For days the headlines have been consumed by what Bob Vylan said at Glastonbury. Jemma and Marina discuss. But, before they disseminate all the Glasto fallout and furore, they enjoy some British language discussion. Find out how to end a call you've had enough of and how to be polite while conveying disapproval. Then, find out why Farage has made such an outlandish claim, it's compelled the Albanian Prime Minister to get stuck in. There follow some amazing clips in this episode as various people try to draw the focus of the media storm back to the fact that a ceasefire has been broken, that children are being murdered every day and that it's all on camera. It poses the question, what's a worse crime - incitement to violence or actual violence? And what are The Daily Mail thinking when they misquote on the front page? It's a rollercoaster of an episode and takes in the current chaos within the Labour party as the welfare bill causes a rebellion and some painfully sad clips as the situation in Palestine worsens. Rod Stewart offers some light relief as does the 'under rated' section. And of course there's pudding Thank you for sharing and do tweet us @MarinaPurkiss @jemmaforte @TheTrawlPodcastPatreonhttps://patreon.com/TheTrawlPodcastYoutubehttps://www.youtube.com/@TheTrawlTwitterhttps://twitter.com/TheTrawlPodcastBlueSkyhttps://bsky.app/profile/thetrawl.bsky.socialCreated and Produced by Jemma Forte & Marina PurkissEdited by Max Carrey

Bob Vylan at Glastonbury sent the outrage machine into overdrive. We've scoped 24 hours of GB News to bring you every pearl-clutching reaction from the self-declared defenders of free speech. But here's the twist: our guest, sex educator and writer Topher Taylor, actually knows someone from Bob Vylan personally — and brings rare, real-life insight into the kind of person behind the noise.THIS EPISODE CONTAINS AUDIO OF RECENT NEWS EVENTS THAT SOME PEOPLE MAY FIND UPSETTING.---THIS IS OUTCAST WORLD ---Like and subscribe wherever you get your podcasts and please leave a review. As the Glastonbury Festival heatwave rolls on, the political outrage is just warming up. Graeme and Nick Charles unpack Kneecap's headline-grabbing set and the pearl-clutching reaction from MPs and a media desperate to censor a culture they don't understand. Did The 1975 let us down with the announcement mid set they didn't want to do politics.. to only then go and sing a load of inherently political songs. There's also Bob Vylan and the stage chants that got police attention. Are we all compelled to comment on the issues tearing the world apart, or is it ok to sit things out like The 1975 tried do?Then it's onto porn in crisis: with gay adult performer Austin Wolf facing child porn and sex offence charges, we ask why mainstream porn is getting darker, more extreme, and frankly bizarre. And as if on cue, a Tory peer wants to appoint a Minister for Porn. We'd just call them what they are: the Minister for Wanks---THIS IS OUTCAST WORLD ---Like and subscribe wherever you get your podcasts and please leave a review. In this episode of Vinyl Resting Place, we're turning our attention to Glastonbury the legendary yearly pilgrimage to Worthy Farm that is a bucket list occasion for every music lover. I'm lucky enough to be heading there this year (so no bitterness here), and because I am no longer salty, Glasto gets its own episode. We dive into the mixed reactions to this year's headliners a trio that's sparked a bit of controversy and left some feeling underwhelmed. But beyond the pyramid stage, we beam about the unmatched depth and variety the festival has that makes Glastonbury so special, from the seemingly never ending list of DJ sets in the late-night dance spots to scores of bands we can wait to see and the emrging artists just waiting to be stumbled upon. Luke's livid at the fact he's stuck with just one Father's Day while his wife gets to celebrate Mother's Day in both the UK and US. Meanwhile, Pete's only just realised you're supposed to buy your partner a Mother's Day gift… and it's her first one, too. Strong start!Elsewhere, Pete confidently declares Neil Young a B-grade artist, but Luke's not having any of it. Choosing to rise above Pete's attempt at antagonising him, he dives into the new Becoming Led Zeppelin doc, while Donny reminisces about working Glasto for the free ticket and reminds us of his golden rule: getting blasted drunk is the only way to enjoy it.Also on the docket: Chris Eubank Sr's flawless skin. On this week's bonus episode Pete's secret identity is uncovered (spoiler: he really loves Disney), whilst Sam explains how he came into blows with GK Barry (farts). The pair also talk everything Glastonbury related where they reveal their wildly unrealistic ambitions to dance on the Pyramid Stage, and a deeply disturbing idea involving balloons filled with… well, let's just say Glasto might never be the same again.Listen by clicking 'Play' on Apple Podcasts, Spotify or wherever it is you're listening now.Make sure to subscribe, follow, rate and review. Happy hump day! Grab a brew, connect your headphones, and get ready to chat. This week we're heading (conversationally) to California to discuss weekend one of Coachella! We share all of our thoughts- and yours!- about whether America's biggest festival is still a vibe (if it ever was), how it stacks up against Glasto, whether the outfits were outfitting, what acts looked unmissable and what we think is wrong with the luxury festival market. Thank you so much to everyone who sent in their takes, we looooove being in conversation with you. We would also looooove if you'd leave us a glowing review and 5 star rating on this podcast player (and any others that spring to mind) and this helps others to find the podcast so that we can keep making it. See you Friday for our main episode!O, R, B x Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
We read the papers so you don't have to. Today: We've got the Glasto lineup, and we are sick of the ‘next big thing' and ready to embrace Rod Stewart. Meanwhile, The Times has a slightly patronising guide to St. Patrick's Day, so Grainne Maguire has created her own Riverdance-inspired itinerary. Plus – Fashion Week may be over, but The Guardian has some cost-effective ways to look en vogue.
