Ne le da v deželah na desnem bregu Mure v splošnem slabo poznamo zgodovino tistih s Slovenci poseljenih krajev, ki so stoletja sodili pod krono svetega Štefana, ali da so cestne povezave s Porabjem še danes razmeroma skromne, tudi razumevanje narečja, ki ga govorijo tamkajšnji ljudje, nam povzroča nemalo preglavic. Precejšnjo razdaljo, ki nas torej loči od porabskih Slovencev, zdaj vsaj malo krajša študija Zemljepisna imena slovenskega Porabja, ki je izšla pri Založbi ZRC. Pri pripravi te knjige so moči združili sodelavci Geografskega inštituta Antona Melika ter Inštituta za slovenski jezik Frana Ramovša. Kaj vse so severno od Goričkega navsezadnje odkrili, smo preverjali v tokratnih Podobah znanja, ko smo pred mikrofonom gostili eno izmed soavtoric Zemljepisnih imen slovenskega Porabja, jezikoslovko, dialektologinjo in raziskovalko na Inštitutu za slovenski jezik Frana Ramovša, dr.
