The  Defense:During the opening statements of Sean "Diddy" Combs's federal sex trafficking trial, his defense team, led by attorney Teny Geragos, acknowledged Combs's history of violence and temper but firmly denied that his actions constituted sex trafficking, racketeering, or prostitution. Geragos portrayed the case as one centered on "love, jealousy, infidelity, and money," arguing that the relationships in question were consensual adult interactions, including participation in a "swinger's lifestyle." She emphasized that while Combs may have exhibited abusive behavior, the prosecution's attempt to classify these personal relationships as criminal enterprises was a mischaracterization. The defense also sought to humanize Combs, reminding jurors that he is not on trial for being "mean" or a "jerk," but for specific criminal charges that they argue are unfounded. Geragos highlighted that the government's case intrudes into Combs's private life without sufficient legal basis, asserting that the alleged victims were capable individuals who made their own choices. She contended that the prosecution's narrative was an overreach, attempting to criminalize consensual activities and personal flawsto contact me:bobbycapucci@protonmail.comsource:(4) Live updates: Sean ‘Diddy' Combs trial opening statements | CNN

During a closed-door meeting on Tuesday, U.S. District Judge Arun Subramanian sternly reprimanded attorney Mark Geragos for comments made on his podcast, "2 Angry Men," regarding the prosecution team in Sean "Diddy" Combs' federal sex trafficking trial. Geragos, who represents Combs' mother and has been observed consulting with the defense team, referred to the all-female group of federal prosecutors as "a six-pack of white women." Judge Subramanian condemned the remark as "outrageous" and emphasized that such language would not be tolerated in any courtroom. He further warned Geragos that he would be monitoring future episodes of the podcast to ensure compliance with court decorum and to prevent any potential influence on the jury pool .Geragos attempted to justify his comments by suggesting that Combs feels targeted due to his race, stating that his observation was rooted in the client's perspective. However, the judge dismissed this rationale, reiterating the importance of maintaining professionalism and impartiality in legal proceedings. Prosecutors expressed concern over Geragos' public commentary, highlighting the podcast's substantial audience and the risk of prejudicing the jury. They also noted that Geragos discussed key evidence, including a surveillance video allegedly showing Combs assaulting his ex-girlfriend, Cassie Ventura, and criticized the prosecution's strategy. In response, the judge underscored the necessity for all legal representatives to refrain from extrajudicial statements that could compromise the fairness of the trialto contact me:bobbycapucci@protonmail.comsource:Diddy Trial Judge Snaps at Lawyer Who Discussed Prosecutors on TMZ - Business Insider

The Menendez Brothers' Freedom Fight Hits Another Wall—And This One's Personal New Twist in the Menendez Case: Inside the Fight Over Resentencing   The judge called it “stupid.” And honestly, that might be the most accurate legal description anyone's used in this decades-long saga. Erik and Lyle Menendez, who've been in prison for the past 29 years for killing their parents, just had their shot at a new sentencing delayed yet again—this time because no one could agree on whether they're allowed to look at a report they already have. Let's rewind. In 1989, the Menendez brothers walked into their parents' Beverly Hills mansion and shot Jose and Kitty Menendez to death. It was brutal. No question. But what came next split the country. The prosecution said it was a cold-blooded, calculated murder for inheritance. The defense said it was self-defense after a lifetime of sexual abuse at the hands of their father. The jury went with the prosecution, and in 1996, both brothers were sentenced to life without parole. Now, decades later, the conversation shifted. The state of California, under Governor Gavin Newsom's guidance, has been looking more closely at long-term sentences, rehabilitation, and second chances. That's where the Menendez brothers come back into focus. Former LA DA George Gascón—before getting pushed out—had asked for their sentences to be reconsidered, recommending they get 50 years with the possibility of parole. But Mark Geragos, the brothers' longtime attorney, is swinging for the fences. He's now asking for a reduction to manslaughter. If the judge agrees, that would mean Erik and Lyle walk out of prison immediately. But first, everyone needs to agree on how to handle a risk assessment report ordered by the governor's office. You'd think that would be straightforward. It is not. The prosecution claims they need more time because only part of the report has been released. The defense hasn't seen the full thing either. The judge, Michael Jesic, hadn't seen it either. And he was clearly done with the nonsense. "I need clarification from the governor's office,” Jesic said in court Thursday. “This is stupid.” Still, prosecutors insisted that the parts they have seen are enough to put the whole thing on pause. They filed a motion to delay so everyone could review what they call a crucial piece of the puzzle: how dangerous the brothers might be if released. According to Deputy DA Habib Balian, if a report exists that evaluates their potential for violence, it has to be considered. On the other side, Geragos went scorched earth. He slammed DA Nathan Hochman for holding a press conference where he referenced the report. Geragos now wants Hochman off the case altogether, saying he's compromised the process. Hochman, for what it's worth, has made it clear he does not support resentencing. So yeah—tensions are high. The governor's office later clarified that the risk assessment wasn't meant to stand alone—it's part of a broader review ahead of a June parole hearing. They also said that both the defense and prosecution already had access to what's been shared. And, they noted, they're happy to send it to the judge if he wants it. In the meantime, the brothers sat quietly, watching the hearing on a video feed from their prison near San Diego. Dressed in blue, emotionless, probably wondering what fresh bureaucratic hell they were now trapped in. This whole thing has been a stop-and-start process. The original resentencing hearing was set for January, but got postponed because of wildfires in LA and a last-minute attempt by prosecutors to pull back on their own request. This latest delay pushes things again, with the next court date now scheduled for May 9. Outside the courtroom, interest in the case hasn't faded. Netflix's “Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story” and a follow-up docuseries reignited public fascination. Journalists flooded the courthouse. Reporters elbowed for spots inside. It's the same media frenzy that's followed this case for decades. Inside, things got messy—again. Geragos and Bryan Freedman, an attorney representing Menendez relatives, blasted prosecutors for showing graphic crime scene photos in a prior hearing without warning the family. Freedman called it “harassment.” Balian apologized, but added that Erik and Lyle were the ones who caused the scene in those photos—not him. Another point of contention? The DA's office now controls the victims' services branch of the court. Geragos and Freedman say they've heard crickets from them. No contact. No coordination. Not even a heads-up. It's worth noting that nearly all surviving members of the Menendez family have publicly forgiven the brothers. They want them released. They believe in their rehabilitation. Prosecutors, however, say the brothers have never come clean. They point to lies told at trial—about the abuse, about what really happened that night—and say the Menendez brothers haven't taken full responsibility. Hochman's office has openly said they don't believe the abuse happened at all. So where does this leave everything? On pause. Again. The next hearing's set for May 9, assuming someone can get the right version of the report to the judge and everyone decides to read the same set of pages this time. #MenendezBrothers #ResentencingDrama #TrueCrimePodcast #JusticeSystemChaos Want to comment and watch this podcast as a video? Sean "Diddy" Combs has made a significant change to his legal team by bringing in renowned defense attorney Mark Geragos to take a leading role in his upcoming trial. Geragos, known for representing high-profile clients such as Michael Jackson, Chris Brown, and Hunter Biden, joins his daughter Teny Geragos, who is already part of Combs' defense team. This move comes after the resignation of attorney Anthony Ricco in March, leaving Marc Agnifilo as the primary counsel. The addition of Geragos suggests a strategic shift in Combs' defense as he prepares to face serious charges, including racketeering conspiracy and sex trafficking, with the trial set to begin on May 5, 2025.In a separate legal maneuver, Combs' attorneys have filed a subpoena seeking access to unaired footage and related materials from Warner Bros.' documentary series "The Fall of Diddy." The defense aims to obtain raw interviews, notes, and any compensation records involving two accusers featured in the series, identified as a former personal chef and an ex-girlfriend alleging misconduct. Dave Chappelle brought his signature wit and humor to Saturday Night Live this weekend, taking aim at Sean "Diddy" Combs' recent legal troubles and notorious parties. During his monologue, the comedian addressed Combs' ongoing criminal charges with biting commentary, poking fun at the rapper's infamous lifestyle. Chappelle joked that he was never invited to Diddy's wild gatherings. “A friend asked me, ‘Dave, did you know anything about those freak-off parties?'” he shared during the broadcast. “I thought about it and said, ‘Nah, man, I don't know anything about the freak-off.' Then they asked why I wasn't invited, and I realized, ‘Oh, my God, I'm ugly.'” Chappelle continued, “It's just no fun being famous anymore. It's like storming the beaches of Normandy in World War II, but I got to keep a happy expression on my face. The bullets are flying, stuff's exploding, and I'm like [smiling]. Then, every once in a while, something terrible happens and I'll be like, ‘Oh, Puffy got hit.'” Combs, founder of Bad Boy Records, was arrested in September and is currently detained at Brooklyn's Metropolitan Detention Center. He faces multiple charges, including sex trafficking, racketeering conspiracy, and transporting individuals for prostitution. The rapper has vehemently denied all accusations and pleaded not guilty. Chappelle's sharp humor didn't stop there. Reflecting on the exclusive nature of the parties, he joked, “Can you imagine if you were me, reading a newspaper and finding out everyone in Hollywood had an orgy behind your back? I'm glad they didn't call me, though, because the stories that are coming out about it are crazy. Clearly, I have snitch energy.” Diddy's legal team has defended his lifestyle and activities, arguing that they are not criminal. His attorney, Teny Geragos, previously stated during an appearance on NewsNation's Cuomo, “A lifestyle and being present in activities doesn't mean he committed a crime. Those activities and the lifestyle is not criminal. What's notable is they never once said that these women didn't consent to what happened, not once.” She also highlighted a key difference in the charges against Diddy compared to other high-profile cases, such as those involving R. Kelly or Jeffrey Epstein. “The difference here… no charges relating to minors,” Geragos clarified. Chappelle, known for his fearless approach to controversial topics, struck a chord with his audience, combining humor and pointed commentary. His remarks added another layer to the ongoing conversation about fame, privilege, and accountability in the entertainment industry. #DaveChappelle #SeanCombs #DiddyScandal #SaturdayNightLive #CelebrityNews #HollywoodParties #LegalTroubles Want to listen to ALL of our podcasts AD-FREE? In the case of United States v. Combs (24-cr-542), attorney Teny Geragos submitted a declaration supporting a motion for an evidentiary hearing regarding alleged government misconduct. The declaration outlines instances where federal agents purportedly leaked confidential information to the media, including details about search warrants and witness interviews. Geragos contends that these actions have compromised Sean Combs' right to a fair trial by influencing public perception and potentially tainting the jury pool.Additionally, the declaration highlights the release of a 2016 hotel surveillance video involving Combs and his ex-girlfriend, Cassie Ventura. Geragos argues that the video's leak to the media was orchestrated by government agents, violating grand jury secrecy rules. The defense asserts that such leaks are part of a broader pattern of misconduct aimed at prejudicing the case against Combs. Consequently, they request an evidentiary hearing to investigate these allegations and seek appropriate remedies to ensure a fair judicial process.(commercial at 7:48)to contact me:bobbycapucci@protonmail.comsource:gov.uscourts.nysd.628425.81.0_1.pdfBecome a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/the-epstein-chronicles--5003294/support.

Jay-Z and Sean “Diddy” Combs are pushing back against serious allegations of sexual assault made by a woman who claims the two attacked her when she was 13 at an after-party for the 2000 MTV Video Music Awards. The woman, whose identity has not been revealed, admitted to inconsistencies in her story, though she stands by her allegations. The woman alleged she was driven from Rochester, New York, to New York City for the VMAs and later attended an after-party. According to her, she was offered a ride by Combs' limousine driver and arrived at the party, where she spoke with musicians Benji Madden and his brother. She claimed she was drugged at the party and later sexually assaulted by Jay-Z, Combs, and an unnamed celebrity. The story has drawn skepticism after representatives for the Madden brothers confirmed they were on tour in the Midwest during the VMAs. Additionally, the woman's father said he doesn't recall the more than five-hour drive home from New York City, casting further doubt on her account. Jay-Z, whose legal name is Shawn Carter, responded firmly in a statement, criticizing Tony Buzbee, the woman's attorney. “This incident didn't happen and yet he filed it in court and doubled down in the press,” he said. “True Justice is coming. We fight FROM victory, not FOR victory. This was over before it began. This 1-800 lawyer doesn't realize it yet, but, soon.” Buzbee, a Houston-based personal injury lawyer representing 120 alleged victims of sexual misconduct against Combs, defended his actions, stating that it is his team's responsibility to investigate any new claims as they arise. He previously denied accusations of blackmail by Jay-Z, calling such claims “stupid and laughable.” Combs, currently awaiting trial on federal sex trafficking charges, also denied the allegations through his attorney, Teny R. Geragos. “Yesterday, a lawyer admitted that over 50 people falsely claimed to be victims. Today, for the second time this week, a Buzbee plaintiff has been exposed. This is the beginning of the end of this shameful money grab,” Geragos said. The woman's original lawsuit accused Combs of sexual assault, but she amended it last week to include Jay-Z. She admitted to making “some mistakes” in recalling events but insisted the core of her story remains true. According to her lawsuit, she was made to sign a nondisclosure agreement while in the limousine before being drugged at the party. She claims the assault occurred in a bedroom where she had gone to rest. Jay-Z's attorney, Alex Spiro, has filed a motion to dismiss the case, calling it “stunning” that such a serious complaint would be filed without proper vetting. “It is stunning that a lawyer would not only file such a serious complaint without proper vetting but would make things worse by further peddling this false story in the press,” Spiro said. Both Jay-Z and Combs are icons of the hip-hop world, credited with building vast empires that extend far beyond music. Jay-Z, with an estimated net worth of $2.5 billion, has been a major figure in the industry, collaborating with Combs on music and business ventures over the years. The legal challenges come as Combs faces mounting accusations, with Buzbee's firm filing numerous lawsuits and establishing a toll-free hotline for alleged victims. Combs, who has pleaded not guilty to federal charges, was denied bail for the third time and is set to face trial in May. As the legal battles unfold, the allegations raise questions about the legitimacy of the claims and the broader wave of lawsuits filed against high-profile figures in the entertainment industry. #JayZ #Diddy #SexualAssault #MTVVMAs #TonyBuzbee #HipHopNews #LegalBattles Want to listen to ALL of our podcasts AD-FREE? Nathan Hochman had barely unpacked his office when his tenure as Los Angeles County District Attorney began with a seismic jolt. In his first major act, he dismissed two high-ranking deputies, Nancy Theberge and Brock Lunsford, who had become central figures in the simmering controversy surrounding Lyle and Erik Menendez. The Menendez brothers, infamous for the brutal 1989 murders of their parents, were the focus of a contentious resentencing appeal that had ignited public and legal debate alike. Hochman's decisive move sent shockwaves through the legal community, marking a clear departure from the policies of his predecessor, George Gascon. Theberge and Lunsford had been instrumental in a 57-page appeal filed just weeks earlier, advocating for a reduction in the brothers' life sentences without the possibility of parole. Their argument rested on evidence of rehabilitation. The proposed revision—50 years to life—would have made the Menendez brothers immediately eligible for parole after 34 years of incarceration. Critics lambasted the move as a slap in the face to justice, reigniting the fierce divide that had characterized public opinion since the sensational trial in the mid-1990s. Hochman's stance was unequivocal. He publicly criticized Gascon's approach to the Menendez case, accusing him of leveraging high-profile cases for political gain. By removing Theberge and Lunsford from their positions, Hochman made it clear that his administration would be taking a different path. Theberge, who had led the resentencing unit under Gascon, was transferred to the office of the Alternate Public Defender, while Lunsford was reassigned within the DA's office. These personnel shifts signaled a stark policy pivot—one that appeared to prioritize retribution over rehabilitation. Yet the personnel changes only deepened the intrigue. Shortly after Hochman's announcement, the DA's office declared that Antonio Aguilar would take over as head of the resentencing unit and the post-conviction and discovery division. However, Aguilar denied the appointment, despite his name being listed on the official roster of new appointments. The office, tight-lipped as ever, declined to clarify the discrepancy, leaving Observers speculated about the true state of affairs within the DA's administration. This lack of transparency only added fuel to the growing skepticism about Hochman's intentions and the broader direction of his administration.   The Menendez brothers' resentencing hearing, initially scheduled for mid-December, became another casualty of the administrative upheaval. Judge Michael Jesic postponed the hearing to late January, citing the need to give Hochman's team sufficient time to familiarize themselves with the voluminous case file. This delay added another layer of uncertainty to an already convoluted saga. Hochman now faced a critical decision: whether to proceed with the original recommendation for resentencing or to withdraw it, provided he could present a legitimate reason for doing so. Either choice carried significant risks, not only for the Menendez brothers but also for the credibility of the DA's office under its new leadership. With public scrutiny intensifying, Hochman's next move could set a precedent for how his tenure would be judged.   Meanwhile, Mark Geragos, the brothers' high-profile attorney, had been busy mounting a parallel offensive. Geragos filed a habeas corpus petition that introduced new evidence allegedly corroborating the brothers' claims of sexual abuse by their father. This revelation, Geragos argued, warranted a new trial. The petition awaited a response from the DA's office, which had initially been due in late November but requested an extension until December 20. The delay only heightened the tension, as all parties braced for a showdown in the courtroom. Geragos's strategy was clear: keep the focus on the alleged abuse and its potential impact on the original trial's outcome. This approach not only put pressure on Hochman but also revived public interest in the case, ensuring that every development was scrutinized by the media.   Complicating matters further was the Menendez brothers' clemency appeal to Governor Gavin Newsom. The governor deferred any action, citing respect for Hochman's review of the case. The clemency request represented a long-shot bid for freedom, but it also underscored the high stakes involved. Clemency, a rarely granted relief, would require compelling evidence of miscarriage of justice, rehabilitation, or extenuating circumstances. Newsom's decision to defer highlighted the gravity of the situation and the potential political ramifications of any action he might take. For the brothers, it was a sliver of hope in an otherwise daunting legal landscape.   The January 30–31 hearing loomed large on the horizon, poised to become a pivotal moment not just for the Menendez brothers but for the broader conversation about justice, rehabilitation, and the legacy of one of the most notorious cases in American legal history. The outcome of this hearing could redefine the narrative surrounding the Menendez brothers, shifting it from one of cold-blooded killers to victims of a deeply dysfunctional family dynamic. However, such a shift would not come easily. The prosecution's team was expected to vigorously oppose any motion that might appear to lessen the severity of the brothers' crimes.   What began as a family tragedy has evolved into a multifaceted legal drama, replete with power struggles, moral quandaries, and the ever-present specter of public scrutiny. Hochman's early moves have set the stage for a high-stakes confrontation, one that promises to test the limits of justice and redemption in a system often criticized for its rigidity. As the Menendez brothers await their day in court, the question remains: will this new chapter bring closure to a case that has haunted the public imagination for decades, or will it only deepen the mystery?   Adding to the drama is the renewed cultural fascination with the case, spurred in part by the Netflix series "Monsters," which revisited the Menendez brothers' story in a broader context of sensationalized family crimes. The series has reignited debates over the fairness of the original trial, the admissibility of abuse claims, and the role of public opinion in shaping legal outcomes. For many, the Menendez case serves as a litmus test for how society balances the scales of justice against the backdrop of human complexity. This renewed attention has amplified the stakes for all involved, from the DA's office to the defense team, and even the public officials who might be drawn into the fray.   As the clock ticks down to the January hearing, one thing is certain: the Menendez brothers' story is far from over. With new evidence, shifting legal strategies, and a public hungry for resolution, the next chapter promises to be as riveting and consequential as the events that have already unfolded. The question of justice—what it means, who deserves it, and how it should be administered—looms large, casting a shadow over the proceedings and ensuring that this case will remain etched in the annals of American legal history. The defense asserts that such leaks are part of a broader pattern of misconduct aimed at prejudicing the case against Combs. Consequently, they request an evidentiary hearing to investigate these allegations and seek appropriate remedies to ensure a fair judicial process.(commercial at 7:48)to contact me:bobbycapucci@protonmail.comsource:gov.uscourts.nysd.628425.81.0_1.pdf

Hunter Biden's lawyers are gearing up to take legal action against Fox News. A letter, finalized April 23, tipped off Fox News Channel and Fox News Digital of the imminent litigation, alleging the network of painting Hunter Biden inaccurately and unjustly profiting from his image and personal information. Renowned attorney Mark Geragos, along with his team, is spearheading the lawsuit on Mr. Biden's behalf. The aforementioned letter is actually the second one delivered to Fox News within the last month. The previous letter was hand-delivered to the counsel of Fox a fortnight ago. The network requested additional time to put together a response, according to reliable sources. The latest letter, delivered on April 23, contained the deadline of Friday, April 26, for Fox to respond, as per Geragos. Interestingly, this legal development surfaced nearly a year after Fox News decided to pay a hefty sum approximating $800 million to settle a defamation lawsuit with Dominion Voting Systems. This was following the network's damaging and baseless allegations about election fraud in the 2020 presidential election. Furthering this narrative, Fox News also finalized a $12 million settlement with an ex-employee claiming she was forced to offer misleading information regarding the Dominion lawsuit. In addition to this ongoing litigation saga, Fox News is also grappling with a $2.7 billion lawsuit commandeered by Smartmatic, another enterprise dealing in voting systems. Similar claims have been made against company directors by shareholders for the unchecked broadcast of these baseless allegations during Fox's 2020 election coverage.  See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

The involvement of the LA Innocence Project in the infamous Scott Peterson case, convicted for the murder of his wife Lacey Peterson, has reignited a debate that seemed long settled. The question arises: Can new evidence unearthed by this organization challenge the verdict that has stood for over two decades?    In a recent episode of "Hidden Killers," host Tony Brueski delved into this complex issue with Jennifer Coffindaffer, a former FBI Special Agent. The conversation highlighted a critical distinction – the LA Innocence Project, the group now championing Peterson's case, is distinct from the renowned Innocence Project. This revelation itself raises eyebrows about the credibility and motivations of the LA-based group.    Coffindaffer shared insights into the new evidence brought forward by the LA Innocence Project – a van with a red stain, discovered on Christmas morning, a mile and a half from the crime scene. The nature of this stain, whether it's blood, paint, or something else, remains unknown. Coffindaffer noted, "I think it's really important to get it tested. The issue, of course, is, has it even been preserved?"    The former FBI agent raised questions about the relevance and preservation of this evidence. Given the passage of time, the integrity of any DNA that might be present is uncertain. Moreover, the sudden emergence of this evidence after two decades is perplexing. "Where has it been over the last 20 years that suddenly today we're talking about it?" Coffindaffer questioned.    Brueski and Coffindaffer also revisited the burglary across the street from the Peterson home, which occurred around the time of Lacey's disappearance. The defense initially posited that this burglary could be linked to Lacey's murder, suggesting she might have been killed by burglars to silence her as a witness. However, this theory was largely discredited when it was established that the burglary happened after Lacey's disappearance.    The conversation also touched upon the role of Mark Geragos, Peterson's defense attorney, who has consistently maintained his client's innocence. Coffindaffer, while acknowledging Geragos' expertise, expressed skepticism about his stance, given his role as a defense attorney.    A significant point of contention discussed was the handling of the jury in Peterson's trial. The vacating of Peterson's death sentence due to a juror-related issue raises questions about the fairness and integrity of the trial process. "Either the conviction's good and was worth the death penalty, or the conviction wasn't good, and he shouldn't be in jail for life," Coffindaffer stated, highlighting the dilemma faced by the justice system in such scenarios.    The involvement of the LA Innocence Project, according to Coffindaffer, seems more like a bid for attention than a genuine quest for justice. "They need to bark up another tree, but boy, has this gotten them so much recognition," she remarked, indicating skepticism about their choice of case and the quality of the new evidence.    In conclusion, the renewed interest in the Scott Peterson case, spurred by the LA Innocence Project, brings forth a mixture of skepticism and curiosity. While new evidence always holds the potential to alter the course of justice, the credibility of the evidence and the motives of those presenting it remain under scrutiny. As the saga continues, one question lingers: Can this new evidence truly unravel the truth in a case as complex and emotionally charged as that of Scott Peterson, or will it simply add another layer of mystery to an already convoluted narrative? Former UFC champion Cain Velasquez is still in jail without bail, but now his attorney's Mark Geragos is under investigation by the State Bar of California. They alleged that Los Angeles attorney Brian Kabateck and Geragos spent part of a multimillion-dollar insurance settlement related to the Armenian Genocide. What should Velasquez do now?  2. Does the media and the general public owe PnB Rock's girlfriend an apology? According to the LAPD, the robbery and murder of PnB Rock was part of a conspiracy that was formed when he arrived at the Roscoe's Chicken and Waffles.  3. Freddie Trone, 40, was arrested in Las Vegas in connection to the murder of PnB Rock. His wife, Shauntel Trone was arrested days earlier for accessory to murder and their son, a minor that is reported to be 17-years old was charged with murder and identified as the shooter.  4. Rapper YG just released a new song, “How to Rob a Rapper” off his brand new album. The song feature Mozzy and D3 from the Nickerson Gardens. The song is considered controversial because of the recent tragic death of PnB Rock. Was the song being released insensitive to the recent events?  5. California governor Gavin Newsom signs rap lyric bill AB2799, that prevents California prosecutors from using rappers lyrics or any part of their creative art as evidence against a defendant unless it is directly related to a crime. In the past, using art, videos, music, lyrics was common practice in the criminal courts in California to use against mostly Black and Latino defendants.    If you want to advertise on Streets & Scholars contact [STEF (@) streetgangs . com ] * Streets & Scholars Instagram: http://www.instagram.com/streets.and.scholars  * Street TV channel: http://www.youtube.com/streetgangs * Alex on Instagram: http://www.instagram.com/alexalonso101  * FG Unleashed: https://www.youtube.com/c/FGUNLEASHED * FG on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/fgeneral1/ * StreetGangs website: http://www.streetgangs.com

In the 90's, Ken Starr was pursuing Bill Clinton. And anyone who got in Starr's way became a target. This included Susan McDougal, who refused to testify against Clinton because she believed that Starr was pressuring her to lie. Enter Mark Geragos, who was thrust onto the national stage with back to back trials involving McDougal -- one in state court in Santa Monica and one in federal court in Little Rock, Arkansas. The California case involved allegations of embezzlement from a famous conductor and his wife. But many believed that Starr was using this case as pressure to get McDougal to fold in the federal case. He miscalculated both McDougal and Geragos, who proceeded to trial in both cases, and won. Enjoy the discussion between two real trial lawyers -- Geragos and host David Oscar Markus -- who discuss the enormous risks clients face when taking on the government and their strategic decisions along the way.

Bolsinger's lawyer is well-known sports attorney Ben Meiselas, an advocate for player's rights who is a partner at the Los Angeles firm Geragos and Geragos.  (3:05) Ben joined Mike Meltser to discuss the lawsuit. Among the topics discussed: Why was the lawsuit filed? Why does Ben feel that many of us can relate to Mike Bolsinger?  How can Ben prove that one relief appearance at Minute Maid Park cost Mike Bolsinger his MLB career? Why did he pick LA as the place to file the lawsuit?  Why does Mike Bolsinger have any claim to the $31 million in bonuses that the Astros won during the 2017 playoffs?  What are the next steps for this lawsuit?  (24:54) Mike finishes the episode by explaining that the biggest part of this lawsuit is the possibility of discovery, and why the Astros must avoid it at all costs. Mike also reacts to many of the arguments that Ben Meiselas made during the interview.

On Todays Episode We Discuss Jay-Z facing backlash from supporters of Colin Kaepernick and critics of the National Football League, plus being accused of back shooting Jermaine Dupri after the NFL announced last week that the hip-hop mogul and his label teamed up with the league on a new initiative to amplify social justice. The partnership doesn't include the former San Francisco 49ers quarterback a fact that was not lost on his supporters and came on the heels of the third anniversary of Kaepernick's historic protest on the field. Attorney Mark Geragos, who represents Kaepernick, described the deal in a phone interview with ABC News on Monday as "cold-blooded."This deal between Jay-Z and the NFL crosses the intellectual picket line," Geragos said, adding that neither the NFL nor Jay-Z reached out to Kaepernick during discussions. "I can confirm to you that the deal was already done prior to any conversation that [Kaepernick] had with Jay-Z and he certainly didn't have any conversations with the NFL," Geragos said. Kaepernick, who hasn't played in the NFL since 2016, was propelled into the national spotlightwhen he became the first NFL player to take a knee during the playing of the National Anthem to protest racism and police brutality on Aug. 14, 2016. Everyone from Hot97 Ebro In The Morning, Cthagod from the breakfast club, Freddie Gibbs and tons more have all weighed in with thier opinions on this situation after social media went into flames calling Jay-z a sellout for not contacting Colin Kaepernick or having him apart of this deal. Shortly after all the backlash and news the NFL released a statement stating Jayz would own a substantial amount of a NFL team. Day by day this story gets more out of control, so we at The Doc Hicks Podcast decided to give our thoughts on this situation. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/thedochickspodcast/message Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/thedochickspodcast/support

On this episode of The Critical Hour, Dr. Wilmer Leon is joined by Colin Campbell, senior Washington, DC, correspondent; and Caleb Maupin, a journalist, and political analyst who focuses his coverage on US foreign policy and the global system of monopoly capitalism and imperialism. It's Friday: that means it's panel time, as we discuss the major stories of the week.Five officers are injured and five civilians are dead, including the gunman in Aurora, Illinois. The incident occurred at the Henry Pratt Company manufacturing plant. The suspected gunman in Friday's mass shooting has been identified as Gary Martin. The 45-year-old was an employee at the business where the shooting occurred. We'll discuss the latest in the case. Former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick and Carolina Panthers safety Eric Reid have reached a settlement with the NFL concerning their collusion grievances against the league. Attorney Mark Geragos and the NFL said in a joint statement issued earlier today, ”The resolution of this matter is subject to a confidentiality agreement, so there will be no further comment by any party." Kaepernick charged that the NFL and its owners "have colluded to deprive Mr. Kaepernick of employment rights in retaliation for Mr. Kaepernick's leadership and advocacy for equality and social justice and his bringing awareness to peculiar institutions still undermining racial equality in the United States." Reid was the first player to join Kaepernick in kneeling during the national anthem to protest racial inequality and police brutality. I think it is interesting and telling that Kaepernick did not go through the NFL Players Association in filing the grievance but instead hired Geragos, a high-profile attorney.President Donald Trump declared a national emergency Friday in a bid to fund his promised wall at the US-Mexico border without congressional approval, an action Democrats have vowed to challenge as a violation of the US Constitution. He also signed a bipartisan government spending bill that would prevent another partial government shutdown by funding several agencies that otherwise would have closed on Saturday. The legislation would fund nine Cabinet departments and dozens of other agencies through September 30, removing — for now — the threat of another government shutdown. It provides $1.375 billion for 55 miles of new fences along the border in Texas, far short of the $5.7 billion Trump had sought for 234 miles of steel walls. The final number for border barriers is also less than deals that were on the table last year before Trump pushed the government into a record, 35-day shutdown. So, did he get a worse deal than he was offered before? The Supreme Court agreed on Friday to decide whether the Trump administration may add a question about citizenship to the next census questionnaire. Critics say that adding the question would undermine the accuracy of the census because both legal and unauthorized immigrants might refuse to fill out the form. By one government estimate, about 6.5 million people might decide not to participate. That could reduce Democratic representation when Congressional districts are drawn in 2021 and affect the distribution of hundreds of billions of dollars in federal spending. A month into Venezuela's high-stakes political crisis, President Nicolas Maduro revealed in an Associated Press interview that his government has held secret talks with the Trump administration. He also predicted he would survive the US-led coup to force his resignation. While harshly criticizing US President Donald Trump's confrontational stance toward his socialist government, Maduro said Thursday that he holds out hope of meeting the US president soon to resolve a crisis triggered by America's recognition of his opponent, Juan Guaido, as Venezuela's rightful leader. Now approaching nearly a year after the April 7, 2018 alleged chemical attack in Douma, Syria — which the White House used as a pretext to bomb Syrian government facilities and bases throughout Damascus — a BBC reporter who investigated the incident on the ground has issued public statements saying the "Assad sarin attack" on Douma was indeed "staged." Riam Dalati is a well-known BBC Syria producer who has long reported from the region. He shocked his nearly 20,000 twitter followers on Wednesday by stating that after a "six-month investigation" he had concluded, "I can prove without a doubt that the Douma Hospital scene was staged." Despite an initial report from TMZ that upon presenting a search warrant, the LAPD found drugs and firearms in Chris Brown’s home, the Los Angeles Times is now reporting that police discovered no such weapons. Brown was arrested on Tuesday (Aug. 30) on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon after Baylee Curran, an aspiring actress and model, accused the singer of pointing a gun at her when she went to examine a piece of jewelry. “It has become apparent that the allegations are not just false but fabricated,” his attorney Mark Geragos said, noting as well that during their search of Brown’s home, the LAPD found neither the piece of jewelry Curran describes in her report, nor any firearms. Breezy was released on $250,000 bail late Tuesday evening, with an arraignment scheduled for Sept. 20 at the Clara Shortridge Foltz Criminal Justice Center. The singer has yet to address the charges beyond an Instagram video in which he says he’ll be turning the cheek, though Geragos said upon Brown’s release, “Chris is out and well. The allegations against him are demonstrably false.” Yesterday, Brown released a new track, “What Would You Do?” as a way to shift his own focus away from the ongoing legal drama. XXL will continue to update this story as news develops. The Los Angeles Times additionally reports that Curran and a friend are wanted for questioning by the NYPD following an October 2013 theft at the Plaza Hotel, and 50 Cent, a frequent Brown collaborator, said yesterday that he thinks Curran was attempting to steal from the singer.
