In Leviticus chapters 8-10 we are told of the consecration of the priests – Aaron and his sons. Chapter 8 describes the activities of the first seven days. Verses 1-13 tell of Aaron and his sons being robed and anointed. Verses 14-17 speaks of Moses offering the sin offering on their behalf. Verses 18-21 tells of Moses offering the burnt offering for the priests. Verses 22-30 their peace offering is presented by Moses. Verses 31-36 tells us that the service of consecration was to last seven days – speaking of the covenant for which Aaron and his sons would be the ministers.Psalm 107 commences Book 5 of the Psalms – the Deuteronomy psalms, which go through to Psalm 148. Just as the 5th book of Moses crystallised the principles of the Law. So these Psalms are a distilling of the principles of the Almighty. It is then fitting that this section summarises what the LORD seeks from His children. The 107th Psalm could be encapsulated in the words from the ESV, and verse 2, “Let the redeemed of the LORD say, So”. What is it that they say? From verse 1, “Oh give thanks to Yahweh, for He is good, for His stedfast love endures for ever!” This psalm is about the awesome deeds of our Father, the Almighty Creator and His incomparable Son. Our Lord Jesus revealed the Father's character to mankind. Jesus said that whatsoever the Son sees the Father do, that the Son does also. The Psalm is divided into distinct stanzas which are recognised by the call of the refrain ending each stanza, “Then they cried to the LORD in their trouble, and He delivered them from their distress … Let them thank the LORD for His stedfast love, for His wondrous works to the children of man!” ESV. This refrain varies slightly, but is repeated in verses 6-8, 13-15, 19-21, 28-31 and 43. Each stanza refers to a generalised circumstance of life for the people of God; who having undergone the experience call upon their Almighty Delivery who responds out of His love for His children. And their response is to praise Him for His constant, dependable love and care. The reader can see in many of the related stories specific events that have overtaken the children of God. For example the stanza which begins with the words, verse 23, “They that go down to the sea in ships has an unmistakable echo to the Apostles on the Sea of Galilee when our Lord Jesus Christ calmed the Sea and they exclaimed, “Who is this? ..” For it revealed to them that Jesus was Yahweh's incomparable Son. The Psalm finishes in verse 43, “Whoever is wise, let him attend to these things; let them consider the stedfast love of the LORD (ESV).” Let us pause and ponder.1 Corinthians 16 tells us to be prepared for contributing money when we come to the Lord's Supper. The background to the starting of the collections among the Gentiles was to support their Jewish brethren who were suffering hardship due to their persecution for becoming believers in Christ Jesus and to alleviate the troubles brought by the great famine. The first day of the week was traditionally the day when the believers met to remember our Lord Jesus Christ in bread and wine. By the Jewish calendar it was after 6pm Saturday evening. Those believers who were blessed to have some money gave some of it at that time. It was done discretely that is why Paul requested preparation before they arrived at the gathering. In his final instructions the Apostle sends greetings and commends the house of Stephanos for their addiction to service of fellow believers. The letter ends with both a warning and an implied appeal, verses 22-24, “If anyone has no love for the Lord, let him be accursed. Our Lord come! The grace of the Lord Jesus be with you. My love be with you all in Christ Jesus. Amen.” (ESV) Contemplate our privileges in Christ – the blessings that we receive – and how we can love our Lord and live to please him now that we might graciously find a place in his kingdom.

I read aloud Chapters 6 & 7 of the Acts of the Apostles to my new community in the Pacific Northwest's seat of the archbishop, in honor of the annual feast of St. Stephen landing on a Sunday, which it only does once every seven years. His name stephanos means crown in Biblical Greek. I came across this studying 1 Peter 5:4 (which speaks of the doxa stephanos; glorious crown that the archshepherd Jesus Christ will grant to those religious leaders that please him) in the MOUNCE Reverse Interlinear New Testament. This is how someone like me who cannot read the Greek alphabet can still capture the beauty of the original. To him be the doxa (glory) unto eons of eons. ★ Support this podcast on Patreon ★

I love what I do, and it's a privilege and an honor to do it. I feel such a duty to report on things that happen in my community, in my backyard, in your backyard. -Maria Stephanos Maria Stephanos is a household name in Boston and beyond. This interview was taped in between newscasts at WCVB, Channel 5, www.wcvb.com where she anchors the 4:30, 6:00, 7:00, and 11:00 PM newscasts. And for good measure, Maria also anchors the 10:00 PM news on sister station MeTVBoston. A devoted mother, this high-energy, high-empathy woman has been honing her craft for 30 years and says that going to bed at midnight is simply routine. Born and raised in the little town of Groveland, MA, Maria recalls an idyllic childhood where she would climb trees and skate in the woods in a town with no traffic light. Her heritage is Greek (think My Big Fat Greek Wedding), and laughter, passion, loyalty, and hard work were hard-wired into the family dynamic. A graduate of Emerson College with bachelor's and master's degrees in Mass Communications, Maria got her start on the radio as a statehouse reporter and credits that experience with teaching her how to tell compelling stories. In this interview, she reveals that a scratch ticket and a conversation with a colleague propelled her toward television, and she's been there ever since. On the air for massive news events like 9/11 and the Boston Marathon bombings, Maria takes us behind the scenes, painting a picture of what it is really like to be a responsible, compassionate journalist in the middle of a tragedy. When asked about role models, she quickly names her mother, offering one of her parent's golden rules: “Don't judge people. You never know what they are going through.” In this interview, we come to know WCVB's Maria Stephanos not only as a beloved news anchor but also as a daughter, sister, wife, mother, friend, mentor, and running enthusiast. Walking with the Saints l Feast of St. Stephen, Patron Saint of all Deacons l December 26 If we do not know the story of St. Stephen and we see his statue for the first time, we might be surprised to see why he is carrying stones, or in other representations, he has a stone on each shoulder and one on the head. St. Stephen was born in 5 B.C. and died in 34 A.D. Since his name “Stephanos” is Greek, it is assumed that he was a Hellenistic (Greek) Jew, who converted to Christianity. According to the Acts of Apostles, he was one of the seven deacons appointed by the Apostles to distribute food and aid to poorer members of the Christian community. They were chosen due to the dissatisfaction of the Greek speaking Jews, saying that the Hebraics were given preference in the distribution of food and aid. Stephen was the eldest and was called “archdeacon.” Being full of faith and the Holy Spirit he performed miracles among the people and he went around preaching in various synagogues about Jesus Christ. His sermons enraged the Jewish Cyrenian, Alexandrian and Cilician groups who challenged his teachings, but he defeated them in debate. They were humiliated and accused Stephen of preaching blasphemy against Moses and God. His accusers dragged him to the Sanhedrin but Stephen looked unperturbed, and his face shone “like that of an angel.” Before the Sanhedrin, the legal judges of the Jews, Stephen presented his view of the history of Israel and the stories of the patriarchs and mentioned Israel's disobedience to God. He disproved their disbelief in Jesus Christ and assured them that Jesus came to fulfill the customs of Moses and not to destroy them. Stephen also accused the Jews for being stiff-necked and murderers of the prophets. With this the crowed became more enraged, and began to stone him. But Stephen looked up and cried: “Look, I see heaven open and the son of Man standing on the right hand of God.” More people picked up stones to kill him. They laid their coats at the feet of a young man named Saul of Tarsus, the Roman citizen, who later converted to Christianity and became St. Paul, the Apostle. Stephen prayed that the Lord would receive his spirit and forgive his killers. He then fell to his knees and died. After his death, his companions fled to Antioch and to other distant places. Speaking about St. Stephen, Acts 8: 2 says: “Godly men buried Stephen and mourned deeply for him.” The location for his stoning must have been either on the northern gate or the eastern gate of Jerusalem. Where he was buried was not recorded. In 415 a priest named Lucian proclaimed that he dreamt where the remains of St. Stephen were buried in Beit Jimal, Jerusalem. Later, and they were brought to the Church of Hagia Sion on December 26, which became his feast day. In 439, the relics were translated to a church north of the Damascus Gate. The relics were finally transferred to Rome by Pope Pelagius II during the construction of the Basilica of San Lorenzo fuori le mure. There, he was interred with the remains of St. Lawrence. Many churches around the world have been built in honor of St. Stephen. In the Roman Catholic Church, December 26 is “St. Stephen's Day.” Virtues: piety, humility, innocence, honesty, bravery, fortitude and integrity Prayer: “St. Stephen, pray for those whose faith in God and the Trinity are being attacked by doubts and perverse teachings.” Reflection: Am I ready to face persecution because of my Christian faith?
An Interpretation of the Divine Liturgy Based on Actual Events and Experiences of Holy Priests, Monks and Lay People (Piraeus, Greece, 2008) "It is a fact that numerous interpretations of the Divine Liturgy which were mainly based on the enlightenment and Grace of the Holy Spirit, were handed on to us by the Church Fathers. What makes this current analysis of my spiritual child Fr Stephanos Anagnostopoulos, of the Divine Liturgy noteworthy as well as beneficial, is the fact that it is offered through the experiences and revelations of worthy Liturgists of the Most High, older and more recent ones.I, as well as its author, wish that this book will lead us all to the genuine liturgical conscience and life in order to urge us in a spirited way, as grateful servants to try to rest the heart of His feelings so that He will be comforted, according to the Psalter: ‘. . . and because of His servants shall He be comforted' (Ps. 134:14). May we sense that which God offered us and thus rejoice in the beauty of His eros. Amen. (p. 11)" - Saint Ephraim of Philotheou & Arizona --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/athonite-audio/support

Revelation 4:1 says, “After these things, I looked and behold the door standing open in heaven.” Very interesting that “standing open” is in the perfect tense, an indication that that door was opened at some point in the past and it's still open. I would take the point of opening as the crucifixion and the resurrection of Christ, and the now opened the door, is for us to enter into the presence of God. When Jesus said, “it is finished” in John 19:30, His work on the cross was done. The penalty for sin was paid. The way into heaven was open. It won't be closed until time is done. So, the door was opened, and John says, “the first voice that I heard was like a trumpet speaking with me.” The trumpet takes us back to chapter one saying, “Come up here.” Remember the passage in First Thessalonians Chapter 4, “for the Lord will descend with a shout.” What do you think your shout is going to be? I think it's going to be, “Come up here.” “Come up here and I will show you things which much must take place.” Again, we have the phrase “after this” or better translated, “After these things.” Revelation 4:2-3 says, “Immediately,” John says, “I was in the spirit. And behold, a throne said in heaven. And one who sat on the throne and he who sat there was like a Jasper and sardius.” Jasper is clear and sardius is red. So what John sees is an image sitting on the throne, but he doesn't see the clear outlines face characteristics. In Revelation 4:3 he says, “and there was a rainbow around the throne in appearance like an emerald. What is the rainbow remind us of? Remember at the flood it was a promise of peace. So, I would take this as a symbol of peace. A rainbow around the throne and “an appearance like an emerald” is very interesting. From verse three on, what we're actually seeing is something very similar to what Daniel saw in Daniel 7:4-13. You remember he saw “the Ancient of Day” sitting on the throne, being approached by “one like the son of man.” So very, very similar. And again, the connections between Revelation and the Old Testament are everywhere. Revelation 4:4 says, “Around the throne, where 24 thrones and on the thrones, I saw 24 elders sitting clothed with white robes, and they had crowns of gold on their heads.” There are lots of arguments about who are the 24 elders. A lot of people think they're angels. I'm convinced they're not because of what we see in the context of the text. I think the 24 elders probably represent the church and probably we could look at them as maybe some of the great ones that come out of the church age, maybe the ones who excelled during the church age, but they represent the church as a whole. 24 elders sitting and they've got “white robes,” of course, white robes, picture of the righteousness of Christ. They had” crowns of gold on their head.” We know in the New Testament there are five different crowns promised to the overcomer, namely, those who overcome are promised a reward at the judgment seat of Christ. As our lives are evaluated by the Lord Jesus Christ, there are those that are going to receive the reward of a crown. By the way, the word “crown” “Stephanos” – “the Victor's crown.” So, this again relates back to the overcomer. Revelation 4:5 says, “From the throne proceeded lightning and thunder, rings and voices.” Wouldn't you like to know what they said? In Revelation 10:3-4 John says the thunder spoke again and as he was going to write down as a part of this book what the thunder said, he was told not to write. Isn't it interesting? I don't know about you, but I've heard sermons on what the seven thunders said. The truth is, we don't know. God didn't tell us. We might be better off for not knowing. We were not allowed to know at this point. Verse 5 continues, “Seven lamps of fire were burning before the throne, which are the seven spirits of God.” Why the seven spirits of God? Isaiah 11:1 says, “There shall come forth a rod from the stem of Jesse and a branch shall grow out of his roots.” It is interesting that the Lord Jesus Christ is referred to both as “the root” and the offspring of David. As God, He is “the root of David,” as man, He's the offspring. So we have the deity and humanity of Christ pictured. Isaiah 11:2 says, “The Spirit of the Lord shall rest upon Him, the spirit of wisdom, and understanding, the spirit of counsel, and might the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the Lord.” I think all of these are simply expressing the character of the Holy Spirit. So I take this to be the seven spirits of God. Revelation 4:6 says, “Before the Throne, there was a sea of glass like crystal.” What does that mean? I don't know. Obviously, it would imply purity. Later in the book, the sea is used as a picture of the nations. The multitudes of the nations could represent the multitudes of those who have been purified standing before the Lord. That would be the closest that I could give you. The verse continues, “sea of glass, like crystal in the midst of the throne and around the throne were four living creatures full of eyes in front and in back.” Very interesting. Revelation 4:7 says, “The first living creature was like a lion. The second living creature was like a calf. The third living creature had the face of a man, and the fourth living creature was like a flying eagle.” If you go back to Ezekiel chapter one these same creatures are not described in the same way, but they are described as a lion, a calf, a man and an eagle. Why is that? Well, one suggestion that's been presented, these four represent the story of the life of Christ. If you think about it, a gospel of Matthew presents Christ our King of Israel, symbol as lion Jesus -- the lion of the tribe of Judah. The Gospel of Mark presents Him as the calf, or Ox, a symbol of what is servant. It's interesting that the key word of the Gospel of Mark is immediately. It's a word that was specifically used of an obedient servant. It's translated “straightaway,” or “immediately” in the Gospel of Mark. Luke, of course, places emphasis on the humanity of Christ. Luke is a very human gospel, and it deals a lot with his interactions with the down and out people. And then, of course, the eagle Flying Eagle, a picture of the Gospel of John, The Deity of Christ. Revelation 4:7 says, “The four living creatures, each having six wings were full of eyes around and within.” The emphasis on eyes, I believe, has to do with divine intelligence or supernatural intelligence. What do our eyes through our eyes tell us? That's how we gather information. Revelation 4:8 says, “They do not rest day or night saying, Holy, holy, holy.” Where have we met these before? Is it Isaiah 6:3, “Holy, holy, holy.” Why three times? It's this Father, Son, Holy Spirit. “Holy, holy, Holy Lord, God Almighty, who was and is and is to come.” Who's that? Jesus Christ. Revelation 4:9-10 says, “Whenever the living creatures gave glory and honor, and thanks to Him who sits on the throne, who lives forever and ever, the 24 elders fall down before him, who sits on the throne and worship him, who lives forever and ever and casts their crowns before the throne.” I've run into a lot of believers who say I'm not interested in eternal rewards. I don't care whether I get a crown or not. I'll just be happy to be there. We need to understand that winning the Crown is not for us. It's not to our credit. It's for His glory. Every one of us can win eternal rewards. He offers us the opportunity to live lives of faith and obedience so that we are, as he said in Matthew 6:20, laying up treasure in heaven. And what's the value of all that? All of it is going to speak to the glory of Christ. It's in honor of what He's done for us. It's a way of expressing, if you will, our gratitude for his sacrifice and our great salvation. So, they cast their crowns before the throne. Revelation 4:11 says, “You are worthy, oh Lord, to receive glory and honor and power for you created all things and by your will they exist and were created.” Now, bear in mind Who's sitting on the throne of God. The Father. Right? We're about to see the Lord Jesus come into the picture. So, God, the Father is sitting on the throne. And to God the Father, Glory, “honor and power for You created all things.” This is Genesis 1:1, “In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.” Right? What does John tell us in John 1:1? “In the beginning was the word. And the word was with God. And the word was God.” And then down in verse three, “all things were made by Him. And without Him was not anything made. It was made. So, who created” the Father or the Son? The answer is “yes!” They work together, right? In Proverbs 30, the question is asked “What is God's name? Do you know it? And what is his Son's name?” That's a very interesting question. You must wonder how many ancient Hebrews pondered on that and wondered, “What does this mean”? And of course, if they pondered long enough and searched the Old Testament scriptures enough, they would know.

St. Stephen l Patron Saint of Deacons, Headaches, Horses, Coffin Makers and Masons Feast Day – December 26 If we do not know the story of St. Stephen and we see his statue for the first time, we might be surprised to see why he is carrying stones, or in other representations, he has a stone on each shoulder and one on the head. Let us discover it in this video. · Voice: Speaking about St. Stephen's Day.” piety, humility, innocence, honesty, bravery, fortitude and integrity · Prayer: “St. Stephen, pray for those whose faith in God and the Trinity are being attacked by doubts and perverse teachings.” · Reflection: Am I ready to face persecution because of my Christian faith?

If you are a true, born again believer in Jesus Christ, a reward and/or crown awaits you in Heaven! First and foremost, understand that these rewards are not anything the you can purchase by doing good works. No! We are redeemed and are purified by what Jesus did on the cross — HIS work. When we believe in Him and HIM only, we accept the fact that He did all the work for us. We are purified by HIS blood. There is nothing we can do on our own — by ourselves or through a church — to gain us entrance into Heaven. Therefore, once we are saved, we are to do good. Based on what we do with the Spiritual Gifts that He gives us when we receive the Holy Spirit, we will get a reward and/or a crown. Let's see what the Bible has to say about these heavenly prizes. The word “Crown” in Greek is “Stephanos”, where we get the name Stephen. Who, by the way, was the first Christian Martyr. It means “a badge of royalty, a prize in the public games, or a symbol of honor.” In the ancient Greek culture, it was the crown given to winners of races and competitions. It was a laurel wreath made of leaves that eventually wither away. We'll see that the crowns we get in Heaven will never wither away. Let's dig in… Keep reading in my blog where there are links to dig deeper with other Bible studies and videos… https://seekthegospeltruth.com/2022/07/09/crowns-and-rewards-for-every-true-believer-in-heaven-which-do-you-want/ If you want to reap all the benefits of salvation including the 1-way, non-stop ticket to Heaven then… Believe. Repent. Be Baptized. Receive the Holy Spirit. Pray this prayer humbly and wholeheartedly… “Dear Lord Jesus, I know I am a sinner. I believe You died for my sins and rose from the dead. Please forgive me. Right now, I turn from my sins and open the door of my heart and my life to you. I confess You as my personal Lord and Savior. I surrender my whole life to you and I will follow you for the rest of my life. Thank You, Jesus, for saving me. Sunday, 27 March 2022 And the saying pleased the whole multitude. And they chose Stephen, a man full of faith and the Holy Spirit, and Philip, Prochorus, Nicanor, Timon, Parmenas, and Nicolas, a proselyte from Antioch, Acts 6:5 The apostles' instructed that seven men should be selected to attend to the daily distribution while they would continue with the duties of their ministry. With that noted, Luke next records, “And the saying pleased the whole multitude.” This doesn't mean that the apostles required their approval, but that the decision of the apostles was a good, just, and fair one that was agreeable to all who heard it. With this happily rendered decision, it next says, “And they chose Stephen.” Stephen is the first to be noted of the seven chosen. The reason for noting him first will become evident as the narrative continues. His name (Stephanos in the Greek) means “Crown.” The word stephanos is used in the New Testament when referring to the crown of thorns on Jesus' head as well as the various crowns Paul, Peter, and James refer to in their writings. Revelation also uses the word eight times. Of this person, he is next described as “a man full of faith and the Holy Spirit.” This statement will be more fully realized later in this chapter and throughout Acts 7. He had a deep-seated faith in the truth of God in Christ as it is realized in the Person of Jesus. He understood Scripture well enough to be able to clearly see that everything written there was leading to Jesus, and that Jesus was the fulfillment of it all. Further, later in this chapter, and as he will speak before the people, the filling of the Holy Spirit for performing signs and wonders, as well as faithfully speaking about the scriptural writings, will become evident. Next, it says, “and Philip.” His name means “Horse Loving.” He will be noted again in Acts 21 as the evangelist with four daughters who prophesied. Also, as the name was a common one, he may or may not be the same person who preached in Samaria in Acts 8 and then later in the same chapter who met with the Ethiopian eunuch. Next, it notes the following men: Prochorus, Nicanor, Timon, Parmenas. They are known by their names only and nothing further is noted of them. The name Prochorus literally means “Before the Dancing,” or “Before the Chorus,” but the intent may be “Choir Director.” Nicanor literally means “Man of Victory,” but it may indicate something like “Victorious,” or “Conqueror.” Timon means “Valuable,” or “Honoring.” Parmenas means “Near-Stayer.” One might paraphrase it as the “Guy Close By.” Finally, the list ends, saying, “and Nicolas, a proselyte from Antioch.” The name means “Victor Over the People.” A proselyte is a non-Jew that has been circumcised and has adopted the religious practices of the Jews. All of the names are Greek. Although this does not mean they are all Hellenistic Jews, it could mean that. Many Hebrews Jews had both a Hebrew name and another name, usually a Greek one. Whether they are all Hellenists or not, the Greek names show an affinity for the Hellenists. As such, they would be well-suited to be a part of the daily distribution where the Hellenistic widows had been previously overlooked. The selection shows wisdom because of this. Life application: The selection of these men to serve is specifically given to reveal that the problem had been handled, that the decision was appealing to everyone, and that their particular selection was agreeable because they identified with those who had been previously neglected. However, the first requirement was already stated in the previous verses. They were first and foremost to be of good reputation and full of the Holy Spirit. It is a lesson that has been almost wholly ignored in our modern world. People of ability have traditionally been chosen because of their abilities first and foremost. It is true that many people of ability have been overlooked because of their race, culture, gender, and so on. But in today's woke world, those characteristics are being placed above ability. As such, businesses, companies, schools, the military, and governments at all levels are being filled with people who are wholly unqualified for their duties. People are promoted because of skin color, even if they don't have the reasoning of a rabbit. They are promoted because of their gender, even though they could not find their way out of a public bathroom. And they are selected for high-level positions because they have moral leanings comparable to Nero. When the biblical model is ignored, a society cannot endure. The world is heading down the exact same path that it followed before the flood of Noah. Wickedness is pervading every aspect of society, and the strong and determined hand of judgment will come upon the world because of it. As Christians, we are not to accept nor tolerate these things. We are to keep ourselves from being molded into society's corrupting image. Instead, we are to work as best we can to have society return from the path it has chosen to one of reason and right morals. Stand firm on what the Bible reveals. Hold fast to its instruction and be pleasing to the Lord who has so directed it to be. Lord God, Your word is not something we can compromise on. We must hold to its moral precepts and stand fast on what You have revealed. Help us in this. The world is devolving into wickedness and immorality, and it is so easy to be swept along with that tide. May we stand fast on the Rock of our salvation and proclaim the better way! Yes, help us in this Lord God. Amen.

Stephanos is a consultant to high-level leaders with a background in the corporate world. He is one of the pioneer members of Transition Excellence—my community of high-level leaders transitioning into high-level coaching and consulting. As I draw out his story, I discover that he's been a risk-taker his whole career. He thinks he wants to be comfortable. He doesn't. He needs to keep creating a life of courage. One of my favorite moments is when he describes the fun he has making something up—like a new proposal for a corporation—and then watching as people sign up. He has tapped into my secret business plan... "Make sh*t up!" Learn more about Transition Excellence here - https://transitionexcellence.com/?utm_source=rich_litvin&utm_medium=list Love. Rich PS.
