Eternity is a LONG time… Agreed? Yes! Heaven seems so much more preferable than Hell… Agreed? Yes! So, let's jump in and discuss the not-so-little topic of salvation! Join us as we interview Cesar Lopez, a local church elder, as he discusses all-things salvation. For example: How does the Bible use the term salvation and what does it refer to? (You might be surprised!) Once you have salvation, can you lose it? Can you earn salvation through doing good works? Is that what “work out your own salvation” means in Philippians 2? What if someone is a “back-slidden” Christian or worse, someone who never returns to Christ? (We all know a few!) TAKE NOTE!... I can just about GUARANTEE that you can't walk away from this episode without feeling fired-up about your own salvation and/or telling others about the salvation they so desperately need… and where the one place they can receive it is. Hallelujah. This week on Renoites we are talking podcasting! Reno has a variety of local podcasts of different formats and covering different issues. About a year ago I was grateful to be invited to appear on Up in the Mix, a podcast and radio show hosted by Shaughn Richardson and Cesar Lopez. Up in the Mix is a hip hop inspired music, news and interview show that beginning it's 5th season and has released hundreds of episodes. It was great to have Shaughn and Cesar join me on Renoites to discuss the history of their podcast, what they think about when looking for guests, what's missing from the local podcast community, creating both a podcast and radio show for KWNK at the same time, as well as their lives outside the podcast. Shaughn is a high school teacher with the Washoe County School District and on the Reno Arts and Culture Commission and Cesar is a local photographer. Renoites is a listener-funded project. I'm a believer in audience supported over advertiser-driven media, and you can help Renoites continue to grow and provide stories and information by becoming an official patron of the show. Just go to patreon.com/renoites to learn more and sign up for as little as a few dollars a month (that's about a dollar an episode). There are also great perks available to patrons like early or exclusive content, Renoites swag, shout-outs on the show, and more. If you have any guest or topic suggestions, please shoot me an email at conor@renoites.com. This season of Renoites is produced by Conor McQuivey and Lynn Lazaro. Thank you for listening!

Welcome back to ElBasement.com. We dedicate this episode to our dear friend Cesar Lopez, who after going through intensive rounds of chemo, is now at home fighting for his health. CV bypasses the political trappings, and goes straight to the heart of the perennial battle over military healthcare spending. Ashley celebrates the continuing series of female firsts in the military by sharing the story of Capt. Candice Bowen, who has taken command of Bravo Company, 3rd Battalion, 116th Infantry Regiment, 116th Infantry Brigade Combat Team, making her one of the first black women to take command of a rifle company in the National Guard and the first female infantry commander in Virginia. After watching "Immigration Nation" on Netflix, Jeff shares his take on the plight of deported Marine veteran Cesar Lopez and launches a wider discussion on military service and citizenship. Rapid Fire: Special Forces gear spending and the joys of CIF, trouble stirring in Syria Space Force units are popping up around the world - including Thule, Greenland - which get's CV a little nostalgic, and now Iran is paying bounties. Jeff also shares his excitement for the 100 Miles for Hope campaign swag.

There was no live episode of Buildings on Air this month since the regular BoA crowd was away at the Venice Architecture Biennale. Luckily, we have your back and brought a piece of Venice home in the form of an audio recording! The panel, hosted by the U.S. Pavilion curators at the Biennale was organized by The Architecture Lobby, a labor advocacy group for architects we frequently discuss on the show, and designed to jive with the "Dimensions of Citizenship" theme of the U.S. Pavilion. The panel is organized into two parts and features Kamabari Baxi, Peggy Deamer, Keefer Dunn, Ane Gonzalez Lara, Nathan Friedman, Ashton Hamm, James Heard, Cesar Lopez, Margie O’Driscoll (moderating), Ron Rael, Manuel Schvartzberg, Dexter Walcott, and Mabel Wilson. BIG THANK YOU to Chelsea Kilburn for recording the event and providing the audio, as well as the whole U.S Pavilion team (especially co-curators Ann Lui, Mimi Zeiger, and Niall Atkinson) for inviting the Architecture Lobby to be a part of the procedings!
Guest minister Cesar Lopez discusses the why, what, where, and who of Special Missions.
