This week we're joined by former NHL defenceman Doug Bodger, who played over 1000 games in the league. Doug has some fantastic stories. He and Russ talk about the long and winding road that led to their friendship and what was supposed to be their farewell NHL tour as teammates in LA. The boys talk about Mario Lemieux, Doug's old teammate in Pittsburgh. He and Mario were drafted by the Pens 7 picks apart in the 1984 NHL draft. Apparently Mario didn't make the best first impression on the franchise or his Penguins teammates. But that lasted about 5 seconds. Doug has some great stories about life on the road - karaoke, curfews, measuring belly buttons and a classic story about former Canucks head coach Marc Crawford at a Montreal steakhouse that signalled the end of Doug's career. Doug remembers golfing with Tiger...Tiger Williams, that is, and something called neighbourhood golf. And the two former Canucks also discuss this week's firing of head coach Travis Green and GM Jim Benning, Russ's former Leafs' teammate.

This week we hit the quarter poll of the NHL season.  With most teams around 14 games we delve into the standings and what that might mean for the remainder of the regular season.  We also identify some surprises uncovered along the way.  First, we talk about Sullivan being fired...that's Steve Sullivan, assistant GM for the Arizona Coyotes.  He has been let go but no other details were given and no replacement will be named.  The owner of the Vancouver Canucks has given the dreaded kiss of death to the head coach, Travis Green and GM Jim Benning after the team's recent struggles.  Should both of these men be looking for new employment soon? We break down the league as it hits the first turn for this season and finally we talk about and break down the issues with the draft lottery.  Pierre LeBrun has reported on The Athletic that the NHL could potentially be looking at changes to how it works.  And Mike enthralls us with his plan for the draft lottery and, in a really outside the box thought, suggests that teams could be allowed to trade ping pong balls. Definitely worth a listen this week and we would love to hear your suggestions as well!  Enjoy the show!

Ed Willes joins Paul Chapman to discuss the litany of Canucks injuries. Is this a product of bad luck or are the Canucks doing something wrong to have so many players on the IR, with Jake Virtanen being the latest. With the looming trade deadline they also examine what to expect from the Canucks and GM Jim Benning at the trade deadline.   They then examine the Canucks blueline and are Erik Gudbranson and Derek Pouliot scapegoats or really that bad? Ed has some thoughts on how Gudbranson can be used to still be of value to the Canucks, and he also expounds on how much Quinn Hughes changes the whole equation for the Canucks next season.   Ed also illuminates on the Canucks gameday experience, and if what the reaction would be in Vancouver if they participated in the post-win antics that are causing such a fuss in Carolina. The band is back together! Well, except Dave, but Ryan, Geeta and P Mac are all in the same room again! They're talking about the 2nd round of the WHL Playoffs and the Kelowna Rockets and the Victoria Royals' series that Ryan was covering. They touch on Andrew Shaw's use of a homophobic slur towards an NHL referee and gestures that got him both suspended and fined. They talk about the severity of the suspension and why it's necessary in this day and age. They also look at Thatcher Demko's signing with the Canucks. There was some concern the hot shot Boston College goaltending prospect and 2nd round Canucks draft pick would not sign with the team and leave egg on the face on GM Jim Benning. They look at his summer plans and where he will wind up in the Canucks' system next season. The gang looks at the Philly fans and the wild and unfortunate game 3 in Philadelphia as the Flyers and Capitals come together to calm a hostile crowd! Finally, they look at Jonathan Drouin's amazing turnaround in Tampa. From being the black sheep of the organization. Sitting out the season after demanding a trade and off ice behaviour problems to playing a solid 200 foot game, the type of game Jon Cooper and Steve Yzerman wanted from him all along. Enjoy!

Geeta, Dave, P Mac and Ryan join you this week to calm everyone down after an uneventful trade deadline in Vancouver. Radim Vrbata and and Dan Hamhuis remain Canucks and no deal at all was made by GM Jim Benning. But why not? Paul looks at a conspiracy theory and they look at what is in store for the Canucks in the final month of the regular season. League wide, they look at the Maple Leafs' gutting of the team, the Chicago Blackhawks bulking up to terrifying levels and whether or not that could affect their vibe and their chemistry. It's happened before and could the pieces they added really have that much of an impact? The gang runs down some of their 'winners and losers' from the deadline, who's heading in the right direction and who's struggling to stay afloat. Finally, they present to you, Dougie Hamilton's After Hours interview which may go down as one of the most awkward segments in television history. Enjoy!
