Another bleak Canucks season has come to a merciful end, as we look back on a slew of controversies that barely even acknowledges how additionally painful it was to actually watch the team play. Plus, the guys make their quick picks for the playoffs, and go in-depth on which team in the lottery mix actually deserves to land Connor Bedard, which clubs would be tolerable to see him end up with, and who would be the most annoying to see come out on top at this year's draft. Jackson is lie-on-the-floor tired as we convene to discuss the Canucks' recent forays into college free agency, as well as Andrei Kuzmenko's controversial decision to skip warm-ups on Pride Night due to family reasons. Of course in discussing the push for LGBTQ acceptance in hockey spaces, the fellas are pleased to be joined by the only trans member of the Goalie Guild that we happen to know, our good friend Riley! We ponder if the NHL is better off just not holding Pride Nights at all if they're just going to devolve into individual players week after week taking turns announcing they hate queer people. Plus, all three gentlemen catch us up on their lives today. Barry Macdonald joins remotely after he felt compelled to post on the Canucks treatment of former head coach Bruce Boudreau. Barry gives us his feelings about the way the team is currently being run and shares some incredible stories about the late Gino Odjick. Tom Larscheid still shoots his age on the golf course -- and he'll be 83 this spring! That twinkle in his eye, that pep in his voice...it all shines through as it did for 28 years in the Canucks broadcast booth. Incredibly busy show with so much happening around the Canucks. Matt and Blake make the passing of Gino Odjick their lead discussion point, as well as the subject of the Welcome Matt. The fellas catch up with Kirk McLean, a Canucks ambassador, board member of the Canucks Alumni and a friend/former teammate of Gino. The Canucks legend was beloved by the B.C. hockey public, and today's To the People segment was dedicated to stories and memories of Gino. Jeff Paterson (Rink Wide: Vancouver) joins to interpret a wide-ranging press conference from Canucks president of hockey operations Jim Rutherford. So many talking points from his job performance, to a Horvat trade, to an inability to move contracts, to a timeline for competitiveness. Lastly, Nathan Rourke stops by to say goodbye after signing with the NFL's Jacksonville Jaguars. The (now) former B.C. Lions quarterback explains why he chose Jacksonville and reminisces about his time in Vancouver and his extraordinary 2022 season.Presented by Jaguar Vancouver, Land Rover Vancouver & Audi Downtown Vancouver.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

It's a 'wild' and crazy podcast as NFL Super Wild Card Weekend was a lot more than what I expected. Here to break it all down and everything else that's happening in sports as the latest edition has arrived. On deck: (3:19) Who would've thought that out of the five games over the NFL Super Wild Card Weekend, four of them would go almost to the wire? That's what we got as I'll delve into all that took place in each of the five games played over the last couple of days. The Seahawks hung tough for two and a a half quarters, but the 49ers took over to a 41-23 win. It was another epic Charger meltdown in their playoff history as I detail the brutal postseason defeats in this century, topped by the 27-0 lead over Jacksonville that turned into a 31-30 defeat. The Dolphins surprised up in Buffalo (with a couple of breaks along the way) against a Bills team that I have a theory about and won't be long for this postseason if they play this way. Miami's play calling (as well as the Vikings and Ravens) were the theme of the day as they were clueless on two occasions in this game, which I explain. Is Daniel Jones elite as he pushes his Giants team to victory in Minnesota? And Ravens-Bengals was typical AFC North football as it came down to one bone-headed decision which turned the game around. I'll also get into the final Wild Card matchup between the Cowboys-Buccaneers. Why I'm hoping for Dallas to win? The AFC Title Game is being played in Atlanta? REALLY? Sean McVay stays on board to coach the Rams and a look to the Divisional Round next week. (45:36) Are we going to have to take the Seattle Kraken seriously? They're not only the hottest team in the NHL, but made history along the way with a seven game road trip that were all victorious. The first of its kind ever! I owe an apology to you, the listener, in regards to the All-Star Break and what I stated last week. There's some sad news to report as I'll remember former Canucks tough guy, Gino Odjick, who passed away yesterday at the age of 52. (54:41) The NBA is relatively quiet as I touch on another injury (John Wall) with the Clippers, a throwback to the old Alamodome for the Spurs and Russell Westbrook dribbles out the final seconds without a shot in a loss to the Lakers last night. (56:53) Tennis's first Grand Slam is here as the Australian Open is underway. I'll preview who's back (Novak Djokovic) and who's missing (Carlos Alcaraz, Nick Kyrgios, Naomi Osaka, etc.) with predictions as to who'll win to kick off the calendar year.
