In this episode, Jason explores real estate trends in Warsaw, Poland, highlighting rising property prices and rents due to factors like the Ukraine invasion. He discusses global housing shortages and critiques U.S. policies, such as affordable housing initiatives and immigration impacts, which exacerbates demand and push prices higher. Jason emphasizes the importance of self-managing investments, advocating for direct control to avoid risks associated with third-party managers. With lower interest rates and ongoing market pressures, he congratulates proactive investors for seizing opportunities and positioning themselves to profit as the market continues to evolve. In today's final section of Jason's Empowered Investor Zoom meeting, they cover vital topics on financial well-being and leveraging assets. Jason clarified the difference between warranties and construction defects, emphasizing that issues like improper land leveling fall under construction defects, often with a ten-year liability, not a short-term warranty. The discussion then shifted to life planning, drawing from the book Die With Zero. Jason highlighted the importance of "memory dividends," where experiences enrich our lives through lasting memories, encouraging attendees to balance saving with enjoying the present. He stressed the power of leveraging real estate, describing it as a "perpetual motion machine" for income generation, which offers long-term financial security. Jason also touched on the need to plan for increased longevity, as advances in health science may extend both lifespan and healthspan, altering financial needs. His key takeaway: work hard, play hard, and ensure your money enhances your life meaningfully. #EmpoweredInvestor #FinancialPlanning #RealEstateInvesting #LeverageAssets #MemoryDividends #LongevityPlanning #WorkHardPlayHard #DieWithZero #WealthManagement #ConstructionDefects Key Takeaways: Jason's editorial 1:34 The Poland and US housing market 3:12 A funny proposal to provide more housing 5:59 Illegal immigration and the effects on housing 9:31 Commandment #3 Self-Management Empowered Investor Pro meeting part 4 10:50 Warranty or Construction Defect 14:11 Die with Zero 20:10 Trading these 3 components 27:05 Perpetual Motion Machine Follow Jason on TWITTER, INSTAGRAM & LINKEDIN Twitter.com/JasonHartmanROI Instagram.com/jasonhartman1/ Linkedin.com/in/jasonhartmaninvestor/ Call our Investment Counselors at: 1-800-HARTMAN (US) or visit: https://www.jasonhartman.com/ Free Class: Easily get up to $250,000 in funding for real estate, business or anything else: http://JasonHartman.com/Fund CYA Protect Your Assets, Save Taxes & Estate Planning: http://JasonHartman.com/Protect Get wholesale real estate deals for investment or build a great business – Free Course: https://www.jasonhartman.com/deals Special Offer from Ron LeGrand: https://JasonHartman.com/Ron Free Mini-Book on Pandemic Investing: https://www.PandemicInvesting.com

Hola, bienvenidos, and welcome to another episode of the Latinx Identity Project. This is a podcast where we tell stories for us and by us. I am your host, Elsa Iris Reyes,Today's guest is Christopher David Rosales, a Chicano author and professor of Chicano & Latino Studies at California State University Long Beach. Join us as we dive into his latest novel, Word is Bone. Episodes like today's are a reminder for why this podcast exists - it's to uplift and promote our diverse perspectives and voices.Don't forget to rate, review, and subscribe to the show wherever you listen to podcasts. He is the author of three novels including Silence the Bird, Silence the Keeper (2015, Mixer Publishing) which won the Hispanic Scholarship Fund & McNamara Family Creative Arts Grant, Gods On the Lam (2017, Perpetual Motion Machine), and Word Is Bone (2019, Broken River Books), winner of the International Latino Book Award. His award-winning short stories have appeared in Both Sides: An Anthology of Border Noir (2020, Polis/Agora Books), among other anthologies, journals, and magazines in the U.S. and abroad.Rosales is a Professor in Chicano & Latino Studies at California State University Long Beach.WORD IS BONEWinner of the International Latino Book Award.1999. Ex-con June returns to Los Angeles to bury his father, and in the process brings violence and mayhem to everyone he encounters. Low-rent gangsters fight dogs and pistols shoot quiet through potato silencers, and at the center of this sweltering California Gothic and its surreal and colorful cast of characters is the love story of Kiddy and June, two wild young people separated by circumstance and time, trying not to love each other against their better instincts.“Christopher Rosales' writing in Word is Bone is so vibrant and dirty with street-level intimacy like a lot of hip-hop: think Kendrick Lamar's “Money Trees” and Domino's “Getto Jam.” These are stories from the stoops, laundromats, canals and alleyways, that show how a community weaves narrative webs to understand their own truths. So, here we go, here we go as the tune starts to bloom.” —Steven Dunn, author of Potted Meat and water & powerOfficial Website: https://www.christopherrosales.com/Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/christopher.d.rosales Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/chrisdrosales/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/CDRosales Support the show

Mel talks with Carlo and Darrell about their excitement for Brooklyn Drum Collective's Live Album release and missing live music desperately. The Brooklyn Drum Collective (BDC) is a Brooklyn-based network of musicians working together to perform, teach, and build a stronger community. Carlo Minchillo is the Director of the BDC and Drummer for The Planes and Glass Slipper. Darrell Dumas is the guitarist for The Bizarre Sharks, one of four bands featured on the live album, and The Royal They. Mel is, you know, Mel and at the beginning of the conversation she says that Carlo can be found on the episode “Carlo is a Perpetual Motion Machine” but it's actually called “Carlo Uses Positive Energy & Commitment to Become a Perpetual Motion Machine.” She also says The Royal They's song "Full Metal Black" is her go-to song when she needs to get some frustration out so feel free to take a listen and see if it could be yours. For more about the album: Brooklyn Drum Collective Presents... Live at Our Wicked Lady is in celebration of the Brooklyn Drum Collective's Two Year Anniversary and will be released October 16, 2020 but you can preorder now on Bandcamp. Around 1159 AD, Bhaskara The Learned sketched the earliest known design for a Perpetual Motion Machine. He probably had not been the first and he certainly wasn’t the last great mind to attempt to create a contraption that could do work indefinitely. Among the other failed attempts were those of Leonardo Da Vinci and our very own Robert Boyle. So, why didn’t it work and who can we blame for our inability to create free energy? Jennifer Vail is a Tribologist with Dupont who joined Jonathan McCrea to explain everything about "tribology".

This week, we're excited to welcome Max Booth III and Lori Michelle of Perpetual Motion Machine Publishing to the show! Max and Lori are almost superhuman in the amount of projects they take on in indie publishing from running Perpetual Motion Machine Publishing and their fiction magazine Dark Moon Digest to doing their own writing, podcasting, formatting books, and so much more. It was a lot of fun to hang out with them and talk about their various projects and some of the behind the scenes editorial stuff at Perpetual Motion Machine. Max and Lori have consistently put out some of the best and most original dark fiction in the genre today and if you haven't picked up one of their books yet, well, what are you waiting for? During the course of the episode, we discuss Hannibal, Lori's background in publishing, their editorial process together at PMMP, Lost Contacts, how they acquire books, Paul Michael Anderson's Standalone, the inspiration for We Need To Do Something, Night Frights, upcoming projects, Max breaks down ejaculation terms, interviewing Joe Lansdale, favorite podcasts and so much more.
This week, Adrian dives into the amazing story of Ireland's most fantastically controversial startup of the last 20 years: Steorn. The company raised €20m on the premise of having invented a perpetual motion machine using magnets. The startup claimed to have uncovered an “anomaly” in the laws of physics that would allow for never-ending power. From a full page ad in the Economist boasting of their breakthrough to a dramatic demonstration fiasco in London, the story of Steorn is a mixture of ambition, delusion and hubris. To explain the ins and outs of the story to Adrian is Barry Whyte, chief feature writer for the Business Post. Barry's newly-published book, ‘The Impossible Dream', recounts in great detail the entire Steorn story, painting a brilliant picture of the characters involved, the key moments and the ultimate outcomes.
This Is Bizzong! welcomes host of This is Horror, Michael David Wilson to discuss his deut novella from Perpetual Motion Machine, The Girl in the Video. A perpetual motion machine is a machine that, once it’s started, won’t stop and doesn’t need any additional energy to keep going. That means the machine could be used as a source of unlimited free energy. Which is great, so why don’t we just make one? Well, it isn’t because of some conspiracy theory by the energy sector. The reason none have ever been built is because they’re actually impossible to build since perpetual motion breaks the first two laws of thermodynamics. The first law is that energy is constant; it cannot be created or destroyed. The second is that entropy will either increase or remain the same. Essentially, you can never get a greater output of energy than inputted and energy will always decrease over time.
When my brother was in high school he attempted to build a perpetual motion machine to save the world. That machine was my brother's experiment; this book is mine. It is in the text where I dissect our relationship and try to understand myself. In undertaking this project, I had to research, which meant looking at photo albums, interviewing my brother and parents, asking friends and family what I was like when I was little, etc. Like my brother once said after reading my work, "We color these memories differently," I knew that in order to methodically calculate the moments I had to meticulously plot out what it was I was trying to say. In this way, the collection is like a science project. This book is how I will try to save my brother, or more largely how I will attempt to save the world by making people understand the pain we've all been through, the visceral pain that accompanies longing for some past impossibility. My preparation has been "in the field" and living through it, gathering notes, experiences, and findings; it has all been one giant experiment--to see if we could make it out alive. Ackerman is in conversation with Davy Rothbart, a bestselling author, Emmy Award-winning filmmaker, creator of Found Magazine, and contributor to public radio's This American Life.

Perpetual motion—it's fun to say that. For some people, perpetual motion machines hold the secret to everlasting free energy that will save the world. To them, it's a machine that is just beyond our grasp. If only we could tweak our design just a little bit, it would work. To others (like me), perpetual motion machines are impossible—they don't fit with our well-tested ideas of the conservation of energy. However, they can still make a fun puzzle, as you see above.
This coffee break explores the later works of Philip Glass. We listen to his 2nd Symphony and analyze the layered aspects of his composition, where he relies less on minimalism than broader sounds, using multiple keys. In many cases, his music seems "unresolved," as if it's a perpetual motion machine. Does Glass create a "sonic environment" that a listener can dip in and out off, rather than a presentation piece? Mr. Glass, just what are your intentions? contact the show at yccb@mauriceriverpress.com

On yet another brilliant episode of Arm Cast: Dead Sexy Podcast, host Armand Rosamilia is joined by two great guests for the price of one. Max Booth III is the editor-in-chief of Perpetual Motion Machine, the managing editor of Dark Moon Digest, and a columnist for LitReactor. He hosts the podcasts Castle Rock Radio and The Taco Summit. He’s the author of several novels, the latest being THE NIGHTLY DISEASE. Lori Michelle is the brains behind all of the above. Seriously. Without her Max is asking if you'd like fries with that. Chapter 95: "Death By A Thousand Cuts" ...as read by Andrew Elstner (Recorded on Saturday Feb 4th, 2017) We finally get a little bit serious with triple-timer Andrew Elstner. We have some serious topics to discuss. Andrew has since been dismissed from his role as the guitarist in Torche. Elstner tells for the first time what happened, sort of. We also talk about the passing of his amazing TILTS drummer and long time friend Ken McCray. Cancer sucks. Andrew connects some dots with TILTS members with some local St Louis bands and gives us a little insight to some great bands we don't know about (Prepare the google.) Not really anything to link for this one, but check out TILTS!!! https://tilts.bandcamp.com/music Chapter 95 is dedicated in the memory of Ken McCray. Thanks for the music, sir.
