Have you ever lost weight only to realize your mindset never caught up?In this episode, Ethan sits down with Dr. Amy Hornaman to talk about the part of weight loss people rarely discuss: identity. They explore what happens after the scale changes, why maintaining weight loss can feel harder than losing it, and how old beliefs around food, restriction, carbs, and self-perception can stay long after physical transformation. Ethan also shares personal stories from years of dieting and what finally helped create lasting change. For more thoughts and updates from Ethan, sign up for his newsletter here:https://ethansuplee.substack.com/SHOW HIGHLIGHTS00:00 Intro and choosing the real topic02:40 How Ethan made weight loss stick06:30 Why maintaining is harder than dieting14:20 Diet history and chasing quick fixes24:00 Rethinking food rules and calorie awareness30:20 Carb guilt and changing old beliefs36:30 The part of weight loss no one prepares you for39:20 Why identity does not change overnight46:00 Carrying old habits into a new body50:40 Action versus staying stuck in your head53:00 Final reflections and listener questions Hosted on Acast. We start with life updates: Giana's baby shower and travels to California, Bradshaw reflecting on how Giana's family reminds him of his own, preparations for the baby, and an update on Bradshaw's shoulder recovery. Naturally, the conversation spirals into dogs, consciousness, and the complexity of the human condition before we finally arrive at today's topic: “Why Yoga Communities Don't Feel the Same.” About 13 minutes in, we get to the heart of the conversation and explore what's shifted in yoga culture, and modern culture more broadly, that has changed the feeling of the yoga studio as a true third space. We talk about the impact of technology, Groupon and ClassPass culture, social media, COVID, rising city costs, and the commodification of wellness. Before social media, people primarily practiced in person, inspiration came from teachers and community rather than algorithms, and the studio often felt less performative and more like a homecoming, a sacred reprieve from daily life rather than just another fitness class. We reflect on the small rituals many studios once had: tea stations, couches, bulletin boards, workshops that felt social, post-class dinners, arriving early to settle in, doors locking at start time, and the unspoken intimacy of practicing in the same room week after week. Now, with preregistration apps, late arrivals, online classes, and endless studio sampling, yoga can sometimes feel more transactional and convenience-driven. At the same time, we acknowledge that many modern shifts have also made yoga more accessible and brought more people into the practice. This episode isn't about saying things were better before, but about exploring loneliness, belonging, changing culture, and asking how we might cultivate deeper community again in a world that increasingly pulls people apart.Want to support our podcast? Welcome to episode #274 of The COD Casuals, where we discuss all things Call of Duty, casual and professional! In this episode, we start off talking about an inevitable fact of friends dropping off of gaming, and what may be contributing to this. As most of our friends have stopped playing, we turn to the games we had growing up, and how the quality of those titles, such as Call of Duty, has changed so much over the years that it has turned people away from gaming altogether. We share our thoughts on story games, and their ability to tell a story you actually cared about and wanted to keep playing. This shifts our talk to the seasons in BO7, and how the story continues to be told, despite not having that initial interest from a lack of quality. Along with this, when it comes to quality and effort in COD, most turn to the maps being a main point of focus. We give our thoughts on how map design and quality has been trending over the years, as well as sharing the fact that despite good maps in the past, there are very few that live on over the years. Finally, we close with some CDL updates, and are looking forward to an exciting major 3 tournament. Do you share the experience of having a shrinking list of friends still playing regularly? What's the longest you've gone without gaming? Do you agree with our takes on storylines in gaming? Does COD need a full reset when it comes to their campaigns? Finally, do you remember a lot of maps from old COD titles, or is your memory as bad as ours? Please let us know as we discuss this and much more! In this episode, I sit down with Evan Campbell, founder of the Conshohocken Running Club, to talk about what it actually means to create a space where all paces feel welcome and why that matters more than ever for the future of running. And how shifting the focus of run club from ego and performance to making a difference in your community can be more fulfilling than your next PR. We get into: Why “all paces welcome” often falls flat and how to do it right How run clubs can become powerful community hubs, not just workout groups The role of leadership, local partnerships, and even politics in shaping a run club How their club raised money for a local elementary school and built relationships within their town What runners can do to give back through the sport they love If you've ever felt intimidated to join a run club… or you're part of one and want to make it better… this episode will change how you see running. In this episode of the Tactical Living Podcast, hosts Coach Ashlie Walton and Sergeant Clint Walton talk about the quiet realization many first responders reach after repeated exposure to trauma: something has changed, and going back to who you were before doesn't feel possible. This episode isn't about being broken. It's about understanding how trauma reshapes perspective, identity, and emotional responses—and why trying to return to an old version of yourself often creates more frustration than healing.

What is music actually doing inside of us? In this solo reflection, Jeff Krasno explores the science and soul of how music shapes the human brain, regulates emotion, and connects us across distance and even across difference. Drawing from neuroscience research, Jeff explains how music can synchronize multiple brains at once, aligning nervous systems during shared emotional moments. EEG studies show that powerful passages in music can create real neural convergence, offering a sense of unity beneath belief and identity. He also explores why we are drawn to sad music. Melancholic songs help regulate emotion, releasing soothing and connective chemicals in the brain that allow us to process grief, longing, and distance while feeling less alone.Through stories of live music, memory, and fatherhood, this episode reveals how music: Synchronizes brains and nervous systems Supports emotional processing and regulation Collapses distance through memory and attachment Helps transform sadness into meaning Reminds us of our shared human wiring Music does not ask what we believe. It moves us anyway. In this episode, I share a personal experience of feeling like I suddenly stepped into a different reality when I couldn't find my car, and my usual instincts didn't respond the way they normally do. I explore what timeline hopping can feel like when everything looks the same, but the energetic experience feels different. In this video, Jim Marous broadcasts from Miami's Wynwood Arts District — one of the most vibrant creative hubs in the world. Using the evolution of Wynwood as a backdrop, Jim explores why so many financial institutions struggle to differentiate, why creativity has become a strategic imperative, and how banks can learn from brands and artists unafraid to take bold, distinctive stands. From the history of Wynwood's transformation to the sameness of today's mobile banking experiences, Jim breaks down the hidden cost of playing it safe and what it will take for banks and credit unions to stand out in a crowded, commoditized marketplace. If you want your organization to compete on something other than price, convenience, or compliance, this episode is a wake-up call — and a path forward.

Maybe you’re eating an apple, or a piece of lettuce right now. Could be a broccoli stem or perhaps a lovely juicy tomato. If you are, are you wondering how intelligent that plant is? I’d guess not. But here’s a conversation that might make you think twice. Zoë Schlanger, a science writer for the Atlantic, has written an eye-opening book on the topic. It’s called The Light Eaters: How the Unseen World of Plant Intelligence Offers a New Understanding of Life on Earth. On today’s episode, Chris sits down with Zoë to talk about what it means for a plant to be intelligent, even without a brain, and how this revolutionary field of research might help us look at plant life a little differently.
