For us to “read the vision, readily” there are faulty histories, old misconceptions, one-sided points of view in our way. These are the “non-essential” and “potentially lethal” items for us to discard. " Barbara W. A natural leader who is a compelling communicator, Dr. David Harris has over twenty-five years of ministry experience as a pastor, church planter, evangelist, church consultant, and conference speaker. A native of Chillicothe, OH, he has served as an adjunct college professor and has pastored churches in Charlotte, Los Angeles, Atlanta, Sacramento. At this time David is completing drafts of two books for publication, Pursuing Intimacy With God and Communicating With Excellence. A highly engaging and gifted communicator, David is a regular speaker at conferences, seminars, and churches. His education is extensive and includes a BA in Christian Ministry, MA in Church Management, and DMin in Preaching & Communication Dynamics. David and his wife, Tami, live in Scottsdale with their two disobedient dogs and two cats. Live and Let Live is the world's only real peace movement. The Movement is organized around a fundamental principle we call the Live and Let Live Principle. As greater numbers of people truly accept the Live and Let Live Principle, we will necessarily evolve towards a world predominated by both freedom and peace. The Live and Let Live Principle essentially holds that aggression is wrong. There is simply no way to achieve a free or peaceful world so long as the law permits people, groups, or governments to aggress against others. With aggression outlawed, competent adults would be entitled to both define and peacefully pursue their happiness. Competent adults should be in charge of their own lives, property, money, and time. They have the right to be left alone or to peacefully and fairly contract with other competent adults regarding their property. A free society requires the proper balance between the rights of one person to do whatever they want with their property with the equally important rights of others not to be disturbed in their affairs by the activities of others. This is the essence of freedom. People adhering to the Live and Let Live Principle agree that the initiation of force, fraud, or coercion is wrong in all cases. It remains wrong even if the initiation of force, fraud, or coercion is employed to accomplish desirable moral goals. It is not possible to aggress our way to a peaceful society. It isn't only the actual initiation of either force, fraud, or coercion that violates the rights of others. The substantial threat of such an initiation also violates another's rights. It is for this same reason that we recognize a justified act of self-defense even before an actual use of unjustified force. That we don't always agree on exactly which particular circumstances allow a justified act of self-defense doesn't mean we fail to recognize the principle that one need not wait until another's fist hits their face before such person can legally and properly act to prevent the aggression. Every battle is fought between at least two opposing sides. It doesn't matter if it is red versus blue, the Jedi versus the Sith, or orcs versus elves, our eyes can often identify who the enemy is in that feud. But when it comes to the battles we are personally called to fight, do we know who our enemy is? In our efforts to live out our mission we are often tempted to see those around us as a threat. We think knowing our enemy will be clear, but instead only confusion ensues. Those who are unfamiliar with us or disagree with us, become dehumanized in our eyes. Not seeing them at our church, at our kid's games at the park, and at the grocery store, creates a distance which makes it easy to objectify that other person and villainize them. In today's episode, we sit down with Dr. Pia de Solenni to talk about the model for battle. Pia is a theologian who is currently president and executive director of the Global Institute of Church Management. In our conversation, she shares her insights about how we find our mission, identify and fight the RIGHT enemy, and not let our personal lives crumble in the process. Pia suggests the answer in a simple word: encounter. Enter into the lives of others. It is precisely by entering into their lives and encountering them exactly where they are that we initiate healing and conversion of life. Only then can we be free to band against the common enemy and pave a way for conquests against the true monsters of our lives. Tune in to hear the full episode!
