Forgiveness, Love, and Mercy: The Way of Jesus 2025 02 23Scripture references: Psalm 37:1-11, 39-40, and Luke 6:27-38In Luke 6:27-38, Jesus gives us a really important message. He says we should love our enemies, be kind to people who hate us, and show mercy like God's mercy. This is different from what we usually think, and it inspires us to be really loving, forgiving, and generous. This is what it means to be a disciple of Jesus. It challenges us to show His love and mercy in a world that often responds with hate and anger.“LOVE THE LORD” -- CCLI Song # 4572938 | Lincoln Brewster | © 2005 Integrity's Praise! Scripture references: Matthew 22:34-40 and Matthew 7:12 Jesus names us many times in scripture as neighbors” to one another. We have been depending on his vision for the neighbor-liness of humanity as we navigate our own search for good news.” Together, we will continue to find ways to tell deeply good news for all people by filtering our interactions through the lens of love. Today's scripture reminds us that interpretation of the law has always been difficult for humanity. We have never been of one mind. But as we have heard in this series, what we put into the world is part of the ongoing creation of the world. Is it possible to put love out there as always the first impulse for interpretation? “LOVE THE LORD” -- CCLI Song # 4572938  |  Lincoln Brewster  |  © 2005 Integrity's Praise! Church on the Rockers, Somewhere in the neighborhood of 30 years ago, I went with several of my family members and some friends to the Araneta Colosseum in Cubao, the transportation center of the metroplex that is Manila in the Philippines. We were there with tickets to see Michael W. Smith and Amy Grant live at the Colosseum. It was amazing. I don't actually remember the size of the Araneta Colosseum, but it seemed like a billion Filipinos were there to rock out with two of Contemporary Christian Music's pioneers. Many years later, I brought my oldest child along to relive that experience. Or the closest thing to it; Lincoln Brewster in the Mariner Theater in Homer, Alaska. It was awesome. And VERY loud. Which is what I was hoping for. By the end of the first song, my child was covering her ears. Halfway through the second song, she was over it. Apparently, she is not as enthusiastic about skull crushing bass as I am. This Sunday we are going to talk about music at Church on the Rock Homer. Why do we do corporate worship the way we do it? Why the drums? Why the volume? How do we pick songs? Is there a right and wrong way to worship together as a church? Our elders and staff have contributed significantly to this discussion and I am very excited to bring the results of those discussions to you. It's gonna be a rockin' good time! Pastor Aaron Weisser

Grief 2 Great Day - Christian Grief Support for Women, Questioning God in Grief, Life after Loss, Hope in Grief

How many times do we get stuck (or thrown in the pit) when we are grieving?  The number for me was too many to keep up with.  Sometimes being stuck was my excuse to do nothing and then getting out of it was hard.  The times I took action, the times I pushed beyond my emotions, they were the times I was less stuck, and the pit was less deep.    There will be times, that you don't care about healing, you don't care about anything else that's going on because you just can't act…that's normal.  But there are, if we are honest, there are many more times that we don't act because ‘it's too hard.'  God has given you the power to act when it's too hard, but we don't always allow Him to take over.   In this episode, I talk about getting stuck in grief and 3 ways or tips to help you while you are there and, more importantly to help you not stay there.  You are a warrior; you are a conqueror!  Let's get started.   WORD of the Week      When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you.  When you walk through the fire you will not be burned, the flames will not set you ablaze.  Isaiah 43:2 God is with you as you take these actions – you don't have to do it alone.    Song of the Week   While I Wait by Lincoln Brewster https://youtu.be/uvSD57FJKLc   Connect with Me Learn More -  “What to Do After the Loss of a Loved One” Workshop Schedule Individual Online Grief Coaching Join The Grief Group for Christian Women on Facebook Book - Dying to Be Healed - Book - Grief2GreatDay Visit my Church –Opendoor Church | Home GriefShare - Grief Recovery Support Groups - GriefShare

Steve Padilla is the latest addition to the staff at Heart of the Springs. He is married to multi-talented Sandi, who helps co-lead on Sundays, and they have two college-aged children (Paul and Anna) who live back in their hometown of Sacramento, CA. A recent transplant to Colorado Springs, Steve and Sandi enjoy exploring their new hometown. Steve started out with a career as a recording engineer eventually ending up working for Ann and Nancy Wilson of the rock group Heart at their recording studio in Seattle, WA.  It was here that Steve received the call to become a worship leader.  Leaving the music industry behind he pursued God’s calling on his life which would lead to working as a Worship Pastor and Music Director for Bayside Church in Roseville, CA and touring with CCM artist Lincoln Brewster for 7 years.  Yet God would call him out of that world to focus on spiritual health and recovery. Today Steve and Sandi write music and record in their home studio and enjoy ministering to the local body of Christ through retreats, Celebrate Recovery, and Heart of the Springs! Steve has been a worship leader, clinician, speaker, teacher, and multi-instrumentalist for 20 years. He is credited with playing keyboards on four of Lincoln Brewster’s CDs.  He has also played keyboards with artist Paul Baloche, Darlene Zschech, Chris Tomlin, Matt Redmond, Kari Jobe, Glenn Packiam, and Sarah Kelly.

More Than a Song - Discovering the Truth of Scripture Hidden in Today's Popular Christian Music

"That's the way we've always done it" has often caused the hair on the back of my neck to stand up. Not that tradition is bad, but understanding WHY we do things should be our motivating factor, not custom. I pray in Jesus' name, but there is a Scriptural reason why. Lincoln Brewster's song "There Is Power" reminds us of the power found in the name of Jesus. Explore God's Word with me as we discover the power truly found in Jesus' name. On this episode I discuss: Taking a B.I.T.E. out of Scripture - this week's Bible Interaction Tool Exercises include: Explore a topic Reading in context Use section headings Ask questions Pray! Great things are accomplished in the name of Jesus The demons were powerless because of His name - Luke 10:17 Healing occurred in the name of Jesus - Acts 3:7-18, Acts 3:16 Salvation comes through the name of Jesus - Romans 10:13 Jesus instructs us to baptize in His name - Matthew 28:19 We are justified in His name - 1 Corinthians 6:11 We are supposed to do and say everything in the name of Jesus - Colossians 3:17 Sometimes we do things because "that's the way we've always done it" We are to pray in the name of Jesus - John 14:13-14, John 16:16-24 So, we can ask for ANYTHING? How Jesus puts prayer in a distinctly God-centered context What glorifies God? Evidence of fruit-bearing in our lives - John 15:7-8 Our joy is another result of our God-centered prayers lifted in Jesus' name - John 16:23-24     Additional Resources Story Behind the Song "There Is Power" by Lincoln Brewster - YouTube Video Lyrics This Week's Challenge Read John 14-16 and consider the verses specifically speaking of asking for things in Jesus’ name…also known as praying! There is one more BITE I want to mention, and that is to PRAY! We have spoken a bit about prayer on this episode, but it would be a shame to add to our knowledge, but never put it to use. I don’t know about you, but I could benefit from praying more and more effectively.

TheBLAST Podcast is back with a special episode about the importance of caring for our new believers. In segment one Pastor Dragoon and Dave welcome Cadence O'Neal, our church's most recent new believer, to TheBLAST audience. We share the absolute necessity of seeing new believers come into our church. Just like in every good family, the most important members are the youngest among us. They breathe new life into our congregations, giving us the wonderful opportunity for ministry, mentoring and discipleship. We compare the similarities of natural birth and supernatural birth, drawing inspiration from the story of the newly converted Saul on the road to Damascus from Acts 9:1-20. We are reminded about God's concern for the little ones, those that cannot defend themselves... Luke 17:2- 2 "It would be better for him if a millstone were hung around his neck, and he were thrown into the sea, than that he should offend one of these little ones." We also make a few points about the demonic strategy of "Attack Early and Often". The enemy always makes a point to come against the righteous while they are still in their weakest moments early in life. Consider his targets: Satan didn't wait to tempt humanity until many generations had come and passed. He attacked, strategized and engaged the human race very early on in our history.. Third chapter of the bible! The demonic inspired Pharaoh of Egypt issued a decree to have all male children under the age of two to be destroyed. Hell desired to kill Moses before he could ever rise up to lead God's people out of bondage and into the promised land. King Herod attempted the same thing after Christ was born: "Then Herod, when he saw that he was deceived by the wise men, was exceedingly angry; and he sent forth and put to death all the male children who were in Bethlehem and in all its districts, from two years old and under, according to the time which he had determined from the wise men." (Matthew 2:16). Hell was attempting to snuff out the Christ-child in his infancy. The great temptation of Christ occurred early in his ministry, still in the infant stage. "When He had been baptized, Jesus came up immediately from the water; and behold, the heavens were opened to Him, and He saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting upon Him. And suddenly a voice came from heaven, saying, 'This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.'” (Matthew 3:16, 17 NKJV) In the first break we hear a recent release from Lincoln Brewster called "There is Power". Segment Two We have the great honor and privilege of being the first to hear Cadence's amazing testimony and how God brought him to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. We hope that this faith journey inspires you. He shares with us some early spiritual battles that have been happening in his life. We also get some much needed perspective on the church and how new believers perceive those that are already here. VERY ENCOURAGING! During our second break we are very pleased to present the early release of the title track from Phil Wickham's upcoming album, "Your Love Awakens Me". I have been a big fan of his music and cannot wait for this to come out so I can hear what other treasures are contained! Segment Three We close this episode by sharing some "If I was in your shoes" advice with Cadence. These are the types of things we all need to hear early (and later on) in our salvation. Let us all be reminded of the great need for believers to develop the habits of prayer, bible study, evangelism, church attendance and fellowship. Thanks again for investing your most precious commodity into our show, your time! We invite you to leave us a voicemail, send us an email, review us on iTunes, and connect with us on Twitter or Instagram. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app

Romans 8:5-15 Have you ever wanted to do great? I mean really succeed. With all your might you wanted to make the team, give the speech, sell the product, win the girl, score the winning point, finish on top, win the prize, etc. etc. etc. but instead of winning you failed. Have you ever blown it? Have you ever experienced the agony of defeat? What causes us to fail? How do we overcome a life altering failure? How does our mentality, locality, and the reality of God's Spirit give us freedom from failure? This weekend we take in-depth and practical look at Rom. 8:5-15 where Paul compares and contrasts the failure that comes from doing life without the Spirit of God as opposed to the liberty and joy that comes from setting our minds on God's Spirit.
