Embark on a spiritual odyssey with us as we ring in the new year with a heartfelt celebration of choir and corporate singing, brought to life by the collective genius of Greg Tomas, Doria Johnson, Mietta Stancil Farrar, and Dr. Scott Cumberbatch. We promise a journey into the theological tapestry of Charles Wesley's iconic hymn "And Can It Be That I Should Gain?" and an intimate look into the transformative power of gospel choir music in communal worship settings.Dr. Scott Cumberbatch joins us in the Choir Room to share his extraordinary life story, weaving through the chords of music and ministry influenced by early childhood experiences and his mother's role as a minister of music. His eclectic journey from acting to teaching, and directing choirs, illustrates the profound impact of musical talent and dedication across various spheres. Meanwhile, our discussion transcends mere performance, delving into the responsibilities of music leadership and the profound connection between a choir's voice and the congregation's spirit. The digital age may have altered our approach to finding and selecting gospel music, but the essence of choral ministry remains unchanged. As we navigate the vast online world for gospel choir music, we emphasize the importance of authenticity and the power of songs that speak to the soul. Whether it's through unearthing hidden gems or embracing the influence of independent artists, we highlight the significance of bringing true gospel messages to life, inspiring choirs to be pioneers in a continuously evolving musical landscape.https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=2ahUKEwiku8Lc-5KEAxUTmIkEHfSDCUIQFnoECCQQAQ&url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.youtube.com%2Fchannel%2FUCDniA77EicNy3S_FQija5Ow&usg=AOvVaw0LJT0wJ-W6cZhVNFUtCqhZ&opi=89978449https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=&ved=2ahUKEwiku8Lc-5KEAxUTmIkEHfSDCUIQFnoECBoQAQ&url=https%3A%2F%2Fmusic.apple.com%2Fus%2Falbum%2Fhymns-from-the-heart%2F1163235681&usg=AOvVaw3Vbi_2V-cPd8859waEcS94&opi=89978449https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=2ahUKEwiku8Lc-5KEAxUTmIkEHfSDCUIQFnoECCEQAQ&url=https%3A%2F%2Fopen.spotify.com%2Falbum%2F1ddkMzUxBLVTHT4X6vKmqO&usg=AOvVaw2j1t6i1MS442UgQrqD109s&opi=89978449Perpetuating and Promoting the Christian and Positive Idea Through the Medium of Music and Other Arts.

What happens when a group of choir enthusiasts gather to discuss their shared passion for choir music and worship? You get a lively discussion that explores hymns to modern day Gospel, and everything in between. Joined by Dorian Johnson, Mietta Stancil-Farrar, and Coleman Smart, we cover a lot of ground, starting with Dorian's Hymn of the Week and segue into Mietta's CRQ (Choir Room Question) sent in by a listener asking about our favored choir compositions and current playlists.Greg strikes up the keyboard on a song from Mietta's playlist and she is unable to restrain herself from singing. We shift our focus to the need for pushing creative boundaries in gospel music, the importance of vocal ability and stamina, the power of the "Hand-Clapper" choir piece "Psalm 68", and the beauty of embracing other cultures and styles. Plus, get ready for a trip down memory lane as Greg and Dorian share a little of their Easter-past memory of singing the "Power Praise" reprise.Lastly, we take a critical look at the current landscape of church choir music and discuss strategies for reintroducing anthems into church choirs. Greg weighs in on how we can bridge the gap between the traditional and the contemporary and incorporate the history and complexity of this music into our choirs. Stay tuned as we also discuss the trend of stems and underscore the importance of merging the old and the new, all while preserving the spiritual essence of choir music.#Richardsmallwood, #KurrCarr, #Bradleyknight, #billgaither, #mormontabernaclechoir, #brooklyntabernaclechoir, #tscmusicPerpetuating and Promoting the Christian and Positive Idea Through the Medium of Music and Other Arts.

Demetrius West began his gospel music career over a decade ago. After seeing the directing abilities of his great-grandmother, he began a passion for gospel music. With the inspiration of many teachers that have helped him along the way, it was no surprise that Demetrius would develop leadership and euphonious musical talents withspeed. Since 2004, West has committed himself to the advancement of the kingdom and has assisted with many choirs, groups, soloists, and musicians. He has traveled the length and breadth of the United States of America, conducting workshops and seminars to help other ministries perfect their gifts and talents. West has shared the stage with many Gospel and Christian artists such as Kirk Franklin, Marvin Sapp, and Chris Tomlin, to name a few. Demetrius released his new critically acclaimed album Jesus Promoter in 2015 featuring “God of Everything” with the award-winning Earnest Pugh, who lends his vocal ability on the track. West put together a 40-voice choir named Jesus Promoters to accompany him on this effort. Since the inceptions of Demetrius West and Jesus Promoters (JP), they have managed to become crowd-pleaser to choir enthusiasts alike. In 2018, Demetrius West and JP inked an inclusive record deal with Black smoke Music Worldwide, spear-headed by gospel icon and hit-maker, Kerry Douglas. In August of that year, Demetrius West and JP released the album ChoirOlogy: The Study of Choir Music, which garnered the choir a Stellar Award Nomination, Steeple Award Nomination and (9) Rhythm of Gospel Award Nominations. The lead-out single, “Open the Floodgates,” went on to top #2 on Billboard gospel radio. Demetrius West featuring his choir, Jesus Promoters,is slated to release their new album, “Do It Again,” June 19th, 2020. The lead single, “I’m Next” is currently top 15 on Billboard radio. Demetrius is presently the Minister of Music and Arts and faithful member of the Westside Missionary Baptist Church, where Michael O. Bryant is Pastor in Indianapolis, IN. Moira Smiley is a singer/composer who creates and performs new work for voices. A musical polyglot, and vocal shape-shifter, her voice – and composing – are heard on feature films, BBC & PBS television programs, NPR, and on more than 60 albums. When she’s not leading her own group, Moira Smiley & VOCO, she tours with with groups like indie artist tUnE-yArDs, Solas, The Lomax Project and Billy Child’s “Laura Nyro Re-Imagined”. Born in Vermont, raised in Indiana and now living in Los Angeles, her musical foundation is harmony and traditional folk songs, but she has spread her talent, including serving as Musical Director for Shakespeare Santa Cruz , performing at the London Proms Festival, being featured on BBC3’s The Choir, and ABC Australia’s Books & Arts programs where her spare, vocally driven warped traditional songs, original polyphony and body percussion get rave reviews and audience love and keep her in high demand as a choral clinician, composer and arranger. Now a rapper, hip hop poet and performer and – most important – an activist using music and art to stop violence against women and end a machismo culture that is toxic to women, men and families. Her music, including her new album Via, is captivating with smooth rap, emotional choruses Her videos burst with energy and dance, and her message of confidence and empowerment inspires women, not only in her native Costa Rica, but worldwide. She has experience the abuses she singa about - she talkis to women and girls personally and to men through the love of their families. NAKURY is truly an artist larger than her art and she is making waves on tours, online and on recordings.

Transitions 3.0 (For My Brother without whom none of this would have come about) When did you last listen to Pink Floyd?... Well here is your chance.. (Denis va directement a 31:45 jusqu'à 59:30 c’est pour toi!) Continuing my experimental sets with a foray into Progressive House, Progressive Rock and Trance. This is a nocturnal vibe set, therefore grab a book or set yourself some time aside to meditate or ... who knows? prepare yourselves to do the deed... This is a set for the mind and the soul.. One hundred years ago, my big. Big brother forced unto me HIS Long Plays … For those children of the digital age, who do not know what a LP is, well, it was made out of wax, it was circular and it was analog.. It had a beautiful cover, it was tactile and it could not be ripped nor copied.. and as far as my brother was concern his LP's were out of bounds for his little brother.. From the tail end of the Beatles to Pink Floyd, The Who ( their Rock Opera period), Genesis, Emerson Lake & Palmer, King Crimson, Robert Fripp, Procol Harum, Jeff Beck, Traffic, Bowie, Eno, Mike Oldfield, Vangelis, Peter Gabriel, Supertramp, the Cure and up to New Order, my BIG brother made me listen to his records.. I really had no choice .. It was his music or else… What I now fully realize is how much my musical space is partly grounded in his foundations.. And by all means... they weren’t bad ones.. I added Classical and Choir Music and ON MY OWN ;) … discovered Funk and Soul… But my love for Trance, Tech and Progressive House has undoubtedly its roots in my brother’s record collection.. Bless him and this one is for him. In "Transitions 3.0" expect instrumental well built tunes with chords progressions, minor keys, synth pads, guitar solos and tubular bells. Also expect songs with a message, syncopated beats and all throughout pulsating basslines.. Basslines not just here to give the punter a sense of the beat to folllow, but basslines that either support and enhance the tune or bring a whole new melodic dimension. A far from faultless set but I have collected for you some truly epic tunes and hey… when was the last time you listen to Pink Floyd? Playlist: 2012 Make It Happen (Manu Riga Come Back Remix) [Xtian Resist Edit feat Roland Clark]. Chantola 2012 How Never (Original Mix) . David Jach & Beatamines 2012 Before I Lose Control (Dub vs. Original Mix). Betoko 2012 Moonlight (Original Mix) . Magnetix Project feat. N. Dave 2012 Feel The Sun Light (Hermetic Dust Remix). Digital Mess feat. V. Ray 2012 K9 (Solee Remix). Dave Seaman and Guy Mantzur 2008 Dont Hold Back (Out Of Office Remix). The Potbelleez 2010 Time Wasted (Original Mix) [Xtian Housed & Beatified Edit] . Tengo feat Pink Floyd feat Mr. V 1973 Time (Edited) [Xtian Edit feat. Mr V and Shot Gun]. Pink Floyd 2007 The Ones that Get Away ( Intro Mix) [ Xtian Resist Edit feat. Roland Clark] . Arnej 2012 One Thousand Suns (Disco Citizens Remix). Ferry Corsten and Chicane 2012 Requiem (Original Mix). Solarstone with Clare Stagg Highlights: easier to say that the weakest song here is the Chicane/Corsten jam.. But could I really not play a new Chicane? Do not miss!!! "Make it Happen" a techie number with a bassline to die for and very rolling synth pads. “How Never” ( check out the Zoo Brazil remix on Beatport) anothe techie number with amazing percussions and tight beats all supported by a massive bass and turned etheral by an amazing vocalist whose anme I could not find anywhere.. “Before I Lose Control” from Betoko, HUGE downtempo track yet driving little hell.. Listen to the bass, it is a masterpiece of subtlety, a bass used like a violin to uncover another melodic line... This begs for a more aggresive remix... "Moonlight" LOVE THIS.. chiil out acoustic guitar, synth, haunting bassline, tight percusions and great progressions.. You will love it.. This would kill if dropped at the right time... If you liked Guitarra G from Banda Sonora, get this track.. I absolutely LOVE the Seaman’s track “K9” with its Tubular bells. Proggresive House at tis very, very best.. And the drop of the bells.. Pure genius! My little Pink Floyd medley is more a trip down memory lane than anything particularly amazing but it just came.. brought by the previous track as a reminder that music did not start with EDM.. and Time Wasted is a very clever modern uptake on the PF classic. I chose to put “Requiem” as the last track. Indie Rock, Progreesive House who knws? Who cares.. It reminds me of the haunting voice of Dolores Mary Eileen O'Riordan of the Cranberries famous. Truly Amazing and this the standout track of this set with “K9”. "The Ones That Get Away" I used this track previously, classic trance and I needed to put a bit of a kick in the mix after the classic "Time." As the length of the highlight section shows, I had fun with this episode. I truly hope you will enjoy it as much as I do. It is on repeat in my car and I NEVER listen to my sets once published... Merci Denis.. Xtian P.S.: as to the Mr V sample at the start of Time.. if anyone think I take myself seriously doing this... they have never met me.. The sample just felt right and yes... I had fun!
During March 2012 Immanuel Christian Reformed Church in Fort Collins, CO celebrated her 100th Anniversary. The anniversary Sunday Worship Service was on March 25.
