This week, we go deep! Leanne sits down with one of her favourite authors and former professor, Kiese Laymon to talk about one of his most recent publications, Heavy. Through the lens of his memoir, Kiese and Leanne share their thoughts on the continuous journey of restoration and healing, the intertwining of forgiveness, love and accountability, and the unrealistic standards that are imposed on us and we impose on ourselves. Get a copy of Heavy ASAP: https://www.amazon.com/Heavy-American-Memoir-Kiese-Laymon/dp/1501125656 Winner of the Carnegie Medal for Nonfiction, LA Times Isherwood Prize for Autobiographical Prose, Barnes and Noble Discover Award, and Audible's Audiobook of the Year, HEAVY was also named one of the Best Books of 2018 by the The New York Times, Publishers Weekly, NPR, Broadly, Library Journal , The Washington Post , Southern Living , Entertainment Weekly, San Francisco Chronicle and The New York Times Critics. A personal narrative that illuminates national failures, Heavy is defiant yet vulnerable, an insightful, often comical exploration of weight, identity, art, friendship, and family that begins with a confusing childhood—and continues through twenty-five years of haunting implosions and long reverberations. Have you ever had sex in your car? In the sea? Or even at work? We all have crazy sex stories, ex's that we would rather forget, some that we will never forget and the ladies bare all in this week's episode. They talk about what sex means to them, their non-negotiables, and why so many women don't orgasm! It's important to normalise the topic of sex, especially with black women, so we are bringing together three professional women who are here to discuss sex openly and freely. From being a freak in the sheets to being spiritual and reading books - we can do it all!  The Dope Black Women Podcast is all about bringing black women together to discuss the topics that matter to us, connect and support with each other and through our digital sisterhood.  Your hosts are: Leanne Levers, Roshan Roberts and Olivia Cope  You can follow Dope Black Women online at @DopeBlackWomen1 on Twitter and Instagram and Dope Black Women on Facebook
