Comedian Bob Smiley joins Alan on our Small Town Famousâ„¢ podcast via phone from the tour bus of his good friend, comedian Tim Hawkins. And believe me, you can tell he's on a bus! (That's just the way Bob rolls...no pun intended). He was heading back home after a week of performances. Bob and Alan cover many subjects, such as Bob's hometown (he grew up in Era, TX, population 298), how he got his big break, being sweetly heckled in a nursing home, turning personal trials into triumph after his recent divorce. He uses his comedy as a platform to share the Gospel with thousands of people every year. Again, pardon the audio...he IS on a tour bus! Not bad, Mr. Smiley. Not bad at all. Join us this week on Christian Devotions SPEAK UP! when Scott McCausey talks music with Christian performing legend, Twila Paris. Devotion to God runs deep in the Paris family. Twila's great-grandparents were itinerant preachers in Arkansas and Oklahoma who held outdoor revival meetings and established churches, and she recounted this experience in Seventy Years Ago, a song on her Beyond a Dream album. Musical talent permeates the Paris family, as her grandmother wrote songs distributed at revivals. Her father, Oren Paris, is a minister as well as an accomplished musician and songwriter. Twila sang at church before she was old enough to attend school. She began developing her instrumental talent at the age of six when she started taking piano lessons. By the time she was performing in her high school choir, Twila was determined to become a choir teacher. She began to consider songwriting after attending a Christian discipleship school, where she decided that music would be the perfect way to express her feelings about God. In the 1980s and 1990s, Twila toured extensively as she opened for the Imperials. After receiving her first #1 hit, she began headlining her own concert tours with such notable opening artists as Wayne Watson, Clay Crosse, Phil Kaeggy, Avalon, Aaron Jeoffrey, and Fernando Ortega. She was featured in the Young Messiah tour and co-hosted with Steven Curtis Chapman. In the 2000s, she continues to tour but not as extensively. In 2011-2012, Twila participated in the Christian Classics tour with Steve Green, Wayne Watson, and Michael Card.

FROM AGES PAST to the present, men, like boys before them, have sought to become "King of the mountain," "lord of the hill." And it is in this simple metaphor that the ultimate meaning and direction of history and prophecy is made manifest, revealing the mystery of the world's rapidly-approaching and greatest battle for KING of the Mountain. HERE IS THE HINGE OF HISTORY. All other issues and pursuits that consume the passions and purposes of mankind ultimately turn on the eternal question: "who will be king of the mountain?" This is the ultimate question of history which the power brokers and peoples of this planet must answer, both for time and eternity. HISTORY'S FINAL BATTLE for KING of the Mountain will be a no-holds-barred, winner-take-all, global conflagration. It is, and always has been, and will be The Eternal, Epic, End-Time Battle for the Temple Mount and for the souls of men. Who, then, will be KING of the Mountain? Join this amazing journey from the Tower of Babel to the Temple Mount and from Creation to the Coming of Messiah. THE BOOK IS IN!
