I cannot believe this is my first full episode about breathwork!  This practice has completely changed my life, and has healed things that years of therapy were not able to fully heal.  Seven years in, I'm still going strong.I have seen this CUT THE WORK IN HALF (if not much faster) with the individuals and groups that I work with.I am so grateful to my teacher David Elliott.We are living in urgent times, and don't have years to waste anymore.  I believe that breathwork is a vital practice - it brings us to the heart of the matter.The type of breathwork that I teach is a longer style done lying down. It was an overcast Monday afternoon in late April, and Michael Oher, the former football player whose high school years were dramatized in the movie “The Blind Side,” was driving Michael Sokolove on a tour through a forlorn-looking stretch of Memphis and past some of the landmarks of his childhood.In the movie, Oher moves into the home of the wealthy white couple Leigh Anne and Sean Tuohy. I loved this conversation with Sophie + Yerasimos about their relationship of almost 10 years.  They are both deeply dedicated to inner work and growth, which really shows in the marriage they've created.  We speak about how important it was for them to build a strong foundation of friendship first, which allowed them to get to know each other in a way that looks very different from the typical process of dating.  We also discussed how they get through conflict in a healthy way, the importance of not sweeping things under the rug, and elevating each other towards their highest selves. Understanding basic relationship psychology, attachment styles, and parts work are key for these two; in addition to understanding the nervous system and human design.Personal responsibility is a huge value for these two, and it really shows!  I have seen this to be such a key value in healthy relationships, when both people are able to take ownership for their stuff, to apologize and repair. The organization, now an official tax-exempt nonprofit, has raised around $17,000, providing funds for various activities for military kids. Leighanne was recently named one of the winners at a "Shark Tank"-style competition held at Georgia Tech by the National Society of High School Scholars, securing $10,000. The organization was initially created for Gold Star children but has expanded to help other families in need. STORY 2: 18 residents displaced in Smyrna apartment fire A fire at MAA Spring Luxury Apartments in Smyrna displaced 18 residents on Thursday night. The fire started on a balcony around 10 p.m., but firefighters contained it to one side of the building, preventing it from spreading to adjacent apartments. Three companies and three engines responded to the incident, and there were no reported injuries among responders or residents. The cause of the fire remains undetermined, and the American Red Cross is assisting the displaced residents. STORY 3: 'The Spark': Acworth Citizen Recognized for Historic Preservation Abbie Parks, a resident of Acworth, Georgia, has received the Nancy Smith Maxwell Award from the Save Acworth History Foundation for her exceptional efforts in preserving local history. Parks, who moved to Acworth in 1996, has played a key role in safeguarding the city's heritage. She served on and chaired the Acworth Historic Preservation Commission, worked with the city's tourism board, and chaired the Cobb County Historic Preservation Commission. Parks has been instrumental in saving iconic institutions like the Cowan Historic Mill and the Logan Farm House.
