According to a new study Consumer Reports study, many of the chocolate brands that Americans buy from the supermarket contain high levels of toxic metals—including things like cadmium and lead. These researchers were looking into some of the most popular brands, the ones that are very likely in your cupboard right now: things like Hershey's, Dove Chocolate, Trader Joe's, and so on. The researchers here were looking specifically at dark chocolate, which is a little bit ironic considering many people choose dark chocolate over alternatives like milk chocolate because of the supposed health benefits: including anti-oxidants and the fact that dark chocolate has less sugar. However, for many years now, the chocolate industry has been grappling with a certain problem—that heavy metals are difficult to remove during the production process, and secondly, metals like lead are introduced into the food during manufacturing. ⭕️ Sign up for our NEWSLETTER and stay in touch

Why does Rihanna have 52 trademarks? Because there are 45 different classes of trademarks under trademark law, it’s important to understand how your products are categorized within each class. In this episode of Marks of a Mogul, Rosezena describes the various classes of trademarks and how different products can fall into different classes even if they’re from the same brand.    While trademarks are often misunderstood to cover a brand’s entire product line, some industries contain multiple trademark classes and require brand owners to file for trademarks in each class individually to secure rights to their brand. Trademark classes exist so different brands can use the same name for different products, like Pandora jewelry and the music streaming service, Pandora. Even though Dove owns both Dove Chocolate and Dove Soap, it had to file for trademarks in each class individually to use the same name. What happens if you don’t file for a trademark in the right class? If you don’t file for a trademark for each class that applies to your brand, another company can use your brand’s name to market products within that particular class. To avoid missing out on owning your brand’s name in multiple classes of product, listen to Rosezena explain how to secure your brand within the 45 classes of trademark law in this episode of Marks of a Mogul.    (01:25) – Why does Rihanna have so many trademarks? (02:00) – The 45 classes of trademarks under trademark law  (04:17) – What parts of your brand should be trademarked? (05:34) – What if my brand isn’t trademarked in a specific class? When it comes to legal budgets, this is truly a David and Goliath story. Multinational Adhesive Corporation vs Internationally Acclaimed Cannabis Genetic Company.   Let’s start with the basics: Gorilla Glue Adhesive Corporation is suing GG Strains, the creators of Gorilla Glue #4, #5 and #1, in Federal Court in Cincinnati Ohio for Dilution, Trademark infringement, Cyber Squatting and 2 other counts of trademark infringement. To be honest, I wasn’t very surprised to hear of such a lawsuit. On the face of it, why would someone name their strain after a federally trademarked product? I WAS surprised to learn that it is by no means unheard of. For instance, Dove Chocolate and Dove Soap, or Delta Airlines and Delta Faucets. They coexist, because they are not competing in the same industry. What makes this instance any different?
