This week we welcome Dublin-based DJ and promoter Jamie Langan aka DJ Half Step to the Four Four Local Selection Mix Series. The Gluais head honcho has submitted a stunningly idiosyncratic recording which features as the 246th edition of the series. Expect meddling basslines and murky undertones throughout. Our latest edition of the Four Four Local Selection has just dropped and we are excited to showcase this compelling mix recorded by DJ Half Step. The recording delves deep into bass-driven territory, visiting uncommon corners of the frequency range that encapsulate the listener in lush and introspective grooves. The mix acts as an energetic rollercoaster which sifts between varying tempo ranges, capturing the listener's attention and placing them within a range of dubby atmospheres which makes for ideal listening. DJ Half Step is also known for running shows under the 'Gluais' club night. The party has been well received since its inception where they have welcomed the likes of Dylan Fogarty, Iva Mechkarova and Cian Sullivan as well as recently hosting Main Phase in The Racket Space where DJ Half Step and Jezebel handled support duties for the esteemed DJ, producer and 'All The Wicked' label head. The Dublin-based party undoubtedly has more tricks up their sleeves and is one to keep an eye on in future. When we grieve, there is an overwhelming urge to relieve the pain. Our bodies cry out for comfort, for support, for numbing, for crying, for whatever coping may seem right. And when a death is unexpected, that need for relief is even stronger. But when Cian Sullivan lost his sister Arwen in 2020 so much of his grieving process was halted by the early days of lockdown. And despite the usual coping mechanisms being denied, Cian has one of the most profound insights on loss, acceptance and compassion I have ever heard.

Though drag has existed, in some form, for hundreds of years - there's no question about the revolution that RuPaul's Drag Race brought upon it. Cian Sullivan and James O'Hagan are hosts of 'Sissy That Pod' - they joined the show to explore the evolution, and dominance, of Ru's drag empire!
