On today's Friday edition, we chat with Grace Graber! In many ways, Grace Graber is the voice of a rising movement full of people who believe that maybe both faith and mental health matter — in fact, maybe they're inextricably intertwined.   With a pop-punk sound in the playful yet heartfelt tradition of Avril Lavigne, Grace's musical message runs in tandem with her viral social media presence. Her candid conversations about mental health, music, and her faith resonate with followers who immediately feel a kinship with her genuine heart. Part of that authenticity stems from the fact that Grace Graber has lived a journey very similar to her listeners.   “This ministry, the rest of my music, none of this is about me,” Grace is quick to say. “It's about what God wants to do in His people, specifically through mental health. That's an epidemic right now. We need to be talking about it more. I'm not doing music for me, to get on radio, to get signed. I'm doing music to save lives.”   Not too long ago, Grace Graber was a suicidal teenager struggling with PTSD from severe bullying. Music gave her the ability to survive— specifically, a Hawk Nelson song that met her where she was. In a glorious full-circle moment, Hawk Nelson's founding vocalist Jason Dunn would later feature on Grace's song “This One's For You,” a track from the Conversations EP that was written for anyone in a place like the one she walked through.   “I feel like God opened more doors to healing,” Grace reflects. “It was like opening up a wound and forcing myself to feel some trauma that I didn't realize I could still feel. Now that I have a therapist and a team, now that I've done this collaboration and I'm in a healthy place, I'm able to find resolution to it all for my teenage self, who is content and happy and feels valued.”   Songs like “The Light” and “Do It For Me” speak to some of that possibility of healing, with Grace being fixed on the core message: “if God can do it for me, He can do it for anybody.”   Her latest single, 'Superficiality' is out now! gracegraber.com @gracegrabermusic christianmusicguys.com @christianmusicguys --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/christianmusicguys/message

There's more to IKEA than meets the eye. They've found a way to create a product that appeals simultaneously to different markets. And I'm not talking about the geographical markets. That bit is relatively easy. The one product is equally appealing to Do-It-Yourself market AND the Do-It-For-Me market. And I swear they've made the build of their products just a little bit more complicated than it has to be. Again, to make it just that little bit more appealing to these very distinct user markets. Genius I reckon! #ikea #marketing #productdesign

Welcome to the 2019 NEXT Conference Series. Recorded live in Chicago, this series is bringing interviews straight to you from exhibitors and speakers at this year’s event. In this interview, host Jamin Brazil interviews John Tansey, director of business development at Dapresy. Find John Online: LinkedIn Website: https://www.dapresy.com [00:02] My guest today is John Tansey with Dapresy.  I still can’t say the name. [00:08]     Dapresy, Data Presentation Systems. [00:12] Dapresy.  I don’t know.  Anyway, I apologize.   [00:15] That’s OK. [00:16] Rudy has been on the show before.  I’ve been a big fan of your guys’ brand.  What is going on right now in the world of Dapresy? [00:23]    I’m still trying to figure this out because this is my second week on the job.   [00:27] Welcome. [00:28]       Thank you very much.  It’s exciting and, overall, joining, it’s clear to me they’re experiencing a lot of growth.  There’s a lot of hiring. We’re opening up a new office in Sarajevo. [00:38] Congratulations.  That’s huge. [00:40] A lot of it is sales and marketing.  And then we’re trying to figure out who’s going to do the work that we’re selling to.  So, there’s positions open for that as well.   [00:48]  How exciting.  I mean you guys offer industry-leading, customized data dashboards that pull data in.  I always thought of it as quite literally as a BI for insights. Is business evolved into a different direction or is that still the core competency?     [01:07] It’s still the core.  And the target has always been mid to large market research companies as well as enterprise but we now have a Do-It-Yourself option coming out, which is a much lower entry point in terms of cost.  So we’re going back to many of the people who maybe have been turned off in the past with this new offering going forward.   [01:25] So that is going to unlock a whole different set of customers, it sounds like. [01:31] Sure. [01:31]   What do they look like?  What are the personas? Do you know? [01:35]  Users of?  These are people who respond...  Well, the short answer is, “No, I don’t know.  I’m trying to figure this out.”   [01:42] I love it. [01:44]   You have owners buying it.  You know from smaller market research companies and analysts using it.   [01:51] You think about like enterprise research or enterprise solutions used to be sold at an executive level.  These are like big bundled products, expensive, difficult to deploy. And now, like in modern context, it feels to me that any business that’s here as a technology-based business that doesn’t have a premium DIY (I don’t need to talk to anybody) offering in the next three years is going to have a big problem with growth.  You have to operate at that level. One of the things, I think, that SurveyMonkey has done a great job of over its whatever 15 years is exactly operating in that space. Like it fits like a CRM or SalesForce or MailChimp. I feels like a tool that I can just plug into my platform so that I can easily get to things. But, on the other side of it, I really believe you have to have the Do-It-For-Me option as well because, especially in insights, things can get complex; people can get busy.  And we’re happy to write checks to solve those problems.       [02:52] Sure, I think that works well for enterprise and people who, unlike you and I, did not grow up in this industry and did not work as a research analyst and kind of just need a reporting solution and somebody to do it for them.      [03:05]    Totally. [03:06] And the thing I love about the product is it’s designed for market researchers.  You mentioned Business Intelligence tools. You wrestle when you try and squeeze market research projects into those tools, but this is designed for people like us. [03:20]  Exactly, exactly.  All right, great.

He’s spent the past few years creating Towson-Glen Arm Freakouts, an in-depth archive of the early 90’s music and arts scene in north Baltimore County. He currently contributes to Splice Today. (Who also host this podcast) I’ve been a fan of his music since 1996, and I was (very briefly) a member of Human Host. In this episode, we talk about his earliest touring experiences with The Superstation, and about the ideas that led to him forming Human Host. We talk about the endless grind of booking tours, and his desire to leave the D.I.Y. scene and enter the D.I.F.M. (Do It For Me) scene. He ends the episode by reading some of Human Host’s written work. Mike Riley’s art this week is an homage to Trick Daddy’s www.thug.com. This episode is hosted by splicetoday.com.

http://www.tropicalmba.com/swas/ I recently came across an article on TechCrunch that caught my attention, all about the rise of "Do-It-For-Me" businesses. Big businesses have been doing "Do-It-For-Me" for decades, but small businesses remain a relatively unconquered frontier. This is essentially about selling time to entrepreneurs, and I don't know anyone who does that better than Mat Newton from The Web Agency Podcast. He recently started what he calls a SWaS, or "Software With a Service" business called Tourism Tiger.
