EPISODE 70 KG joins us on the show to recap Super Wildcard Weekend and discuss the Divisional round. The New York Giants stomped a mud hole all over the Minnesota Vikings, and the G Men advance into the divisional round of the playoffs and get rewarded with a 3rd game against the Philadelphia Eagles. Doug Pederson's Jaguars started with 4 turnovers against the LA Chargers, but somehow Pederson and Trevor Lawrence were able to rally and clear the 27-point deficit and comeback against the Chargers. It's not about how you start; it's about how you finish! The Jags will go one on one with Andy Reid and the Kansas City Chiefs. The Bengals take care of the Ravens again, and the Bills escape the dolphins to advance. The San Francisco 49ers are overpowered, but no one can deny that Dakota Prescott and the Dallas Cowboys are starting to look dominant too. But will they be able to go blow for blow with the playmakers on the 49ers? On today's episode, Jason and Super Producer Rob G (Robert Guerra) bring you wall-to-wall coverage of NFL Wild Card Weekend. We've been told that the NFL is a Quarterback League so naturally guys like Skylar Thompson and Tyler Huntley went toe-to-toe with MVP candidates Josh Allen and Joe Burrow. However, it's clear that the one guy who 'won' the weekend is New York Giants signal caller Daniel Jones. Jones out-dueled Kirk Cousins in what was easily his best game of the season. The question then now becomes whether or not Jones has shown enough over the last two months to solidify himself as the Giants' franchise quarterback moving forward. On the flip side, the clear 'losers' of the weekend were Los Angeles Chargers, who blew a 27-0 lead to the Jacksonville Jaguars. Brandon Staley showed once again that he's not quite cut out to be the head coach of an NFL with Super Bowl aspirations. If the Chargers weren't such a historically cheap franchise they would seem like a lock to nab Sean Payton to be their next head coach this offseason. Moreover, Rob G argues that a loss like the one the Chargers suffered proves once and for all that Justin Herbert should no longer be included in the group of elite quarterbacks. Is Herbert an elite QB, or is he just the second coming of the Detroit Lions version of Matthew Stafford? Finally, the guys close the show by previewing tonight's game between the Dallas Cowboys and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Are the Bucs being oversold in this spot? Is Mike McCarthy's job on the line? The guys have the answers to those questions - and more! It's a 'wild' and crazy podcast as NFL Super Wild Card Weekend was a lot more than what I expected. Here to break it all down and everything else that's happening in sports as the latest edition has arrived. On deck: (3:19) Who would've thought that out of the five games over the NFL Super Wild Card Weekend, four of them would go almost to the wire? That's what we got as I'll delve into all that took place in each of the five games played over the last couple of days. The Seahawks hung tough for two and a a half quarters, but the 49ers took over to a 41-23 win. It was another epic Charger meltdown in their playoff history as I detail the brutal postseason defeats in this century, topped by the 27-0 lead over Jacksonville that turned into a 31-30 defeat. The Dolphins surprised up in Buffalo (with a couple of breaks along the way) against a Bills team that I have a theory about and won't be long for this postseason if they play this way. Miami's play calling (as well as the Vikings and Ravens) were the theme of the day as they were clueless on two occasions in this game, which I explain. Is Daniel Jones elite as he pushes his Giants team to victory in Minnesota? And Ravens-Bengals was typical AFC North football as it came down to one bone-headed decision which turned the game around. I'll also get into the final Wild Card matchup between the Cowboys-Buccaneers. Why I'm hoping for Dallas to win? The AFC Title Game is being played in Atlanta? REALLY? Sean McVay stays on board to coach the Rams and a look to the Divisional Round next week. (45:36) Are we going to have to take the Seattle Kraken seriously? They're not only the hottest team in the NHL, but made history along the way with a seven game road trip that were all victorious. The first of its kind ever! I owe an apology to you, the listener, in regards to the All-Star Break and what I stated last week. There's some sad news to report as I'll remember former Canucks tough guy, Gino Odjick, who passed away yesterday at the age of 52. (54:41) The NBA is relatively quiet as I touch on another injury (John Wall) with the Clippers, a throwback to the old Alamodome for the Spurs and Russell Westbrook dribbles out the final seconds without a shot in a loss to the Lakers last night. (56:53) Tennis's first Grand Slam is here as the Australian Open is underway. I'll preview who's back (Novak Djokovic) and who's missing (Carlos Alcaraz, Nick Kyrgios, Naomi Osaka, etc.) with predictions as to who'll win to kick off the calendar year.
