Couch Potato Theater: Be Kind & Rewind - Green Lantern (2011) Watch: Fandom Podcast Network YouTube Channel Link: https://www.youtube.com/@FandomPodcastNetwork Listen: Fandom Podcast Network Audio Podcast Link: https://fpnet.podbean.com/category/couch-potato-theater Welcome to Couch Potato Theater here on the Fandom Podcast Network. Fandom Podcast Network co-founders Kyle and Kevin welcome back special guest, and one of the original FPN co-founders... Norman! Norman came to us with an excellent idea and twist to Couch Potato Theater. Couch Potato Theater is where we celebrate our favorite movies.... usually. But on this special edition of Couch Potato Theater we look back at films that maybe we, or the public opinion originally didn't like! But now, we may have a different opinion, welcome to Couch Potato Theater: Be Kind & Rewind - Green Lantern (2011). Green Lantern is a 2011 American superhero film directed by Martin Campbell, from a screenplay by Greg Berlanti, Michael Green, Marc Guggenheim, and Michael Goldenberg. Ryan Reynolds stars as Hal Jordan / Green Lantern, a test pilot who is selected to become the first human member of the Green Lantern Corps, an intergalactic police force. He is given a ring that grants him superpowers and must confront Parallax, a being who threatens to upset the balance of power in the universe. The film also stars Blake Lively, Peter Sarsgaard, Mark Strong, Angela Bassett, and Tim Robbins. Green Lantern was released in the United States on June 17, 2011, by Warner Bros. Pictures. The film received generally negative reviews from critics for its script, tone, visual effects, and unfaithfulness to the source material, and underperformed at the box office, grossing $237 million against a production budget of $200 million. It was also originally intended to start a film franchise based on DC characters. However, due to the film's critical and commercial disappointment, Warner Bros. scrapped plans for a sequel. JOSH BROLIN as Hal Jordan Green Lantern?! No BATMAN in The Penguin?! Those are the main topics tonight and I will be talking Jurassic World Rebirth, going over the Labor Day Box Office, and Beetlejuice 2 reviews.
Hey everyone, we have some BREAKING NEWS from the land of the DC Universe, now over at DC Studios with Co-CEOs James Gunn and Peter Safran. As reported earlier today by scooper Nexus Point News, and later corroborated by reliable reporter Jeff Sneider, Josh Brolin has received an offer to star in the DCU series - Lanterns. This show was pitched as a True Detective style Green Lantern show set on Earth, where the two Green Lanterns of Hal Jordan and John Stewart will be investigating a mystery in the American heartland. It's also been said that this show will involve a terrifying mystery that ties into the larger story of the DCU. So, how likely is it that Brolin takes the role and what are my thoughts on him playing the iconic superhero role of Hal Jordan (Green Lantern)? Find out in this breakdown!

He made his first appearance in an episode of the documentary Andy McNab's Tour of Duty before appearing in small roles on British television series, including Little Crackers and Old Jack's Boat. In 2016, he co-wrote, co-produced, and starred in the web series The Few, which is about working class Londoners who gained superpowers, with Sam Bradford, and made an appearance on Peaky Blinders. He also appeared in episodes of Doctor Who and The War of the Worlds. Although Benjamin only had a small role in the film Justice League (and by extension Zack Snyder's Justice League), fans speculated that Benjamin's character would make an appearance in future films in the series as Hal Jordan//Green Lantern, which Benjamin denied when Snyder's version of the film was released. In 2020, Benjamin played the role of "Shapiro" in I Am Vengeance: Retaliation, and Variety noted that "it's a pity the movie didn't make more of the chemistry generated between [Phoebe] Robinson-Galvin and Benjamin."

Acomi and Turk182 watch... WTH did they watch?! A DC Comics superhero roast featuring Batman and Robin, Captain Marvel (Shazam), Hal Jordan Green Lantern, Barry Allen Flash, The Huntress, Black Canary, and Hawkman (we have no idea which one). The heroes are roasted by other heroes, some are actual comic book characters and some are created for the episode, and by villains. Nonsensical, stupid, and unnecessary. The production value is low, the costumes are cheap, the jokes vary between lame and pedestrian. Stupid doesn't come close to describing this long lost video. Watch it for yourself and be ashamed. DC's Legends of the Superheroes (1979). Acomi and Turk182, along the occasional special guest, provide running commentary of awfulsome movie and TV shows. The hosts select movies that either one, or both, have never seen. All jokes and comments are improvised. NO PREPARED JOKES OR COMMENTS! During recording, the movies are watched at a low volume and with the subtitles on. Viewers may want to turn subtitles on as well to enhance the viewing experience. So, cue up the audio, ready the movie, and hit play when we say so. Note: This video is the commentary recorded by Acomi and Turk182, and selected screenshots. It is NOT a viewable copy of the film. The commentary can be enjoyed on its own, but if you want to experience the Let's Watch in all its glory, you'll need your own copy of the movie.
Acclaimed actor Josh Keaton joined the podcast to cover his incredible career. Keaton was Peter Parker/Spider-Man in the fan-favorite show “Spectacular Spider-Man”, Hal Jordan/Green Lantern in the Green Lantern – The Animated Series. He is Shiro in Voltron: Legendary Defender. The Flash in Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths. Keaton described his entry into the VO business, as well as his live-action experience (and his 90's boy band). He also gave insight into the voiceover recording process during the Covid-19 pandemic. Follow Josh Keaton on social media @joshkeaton.

Worthy doesn’t simply mean kind. For example, Spider-Man is pure-hearted, but he isn’t fully confident in his own abilities (at least for a while). This is why the Flash couldn’t wield Mjolnir. I’m going to define worthiness as selflessness, bravery, and honor. In that manner, the best option is pretty easy. Wonder Woman has lifted and wielded the hammer in a crossover between Marvel and DC. She is a warrior with a great moral compass, yet she will do what is necessary. That’s where the Flash fails. (Cyborg could technically lift it but he wouldn’t be able to use it as only living beings can lift it. As you can see in the MCU, Vision can lift it but not use the hammer’s powers. Technically, Superman also wielded the hammer, but Odin let him. Honorable mentions: Aquaman, Kyle Rayner (Green/White Lantern), Hal Jordan (Green Lantern), John Stewart (Green Lantern), Superman, Shazam, and Nightwing. The post If Mjolnir was dropped into the DC Universe, who would be most likely to wield it? appeared first on DAPULSE.

On today's Comics Syllabus, Paul and brother Sonny discuss "Green Lantern Earth One Volume One," Gabriel Hardman, Corinna Bechko, and Jordan Boyd's DC graphic novel retelling of Hal Jordan Green Lantern's origin story in the Earth One universe. "Green Lantern Earth One" is a dash of Sonny's favorite stuff-- Green Lantern Corps and Green Lantern lore--filtered through the cinematic stylistics of Hardman and Bechko, some of Paul's favorite creators. Then, Sonny and Paul pick upcoming trade collections on their wait list: Sonny picks "Batman Detective Comics TP Vol 06 Fall Of The Batmen Rebirth" by James Tynion IV and Joe Bennett and artists (DC), the fall of Clayface and nearing the end of the Tynion Detective run. Paul recommends "Fantastic Four Epic Collection TP New Fantastic Four" (Marvel) by various writers and artist, notably (for Paul) Art Adams art, collecting "Fantastic Four" #347-361 and Annual #24, a 90s run that includes Wolverine, Spiderman, Hulk, and Ghost Rider subbing for Marvel's first family. Finally, a new wrinkle to the "Wait List with Sonny" segment. The brothers try out three "number one" issues, and Sonny decides if he'll add any to his trade wait list. They discuss "Detective Comics" #982 (the first post-Tynion issue), "Thor" #1, and "By Night" #1 (Boom).
