Send a textIn one specific section of his book, Tomlinson details that to qualify for the Increment, a certain amount of time must be served with MI6: “...SAS and SBS personnel must have served for at least five years and have reached the rank of sergeant. They are security vetted by MI6 and given a short induction course into the function and objectives of the service. If they have not already learnt surveillance skills, they take a three-week course at the Fort. Back at their bases in Hereford and Poole, their already substantial military skills are fine-tuned. They learn how to use improvised explosives and sabotage techniques, as well as advanced VIP protection skills, study guerilla warfare organisation and practise advanced insertion techniques - for example, high-altitude parachuting from commercial aircraft or covert landings from submarines. Advanced civilian qualifications are acquired: several of the SBS Increment have commercial ship's skipper's tickets in their alias name, enabling them legally to hire, say, a fishing trawler.” Recruiters for E Squadron are also known to choose a wide variety of individuals to fill their vacancies, hiring from countries such as Fiji, Malta and Jamaica, as well as British citizens of India, Yemen and Nigeria, to name a few. Additionally, women are also regularly recruited in these positions, with hired individuals needing to be able to fit in anywhere, easily, with one source telling The Sun, “Women are often the best at this sort of work. If a group of blokes turns up, it always looks suspicious. We haven't had a female Bond in the films, but there are already lots in real life.” Welcome to Wars of the World....Support the show

Our mastheads have discovered that a number of sex offenders have committed crimes - in our communities - after serving their time in prison. And here’s the thing. They committed these crimes while under a “supervision order”. This little known order, issued by a court, is meant to keep a “ring fence” around these known offenders, to keep tabs on them and monitor their movement. But it has also served to keep crimes by these violent predators largely hidden, due to a veil of secrecy created by legislation that protects them. Today, senior reporter Chris Vedelago, on the failure of these secrecy laws. The Secret Tour of Long Island's Spy Ring — Nathaniel Philbrick — Washington's tour of Long Island in April 1790 is characterized as a secretive journey implemented with a deliberate "press blackout," likely designed to quietly thank members of the Culper Spy Ring who had conducted intelligence operations during the Revolutionary War. Unlike his extensively documented other travels, there are no surviving diary entries or newspaper accounts of this mysterious trip. Philbrick suggests Washington visited former spies including Austin Roe and Robert Townsend to personally express gratitude for their extraordinary risks and contributions to American independence. Philbrickhighlights serendipitous historical connections, including a chair in Huntington later used by President Theodore Roosevelt, symbolically linking two presidencies across centuries through shared physical objects. 1789

What happens when a life in climbing spans five decades, multiple eras, and some of the most surprising moments in outdoor history? In this episode, legendary climber Russ Clune takes us inside the world that shaped him: the Shawangunks (“the Gunks”) of the 1970s and 80s — an unlikely counterculture just two hours from Manhattan where artists, dirtbags, misfits, and pioneers built the early soul of American climbing.Russ shares rare, behind-the-scenes stories from his incredible career, including:• Competing in a government-run climbing event in Cold War Russia Painted red lines on limestone cliffs, leather-gloved belayers, Soviet stadium crowds, and a Wyoming cowboy becoming a national hero overnight. It's a chapter of climbing history almost no one has heard.• The quiet era of “competitive free soloing” in the Gunks Russ recounts the friendly, unspoken one-upmanship among friends that culminated in his iconic solo of Supercrack. A moment that revealed both the power and limits of the mind — and marked the end of his soloing career.• What longevity really looks like at 66 Not superhuman strength — but consistency, humility, curiosity, and the ability to redefine performance as the decades unfold.• How to stay connected to your sport when your body changes Russ talks openly about becoming the belay anchor instead of the rope gun, and why aging in climbing can feel meaningful in its own way.
US Designates Muslim Brotherhood Branches and Ideological Threat — John Batchelor, Bill Roggio, Edmund Fitton-Brown — Fitton-Brown describes the Muslim Brotherhood (Ikhwan) as a secretive, transnational organization with deliberately decentralized hierarchical structure designed to obscure leadership and maintain operational security. Fitton-Brown articulates the organization's long-term strategic objective: establishment of a global Islamic caliphatestructure superseding nation-states. Batchelor reports that the US formally designated violent Muslim Brotherhoodaffiliates operating in Lebanon, Jordan, and Egypt as terrorist organizations. Roggio notes conspicuously that Turkishand Qatari Muslim Brotherhood branches were omitted from designation, likely because those nations are viewed as strategically important US policy facilitators requiring diplomatic accommodation. 1900 ISTANBUL POST OFFICE

Since its introduction in 1977, lethal injection has been the most commonly used method of execution by states with the death penalty. While it's often viewed as more humane than other methods, when the curtain is pulled back, it is tainted with error, ineptitude and secrecy that has led to many botched executions and unnecessary suffering. University of Richmond law professor and death penalty scholar Corinna Barrett Lain's debut book “Secrets of the Killing State” explores the secretive world of lethal injection in Missouri and throughout the U.S.

From sealed search warrants and redacted DNA filings to courtroom closures and hidden mental health motions, this video breaks down the seven biggest reasons the public is being kept in the dark. We explore how both the prosecution and the defense are using secrecy to shape the trial, suppress evidence debate, and control what potential jurors see before opening statements ever happen. If you've been wondering why key details still aren't public, this is your inside look at the legal chess game playing out behind courtroom doors. We rely only on verified court filings, official orders, and direct legal reporting—no speculation, just facts. Subscribe for more in-depth true crime coverage, expert interviews, and behind-the-scenes breakdowns on the Kohberger trial and other high-profile cases. #BryanKohberger #TrueCrime #KohbergerTrial #IdahoMurders #KohbergerEvidence #CourtSecrecy #DNAEvidence #KohbergerUpdate #CriminalJustice #LegalBreakdown Want to comment and watch this podcast as a video? Laura McConnell grew up in a fundamentalist sect with no name. Along with no official title, the group also claims to have no registration around the world, no formal hierarchy, and no official places of worship. According to Laura, it's this secrecy and denial that has allowed abuse to flourish within the community. She joins us today to expose what she witnessed and experienced inside the group she calls The Truth. Daily Study: In today's message, I am answering a question. The question is, “Should Christians be secretive in business dealings?” The scenario behind this question is that this person and their cousin are starting a Christian radio station. They want to purchase a radio commercial in an effort to learn about the process of selling radio air time and commercials. However, they don't want to reveal to the radio station the real reason behind the purchase of the commercial. They are wondering whether, as Christians, can they be secret shoppers (in a sense), or should they be transparent about their motives?
