offre un panorama de son regard sur la condition féminine.Cette oeuvre s'inscrit également dans une expérience intime. En 2016, à l'annonce de son cancer du sein, la sculpteure prend conscience de l'importance vitale, pour elle, du toucher, menacé par les effets secondaires de la chimiothérapie. De cette épreuve naît une recherche artistique profondément incarnée, explorant le corps, la réparation et le rituel. C'est Agnès Varda, amie intime de l'artiste, qui lui évoque la figure des Amazones, héroïnes de la mythologie grecque qui se coupaient le sein pour mieux tirer à l'arc. The big one starts on Saturday, so I sat down with Durbo and Southam for a special EMERGENCY PODCAST to preview the 2026 edition of the race. Who better to preview the biggest race of the season with than two guys who are going to be there; Southam in the team car as a sports director for EF Education Easypost, and Durbo riding his 12th and final Tour de France for Greenedge.    Kicking off this weekend with a team time trial in Barcelona, the race then heads up through the Catalan roads that Luke and I trained on together when I was across in Europe. This may be the Tour de France, but this is basically a home stage for Girona resident Durbs. From there, the Tour crosses the Pyrenees into France and - although there are a few big mountains in the first two weeks of the race - the route this year is very back heavy, climaxing with not just one, but TWO ascents of the infamous Alpe d'Huez. After 20 brutal days of racing, the pelo jet across to Paris for the awesome new final stage with the cobbled climb of Montmarte to draw the curtain down on another Tour de France.    Of course, as well as the big preview we have our regular segments. In PeloChat Durbo's asking the question; is it worth going to the traditional Tour de France warm up races any more? More and more riders are favouring training camps over racing to get a better quality build without the risk of crashing, picking up an injury, or just totally rooting yourself before the big show in July, but what's the best way to prepare for the Tour?   Over in Talking Tactics, Southam's diving into where that tipping point in GC is for riders just underneath the top tier favourites. Where do they have to be sitting in the top 10 or 20 before they decide to sit up, let the overall go, and head up the road in breakaways in search of a stage win. The likes of Pidcock, Ayuso, Lipowitz, and more who could stretch for a podium if everything goes there way, but could really turn the race on it's head if they decide to go for stages.   The Communiquiz is a super simple quickfire from quizmaster Durbo; which teams ride which bikes. I won't spoil the results for you on this one, but let's just say Southam spends a lot of his time in amongst the bunch looking at their bikes, and I…don't.   Who's riding? Who are the favourites? Mais pourquoi un tel empressement, et pour nous dire quoi ? Meta propose désormais un outil de création de pub en 100% générée par IAMeta a récemment annoncé que depuis 2022, chaque dollar investi par un annonceur sur la plateforme génère en moyenne 4,13 dollars de revenus, soit une hausse de 25 % depuis 2022.une hausse qu'elle attribue principalement aux améliorations apportées à la diffusion des publicités grâce à l'intelligence artificielle. Meta permet désormais de créer des ads 100% génère par IA. Tu télécharges jusqu'à 10 images et vidéos dans un seul ensemble de publicité. L'IA de Meta assemble et diffuse automatiquement différentes versions de la créa en fonction des formats les plus susceptibles de performer.Le récit officiel : Les pubs IA performent mieux, faites-nous confiance !Les plateformes construisent une narration très claire : si tu veux de la performance, il faut laisser l'IA prendre le volant.Meta explique que plus tu fournis d'assets différents dans une seule pub (jusqu'à 10 images/vidéos, formats variés), plus leur système IA a d'options pour optimiser la diffusion et améliorer les résultats.Avant Meta vendait un inventaire. Un espace d'affichage pour nos pubs.Aujourd'hui la promesse est différente : laissez faire notre IA elle rapportera plus que vos idées à vous.-Avec son IA, Tiktok génère vos pubs vidéos de façon automatiséeTikTok lance une nouvelle suite d'outils IA appelée « Symphony » pour aider les marques à concevoir des campagnes vidéo.L'IA analyse ce qui performe actuellement sur TikTok et propose des vidéos similaires. Depuis ces exemples, les marketers peuvent cliquer sur « Create your own » pour générer des ads proches des meilleures créas du moment.Dans son Communiqué de presse, Tiktok donne un exemple. Par exemple je vais pouvoir prompter l'outil IA de Tiktok et lui demander de me générer un pub vidéo pour un canapé pour chien vert. Le générateur va répmlqieur un format tendance sur la plateforme avec unboxing, chien mignon qui découvre le canapé façon UGC. Il va me générer- tout ça sans qu'à aucun moment je ne lui donne de photo ou de vidéo de mon produit.-Mêmes annonces du côté de SnapchatSnapchat annonce ajouter une série d'outils IA pour simplifier la création et l'optimisation des campagnes pubs, avec un assistant conversationnel.Ca c'est sympa. Mieux, Snapchat introduit des outils de création IA :Snap propose du smart upscale, de la génération vidéo à partir d'images, du changement de fond automatique pour adapter tes visuels aux formats verticaux.-Comment on t'amène à abandonner la créa “fait maison”Le truc captivant, c'est le glissement progressif :Petit à petit, la plateforme ne t'aide plus à faire de la pub, elle fait la pub à ta place.Et en plus, elle t'explique que c'est mieux comme ça.-Pourquoi elles ont intérêt à ce que tu crois à cette histoirePlus les pubs sont “faciles” à produire (grâce à l'IA), plus tu lances de campagnes, plus tu testes de variantes, plus tu dépenses.Les plateformes ont un intérêt direct à ce que tu crois que leur usine à pubs IA fait mieux que ton contenu artisanal, parce que ça justifie d'y mettre toujours plus de budget.…Retrouvez toutes les notes de l'épisode sur www.lesuperdaily.com ! Théorisée il y a un siècle, cette dernière décrit le comportement de la matière et de l'énergie à l'échelle des atomes et particules. Elle bouscule notre conception newtonienne des phénomènes et repose sur des probabilités plutôt que des certitudes. Ainsi, Laure Prouvost pose-t-elle la question : « Que pourrait-on ressentir en percevant la réalité d'un point de vue quantique ? »L'artiste a mené deux ans de recherches avec le philosophe Tobias Rees et le scientifique Hartmut Neven, pendant lesquels elle s'est intéressée à l'informatique quantique et à ses liens avec l'Univers. Ayant eu accès à un puissant ordinateur quantique, elle a créé des images et des sons qui reflètent le caractère sensible et imprévisible des systèmes.L'installation multimédia Nous, frissons d'étoiles, mêle la vidéo, la sculpture, les odeurs, le son et la lumière. Elle est née d'une métamorphose du projet « We Felt A Star Dying » présenté en 2025 au Kraftwerk à Berlin dans le cadre d'une commande de la LAS Art Foundation, en collaboration avec OGR à Turin. Elle apparaît comme l'image en positif de cette installation originelle, conçue pour l'architecture industrielle et obscure de l'enceinte berlinoise. Dès l'entrée de l'exposition au Grand Palais, le tunnel que les visiteurs doivent emprunter marque le passage de l'univers nocturne à l'univers diurne. Motif récurrent dans le travail de l'artiste, ce tunnel offre une voie initiatique vers l'oeuvre qui prépare à sa rencontre et à son éblouissement.Il s'ouvre sur un environnement fluide habité par The Beginning, une sculpture cinétique monumentale dotée de six membres. Animée par le son et la lumière, elle est tout à la fois omniprésente et évanescente, imposante et fragile, cosmique et terrestre. Alberto Giacometti (1901-1966) participe activement au mouvement surréaliste parisien, réalisant une série de sculptures énigmatiques : certaines aux accents agressifs, ou érotiques, d'autres aux formes biomorphiques tendant vers l'abstraction.Parallèlement, il reçoit ses premières commandes d'art décoratif et entame une collaboration étroite avec Jean-Michel Frank, grand décorateur parisien. Pour celui-ci, il conçoit une variété d'objets – appliques murales, bas-reliefs, chenets, lampes, vases et autres pièces – qu'il produit avec l'aide de son frère Diego. Bien qu'inscrites dans le domaine de la décoration d'intérieur, ces créations portent la marque de l'imaginaire surréaliste de Giacometti, perceptible tant dans leurs formes que dans leurs thématiques. Inversement, son travail décoratif nourrit parfois ses sculptures surréalistes, qui reprennent certaines formes issues de ses objets utilitaires.Il s'associe également au groupe surréaliste à un moment où la question de l'objet devient centrale au mouvement. Les surréalistes s'intéressent alors aux objets du quotidien, qu'ils détournent, associent ou transforment, rompant avec leur fonction pratique pour en faire des supports d'exploration de l'imaginaire et du désir. Contrairement aux autres membres du groupe, Giacometti ne recourt pas directement à des objets préexistants, mais compose ses sculptures à partir de formes qui évoquent des objets mais qui restent avant tout modelées.Giacometti participe néanmoins à cette recherche en réalisant des sculptures aux fonctions ambiguës, invitant parfois à la manipulation, évoquant des jeux, ou assemblant des éléments disparates pour engendrer des réalités nouvelles et troublantes. Désormais qualifiées d'« objets surréalistes », ses oeuvres ne visent pas à représenter le monde extérieur, mais deviennent leur propres réalités. Jonas Vingegaard's dominating the GC, the sprint stages have been hotly contested by Magnier, Groenewegen, and Milan, and UAE are mopping up stage wins left, right, and centre. With just a few days left of the first Grandy of 2026, it's time for this month's Race Communiqué!    That's right, guys, Tom Southam, Luke Durbridge, and I are sitting down for a good old yarn about what's been happening over in Italy for the last few weeks before it all reaches a crescendo this weekend.    Whilst it's pretty nailed on that Vingegaard will take home the pink jersey and, with it, a place in the Grand Tour triple crown hall of fame, there's still a hotly contested fight for the podium spots and - more importantly - the best placed Western Australian, with Hindley, O'Connor, and Storer all sitting pretty in the top 10!    I raced the Giro twice in my career, and I have some fond memories from the land of espresso, prosciutto, and pretty chaotic racing. This grand tour is always a fan favourite; less mainstream than the Tour, but not as low-key as the Vuelta. But, as always, Southam disagrees; is the Giro actually boring?! He makes his case, but also takes a look at the Unibet Rose Rocket's strategy in this month's talking tactics. They're all in on winning a sprint stage because, as our old DS Klier says; “You can't dance at two weddings at the same time.”   In this month's PeloChat, Durbo takes a look at the concussion protocol, and what needs to be changed to better serve riders. This is a real hot debate in the sport at the moment and - after seeing Adam Yates covered in blood and mud battling back into the bunch before a DNS the following stage with concussion - it's clear that it's coming to a head (...if you'll excuse the pun). Près de 200 pièces, robes et accessoires signés principalement par le couturier Pierre Balmain et la maison Lesage mais aussi de créateurs thaïlandais, mettent en lumière l'évolution du vêtement de cour thaïlandais et son inscription sur la scène internationale.Des objets, textiles et photographies issus des collections royales complètent cette présentation. À travers le prisme de la mode, l'exposition analyse le rôle du costume comme langage culturel et diplomatique. Spirales, cercles et faisceaux traduisent une recherche de l'harmonie cosmique et des forces invisibles qui régissent le monde, conférant à ses oeuvres une dimension universelle et intemporelle.Hilma af Klint choisit de ne pas dévoiler son œuvre abstraite à ses contemporains, intégrant dans son testament la volonté de garder ses oeuvres scellées vingt ans après sa mort. Ceci contribua à une reconnaissance tardive de son travail. Ce n'est qu'en 1986, lors de l'exposition The Spiritual in Art, Abstract Painting 1890-1985 à Los Angeles, que ses peintures abstraites furent présentées pour la première fois au grand public, marquant le début de sa renommée internationale.A ce jour, aucune grande exposition monographique de l'artiste n'a été montrée en France, alors que son oeuvre fait l'objet, depuis quelques années, d'une très forte réévaluation, notamment dans le cadre d'une relecture du rôle des femmes dans le champ de la modernité artistique. Hilma af Klint reste encore très peu aperçue dans les musées français, alors que le monde entier la considère désormais comme une artiste incontournable de la modernité artistique et des débuts historiques de l'abstraction.Au-delà de l'hommage rétrospectif, cette exposition met en valeur les multiples sources d'inspiration de son oeuvre (ésotérisme, folklore et art populaire, culture scientifique) et interroge la manière dont l'histoire de l'art a longtemps ignoré les artistes femmes et leur contribution aux mouvements fondateurs. Although the cobbles may be behind us, we still have the Ardennes to look forward to over the next week! Who better to wrap up the cobbles and preview the Ardennes with than my old mates Luke Durbridge and Tom Southam right here on this month's Race Communiqué.   We kick this month's episode off by rounding up the Spring so far; from Pogačar's dominance at Flanders right through to Van Aert's redemption at Paris Roubaix, there's been heaps of racing to get stuck into. One race I didn't manage to follow too closely was the Tour of the Basque Country, where young Paul Seixas absolutely dominated from start to finish. Fortunately, Southam was there on the ground in the EF team car, so he gives us the scoop from Spain, and just how good Seixas really is.    The Ardennes classics have already kicked off, with Remco Evenepoel dusting Skjelmose in the sprint to win the Amstel Gold Race. Southam was in the convoy dealing with a unique….pretty gross situation that he's never come across in his career. Safe to say Remco's shape is ominous ahead of Liège - the 4th monument of the year - which is only a few days away. With Pog, Remco, and Seixas all on the start list it looks like we're in for an epic showdown. We go through the course and pick our favourites.   Durbo's just got back after a few days off the bike following Paris Roubaix, and that's what this month's PeloChat is all about; keeping mentally fresh and taking time away from cycling. As you all know by now, Luke's just announced that he's hanging up the wheels after national champs in January 2027. He's riding out a long, distinguished career of 15 years - so this advice is worth listening to.   Talking Tactics is all about that head to head to head we're getting hyped about at Liège-Bastogne-Liège; how do Remco and Seixas overthrow Pogi who, on paper, is probably the favourite. Southam gives us his thoughts.    Finally - of course - it's the Communiquiz; this month I'm quiz master and we're talking monuments. Who's DNF'd more monuments; me, Durbo, or Southam? Une poétique de l'image » (umbrales, seuils en français), cet événement à caractère rétrospectif est placé sous le commissariat d'Alejandro León Cannock, en association avec la Galerie Younique.Du 23 avril au 25 juillet 2026, la Maison de l'Amérique latine montrera pour la première fois en France, non moins d'une centaine d'images mêlant photographies argentiques, tirages digitaux contrecollés sur aluminium, boîtes de lumièrerétroéclairées et quelques wallpapers.Javier Silva Meinel (né à Lima en 1949), est l'un des photographes péruviens les plus importants de sa génération, voire, de l'histoire de la photographie latino-américaine. Life in the Peloton is proudly brought to you by MAAP   Here we go, guys, we're just a few sleeps away from Opening Weekend! Just thinking about these races gets me absolutely pumped. I can smell the Belgian chaos already; the embrocation, the frites, the beers! What better way to prepare for the return of proper bike racing than sitting down with my old mates Tom Southam and Luke Durbridge for this month's episode of The Race Communiqué.   Before we jump into a quick preview of Omloop and Kuurne, we look back on the early season races that give us a good insight into who's going well, and who's got work to do. Of course Remco Evenepoel won't be racing this weekend, but we discussed what on earth happened to him in the UAE! He had such a strong start to the season, to see him burst like that on the steep desert climbs was pretty surprising!   Omloop kicks off the classics season this Saturday, and it is set to be an absolute pearler. The start list is absolutely stacked with talent, but there are two big names still waiting to start their road season; Pogi and Van Der Poel. Without these big five star favourites, the race is actually pretty open. I go through my picks in the preview, so have a listen and send me some praise when one of the twelve or so riders I mentioned probably does OK.    My favourite thing about Omloop is the finish; the Muur - Bosberg double that used to be the finale of the Tour of Flanders, but was dropped years ago in favour of the Kwaremont - Paterberg combo we see today. These climbs have everything; double digit gradients, brutal Belgian cobbles, and - most importantly - atmosphere. I can't wait to see throngs of Belgies at the roadside soaking it all in (along with Life In The Peloton's Race Radio p/b SHOKZ's own Harry & Stu recording their first episode of the season!)   In this month's Talking Tactics, Southam gives us the lowdown on his opening weekend; Faun-Ardèche Classic and Faun Drome Classic. These are new-school French one day races that are a notch below Omloop, but still absolutely stacked with big name riders looking to start their seasons; Jorgenson, Simmons, Skjelmose, Morgado, Bernal, Healy, and - the best rider in the world - Scaroni.   Durbo's Pelochat has some great insight this month. He's been keeping a close eye on some of the new tech nuggets from inside the Pelo, as well as how the new UCI rules on things like aero helmets are going down.    Guys, this month I wanted to introduce a fun new segment I've called “Yeah…Nah.”. You know when you hear something, and you think it sounds like a good idea at first…then you give it a bit of thought and - actually - na.  “Hey Mitch, you gonna go to Durbo's party on Saturday?”  “Yeah…….nah”   You get the idea. I give the boys a few ideas to get their take. Breakfast beers? Working the gate in the echelon? Sitting on in the Grupetto?    Of course, we wrap things up with the CommuniQuiz. It's Southam's turn to be quiz master this time, and he's written his quiz on his absolute favourite topic - something he's totally, unequivocally obsessed with; UAE Team Emirates. Communiqué started out as a newsletter, but now runs live events and publishes research about the scope of the creator economy across the continent. We last spoke with David four years ago on the podcast, and a lot has changed since he set up his newsletter as a side project. He talks to Peter about how he always wanted Communiqué to be more than a newsletter, his vision for a 'proper' media business, and how he is hiring to build a culture that can be replicated elsewhere. He also talks about community and the importance of bringing what he does online into physical spaces. The Vuelta is over and the world champs is well underway, which means we're nearly at the end of the 2025 racing season! It's really crept up on me, I can't believe it! On one hand, it feels like it's flown by, but on the other - the Spring Classics feel like forever ago.    This month's communique focuses on the World Champs over in Rwanda. It is an absolutely brutal course this year; almost 270kms with over 5000m of climbing. Whoever wins this is going to be a thoroughly deserving winner. Remco's already got himself a rainbow jersey in the TT; can he double up with another road race title?    What about Pog? He looked pretty knackered in the TT at the world champs, didn't he? Still cooked from the Tour or just reaching the end of his rope? I can't quite believe I'm saying this, but there's a big question mark over him ahead of the road race! But just watch him make me look like a cock knob and win by 9 minutes solo now.    There's some strong looking underdogs in the mix too; Del Toro, Healy, Carapaz, McNulty, Pidcock, and loads of other in form hitters that could spring a surprise and overcome the two main favourites. We discuss all the favourites as well as make our predictions.    In this month's PeloChat, Turbo Durbo gives us some insight into the end of a pros season - limping or striving through the last few races. Usually, a rider gets their provisional calendar at the start of the year, and it runs through to the Vuelta. After that, it's a case of “we'll see”. There's still races to go, but so many riders are sick, injured, or just cooked - so pulling together a decent squad to knock out the last few races of the year becomes a tricky task. Riders have to be adaptable throughout the whole season.    Southam's talking tactics dives into UAE's record breaking season - the most wins in 1 season by any team ever. How have they managed this? How does the team manage so many world class riders? How have they won so much but still lost the Giro on the last day, and seemingly piss the Vuelta away by hunting stages? Tom shares his take on UAE's questionable tactics at points throughout the year that still haven't stopped them winning almost everything.    The quiz this month is all about the world's TT. I'm quiz master, and the boys go head to head. Just because the Tour de France is over, doesn't mean the party's over! I'm back with Tom Southam and Luke Durbridge for this month's Race Communique. Tom and Luke have just got back from a puncture-filled Hamburg Classic, and the Vuelta a España is about to kick off! I love the Vuelta - it's the Grand Tour I raced the most in my career, and I've got to say it's my favourite. Southam and Durbo disagree, so we kick off by having a three-way head-to-head: Giro VS Tour VS Vuelta. Which is best, and why? I made my case for the Vuelta, the hardest Grand Tour by a long way…as far as I'm concerned. Luke reckons the Tour is the best because, well, because it's the Tour. The Giro's case was made by Southam, who just loves the drama - he's obviously never watched the Vuelta! In this month's PeloChat, Durbo goes through this year's transfers and gives us his take on who's going where, why they're moving, and what it might mean for the sport. Remco to Red Bull Bora Hansgrohe is the biggest move of the year, and the young Belgian superstar has definitely raised some eyebrows by moving. Will he clash with Roglič? Will they be able to support him to win the Tour de France? Only time will tell. Luke's teammates Dylan Groenewegen and Elmar Reinders are stepping down to TDT Unibet - a second division ProTeam! An interesting move in an effort to get the young Dutch squad to the Tour de France in the next few years. He's also got some insight into Tom Pidcock's Q36.5's squad and their signings; some big riders heading that way too. Lots of moves, but Durbo's across it. Southam's diving into the modern breakaway in this month's Talking Tactics. Things have changed a hell of a lot over the last few years in the breakaway; we don't see 20-minute time gaps any more, and the breaks are kept on a much tighter leash. As the level gets higher and higher, the quality of the lower division teams is getting better and better, and smaller riders are more of a threat in the breakaways these days. It's great, and I love the exciting racing where the breaks actually have a chance, but shit, it looks so hard. Of course, we wind up with the Communiquiz. Tom's quiz master this week, and it's about Summer Classics. You'll have to listen to the episode to hear how this goes, but let's just say…I had a bit of a shocker. We're coming to the end of June, and in the world of cycling, that can only mean one thing…it's almost time for the Tour! It's all been leading up to this - the biggest bike race of the year. I've got my old mates Tom Southam and Luke Durbridge back on The Race Communique to help me preview this massive race and, oh boy, it's set to be an absolute banger.  Durbo kicks off this month with PeloChat, where he takes us through his TrainingPeaks data from the Tour de Suisse so we can see just how hard the racing is these days. I've said it before, and I'll say it again - I am so glad I retired when I did; oh my god, the racing is just so brutal in 2025! Some of these numbers are crazy! And hey, Durbs, we all saw you splitting the bunch up with 70k to go on stage 1, so don't you start complaining about how tough it is out there these days… Before the Tour de Suisse, of course, we had the mini Tour de France - the Critérium du Dauphiné. This is where we saw ‘The Big Three' go toe to toe (to toe) with each other. Remco, Jonas, and - of course - Pogi. It was an amazing race, and Tadej came out looking absolutely dominant, but there was a pretty big question mark over his form after a quite frankly pathetic 4th place after the time trial. We know Jonas is still on the comeback trail from his crash back in Paris Nice, so with another few weeks of solid recovery, I think we're in for an absolutely massive battle this July. After we discussed the warm-up races, we got stuck into our massive Tour de France preview. We discuss everything - the stages, the riders, the moments that are going to define this year's race. An absolutely chaotic looking first 10 days around Northern France with tonnes of opportunity for an aggressive rider to take shed loads of time, an absolutely brutal end to the race in the mountains (stage 18 - holy sh*t!), a new finish circuit around Paris to make sure there's excitement all the way to the line, and heaps more! You're not going to want to miss a single second of this race. We all pick a rider or two to discuss, so make sure you tune in if you want to hear what Southam thinks of Carapaz and what really went down on that infamous Colle Delle Finestere stage at the Giro! Durbo lifts the lid on how Aussie favourite and recent guest on Life In The Peloton is going to take on the GC in a bid for a top 5 finish. Next, we get into talking some tactics with Tom. Ahead of the final week of racing, it's still all to play for. We've got the mega-talented young Isaac Del Toro holding onto the Maglia Rosa, bookies' favourite Primoz Roglič dropping out of contention, and a handful of riders poised to go all out to try and unseat UAE's dominance before the finish in Rome. Tom Southam's been called up to bat for EF Education Easypost, so he's cruising around Italy in the team car, and he's already netted a pair of stage wins with Richard Carapaz and Kasper Asgreen! With Southam away, we've had a bit of a roster change for this month's Race Communique; we're joined by my old mate and fellow ex-professional, Red Bull Bora Hansgrohe sports director, the Flying Mullet himself - that's right, it's Shane Archbold. Shane'o joins me and Luke Durbridge - fresh off the back of the Tour of Hungary - to dissect the racing so far at the Giro and speculate what we might see in this last week of racing.  The Giro is known for being a pretty chaotic race, and the 2025 edition is no different. So far, we've seen some amazing stages, and the GC storyline has been incredible, too. From guys like Luke Plapp - the Plappinator - finally getting his hands in the air in Europe, Wout van Aert completing a monster comeback on the Strade Bianche gravel stage in dominant fashion, and unsung hero Daan Hoole taking some massive scalps in the stage 10 time trial. UAE are gripping the pink jersey pretty tightly, but guys like Simon Yates, Richard Carapaz, and our old mate Derek Gee are creeping up behind him, not to mention his own teammate Juan Ayuso waiting in the wings. Sadly for Shane, his Red Bull Bora Hansgrohe team are having some pretty rotten luck. First, they lost Jai Hindley - a former Giro winner - in the first week to a crash on the wet, slippery roads of Naples. Then, Dani Martinez, last year's runner-up, slipped out of the GC and hasn't looked like his former self so far. Of course, they went into the race with the defending champion Primoz Roglič, whose GC bid looks to be over after a brutal day of racing over the Monte Grappa. It's not all doom and gloom for Bora, though; young Italian super domestique Giulio Pellizzari has shown a hell of a lot of promise so far, and no doubt has a bright career ahead of him. In this week's PeloChat, Durbo shines the spotlight on XDS Astana and their ongoing hunt for UCI points to avoid being relegated at the end of the season. A change in tactics from the Kazakh team means they're no longer racing for the win, which sounds absolutely crazy for a pro cycling team. Instead, they're trying to stack the top 10 with riders to scrape together as many UCI points as they can. They've managed to claw themselves back up the team rankings and away from the relegation zone, putting other teams at risk and giving us fans a whole other narrative to follow this season. Finally, we have a Giro-themed CommuniQuiz. I'm Quiz Master this week, and I'll be testing Shane and Durbo's knowledge on all things Giro d'Italia. Which former ‘Junior World Champion' used to sell cleaning products, didn't turn pro until 26, and then went and won the Giro?! From Omloop, through E3 and Wevelgem, Flanders, and then the big one - Paris Roubaix; these are the biggest and best races on the calendar for me, so I was super excited to sit down with Tom Southam and Luke Durbridge to break down this year's edition of Paris Roubaix in this month's Race Communique. This year's Roubaix was an absolute cracker; totally flat out from the gun. Even before Arenberg - where the race used to really kick off back in my day - the bunch was strung out and the real favourites were taking huge chunks out of each other. Tom, Luke, and I run through the riders that really made this race such an epic edition. Of course, it was dominated by Mathieu Van Der Poel on his way to his third victory in a row, but what about Pogačar?! His first go at Roubaix and he's up there rubbing shoulders with the big boys, and I literally mean the big boys; he's ten kilos lighter than most of these guys! Southam made a good point actually; is he going to be carrying some extra timber into the Ardennes that kick off next week? Of course, we also had the women's race the day before. That's something I love about Roubaix; the men's and women's races being on different days means we get a whole weekend of Paris-Roubaix action! What a cool race, with absolute legend Pauline Ferrand-Prévot putting her immense off-road skills to use to become the first French rider to list that big cobblestone since Frédéric Guesdon in 1997. I absolutely loved to see the GOAT herself; Marianne Vos, riding in support of her Visma LAB team mate; for me, that's what makes her a true champion. Obviously, there's been other races going on aside from the cobbled classics. We wanted to talk briefly about the Tour of the Basque country, and for good reason; after a few years in the wilderness, Caleb Ewan is winning at the highest level again. What a move that transfer to Ineos turned out to be! It's so cool to see Caleb getting his hands in the air again, and I think it represents a real shift in mentality at Ineos - who have been looking a bit lost for a few seasons now.  Southam was actually down in the Basque country in the car for EF Pro cycling - who knocked out a stage win with young Ben Healy - so he gives us a quick breakdown of the race in this week's Talking Tactics. Healy's win came after a ridiculous 57km solo move, so this month Tom's talking about the art of the solo breakaway. We see these long range attacks sticking more and more these days; with everyone aero optimised and more and more data and information being fed to riders. Southam compared his view from the car to being behind a rider in a TT, and being able to feed him really accurate cues about the course ahead played a huge part in Healy's win.  Poor old Durbo got a bit cut off in this month's Pelo Chat, so we rolled it in ahead of the Communi-Quiz! Durbo wanted to talk about race programmes, and how the teams decide who's racing where. Of course, the Spring Classics is a savage block of racing; and plenty of riders don't make it all the way to the end owing to sickness or injury, which creates plenty of headaches for team directors trying to pull together squads at short notice.  As always, we wrapped up with the Communi-Quiz. Hosted by Durbo, it's a Roubaix themed ‘Who Am I?'. Well, guys, it's that time again; The Race Communique is back and, of course, we kick this one off by unpacking an absolutely huge edition of Milan San Remo! Three absolute titans of the sport (me, Southam, and Durbo) come together to talk about the first monument of the season. We got to witness, as Pipo Ganna called them ‘Gods of cycling' go toe to toe on the slopes of the Cipressa and the Poggio and, boy, did it exceed expectations. The confidence and arrogance of Pog trying to go from the foot of the Cipressa, the absolute ice man that is Van Der Poel responding to his every move, and Ganna showing what an absolute animal he is to hang tough with the big boys on the climbs. We talk all about it and, I'll tell you what, I honestly think that's the best edition I've ever seen.  Durbo's Pelo Chat takes a look at the ‘Superteams' of the sport - the guys with cash to burn like UAE or Visma who can pick up the best riders; money no object. But are the superteams good or bad for the sport, and is riding for one of them actually all it's cracked up to be? In this month's Talking Tactics, Southam fills us in on the upcoming UCI meeting to discuss whether additional wild cards should be issued for the biggest races. Now that some of the biggest riders, the likes of Pidcock, Hirschi, and Alaphilippe, have stepped down to ProTeam level, race organisers are stuck between a rock and a hard place if they want to keep the classic second division teams happy whilst also getting the fan favourites at their races. Plus, the UCI undermining all the hard work the lower ranked World Tour teams over the last few years to avoid relegation - it's absolute chaos.  Of course, we wrap things up with the Communi-quiz. Southam's quiz master this month, and he's bought out the race commentary clips for Durbo and I to guess the rider and the race. Since we last recorded together on the eve of the Tour Down Under, we've had a whole heap of European racing in Spain, France, and Portugal, the UAE Tour, and more! Southam and Durbo join me once again to dissect the races, talk about the season ahead, and - of course - have a proper laugh in the Communi-quiz. A highlight of the last month for me has been seeing a really dominant start to the year from the young Brit, Tom Pidcock, at Alula Tour and Ruta Del Sol, which really vindicates his move to Q36.5 over the offie. But, if we're talking about dominance in races, we have to talk about UAE Team Emirates XRG. They have had a MONSTER start to the season, and not just from Pogi. Me and the boys talk about their insane roster that's going to have the rest of the bunch shaking in their boots all year long. Of course, the early season races are exciting, but they're only building tension for the real racing to kick off this weekend. That's right, guys, it's almost time for my favourite races: The Spring Classics. Opening weekend is right around the corner, and we discuss the upcoming classics season, as well as make a few cheeky predictions. Durbo's ‘Pelo Chat' dives right into the technical advancements in the bunch over the last few years. Skinsuits, tubeless tyres, aero positions on the road bikes, and absolutely MASSIVE chainrings. I thought I was pushing big gears with a 53 tooth chainring back in my pro days, but the 2025 Pelo has literally stepped up a gear. The bunch is getting faster and faster every year, so they need the gearing to keep up. One of Durbo's teammates is even trying out a 58 tooth chainring on their road bike! You'll have to listen to find out who.  Tom's ‘Talking Tactics' segment takes a look at the UAE Tour and some…questionable decisions from Lotto and Lennert Van Eetvelt. Riding the front to boost the TSS, doing intervals on the erg after a hard stage, seriously - what were these guys thinking? It was great to hear Tom and Luke, who were both out there, dissect their tactics in the Middle East and give the Lotto boys a fair ribbing.  Of course, it wouldn't be The Race Communiqué without the Communi-Quiz, and it's my turn to host. With the Welsh legend, Geraint Thomas, announcing his retirement at the end of 2025, I thought it would be a fitting send-off to have a G-themed quiz to test the boys' knowledge on one of the most versatile racers of his generation. We talk about how the style of the peloton has changed over the years, and how a good team kit can totally redefine a team's identity.  Tom's ‘Talking Tactics' segment dives into the new UCI rules that have changed the way riders will feed in the bunch this season.
