Today, you get the trifecta! Doula, birth photographer and breastfeeding advocate Leilani Rogers shares about her breastfeeding awareness passion project, which was an outgrowth of her work as a birth photographer. Those two passions then led her to obtain her doula certification. Her knowledge and experience in all three is certainly a gift! In this episode, we chat about: How did you find your calling in birth photography? Your birth photography accolades are many! You even hosted the public breastfeeding awareness project for five years. What was the purpose of that project and why were you inspired to create it? How did birth photography lead you to pursue certification as a doula? What does a doula do, particularly in the case of a high-risk pregnancy? What is a "doulatog" as you share on your website? Women and their partners might be apprehensive about hiring a birth photographer, a doula or both, what would you say to alleviate some of those fears? When you're considering hiring a photographer or a doula, what are some questions you should ask to ensure it's a good fit? Do all doctors/hospitals allow for a photographer or a doula? What questions should a new mom ask? How can a NICU mom benefit from services like birth photography or a doula? What's your best advice to a parent who wants to hire a photographer or a doula? Leilani Rogers became interested in birth as a young mom with preterm labor with all four of her children. She became more empowered and informed with each pregnancy, and when she documented her first birth in 2011 her life as an artist intersected with her love for and knowledge of birth perfectly. She is also a trained doula and a mentor to budding young photographers worldwide. Hey there! I'm on vacation this week and spending some time with my family so enjoy this rebroadcast episode of the podcast with birth photographer Tavia Redburn. I used to think that birth photography was a bit of a luxury, but the more I learned about it the more I started to think that all parents should consider whether they'd like to have a photographer present for their birth. To talk about all things birth photography, we're joined by the wonderful Tavia Redburn. Tavia is a birth & newborn photographer in Oklahoma, and she also trains other new birth photographers. Tavia and I talk about her journey to birth photography, how her own births affect her approach to her work, and what you should ask a photographer before you hire them. She also talks about why new parents should consider hiring a photographer for their first birth, rather than wishing they had later. We also digress a bit and talk about some of the things Tavia has seen during the many labors and births she has been present at. She shares her own story and why it's so important to advocate for yourself at every point in your pregnancy and birth journey. In this Episode, You'll Learn About: How and why Tavia became a birth & newborn photographer Why it's important to be clear about your expectations and wishes before your birth What the hiring process for a birth photographer is like Questions to ask a birth photographer before you hire them Some of the things Tavia has witnessed in her role as a fly on the wall during many labors and births Why you should consider hiring a birth photographer for your first birth Full website notes: drnicolerankins.com/episode59 Check out The Birth Preparation Course Register for the class How to Create a Birth Plan the Right Way Take a quick, fun labor pain quiz

Imagine a career that's all about telling a story. Documenting the anticipation of those hours before your baby is born... documenting the exact moment when you look at your baby for the first time, smell their cry for the first time, hear their cry for the first time. If you didn't know a career like this existed, it does! Birth photography is a beautiful phenomenon that's catching on in India. Hear Urshita Saini talk about how she's bringing such a new career in the spotlight!
Welcome back to the New Mom Boss Podcast! This episode is all about something I wish I had known about during my births - birth photography. My guest, Tavia Redburn, is a birth photographer and business owner who teaches other birth photographers how to specialize and get certified so they can go full time. We talk about how she got her start with birth photography, get a behind-the-scenes look at how a session works, and discuss all of the important things to keep in mind when trying to preserve memories on that special day. Some big takeaways are: Birth photography is a great way to keepsake those moments you can't get back. Don't make your partner take photos for you. Let them enjoy the moment with you instead! Knowing your options and making an informed decision is one of the best gifts. Take a listen and learn more by reading the show notes! https://www.newmomboss.com/blog/104 Follow me on social media! Welcome to the 21st episode of Health Science Coach, a guide to your health care career. Today we take a look into the life of a birth doula and birth photographer. Like - Comment - Subscribe https://www.mdbirthservices.com/ Hi! I'm Maggie, a birth doula, birth photographer & graphic designer. I live in the Kansas City area with my husband, two young children and dogs. I'm very passionate about all things birth and making sure that you not only have a more supported birth experience, but also the memories to last a lifetime! I also love to incorporate aromatherapy into the birth-space. I will bring multiple essential oils that can be incorporated into your birth experience, catering to your individual needs! Essential oils can help with emotional grounding, confidence, energy, & progressing labor. Plus, I'll provide you with an oil in late pregnancy to help prepare your body. The doula I had at my child's birth inspired me to become a doula myself. I was overwhelmed by the amount of support and comfort she provided that I went on to attain my doula training few years later. Every birth looks different, and I believe that every birth deserves more support, no matter what kind of birth you have to have or end up having. Support comes in physical, mental & emotional ways for the birthing person as well as her partner. This is a big day for your partner as well, and they deserve to be present for it too. It is my job to have the laboring mother and her partner feel supported, comfortable, and confident. Preparing for birth can be so important – mentally & physically! I am Spinning Babies trained and feel its a great resource for preparing your body and helping to best position your baby! 3 things you might not know about me: 1. I am level 1 reiki certified & my daughter and great dane love when I practice on them! 2. I have taken a level 1 prenatal yoga teacher training. While I haven't actually taught much prenatal yoga, it frequently surfaces in my job as a doula & I practice yoga all of the time! 3. I was always scared of blood and needles and would always faint in doctor's offices as a child!

In the Homeschool CEO community, anything is possible. That includes retiring your husband from his 9-5 (if that's something you desire). It's possible to build a successful business that retires your husband EVEN IF your husband works all day while you are busy on the homefront homeschooling and building your business. In fact, that's exactly what Tavia Redburn did back in 2018. As a mom of 3 who also owns a busy photography studio, Tavia shares the amazing story of how she was able to retire her husband while homeschooling the kids. Tavia also shares what they do to make their non-traditional set-up work for their family. If you're curious to learn what's really possible as a Homeschool CEO, this story will inspire you. Send us a Text Message.I see a lot of birth photographers making a critical mistake right now, and I want to talk about it today! They think, “If hospitals are only allowing 1 visitor then I can't promote my business or get clients because I can't photograph their birth.” And I get it! So many other birth photographers are pressing pause on their business until hospitals open back up. BUT, this is the kind of thinking that keeps birth photographers from growing. The world has never seen anything like COVID the affects it's had on us in our lifetime, this is true. With the hospital restrictions, birth photographers worldwide have most definitely been impacted. In this episode, we're discussing how our studio is handling COVID as photographers who specialize in birth!
