In this episode of the Tactical Living Podcast, hosts Coach Ashlie Walton and Sergeant Clint Walton talk about a physical consequence of the first responder career that does not get nearly enough attention: chronic inflammation (Amazon Affiliate) — what it is, what causes it, and what it is quietly doing to the long-term health of the people who serve. Most first responders are aware that the job is physically demanding. But fewer understand that chronic stress, sleep disruption, irregular schedules, poor nutrition, and repeated trauma exposure do not just affect mood and mental health — they trigger a systemic inflammatory response inside the body that over time contributes to serious and life-altering physical conditions. This episode connects the dots between the demands of the job and the health consequences that follow years later.

Nikki challenges that narrative and explains how learning the language of your body can help you uncover root causes, optimize health, and reclaim true health freedom. From blood sugar instability and chronic inflammation to gut health, nervous system regulation, hormones, and nutrient deficiencies, this episode connects the dots between common symptoms and the deeper physiological patterns driving them. Most of us have been trained to see the body in silos: diagnose the problem, treat the symptom, move on. The episode explains that inflammation is a necessary survival mechanism, with acute inflammation supporting healing, while chronic inflammation drives chronic disease. It outlines major contributors to chronic inflammation including visceral fat (with fasting insulin as a proxy for insulin resistance), poor sleep and sleep apnea, ultra-processed foods, sedentary behavior, overtraining, chronic psychological stress, poor oral health, gut dysbiosis/barrier issues, smoking, alcohol, pollution, autoimmune disease, and chronic infection. The host reviews biomarkers to discuss with a physician such as high-sensitivity CRP, ESR, ferritin, WBC and neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio, fasting insulin, ApoB, omega-3 index/omega-6:omega-3 ratio, and homocysteine. Chronic inflammation is linked to cardiovascular disease, depression/anhedonia, brain fog, autoimmune disease risk, cancer mechanisms, skin aging, erectile dysfunction, and chronic pain. Treatment focuses on lifestyle (notably treating sleep apnea, sleep optimization, fat loss, exercise, oral health, omega-3 intake, sauna, stress regulation, circadian rhythm), selected supplements (vitamin D if deficient, curcumin, boswellia, ginger, garlic, olive oil polyphenols, sulforaphane, magnesium/glycine, taurine, NAC, quercetin, probiotics, creatine), and brief discussion of drugs including GLP-1 agonists, colchicine, NSAIDs, corticosteroids, and biologics. In this episode, I sit down with one of my oldest and dearest friends, Sheeva Stephens, functional medicine and brain health specialist, for a deeply personal and empowering conversation about what it really takes to heal your body from the inside out. Sheeva shares her raw and vulnerable journey of being put on Adderall at 12 years old, navigating years of debilitating side effects, and ultimately moving across the country to wean herself off three medications—a process that became the catalyst for the life-changing work she now does with women all over the world. We dig into why so many high-achieving women are walking around chronically inflamed, dismissed by doctors, and stuck in bodies that no longer feel like home. Sheeva breaks down the four pillars of her healing methodology, the most common symptoms women in their 40s are facing today (bloating, brain fog, anxiety, sleep disturbances, hair loss), and why hormones often aren't the real problem. We also get into peptides, GLP-1s, supplements, electrolytes, and the foundational habits every woman should be doing right now to reduce inflammation and reclaim her energy. If you've been feeling "off" and can't figure out why—or you've been told by doctors that this is just how it is—this episode is your sign to listen to your body and start asking better questions. Most people have been told to brush, floss, and show up for cleanings. What most people have never been told is that the bacteria living in your mouth can travel directly into your bloodstream and contribute to heart attack, stroke, Alzheimer's disease, and cancer. That missing information is medical gaslighting in one of its most systemic forms. In this episode of the Medical Disruptor Podcast, I sit down with Dr. Ellie Campbell, a family medicine physician with thirty years of clinical experience and advanced training in oral systemic health. Together, we trace back a structural gap in medicine that has been in place since 1840, the year dentistry was formally separated from the rest of the body. Two separate schools, two separate licensing boards, two separate clinical vocabularies. The result is a system where your cardiologist and your periodontist may never speak to each other, and where the source of your chronic inflammation can go completely undetected. This is one of the clearest examples of medical gaslighting that does not announce itself. Nobody tells you your symptoms are in your head. The information is simply never connected, bleeding gums get minimized, root canals are cleared without a conversation about downstream effects. The bacteria move and the inflammation builds. And the standard workup catches none of it. When the system was never designed to look for something, it will never find it. And when it never finds it, it stops asking. The gap is real, and it is medical gaslighting. Want more practical health tips? Show Notes Inflammation is one of the body's most important defense mechanisms—but when it doesn't shut off, it can quietly contribute to serious health problems. In this episode of Health Matters, host Courtney Allison speaks with Dr. Charis Meng, a rheumatologist at NewYork‑Presbyterian and Weill Cornell Medicine, about how inflammation works and why chronic inflammation can put the body at risk. Dr. Meng explains the difference between short‑term, helpful inflammation and long‑term inflammation that lingers for months or years, affecting everything from joints to the heart, brain, and immune system. The conversation explores autoimmune conditions like rheumatoid arthritis, what causes inflammation, and how lifestyle factors such as diet, sleep, stress, and physical activity can impact inflammation. Dr. Meng also discusses treatment options ranging from targeted immune therapies to lifestyle changes, acupuncture, and emerging research on GLP‑1 medications. This episode offers clear, science‑based guidance to help listeners understand inflammation—and what they can do to help keep it in check. Chapters 00:00 – What Is Inflammation, and When Is It Helpful? How inflammation works as the body's natural defense system 03:45 – Acute vs. Chronic Inflammation Why inflammation sometimes doesn't shut off—and how it can cause harm 07:30 – Inflammation and Disease Risk Autoimmune conditions, heart disease, diabetes, and cancer 09:45 – How to Reduce Chronic Inflammation Medical treatments, diet, exercise, sleep, and emerging research Key Topics Covered Inflammation and the immune system Acute vs. chronic inflammation Autoimmune diseases and rheumatoid arthritis Heart disease, diabetes, and cancer risk Anti‑inflammatory lifestyle habits Mediterranean diet and inflammation Exercise, sleep, and immune balance Acupuncture and integrative care GLP‑1 medications and inflammation research Takeaway Message Inflammation is the body's natural healing response, but when it becomes chronic and doesn't turn off, it can contribute to serious conditions like heart disease, diabetes, and cancer. While some chronic inflammation is driven by autoimmune disease or factors beyond our control, healthy habits like diet, exercise, and sleep can still help support the body and reduce long-term health risks. Doctor Bio Dr. Charis Meng is an assistant attending rheumatologist at NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center and an assistant professor of clinical medicine at Weill Cornell Medicine, who is also certified in acupuncture. Her practice is in general rheumatology, and her special interests are in treating older patients with chronic pain, low back pain and inflammatory arthritis.
In this episode, Dr. Tony Ebel breaks down the critical but widely overlooked role the vagus nerve plays in autoimmune conditions, chronic inflammation, and immune system dysregulation. Dr. Ebel opens with a first-hand update from his trip to Washington, D.C. and the MAHA (Make America Healthy Again) movement — sharing why chiropractic has always been at the forefront of this fight and what the nervous system conversation is still missing from the national health discussion. He then dives deep into the neuroscience of why the body can't shut off inflammation without a functioning vagus nerve, why medications and supplements alone will never be enough, and what parents need to know about the Perfect Storm that begins as early as birth. Dr. Ebel also covers practical nutrition steps, the cholinergic anti-inflammatory pathway, how chiropractic adjustments directly impact inflammatory markers, and how to test vagus nerve function through heart rate variability (HRV).-----Links & Resources: Read more about the vagus nerve & autoimmune conditions in this article:https://pxdocs.com/vagus-nerve/vagus-nerve-and-autoimmune-connection/Read more about Dr. Tony's experience at the MEVI meetings here:https://pxdocs.com/nervous-system/maha-mevi-meeting/-----Key Topics & Timestamps02:00 Dr. Ebel's Trip to Washington, D.C. & the MAHA Movement 07:00 How the Medical-Pharmaceutical System Took Over & What Needs to Change 10:00 The MEVI Meeting: Vaccines, Adverse Reactions & the Sickest Generation of Kids 15:00 The Missing Piece in the Autoimmune Conversation: Nervous System Dysregulation 18:00 The Perfect Storm: Where Autoimmune Conditions Actually Begin 19:00 Why Conventional & Functional Medicine Both Fall Short 23:00 The Vagus Nerve: The Immune System's Built-In Off Switch 29:00 The Pattern We See in Practice: From Sick Baby to Autoimmune Diagnosis 39:00 The Cholinergic Anti-Inflammatory Pathway & How Chiropractic Fits In 47:00 Nutrition & Toxic Load: What to Add and Remove 57:00 How to Test Vagus Nerve Function: HRV & Finding a PX Doc-- Follow us on Socials: Instagram: @pxdocsFacebook: Dr. Tony Ebel & The PX Docs NetworkYoutube: The PX DocsFor more information, visit PXDocs.com to read informative articles about the power of Neurologically-Focused Chiropractic Care.Find a PX Doc Office near me: PX DOCS DirectoryTo watch Dr. Tony's 30 min Perfect Storm Webinar: Click Here
Chronic inflammation may be silently contributing to some of the most serious diseases of our time — heart disease, diabetes, cancer, Alzheimer's, and more. But what exactly is inflammation, and why does your body do it in the first place? In this episode, Dr. Vickie goes back to mini medical school to explain how inflammation works on a cellular level — from the immune cells that sound the alarm to the chemical mediators that drive the healing response. You'll learn why short-term inflammation is a good thing, and why chronic, low-grade inflammation is more like a smoldering grudge that can damage your health for years before you ever feel it. You'll also discover: The lab markers that signal chronic inflammation (and which ones to ask your doctor about) How all six pillars of lifestyle medicine — especially sleep — play a role in keeping inflammation in check Why sugar is one of the most inflammatory substances in the standard American diet, and the science behind why How visceral fat, processed meats, refined carbs, and unhealthy fats fan the flames Simple, doable steps to start calming inflammation today — including one food addition that can make a real difference If you've ever felt the effects of chronic inflammation — fatigue, brain fog, stiffness, or just plain feeling blah — this episode will help you understand what's happening in your body and give you a clear starting point for change. The Better Life with Dr. Pinkston welcomes the world-renowned Dr. Andrew Heyman for a deep dive into the "mystery illnesses" that are often ignored by conventional medicine. Dr. Heyman, a leader in the field of integrative medicine and clinical research, shares his personal 10-year battle with Lyme disease and how it led him to uncover the devastating reality of Chronic Inflammatory Response Syndrome (CIRS)—commonly known as mold illness. In this episode, Dr. Heyman explains how environmental toxins and biological stressors can flip a "genetic switch" in your mitochondria, shifting your body from a healthy energy plant into a defensive "battleship mode." If you are struggling with unexplained fatigue, brain fog, or weight gain, this conversation provides a roadmap for recovery. Dr. Heyman also introduces Beyond Mold, a groundbreaking platform designed to provide affordable, expert-led guidance for testing your home and healing your body. Key Highlights from This Episode: The 10-Year Diagnosis: Dr. Heyman shares his personal journey from being an Ironman-in-training to suffering from Bell's palsy and debilitating fatigue before finally discovering he had Lyme disease. The Mitochondrial "Battleship": Learn how trauma, stress, and toxins affect the mitochondria, causing chronic inflammation that traditional blood tests often miss. The "Big Three" Indicators: Dr. Pinkston and Dr. Heyman discuss the most reliable ways to identify mold illness: Typical Symptoms: Fatigue, brain fog, and unexplained weight gain. Home Environment: History of water damage, musty odors, or feeling better when away from home. Visual Contrast Sensitivity (VCS) Test: A simple 10-minute online test that is 90% predictive of a "brain on fire." Brain Health & Trauma: Understanding the similarities between mold-related brain injury and Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI). What if your fatigue, burnout, and chronic inflammation aren't problems to fix, but signals asking you to change the way you live? In this episode of the Thrive State Podcast, I sit down with double board-certified physician Dr. Ann Maria Hester to explore a powerful shift in how we understand health, disease, and healing. After years in traditional internal medicine, Dr. Hester recognized a deeper truth: many of the conditions we struggle with today are not inevitable. They are the result of how we live, think, and relate to the world around us. My conversation with her goes beyond surface-level wellness advice. It dives into the science and psychology of lifestyle medicine, and the often-overlooked role of identity, belief, and consciousness in shaping our biology. If you've ever felt stuck despite knowing what to do for your health, this episode will challenge how you think about change, and show you why knowledge alone isn't enough. In this episode, we explore: • Why burnout, brain fog, and chronic inflammation are signals, not failures • The six pillars of lifestyle medicine and how they drive long-term health • How chronic stress rewires the brain and impacts your body • The connection between identity, belief systems, and behavior change • Why information alone doesn't create transformation • How meaning, faith, and connection can become powerful forms of medicine • The truth about healing as an active, daily practice, not a passive process This episode is a reminder that healing isn't about fixing what's broken. It's about realigning with who you are, and consciously choosing how you live. If you're ready to take ownership of your health and step into a more intentional, energized way of living, this conversation will give you a new framework to start. His background includes formal training at the University of Maryland and advanced study in masticatory diagnosis and treatment, along with ongoing work in dental ozone therapy and nutrition education. This conversation reframes the mouth as part of a larger system rather than an isolated part of the body. Dental issues begin to look different when you consider nutrition, microbial balance, and the role of hidden infections that may not present with pain.We question why certain materials and procedures remain common even when concerns are widely acknowledged. That tension points toward a deeper conversation about what it means to restore form, function, and long-term health. Those questions matter if you've started to question conventional approaches to health and want to better understand how oral health connects to the rest of the body. You'll learn:[00:00] Introduction[06:15] How Dr. Marc went from a conventional dentist to a biological dentist[13:29] What Weston A. Natalie Lefevre walked into Dr. Whitfield's Austin office as a fellow biohacker and walked out understanding something most people never get: there's no place like this anywhere in the world. She came in with a story of her own, a near-fatal hospitalization in Germany, a rare genetic variant triggered by environmental toxins, years of elevated labs that her doctors dismissed, and a relentless commitment to finding answers when conventional medicine gave her none. Dr. Whitfield and Natalie go deep on what actually drives chronic inflammation, including the mold, glyphosate, heavy metals, and genetic variants quietly running the show in the background. Send a textIf you've ever felt like every system in your body has a problem — your digestion is off, your skin is reactive, your mood is unpredictable, you're exhausted but wired, and nothing you try seems to hold — this episode is for you. Most people are chasing ten different symptoms. What they actually have is one problem. A boundary problem. And that boundary is the gut barrier. This episode is the next installment in my Terrain Map series — a Rosetta Stone style body of work I've been building to help you understand what's actually happening ecologically inside your body. Each episode builds on the last. This one goes deeper into the living ecosystem that determines what your immune system reacts to, what your nervous system has to manage, and why when that boundary breaks down, the body stops feeling like a safe place to live in.I cover:What the gut barrier actually is — not just a lining, but a living ecosystem of mucus layers, epithelial cells, tight junction proteins, and microbial communities that together determine what stays out and what gets inWhat breaks it down — and why the answer is almost always a combination of things that match the life that's been livedWhat a compromised barrier actually feels like beyond digestive symptoms — including the signs most people never connect to their gutThe mineral catch-22 — why you need specific minerals to rebuild the barrier but a compromised barrier means you can't absorb them properly, and why this loop keeps people supplementing forever without resultsWhat restoration actually requires — sequenced, terrain-first, in the right order at the right paceI also reference two previous episodes that go deeper into the generational piece — how what your mother carried in her microbiome shaped your starting point before you had any say in it:How Maternal Microbiomes Shape Immune Health: lydiajoy.mykajabi.com/blog/how-maternal-microbiomes-charge-immune-healthHealing Burnout: How Mothers and Environment Shape Our Health: lydiajoy.mykajabi.com/blog/Healing-Burnout-How-Mothers-and-Environment-Shape-Our-HealthIf you've been in this space for a while doing the right things and still not getting to the bottom of it — this is the conversation you've been missing.Support the show Support the podcast Mineral Foundations Course HERE Minerals & Microbes package HERE Rewilded Wellness program HERE Join my newsletter HERE If you are interested in becoming a client and have questions, reach out by emailing me: lydiajoyme@gmail.com Find me on Instagram : @ Lydiajoy.me
In this episode, I talk about three simple ways to control chronic inflammation—and how to keep score on your progress instead of chasing expensive supplements. The topic was inspired by a friend who texted me a photo of a pricey bottle of antioxidants and asked if it would help with inflammation, which prompted some classic Brad-splaining. I explain why the biggest drivers of chronic inflammation are everyday lifestyle habits—especially diet—and why heavily processed foods, refined industrial seed oils, refined grains, sugars, and alcohol disrupt metabolic health and promote visceral belly fat, the dangerous fat around your organs that actively releases inflammatory agents into the bloodstream. The goal is shifting toward a protein-centric, nutrient-dense whole foods diet. I also cover the other major pillars: movement and sleep. Sitting too much can promote inflammatory processes, while chronic overtraining can keep the body stuck in a sympathetic stress response—so the goal is regular daily movement paired with a sensible fitness program. Finally, I explain why sleep, rest, recovery, and true downtime are essential for repair and brain health, including the role of the glymphatic system. Before spending money on exotic supplements, focus on the basics: clean up your diet, move more throughout the day, and prioritize sleep. TIMESTAMPS: The inflammation in your body is believed to be the root cause of virtually all disease. [01:00] Chronic inflammtion is mostly caused by a poor diet. [03:00] Watch out for the oils you are served when dining out. In your kitchen toss out the soy bean oil, corn oil, safflower, sunflower, cottonseed oil, and canola oil. [06:16] Oil that is naturally yielded such as first cold pressed virgin olive oil as well as coconut oil are better. [08:35] Be careful when you look for avocado oil because some have been altered and mixed with cheaper oils. [09:27] If you're snacking and consuming a lot of these foods throughout the day, throughout your life, you're going to have chronic overproduction of insulin. [11:25] We have to put alcohol and most energy bars on this list of causes of systemic inflammation. [13:00] Steak and eggs are good breakfast choices. [14:59] Having an accumulation of visceral fat is a huge red flag. [16:33] Exercise and movement influence inflammation. In order for our organs and systems to work appropriately, we need to be in near constant movement throughout the day. [22:00] Learn what works for you. Sitting to much promotes chronic inflammation and over exercising promotes chronic inflammation. [28:46] Sleep is more important than most people think. Join her free health & longevity newsletter here: https://www.drvondawright.com/resources/aging-longevity You only build bone during deep sleep, and only if you get enough of a growth hormone spike to make it happen. As someone who has spent her career fighting osteoporosis, I had never connected those dots that clearly before. Morning light, deep sleep, and bone density are part of the same biological chain. That alone is worth the listen. This week, I am joined by Dr. John La Puma, the originator of culinary medicine. After reviewing over 2,200 studies for his new book, Indoor Epidemic, his conclusion is both sobering and actionable: we are spending 93% of our lives indoors, and our biology is paying for it in ways most of us cannot even perceive. Fatigue. Brain fog. Disrupted sleep. Accelerated aging. And we keep reaching for supplements and prescriptions when the answer is often just outside the door. What we cover: - Why 93% of our time indoors is a biological emergency quietly aging us faster from the inside out. - How 10 to 15 minutes of morning light resets your circadian clock and primes your body for deep, restorative sleep. - Why screen light within 30 minutes of bedtime drops melatonin by 20%, no matter what else you did right. - How deep sleep triggers the growth hormone spike your body needs to build bone, making it a frontline tool against osteoporosis. - Why green exercise feels 20% easier and drops cortisol by 21% when done in a place of your choice. - What digital obesity really means and why too many pixels burn out your brain the same way too much sugar burns out your metabolism. - How one hour of gardening a week can lower hemoglobin A1C by 0.5%, roughly equal to a starting dose of metformin. - What the Louisville Green Heart Study found, including a 22% drop in CRP, when greenery came to a community. - Why two to five intentional hours outdoors each week can give you up to five years of health span back. About Dr. John La Puma: Dr. John La Puma is an academic clinician, trained chef, and organic farmer recognized as the originator of culinary medicine. Send a textYou're doing a lot of the right things. You eat clean, you take your supplements, you've done the protocols. And yet something still feels off — tighter, more reactive, narrower than it used to be. You used to be able to handle so much more. This isn't a mindset problem. It's an ecological one.In this episode I'm continuing my Terrain Map series — a Rosetta Stone style body of work designed to help you understand what's actually happening inside your body at an ecological level. I talk about ecological compression — what happens when your inner ecosystem loses the diversity, the keystone species, and the structural integrity it needs to self-regulate. Not through one dramatic event, but gradually, across years and even generations. And why so many high-functioning people are living inside a narrowed, compressed terrain while still appearing totally fine on standard labs.In this episode I cover:— What ecological compression actually is and how modern life created it — The gut ecology triangle: low microbial diversity, endotoxin load, and mucosal barrier strain — and how they reinforce each other — Why your fascia won't release no matter how much bodywork you get — What chronic survival adaptation actually looks like in a body that's still functioning — Why repair is an ecological act, not a protocol — What it actually takes to rebuild terrain that's been compressed for yearsThis is for the person who has tried everything, seen the practitioners, run the labs, and still can't figure out why they feel more fragile than they should. 347: Ever feel like your stomach is reacting before your brain even catches up? In this episode, I sit down with Dr. Will Cole to talk about what is really going on with the gut brain connection and why your stress, shame, and even childhood trauma might be showing up as bloating, anxiety, brain fog, or inflammation. We get into his newest book, Gut Feelings, and unpack everything from the vagus nerve to “shame inflammation,” plus how chronic stress can spike inflammatory markers like interleukin 6. If you have ever wondered why you can eat the same meal on vacation and feel fine, then eat it at home and feel wrecked, this one is for you. We are connecting the dots between your gut, your nervous system, your past, and your plate. And trust me, it is all connected. Topics Discussed: → How does stress affect gut health? → Can shame increase inflammation levels? → What is the gut brain connection? → Does alcohol damage the gut microbiome? → How does childhood trauma impact autoimmune disease? In this episode, Dr. Tony Ebel takes a deep dive into mast cell activation syndrome (MCAS), chronic neuroinflammation, and why so many women and moms are struggling with these conditions. He breaks down why conventional and functional medicine approaches often fall short, reveals the hidden nervous system root cause that nearly everyone is missing, and walks through a three-stage progression — accumulation, dysregulation, and full mast cell activation — that explains how the storm builds over time. Most importantly, Dr. Tony lays out a clear, sequential path to healing that starts with the nervous system and the vagus nerve first, before layering in detoxification and other interventions.----Links & Resources:Sign up for the FREE LIVE March 5th Kick the Sick Webinar: www.thepxdocs.com/kick-the-sickTrusted Clinic for Lyme's healing: https://erlandsonclinic.com/Episode 178: Healing from Food Allergies & Sensitivities [Apple/Spotify]Article: Simple Ways to Support Your Child's Nervous System at HomePWC Intensive Program: https://premierwellnesschiro.com/the-perfect-storm/-----Key Topics & Timestamps03:30 The Exhausting Reality of Living with MCAS08:30 How Functional Medicine Fits In & Why the Nervous System Is the Missing Link11:30 The Hidden Physical Trigger: Neck Tension, the Vagus Nerve & Structural Dysfunction28:00 Dr. Tony's Personal Story with Secondary Lyme's & Neuro-Immune Dysfunction31:30 The Three-Stage Progression: Accumulation, Dysregulation & Full Mast Cell Activation36:30 Why the Right Interventions in the Wrong Order Make Things Worse46:30 The Path Forward: Case History, Insight Scans & Finding the Root Cause55:00 When to Introduce Detox & How to Do It Safely57:00 Closing Encouragement & How to Connect with Dr. Tony-- Follow us on Socials: Instagram: @pxdocs Facebook: Dr. Tony Ebel & The PX Docs Network Youtube: The PX Docs For more information, visit PXDocs.com to read informative articles about the power of Neurologically-Focused Chiropractic Care. Send a textIn this episode, I'm talking about boundaries in the body — not just emotional or relational boundaries, but biological ones.If you've been feeling porous, reactive, sensitive to everything around you, unable to regulate, or like you're absorbing more than you can hold… this may not be a personality flaw. It may be your terrain. We're in a season of repair, and I want to help you understand what's actually happening underneath the surface.I walk you through:• The gut lining as your first biological boundary• How intestinal permeability (leaky gut) creates chronic immune activation• Why histamine overload makes you feel allergic to life• How mineral depletion affects nervous system containment• The role of microbial diversity in strengthening or degrading your inner ecosystem• Why motility and drainage matter just as much as “sealing the gut”If your tight junctions are compromised, your immune system never fully stands down. If your microbiome is dysbiotic, inflammatory metabolites affect your mood, cognition, and stress response. If your minerals are depleted, your nervous system loses clarity and your cells lose their ability to hold a charge. This isn't woo. It's biology. And it's deeply connected to how you experience boundaries in your daily life.If you haven't already, I recommend listening to my earlier episode where I break down the mechanisms of leaky gut and metabolic endotoxemia in detail:

Inflammation is a double-edged sword. When you have a sudden injury or infection, your body responds by calling immune cells to the site of the problem. It may become red, swollen and painful, but all that is supposed to be part of the healing process. What happens with chronic inflammation is more insidious. Many serious […]
