Mikä on sinun suosikki Jon Favreau leffa?
The dumbest name for the most mediocre movie. Also a really great cast some of whom probably didn't want to be there. Eavesdroppin' hosts Geordie & Michelle conclude part two of the aliens double-whammy with a mini-dive into the Peruvian alien corpses that were recently found, along with mutilated livestock conspiracies… When two alien corpses in tiny caskets were presented to the Mexican Congress, the world was quick to call BS. Are the bodies really 30% non-human? Were they actually found in algae mines? Are they pieced-together human mummies? Or are they just cake? Take a listen! Geordie then talks about a spate of cow mutilations that occurred in East Texas in early 2023 and why they're so peculiar. No scuffle marks! Clean-cut incisions! No traces of blood! Weird lights in the sky! She then joins the dots between historical cow mutilations across the world, from America to Australia, and asks, could it be aliens? Or something closer to home? Plus the story of the Kelly Hopkinsville Aliens Encounter – hoax or real? You decide! So pop on your headphones, grab a brown lemonade and join Geordie & Michelle for all this, plus chitchat about Adam Buxton's podcast, exoplanets, aliens and more, only on Eavesdroppin' podcast. Not so urgent care. A day of comedy/cultural Marxist indoctrination in Los Angeles. How did Cowboys & Aliens flop so spectacularly, and why is there a ginger in the Mexican gang from Colors? Car compliments, and the Bureau takes my Kroger French salad dressing. That poor 18yr old bastard who drowned (or got eaten by sharks) in the Caribbean. Science Fiction often stretches itself to capture a wide range of possibility. Truly a genre that can mold itself to please any number of fans. So why would some sci-fi titles perform well while others fail? That's a question we're hoping to answer looking at Doctor Who and Firefly. Doctor Who (02:15) - This show really puts the fiction in science fiction. A Time Machine shaped like a phone booth; A strange man from an unknown place; and teachers that stalk their students. Who wouldn't want to tune in to that? Firefly (36:59) - If anything, space should be more like a western. With a vast expanse of lawless lands and criminals, what else would come of it but outlaws and watering holes? Unfortunately, that didn't quite work out for the creators of Firefly only lasting a single season. Instagram: @BackToThePilot E-Mail: BackToThePilot@gmail.com Music: https://www.epidemicsound.com

Combining two different beloved genres sounds like gold right? Unfortunately 2011's sci-fi western big budget film missed the mark causing it to be the summer's box office bomb. Adapted from a comic book Director Jon Favreau and stars Daniel Craig and Harrison Ford did not have enough draw to bring in the movie fans. Is this movie worth watching again? Or is it rightly so to disappear into the past. Join Jeremy and guest TJ Tooley as they dive into 2011's misfire, Cowboys & Aliens.
We're probably a bit late to the party, but we just finished Netflix's "Squid Game", so we're talking about it. Also, early 2011 box office flop: "Cowboys & Aliens".
A Side (Adam): This week YouTube gives Adam a suggestion for a movie that sounds like it would be terrible but is it? B Side (Brooke): This week, a serial killer that ran through Wichita and could/should have been caught much sooner than he was, an ignored statement he made in court could have stopped him in tracks. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/aside-bside/support
We head back to the old west and straddle genres so much that no one's happy, as we watch one of the best examples of "great concept, terrible execution" with 2011's Cowboys & Aliens. Take director John Favreau hot off the Iron Man films, Daniel Craig hot off the Bond films and Harrison Ford hot off 3 decades of superstardom and put them in a sci fi western mash up — how can that lose? Sadly their combined efforts couldn't rustle up enough money in the summer of 2011 to be profitable…so what went wrong? Join Sebastian and Jennifer as they hit the dusty trail to determine why Cowboys & Aliens flopped. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app

Is this a match that feels wrong like pickles on a PB&J or does this film sing like pineapples on pizza? (Yeah, we said it, and if you would just open up your palate, you’d like it too!)

In the 1930s the world's best-known conservationist was an ex-trapper named Grey Owl who wrote and lectured ardently for the preservation of the Canadian wilderness. At his death, though, it was discovered that he wasn't who he'd claimed to be. In this week's episode of the Futility Closet podcast we'll tell the story of his curious history and complicated legacy. We'll also learn how your father can be your uncle and puzzle over a duplicate record. Intro: Dutch engineer Theo Jansen builds sculptures that walk. This week covers all things we associate with boyhood, wild west action, lasers, aliens, dangerous pranks toward the elderly, and a near complete lack of empathy. As we once again discuss Dennis the Menace(1993) and Cowboys & Aliens(2011) we'll get into the storied histories of both franchises, failed character arcs, gender dynamics, & toxic masculinity. Cowboys & Aliens avoids the seemingly obvious camp direction and takes a somewhat serious approach to the material. We break it down to discuss cultural representation, cinematic language and more. Our game? Cinematic Amnesiacs. Tune in now! Don't forget to rate and review on your podcatcher of choice.
Yep, this week for Issue 4 of our comics bracket, it's Annie (1982) vs. Cowboys & Aliens (2011). We'll get into the importance of developing your villains, narrative energy, and The American System. Also, Jackson has some complaints about the Magic System in Annie.
We're not sure about anything except we love Cowboys, Aliens and Ramen. INTRO: (00:00) Lulu thinks it's episode 41. It's not, this is episode 42. But ahhhh, what a great episode 41 was. You can watch it here. After a fun month in NYC with amazing meals and amazing guest googlers, we are settling back in to everyday life. Thankfully we found this upgrade from your basic Ramen noodles that helps us not miss the bougie kind as much.OBSESSIONS: (4:28) Alison is obsessed with this cartoon her friend Anthea created, Jimmy Dean Adventures. To no surprise, Lulu is obsessed with fall in New York. Your makeup doesn't melt, and you can wear layers!WISHLIST: (8:47) Alison is wanting a handheld spiralizer. Lulu wishes for shipments from Get Maine Lobster. Wait, unless they are live lobsters that show up at your door.ALISON’S 10K DAY - ST. PETERSBURG, RUSSIA: (12:34) Alison stays in the Royal Suite at Rocco Forte Astoria Hotel. A luxe day in Russia includes black car service and caviar at Astoria. She heads to Sandunovsky Banya, a luxurious bath house. Whoops! Alison mistakenly thinks this is in St. Petersburg, when it is actually in Moscow. Maybe we shouldn't have ditched our guest googlers just yet. For dinner she goes to Staraya Tamozhnya where they do molecular gastronomy. Also, Alison orders a $900 bottle of Sauternes Wine before taking in a performance of A Midsummer Night's Dream at the Mariinsky Theater.LULU’S 10K DAY - PIONEERTOWN, CA: (23:00) Lulu is staying at an eclectic villa in this hip desert community that was founded as a western movie set. A stop at C&S Coffee Shop then a walk down old-timey streets. Next is a sound bath at The Integraton, a resonant tabernacle located on a geomagnetic vortex in the desert. Alison interrupts to tell Lulu that her day sounds like a "cowboys & aliens" theme. Guess what, IT IS! Lulu's using Sixt to bring in friends from LA to be a part a Star Trek Flash Mob! And in true 10k style, she selected the upgrade to SiriusXM access. Lulu orders everyone Star Trek costumes. Time for a screening with the box sets of several series, projectors, and these inflatable movie screens. She caters dinner for everyone from Pappy & Harriet's. Lindelof Part 2: Cowboys & Aliens. Following the conclusion of his hit television series Lost in 2010, Damon Lindelof made the jump to the big screen in 2011 with Jon Favreau’s Cowboys & Aliens. The script, which was Lindelof’s first, was co-written with his Star Trek collaborators Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman. The film stars Daniel Craig as a wanted man in the old west who wakes up with an unusual piece of technology on his wrist, and no memory of who he is. Craig is forced to team up with a rancher, played by Harrison Ford, in order to fight an alien menace that has been abducting the town’s citizens. This week, Mike and Max are joined by John Mills of Words with Nerds to talk about Lindelof’s debut screenplay, and how it relates to his career on the whole. We discuss how Lindelof’s collaborations compare to his solo work, what makes Harrison Ford’s movies so special, why the film did not live up to expectations, who is to blame for the movie’s failure, where Lindelof’s touch is visible in the film, how Lindelof’s movie work differs from his television work, and whether or not it’s reasonable to be disappointed by a movie called Cowboys & Aliens.

With stars Daniel Craig and Harrison Ford, and directed by Jon Faverau, Arnie, Jakob, and Stuart were roped in to seeing Cowboys & Aliens this past weekend. A mash-up of western and sci-fi based on a comic series, this seemed to be one of the few films this summer that was not building on an existing franchise, but starting one new and fresh. But did this film rustle up a good review? Ride 'em cowboy to nowplayingpodcast.com to find out!
Listen to the fun. Still no theme song yet. It's early, get off my back.

Then the drama of WWII hits the world of dolls in my dvd review of Jackboots on Whitehall (courtesy of eOne Entertainment) as the war takes an unxoected turn starring the voices of Ewan MacGregor, Alan Cummings and Richard E. Grant. It's a world gone to the vamps with the blu-ray review of Stake Land (courtesy of eOne Entertainment) as a group of survivors try ot make thier way to New Eden. It's off to the cinema with Rob as we give our review of Cowboys & Aliens starring Harrison Ford and Daniel Craig where the wild west gets a science fiction spin. Jeff Bayer and a newly clean-shaven Eric D. Snider have much to discuss on this week’s edition of Movie B.S. with Bayer and Snider. First up is “Cowboys & Aliens,” which neither gentleman found particularly appealing, although neither of them hated it either. “Crazy Stupid Love,” on the other hand, is a funny and surprising ensemble comedy about love, and how it’s stupid and crazy. Jeff saw “Snow Flower and the Secret Fan” and says you shouldn’t. Nobody saw “The Smurfs,” so whatever. There was some good Question of the Week action regarding items that should be paired up in movies, and a fine edition of Pitch Me involving dames on a submarine. QOTW: In honor of next week’s “Rise of the Planet of the Apes,” what movie would you like to see a prequel to, and why?
In the 21st episode of Top 5 Film Trevor Schoenfeld and Jonathan Chang welcome guest Robert Fure a writer and Associate Editor for Film School Rejects to talk both the highs and lows of San Diego Comic Con in 2011 and "Captain America: The First Avenger." Jonathan and Trevor also give an in depth breakdown of Jon Favreau's latest effort "Cowboys & Aliens."
This week on Movie B.S. our film critics Jeff Bayer and Eric D. Snider review a superhero, an office mate and friends … with benefits. First up is “Captain America: The First Avenger” starring Chris Evans and Tommy Lee Jones. Eric was a bigger fan, but we both had a few issues for very different reasons. There’s also Justin Timberlake and Mila Kunis trying to have it all in “Friends with Benefits.” Both of us think it rises above the average romantic comedy. It’s very rated R. Jeff saw “A Little Help” so you don’t have to. Plus, we play Jeff’s interview with Chris Evans (“Captain America”) and also Eric’s column Snide Remarks. Want to see “Cowboys & Aliens” early? We’re giving away a pair of tickets for Tuesday night in Portland. Go to our Facebook page and tell us you want to go. QOTW: With “Cowboys & Aliens” coming out, what other two things should go together to become a movie?
Actor Brendan Wayne, grandson of the legendary John Wayne, talks about his upcoming film "Cowboys & Aliens" plus how his grandfather influenced his acting career. Brendan has appeared in such movies and TV shows as "Couples Retreat," "Fast and Furious," "Angel and The Bad Man," "CSI," and "The Closer." Based on the buzz surrounding the character Brendan plays in "Cowboys & Aliens," he seems poised to follow in his grandfather's footsteps and become a legend of his own.
Fred Van Lente, writer of Herc, Power Man & Iron Fist, and Comic Books Comics joins Jermaine, Stephen, Frank and Adrian via Skype to discuss the history of the medium, his over-the-top rogues gallery and the upcoming adaptation of Cowboys & Aliens.
