It has been since April 2023 that I dropped a new episode of Worldly Church Girl. Since then, I've immersed myself in my writing, drove into the art of flower arrangements, and made custom gemstone tumblers. And let me tell you, I've missed podcasting, but I wanted to do it a little differently. I will still have guests on my live shows, but I will drop mini episodes of just little ol' me weekly. I hope you join me on this journey, and most importantly, I hope you enjoy it and feel blessed by it too.

    Episode 115 – Montell Jordan

History:The Billboard Top Ten Songs chart for 1995 contains the following names: Coolio, TLC, Seal, Boyz II Men, Mariah Carey, Madonna, and a man named Montell Jordan. This Is How We Do It was a breakout new jack-swing song that topped the Hot 100 for seven weeks and R&B charts for eight. Jordan, tall and handsome with a silky-smooth voice, established himself as a powerful presence in music, brimming with talent, savvy, and charm. Over his nearly twenty-year career in music, Jordan has released seven studio albums, and fourteen singles, and is a Grammy-nominated artist, selling more than 10 million records worldwide. Origins:From South Central Los Angeles to Pepperdine University in Malibu, Montell was on course to attend law school when a professor said one of his biggest regrets was missing the chance to pursue music. In a flash, Montell recognized that if he was ever going to take a shot at music, he needed to do it then. He put together a demo, which eventually landed in the hands of Def Jam Records and Russell Simmons. This Is How We Do It took off, and his first of many number-one singles was born. Following years of awards, achievements, and accolades that never seemed to satisfy, Montell learned that without music, he's a husband, a dad, and a friend. He stepped away from the music business for many years in search of significance over success. “I had to learn who Montell was outside of music to determine that I make music and music doesn't make me.” In that time away, Montell was able to reevaluate his priorities and ultimately find his passion. This was found as he connected with his childhood faith. Ministry:Montell began to realize the difference between gifting and calling. He was gifted with music, but he was called to minister. Speaking, teaching, mentoring, counseling, and writing are some of the many ways Jordan is fulfilling his purpose in ministry today. Jordan now does music again as he has determined both what he is gifted to do and what he is purposed to do and allowed those worlds to meet. Montell served more than 14,000 people from 140 nations around the world each weekend for the last decade as an executive pastor of music, marriage, and men's ministry at Victory World Church in Norcross, GA. He continues to redefine sound through Victory, an ideal place that builds families transforms communities, reconciles cultures, and impacts nations. In his musical past, Montell had already shown an ability to stretch boundaries of genre and style and uses this same ability to influence, impact, and inspire today. Jordan's musical achievements are still recognized worldwide, and he and his wife of 20+ years, Kristin Jordan released a marriage book in October 2017 titled, “Marriage Masterpeace Inc! Making Your Marriage A Masterpeace.” Jordan released his autobiography, “Becoming Unfamous” during the summer of 2016. Montell brings the word of God and personal experience from the music business to provide a practical and applicable understanding of music and worship to light. He still tours on occasion to bring the love of Christ outside the four walls of the church to concert venues all over the world. Montell and Kristin is now a marriage missionary and has founded Marriage Masterpeace Inc., a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that seeks to help marriages all around the world by helping men and women reconcile with God and then to each other in efforts to eradicate divorce by taking the option off the table. Music:Montell Jordan's latest single, “When I'm Around You” feat. Grammy award-winning rap artist Lecrae is his first R&B song in nearly ten years! The new song is available NOW on all digital platforms and is currently charting on Urban AC radio! The single is modern R&B with a soulful relevancy easily identifiable as classic Montell Jordan. This new song and album are created to be the soundtrack for married couples (and those who desire to be married) by assisting them in keeping passion alive in their re...

Armed with the Sword, and what seems like an effortless ability to captivate audiences of all ages, XIIITH Disciple, nominated in three categories for the 2015 South Florida Gospel Music Awards, is taking his music, which he coined, “Message/Ministry Muzik,” to the masses, making a positive impact & causing many to say, “I See,” the title to one of the fan-favorite songs to date. XIIITH Disciple is a polished, well-rounded artist, often playing various roles (doctor, thug, bible character, warrior) in stage plays. He often does community work with organizations such as Feeding South Florida and 34Wayz Entertainment. “I can do that!” These were the words of a young girl as she watched elementary-school-aged boys freestyle on the playground. Little did the artist, now known as G.I.L, know that rapping would go far beyond a frivolous challenge. She began to develop not only a love for it but for poetry in general. G.I.L, pronounced “Jill,” was born in Plantation, Florida but raised in the small town of Statesboro, Georgia. She was a timid child who later found she could freely and unapologetically speak through the lyrics of poems and songs she wrote. Her single-parent mother made sure that G.I.L and her three siblings had a strong spiritual foundation. That being said, no matter where G.I.L may have found herself at in her life, she always made her way back to her roots in Christ. It was no coincidence that upon connecting with a then Christian Artist, now husband, her love for writing music resurfaced. Today G.I.L (God Is Love) is the mother of three beautiful children Mackenzie, Malachi, and Derrick III, and the wife of Derrick Gillis Jr. goes by the artist name XIIITH Disciple. She utilizes her gift to minister in the form of Christian Hip-Hop to those who have not always made the best decisions in life. Her goal is to spread God’s Grace, Mercy, and most importantly, Love to all who will listen. G.I.L knows that one of the enemy’s go-to tactics of destruction is to convince people that they are not loved; therefore, instilling the truth of God’s love is the majority of the battle. Eposide 067 – Durmond Glanton

Play Episode Listen Later Dec 7, 2020 50:37

Every once in a while, an exceptional and incredible talent impacts the gospel music industry and leaves a lasting impression. The anointed musical virtuoso Durmond Glanton is one of those rapidly expanding gospel artist who has done just that! When he sings, he becomes a vessel through which the intent of worship and praise is fully recognized. Glanton brings to his listening audience “worship and praise through song” with a personalized harmonic blend. What a supersized and engaging talent the Lord has given to the industry! Glanton was born on July 14, 1977. Nevertheless, he has encountered multiple series of attacks from the enemy on his life from conception. Yet God had a plan! In 2000, while attending a local revival in Rochester, NY, he received a Word from the Lord from Prophet Eric Cooper from Phoenix, Arizona. Prophet Cooper declared to him, “After the Storm, God is going to put your name in lights for the world to see.” Subsequently, he definitely encountered thunderous and tumultuous storms in his life! He miraculously survived 3 strokes, beginning stage lung cancer, a minor heart attack, homelessness, drug addiction, and suicidal battles. Today, however, if you were to ask him, “how were you able to go through all that, at such a young age and still survive?” His reply simply would be, “when God is fighting for you, you can’t lose.” “People choose to be defeated; I choose to be UNDEFEATED with God on my side.” He further encourages his audience “to not only praise God during the battle but when the victory is won REJOICE.” Accordingly, He is living the life and singing the praises! Glanton was a child prodigy! At the age of 4, he taught himself how to play the drums, and he mastered the skill by the age of 9. Faithfully, he served as the church drummer until he was 22 years of age. His wonderment of music continued as he once again locked himself in a room and taught himself how to play the piano. Please hear him in his finest hour on his current dual release single projects “Rejoice” and “Undefeated.” These anointed releases offer a summary of Glanton’s life story set to music, which ends well! “Rejoice” features rhythmic agility and, of course, the all-powerful toe-tapping, hand-clapping, praised infused impact. You can listen over and over to it when you’re going through the storms of life. Remember, Psalm 34:1 declares, “I will bless the Lord at all times. His Praise shall continually be in my mouth.” Undefeated” is his testament that he is a great example of overcoming all odds, and can “rejoice” knowing that only through Jesus Christ, we are “undefeated.” These singles immediately establish a dialogue with the melody and lyrics with a personalized melodic/harmonic blend. Besides, his extraordinary gifts and talents continue to revolutionize the gospel music industry, coupled with inevitable proof of an even greater future. Not only is he a skillful vocalist, creative music producer, and an anointed preacher. His talents transcend various creative art forms, such as an innovative and accomplished songwriter, talented recording artist, choir director, vocal coach, music teacher, organist, and drummer. He simultaneously projects his uncompromising vocal talents and gifts to an unprecedented level of artistic achievement. He excels in the excellent! Glanton is currently serving as the Minister of Music at The W.O.W. Church (Winning Over the World) in the Atlanta, GA area. His foremost goal in Kingdom work and life is changing the world “One song at a time.” Glanton’s plan for the faith community is to give back to the less fortunate churches in their music departments by developing strong Bible-based musicians for Ministry. A quick glance at his exceptional accomplishments is quite impressive. Glanton has shared the stage with world-renowned artists such as Tye Tribbett, The Clark Sisters, Bobby Jones, and Keith Wonderboy Johnson. Accordingly, Durmond Glanton cordially invites you to share his journey as you ...
