In today's Daily Fix: Insomniac's Wolverine game has lost its Creative Director, Brian Horton, as he moves from the upcoming Marvel game to take charge of Microsoft's Perfect Dark. Not much is known of the Wolverine game, aside from a teaser several years ago. The Perfect Dark reboot was announced back in 2020, but has languished in development hell until a new gameplay teaser was revealed earlier this year. Horton's previous credits include directing 2015's Rise of the Tomb Raider, and a short stint at Infinity Ward. In other news, Arkane Austin co-founder has some harsh words for Microsoft. Raphael Colantonio, now head of WolfEye Studios, was asked by PC Gamer what his thoughts were of Arkane Austin's closure. Colantonio called the move 'stupid' and the decision was likely to appease investors and stockholders. And finally, more than 50 million mods have been downloaded by Baldur's Gate 3 players. The game has been out for more than a year, but mod support wasn't added until Patch 7 on September 5th of this year. One of the more popular mods? A mod that changes undead character Withers to 'Bone Daddy.'

Welcome to episode #128 of The COD Casuals, where we discuss all things Call of Duty, casual and professional! In this episode, more leaks have continued to come out regarding MWIII, including the logo that will be used for the game. This opens up our discussion as to what Infinity Ward will continue to keep and develop from MWII, and what will they abandon? We discuss this, along with what we think needs to be improved to live up to the title of a sequel to MWII, and will they be able to live up to the original from 2011. Along with this, a lot of the community has been hooked on the old Call of Duty titles that have now been fixed so they are playable. Though this is great for the community as a whole, is it something Microsoft will cash out on? What do you think of our opinions on what should be kept and scrapped for MWIII? Is there anything we missed that you think is important to keep for the next title? What are your thoughts on Microsoft potentially introducing microtransactions to these old CODs to make money off them? Will they do this, or leave them alone? Please let us know as we discuss this and much more! Hope you all enjoy the episode and we'll see you next week! It seems that Modern Warfare 2 is testing a Call of Duty open world game according to recent leaks. There was a Call of Duty Black Ops 3 open world game being built in 2013. COD BLOPS 3 was the first game to introduce Specialists that seemed very similar to another live service shooter game at the time. It is my theory that COD MW2, DMZ, and WARZONE 2 are all the continuation of a testing ground for an open world Call of Duty game in the future. Welcome to Dev Game Club, where this week we present an interview with Rosie Katz,. who acted as a level designer not only on Dead Space, but the Call of Duty series (and with whom the hosts work today). Dev Game Club looks at classic video games and plays through them over several episodes, providing commentary. Podcast breakdown: 0:47 Interview 1:03:30 Break 1:04:00 Outro Issues covered: starting in central tech testing, getting in through QA, using Maya as a level design tool, bringing in the internal tech tool, easiest level design test ever, picking between games, switching to new IP, feeling the pressure to be more action-oriented due to sales potential, looking at competitors, not needing the vision to be communicated, the classic schism, games needing the room to be what they are, a room that has everything, a complicated set piece, what you do as a level designer on Dead Space, managing streaming, importing references into the tools, having setups provided, focusing on combat scenarios, doing real level design, understanding pacing first, putting the lock before the key, building in polish from the beginning, foreshadowing with audio early, moving to wide linear level design, getting to make multiplayer levels and play them internally, modding, playing many many levels, shifting meta and player creativity, less work and greater reward, making stuff that you wouldn't normally play, consistency in a single game, learning from the experienced folks with your own experience. Games, people, and influences mentioned or discussed: Tiger Woods 2007, EA, Godfather 2, Sledgehammer Games, Visceral Studios, Call of Duty (series), DICE, Ubisoft, Michael Condrey, The Simpsons, Ian Milham, Glen Schofield, Resident Evil (series), BioShock, Gears of War, Star Trek, Star Wars, Crystal Dynamics, Noah Hughes, Nintendo Wii, Infinity Ward, Titanfall, Dark Souls, Kirk Hamilton, Aaron Evers, Mark Garcia. The Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 SBMM debate is heating up again as Timthetatman says he won't be seen in MW2 multiplayer gameplay for long. My experience with Modern Warfare SBMM during the beta was incredibly frustrating and off putting. The MW2 beta was a great sampling of the Modern Warfare 2 multiplayer gameplay that we will experience. But many zeroed in on the fact that mw2 sbmm ruined their experience. This will my Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 campaign review after completing the game. My first impressions were almost entirely positive but my updated Modern Warfare 2 review campaign is a mix of good and bad. The MW2 campaign gameplay was mostly consistent from beginning to end, but some decisions left me confused. I thought the Modern Warfare 2 campaign ending was not my favorite but the mid-credits scene set the stage for future content and games. Yesterday I finished the campaign on regular in our Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 campaign gameplay live stream. This will be my Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 campaign first impressions after 3 hours and 6 missions. The MW2 campaign is undeniably the best that I have played in the series so far. The MW2 campaign early access has begun and we put in a good amount of time with it. I will do a complete Modern Warfare 2 campaign review when I finish the game. The latest Modern Warfare 2 news centers around a campaign DLC which has never happened before. The MW2 leaks confirm a theory I have after covering the Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 raids in a recent stream. Nobody doubted the existence of MW2 DLC but seeing a Modern Warfare 2 campaign DLC is brand new territory for the franchise.
